Amazon.com Product Description
Your Microsoft Zune audio player is an ideal companion when you're on the move, but why restrict yourself to listening through headphones only? With the black Altec Lansing M604 powered audio system, Zune listeners can enjoy crisp, high- definition sound anywhere in the home, from the living room to the garage. The M604 offers the complete package--striking good looks, immersive sound, and an affordable price tag that won't clear out the bank account. Audio-wise, the system is equipped with a powerful digital amplifier, two specially engineered 3-inch, full-range neodymium drivers, and two 1-inch silk- dome tweeters, all of which combine to deliver a full spectrum of pure, distinct sound. The resulting frequency range extends from 60 Hz to 20 kHz, an impressive performance for such a compact system. The unit also produces surprisingly deep bass thanks to the XdB bass-enhancement technology.
At the center of the M604 sits a docking cradle that amplifies, charges, and transfers data to and from your Zune while you relax on the sofa. Simply drop your Zune into the slot, then use the wireless remote to play songs, skip forward and back, adjust the volume, or fine-tune the bass and treble controls. Plus, owners of MP3 players and iPods can also use the system, as the M604 comes with a universal MP3 cradle and an auxiliary input. Other details include an elegant, wall-mountable design that looks great on the living room table or kitchen wall; a composite video output that lets you play your iPod video through most TVs (cable not included); and a headphone jack for private listening. The M604, which measures 14 by 8.2 by 5.4 inches (W x H x D), is backed by a one-year warranty.
What's in the Box
M604 speaker system, wireless remote, universal MP3 cradle, 3.5 mm stereo cable, power supply, quick connect instructions, user's manual.

Okay Sound Expensive Speakers.......2007-12-27
There nice and portable and sound fine, but these won't blast much then your room. Spend some extra money and get a surround sound. But if you insist in one of these then theres nothing wrong with it, just don't expect high quality sound, just okay sound, which is good enough for like 80% of people most likely.
"finiky" complaint not really accurate.......2007-12-26
I got these speakers for thirty five dollars from w00t with a coupon and they are fantastic! Some of the other, even positive, reviews suggest that you have to unplug the speakers to get it to connect with the zune. Not true! You do have to power off (not just standby) your zune first before turning on the speakers to make the connection. Here are the steps:
1) Turn off speakers using power button on the remote or the speakers.
2) Disconnect zune. Turn zune off by pressing *both* the down button on the circle and the back button (
<--). This turns it off instead of merely standby.
3) Plug in zune into speakers.
4) BEFORE the zune is fully loaded (it has that progress line on the bottom) turn on the speakers. The speakers will make a connection with the zune and you are off to the races.
Simple and as you can see, no need to unplug the speakers.
Plus the remote works better for me. All the buttons work -- forward, back, play, pause, power, and volume. True, you cannot manipulate the menu, but as others have pointed out, from far away you cannot see the menu anyways! So, you are going to have to be near the zune anyways.
With wireless sync the setup is even better. Just leave it in and sync over your wireless internet to the computer. Perfect!
Five stars! The speakers sound fantastic and for the price I got a pretty slick deal. I think I have to thank some of the negative/positive reviewers who complained too much, they really helped keep the price down!
(None).......2007-12-26
I recently received this speaker dock and overall I love it! There are some quirky things about it that I don't like, but overall I would recommend it. It's pretty easy to setup - just plug it in the wall, turn on the speaker dock, then put your Zune in place (in that order for it to work). The speaker dock itself looks pretty sleek and you have to option to hang it on the wall if you wanted. The sound is really nice and it gets louder than I thought it would. The remote it comes with is also handy, but it only has power/volume/forward/backwards/pause options. You don't have the ability to scroll through the menus on your Zune - only through the playlist you are currently on. I guess if you needed to do that, youd have to be pretty close to see anyway so you might as well just do it by hand. I've heard it has the ability to play other mp3 players and connect to TVs/computers, but I haven't played around with that yet. Like I said in the beginning, there are a couple aspects that bothered me, but overall I would recommend it.
Nice for your room..........2007-12-23
I don't have a Zune but, I connect my Pioneer Inno to it using the input in the back and its sounds awesome... The Inno home dock fits on top of the Zune dock perfect and looks like if it was part of the speaker system... This speaker produces excellent sound quality and even the bass is decent for a system at this price... The remote works well, is small, and easy to use... I wish it had a led on it though to know when the battery is getting low... I have had it for 9 months now and it still works great... I'm thinking of adding another one...
Great addition to the home entertainment system.......2007-12-21
The Microsoft Zune and the M604 have been on sale for a fraction of their MSRP value making these an important addition while adding market share vs. the iPod.
The M604 dock is of very solid design and functionality, the sound is excellent the bass very solid. The pass through video function to watch your pictures on your TV is a great bonus.
The only problem, as others have mentioned is the weak remote. Once you start playing music, you can move forward and back through your playlist, but you cannot navigate the menus of the Zune. You can additionally control volume/bass/treble and pause/play your video/audio content...you can also fast forward/rewind through a video.

Customer Reviews:
Good quality sound, but I wish they were louder.......2007-12-26
Well, generally these speakers provided great sound for the price (I bought them for $24 at a Thanksgiving day sale) the bass was full and rich but not exaggerated, the mids and the highs were fairly accurate as well. But I really wish they could provide more juice. And I'd say they're definitely loud enough for almost anyone with non special needs.
Design wise, these speakers look quite good (as do most Sony products). And you're getting more than your money's worth so I'd say it's a good buy.
Great Transaction.......2007-12-23
Item was delivered super fast. Packaging was great. I was extremely happy that it got to me quick because it was a Christmas gift. No complaints. Thanks!
wrong dimensions.......2007-12-18
I expected to receive speakers that were of the dimensions listed in the ad. Instead, I received speakers that were half the size of the product description. They are great LITTLE speakers, but Amazon ought to edit the description!
Great Speakers.......2007-12-15
I have really enjoyed this speaker as rear channel speaker. It really does all you need. There is great information at www.audiogon.com as well if your looking other info. thx
Great Speakers.......2007-12-12
I bought a second hand Technics Stereo and needed to get speakers for it, so I got these. I thought that they might underperform for such a classy Hi-Fi, but they sound great and just as big as my Technics. Great Specs for such a small product. The bass is really good, but not overwhelming. If you have doubts, don't have them anymore, this is your product!

Customer Reviews:
Very nice upgrade to HTIB.......2007-12-17
Just got an Onkyo HTIB and as expected, the speakers were weak. I got these as an upgrade to my front speakers and WOW! What a difference they make! I also bought a powered subwoofer and can now turn it down a bit because these speakers produce some pretty good bass on their own. Top of the line caliber? No. But for a medium sized room, they do the job quite well. Music sounds great on these and movies are much, much improved over what I had. You might take note on the size of these "bookshelf" speakers though... :)
Small and clean.......2007-12-09
Bought as part of a system of matched speakers and Amp.They do take alot of power to drive I will say that.Good sound needs a sub for the lows, I think Im used to the Sub Lows by now anyway. This is a Balanced speaker No speaker over rides the other, Havent fully pushed them yet, But I will see what they can take. The written specs they have from Sony are true specs!
Hold on to your hat.......2007-12-05
Always considered my old (early 70's) KLH 6 speakers the best ever 'til hooking up these Sony speakers. Just ordered a second pair since these are friggin' unbelievable and the price is fantastic.
great value, great sound.......2007-11-25
These were on sale with free shipping, which only made it better. As to the speakers themselves, they sound fantastic, and this is in a far from ideal listening room. The sound is clean with good imaging & surprisingly good bass. I had heard that these are the new version of a speaker given great reviews by the leading non profit consumer review organization, and they were dead on. While a bit taller than the "standard" bookshelf size, they are still light enough to be placed on any reasonable shelf. Mine are on small squares of plywood with feet at the corners attached to upside down shelf brackets which are screwed to studs in the wall - no deflection, no rattle.
Great speakers, but shallow sound.......2007-11-25
I'm on a tight budget because I'm a college student and I was looking around everywhere for speakers that could handle everything by themselves (good bass quality, nice highs and mids). As of right now, my setup only has these two speakers and they are hooked up to a Denon AVR-1507 and they sound really good. The only concern of mine with the speakers is that the sound seems a little on the shallow side for the bass, but its not too bad. By themselves these speakers definitely can stand on there own and for anybody on a budget looking for great speakers these are it. I feel that even though the bass is just a tad shallow it doesn't merit giving these speakers 4 stars, they are definitely 5 star speakers. As soon as I pair these with a woofer, I'm sure they would sound even better.

Polk Audio RTi6 High Performance Speakers.......2007-03-20
These are some of the "Richest"sounding speakers you will hear.Very full and smooth.Never mind the modest price, they compare extremely well with speakers costing twice the price. When set up correctly(Bi-amping,which is easy to do)they become almost transparent and present a 3-dimensional sound stage.Fit and finish(real Cherry Veneer)are a plus, something that is lacking on even higher priced speakers.Even my wife likes these.Believe me You won't be disapointed.
Polk RTi6 or JBL L830???.......2006-09-23
Well for your money I would get the polk. Today I went to a high end audio shop and tested the above mentioned. I got to tell you for a two way they had great mid range real nice and life like. The high end was vary natural sounding and the bass was there but not everywhere and vary responsive and crisp (just the way I like I). Low treble, high treble, low bass, high bass they still sounded good (thou with all treble taking out they got a bit muddy, witch would be good for TV actually). High and low volumes still give the same sound, I did notice a lot of the bass left around listening volume, but a little bump on the bass brought it right back up. The JBL sounded exactly the same, only that the vocals and higher mids where more pronounced and "I-sword-I-was-there-ness". They didn't get mudy with all the treble taking out and incredibly crisp with the treble up (they sounded better in other words). The polk would make decent front speakers for a good sized TV but I think they would be a bit much for anything under 27 inch or so...
Considering the L830's are twice as much I'd get the Polk if you have listened to the JBLL830 but not the Polk, about all you would lose would be a stronger mid range and life like ness. Also the store was running them 10% and about this price so this is about as low a price that you will find for new ones.
P.S. That IS real cherry veneer.

Customer Reviews:
Good for the small apartment budding audiophile.......2007-12-13
I've been using a pair of these as my main sound system, driven from my computer and a Sonic Impact Super T-Amp, alternatively a turntable, and I'm very satisfied with the sound of this system. The sound is exceptionally clean; I didn't notice the muddy sound I had been living with until I tried these out. The clarity of listening to a clean vinyl record played through this system is remarkable, and sound output from the computer is very good as well, though noticeably less clean.
Sonically, this setup doesn't punch with much bass, but there's enough power otherwise to make the experience, especially when sitting at the computer (a subwoofer could probably be added easily enough). The level of detail you start to hear is astounding, though you'll start to dislike low-bitrate digital audio very quickly.
At any rate, this is a fine way to turn a computer into your main music center in a small space: a simple, inexpensive amplifier, and a pair of high-efficiency bookshelf speakers.
Great speaker for the price!.......2007-04-23
I purchased a set of Polk RTi4 to use with a Sonos ZP100 in my family room. I was looking for a speaker that would not be too large but still provide clean, accurate sound. So far I have been very impressed with the speakers, especially considering the sub-$300 price!
The RTi4 has handled everything I have thrown at them, rock, R&B, country, classical, etc. They only fall short on the very deepest notes. If you are a big rap fan (not me) or are using them in a home theater setting then I strongly recommend adding a subwoofer. However, if you aren't that concerned about really "feeling the bass" then you will probably be very satisfied with these speakers.
Nice speakers, nice price!.......2006-02-04
I put these together with a Harman Kardon HK 3480 receiver and got crisp sound quality with surprisingly punchy bass. I am going to add a Yamaha 8" subwoofer to give me a little extra oomph for rap music and movie sound effects, but that is more of an indulgence than a necessity. The wall mount brackets on the back made wall installation super easy as well. I am very pleased with these speakers, very good sound for the price.
Great sound in a small package.......2005-12-07
We just bought these speakers to replace a pair of ancient B&O S45s which had finally bought the farm. We went to Sound Advice and listened to 4 different speakers and found that the RTi4s had both the clearest sound and the best midrange differentiation of all 4 speakers in our price range. A bit weak on the bass side, but for $220 including tax, well worth the price

Polk Audio RTi4 High Performance Bookshelf/On-Wall Speakers, Pair (Black Oak) (Purchased on 11/18/2007)
Great speakers, don't need a woofer. Sounds good just as they come. Just the right size and performs like the big ones.
great speakers.......2007-09-21
I bought these speakers for my dorm room. I have them running through the basic sony amplifier/ reciever (STR-DE197) I play all my music through itunes on my computer. These speakers get very loud and the clearity is unbelievable. I have only used computer speakers before, but I decided to upgrade to a stereo now that I live in my frat house. These speakers are loud and clear, but lack bass, which I guess is expected for their size. They trully sound great though and my old computer speakers have a serious sub and I have that hooked up with these to suplement. The bass is still tight its just not room thumping. I would highly recomend these though even if they are by themselves. Just remember great sound not a lot of bass.
Very nice sound for small speaker !!!!.......2007-08-09
I was replacing my old school Technics cabinet speakers with these. I heard them in the store and found them very impressive. Once I connected them to my Sony receiver I was totally amazed. These speakers are WELL worth the money and can be mounted right on the wall. Reggae and Metal sound really good, with very good surprising bass response. I am very happy and would recommend these speakers to anyone.
Great for acoustic music and vocals.......2007-06-24
These speakers are small enough to fit easily in a bookcase yet put out enough undistorted volume to nearly fill my house. They didn't do too well with bass-heavy music (I tried the Fugees) but they were extremely good with vocals from Bobby McFerrin--warm, sharp, responsive. I couldn't stop smiling while I was listening to McFerrin on these. Combine these with a subwoofer and you'll have a system good enough for listening to just about anything. I've combined them with a 5.1 speaker system from Polk, so I've got the home theater and pure music experiences both covered.
The styling is very nice: the grill is a curved shape that projects out from the housing, and the black finished wood veneer is quite pretty.
A Short Review.......2007-05-29
Polk Audio has once again produced a "near perfect" speaker. This is the first bookshelf speaker I have purchased in about fifteen years, so I am not the authority I once was on "the latest and greatest" in all things audio, but I will tell you for the money this is one outstanding deal. The sound quality is exceptional!

This ultra portable stereo speaker fits right in your pocket and allows you to blast crystal clear sound from your iPod nano any time and any place... walking, at the beach, camping, hanging with friends, and everywhere you go.
Customer Reviews:
Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.
Product Description
Top-notch components yield a stunningly accurate bookshelf-size speaker! Custom designed 3/4" tweeter delivers crystal-clean undistorted upper mid and high frequencies. Use one pair for stereo or surround applications or pick up 2 pairs (4 speakers) for use as the front and surround elements in a multichannel listening system. The speakers are magnetically shielded for distortion-free placement near your television or computer monitor. Video programs sound more lifelike and enveloping with timbrally matched speakers all around, and plenty of newer music formats--from the DTS surround CD to DVD-Audio and SACD--offer music from your favorite artists mixed expressly for surround-sound listening. (Alternately, you could use these as surround speakers with larger, floorstanding speakers for the front left/right channels.)
Standing just under 15 inches tall, the DV62si speakers each use a custom-designed .75-inch, ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeter for extended high frequencies and a 6-inch poly/graphite-blend woofer is light yet rigid for tight, accurate, and remarkably extended bass.

Really good sound, exactly the product I needed.......2007-09-30
At the same time I purchased a replacement CD player for my Onkyo system, I replaced my very old floor speakers that have got rattly and been used as a scratching post and worse by cats. These shelf mounted speakers are great improvement in sound and convenience for added room. Could not be more pleased. I am not an expert in sound systems, just want what works for me. So far, I am more than happy with these speakers.
Powerful Speakers.......2007-09-14
I bought these Bookshelf Speakers to replace some older speakers. My wife has never loved the big speaker look so I opted for these. Most people have never heard of this brand but this company is a well-kept secret. Their speakers are excellent and cost much less than the leading competitors.
Good value, no miracles.......2007-09-04
The sound is bright, detailed, pretty good overall, excellent for the price. Bass is about what you would expect from a speaker of this size and price. Finish and appearance are mediocre.
Excllent spkrs at an exc price........2007-08-29
I've had these for 3 days now breaking them in and they sound terrific. It's too bad they are made in China now but the quality is still there. Obviously the QC was carried over to China. Can't believe how good these sound out of the box, very detailed, and I don't see a reason to upgrade the crossovers like others have done. Can't beat this deal.
Great sounding speakers!.......2007-08-24
These speakers sound great - both highs and bass. Paired them with a BIC subwoofer for movies, etc. and really picks up the bass even more. Just a little bigger than I wanted but the price was great!

Great little speakers.......2007-12-25
These little speakers were great value ($130/pr), are quite attractive and well built, and most importantly deliver very nice clear sound when playing playing music (jazz, classical, popular) and movies. They are of course, short on bass (due to their size). They replaced a pair of JBL 3way floor speakers which had better bass, but weren't quite as good in the upper frequencies. I needed the speakers off the floor and away from my babies. I wouldn't call myself a high end audiophile, however, though I do appreciate good sound and I am not willing to pay top dollar (yet).
Great bookshelves.......2007-11-14
I have had the Monitor 30's for almost a year now and am incredibly impressed. Great bang for the buck (paid $140 on sale at CC). I am using these as fronts in my 7.1 surround set up, with Polk M10's as the surrounds and a Pioneer VSX-1018 avr and Sony 40S2010 LCD. I am still using a crappy jvc htib 60watt powered sub, but am planning on treating myself to a Avs123 X-sub for Christmas. :) Anyway, I am here to talk about the Polk M30. My set up is for a 15'x17'den. That's a fairly small room and I have a wife that agitated with overpowering sound (yeah, my love for audio equipment does not always over well). Although I would have loved to go for a floorstanding speaker, I agreed to stick to bookshelf size to keep my wife happy. The M30 certainly fit the bill. They have a clean, accurate sound with excellent highs and mids. The sound is linear and smooth, with a warm tone. If you like a brighter sounding speaker, these probably aren't for you and you might be better off with the Infinity Beta series. As far as bass goes, on my radio shack SLP, they drop as low as 50hz, which is pretty decent compared to most of the bookshelves I have heard and better than the specs indicate. Still, these speakers, by themselves don't produce enough bass depth for stand alone duty. You will need a decent sub that can make up for what the M30's lack and, given the m30 range, setting the crossover on the amp at 80 is the way to go with these babies.
These speakers are designed for a tonal match with all other speakers in the monitor line and the M10's are perfect for satellite duty. I would recommend spending a little extra for the Polk CS1 center over the CSM (returned it). As for a sub to match, CNET likes the match between the Polk PWS10 with the Monitor 30s (used in their test). I auditioned the PSW10 and felt it was lacking umph. I preferred the sound of the Velodyne VX-10 or Dayton 120 (although I am going to take the advice my audiofile friends and go for the Avs123 sub-x for $200).
The bottomline, the Monitor 30 is a high quality bookshelf speaker for a fair price. If you're a hardcore audiofile looking for paradigm and definitive bookshelves, the M30 isn't going to work for you. However, if you're looking for a nice sounding speaker but don't want to spend $800, these are ideal. Certainly, they blow away anything from sony, pioneer, yamaha and Bose etc.
Good for small rooms or rear surround.......2007-07-29
I made the mistake of thinking that these speakers could be used as front channel speakers with a sub (Polk PSW 12) so as to look nice on either side of my new flat screen TV. While they looked great, the sound was truly lacking. If all you want is home theater sound and you don't do very much listening to 2 channel music, then these are fine. For music playback, I found them to sound "boxy" and lack mid-bass even with a sub.
Polk makes a great speaker and for a small room or rear surround these are probably perfect, I just couldn't make them work for my application. I have a pair of Monitor 40s now and they are just right.
Not too bad for the price..........2007-06-17
I got a used pair of these off eBay for about a hundred twenty shipped, was using them for surrounds and recently moved them to computer duty powered by a Trends Audio T-Amp (absolute steal) and have been reasonably ok with them.
Tips: I found that they actually sound better when placed upside down, so that the tweeter is on top. Try it both ways, I'm sure that individual room accoustics, placement, and tastes will all come into play.
Due to space constraints I have them very close to a back wall, which made them sound a bit boomy until I decided to stuff a sock into each of the speakers' rear ports. Since I listen mainly at moderate (60-75db) volumes this doesn't really do any harm to the speaker itself.
Detail and imaging are competent but nothing to write home about, the tweeter is not quite as precise as I would like. In retrospect I think I would have been better off going with Athena AS-B1.2s (about a hundred twenty five shipped from audioadvisor dot com), or especially the Ascend CBM-170SEs (ascendacoustics dot com) which is light years beyond but does cost about three hundred fifty. With a beefier amp though I think the Onix XL-S bookshelf speakers from av123 dot com would do very well at about two hundred fifty shipped.
Sound Great.......2007-04-26
I have this pair hooked up to a Onkyo receiver and use them mainly for sound when watching sports and movies in HD on my flatscreen. Crystal clear and surprisingly good bass considering I don't have a sub hooked up.
If you're an amateur like myself, go get em - you'll like em.

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28

Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.
