Very Very quiet.......2007-12-12
I I recently installed this fan replacing the noisy Intel stock fan for a P4 3.6 Ghz, It keeps my CPU cool and it doesn't make a sound. It comes with everything needed to install including thermal paste and was very easy to install. i recommended it for P4 and AMD compatible.. really is this Zalman is much, much quieter.

Got this delivered in no time flat. The seller did a great job of making sure it was protected in transit.
Was going to put it on a Socket 478 P3 to replace a stock fan/heatsink...but decided to wait till I build another PC & put it on that one in the future. As many have suggested...this is a huge fan/heatsink...but being from Zalman...shouldn't have any problems with overheating.
Zalmon --> My desktop PC become more quiet than Laptop.......2006-10-18
Because my PC was making too much noise which I could hear even from next room, I went and upgraded my Power supply and CPU Fan with "Zalman 400W Noiseless Power SupplyZM400AAPF" and "Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu" CPU Fan.
- After I replaced the Power supply the noise went down a bit but I could still hear the PC in the room.
- When I replaced the CPU Fan the system become so quiet that initially I wasn't sure if I had powered the system at all.
- I have ATX Mid-Tower and now I'm not even sure if the system is working at all if I don't see the Power LED.
- I have Pentium 4 with "Socket 775 CPU" and the only small drawback was that I had to purchase and install additional bracket (ZM-CS1). The bracket didn't fit the motherboard opening (ECS 848P-A7) so I end up attaching the bracket with only 3 screws instead of 4. Be aware that because the screws for the bracket are installed around the processor from the bottom side of the motherboard you have to take out all cards and disconnect all other components (HD/CD/DVD/..) first.
- 2-nd small issue was that the bracket 2 screw holes didn't match well the FAN screw opening and I had to play a while until I was able to put the 2 screws
- after this small installation difficulties my Desktop PC is now MORE SILENT than my Dell Laptop.

Replace your generic heatsink with the big Zalman heatsink fan silent cooler combo.......2006-04-26
This is very big. It will be like a big wheel that will take up about a quarter of the size of your motherboard (mobo) with your central processing unit (cpu; processor) at its centre. It looks small in the picture but the unit is 136mm in diameter (5.35") and probably the biggest component in your computer next to the mobo and power supply unit (psu). To top it off it requires a full dismantling of the system to install because of a back support plate that goes onto the rear of the mobo. The fan inside the spreading metal heatsink is 120mm fan that can run at around 2000 RPM max creating 32 dB but there is a controller with the unit, called a Fan Mate 2, that allows you to control the speed of the fan and so decrease the noise. Apart from its enormous size the unit weighs in at a whopping 1000g which is over 2 lbs. Given that the cooler is so big they have gone to great lengths to create a very harsh to install support frame that will test a novice who may want to consider getting a professional to install it unless you are happy taking out your mobo. You should also double check that this Zalman heatsink supports your mobo as they have dropped support for certain types of mobos. So check before you buy. Installing the actual heatsink is not such a big deal as the parts are very well designed but it does require that you have front and back access to your mobo. You may also find this to be a bit of a squeeze with your PSU unit so again maybe doing some measurements before you buy is a good idea. I found zero clearance between my PSU and the cooler. It literally just breezed against it. The unit is a silent solution not an overclocking solution even though it can be used with overclocking. For those looking to create a cooler, less noisy computer, the Zalman will replace that noisy generic heatsink with a silent one. Your system will also be a little cooler, but not a whole pile, and in some cases there will be no discernable drop in temperature. It is the quietest air-based CPU cooler on the market. That is what is was designed for and that is exactly what it does. If you can't sleep because your computer sounds loud then this will probably help you get some extra forty winks. You may have to disable the generic case fan to hear the silence and of course hard drive activity will play a part in noise, but as for getting rid of a major noise culprit - the generic heatsink, this Zalman is the best around. Just get it, install it, or find someone who can. It is worth it.

I'm very disappointed with the Zalman CNPS7000B. It says no where on the product description that this cooler needs to have specific mounting holes or tabs on the mother board. It says it firs socket 462, but with out the above mentioned mounting holes you have a worthless paper weight, that while pretty is of no use.

About two months ago I purchased and installed this fan on one of my computers (with an ASUS A7V-133 motherboard) and it has worked great. Today I'll be ordering another cooler for a second PC that I have.
The three things to be aware of are: (a) the motherboard must have 4 heatsink cooler holes for mounting the cooler, (b) this all copper cooler is heavy, and (c) you need adequate clearance. Checkout the Zalman website for additional details on these topics.

I already owned the monster CNPS-7700-CU for my Abit IC7-G. Yes, it does fit that MB. I was very happy with the Zalman and in particular the Fanmate2 that came with it. The FM2 is mounted outside the case so I turn it down in the winter and back up to the middle in summer. I never need to run it full blast. I cut a blow hole in the side of the case and mounted a 120MM filter on the case itself with a custom tube that just clears the top of 7700 fins. Works GREAT!
Now, on this Zalman USA CNPS7000B-Cu CPU Fan. It will fit the AMD 462 ONLY if you have the mounting holes. I have an Abit KR7A raid (has the 4 holes) for this second computer and the stock HSF was a joke. Noisy and no cooling to boot. Did the same as in the above paragraph. Cut a hole in the side of the case (this time for an 80mm filter) and used a smaller tube that just clears the 7000B-CU. There is an exhaust fan right behind the CPU socket in the back of the case as well as the 120MM PSU fan so any heat from the 7000B-CU is expelled right away. Plus, with the blow hole idea, the Zalman gets cool air from outside, and the filter catches about 90% of the dust. I just vacuum the filter face once in a while. OEM HSF was about 35C at idle and 54C-60C with Prime95. Now, the 7000B-CU is about 28C idle and 47C Prime95. PLUS, much quieter. (note: the 92MM fan on the 7000B-CU is not as quiet as the 7700-CU) and to get the same air flow, the FM2 has to be turned up slightly higher.
One caution. Amazon.com finally has the title of the 2 items listed correctly. The CU is the all copper model of course and the AL\CU is the lighter copper\aluminum model. Make sure you order the right one. Hint: the more expensive item is the all copper model and the cheaper item is the aluminum and copper model. Don't go by the description(s) or the pictures. Both items have the wrong descriptions and both have the AL\CU for their pictures. Very confusing. When I origionally ordered the 7000 series cooler, I called first because the description showed the cheaper model to be the 'all copper model.' That's what the rep said as well, 'all copper.' I received the AL\CU instead and had to send it back and reorder the correct one.
No problem with the return and all is well now.
With the free shipping (as of this post) Amazon is the best price on this product from a reliable online seller.
A couple of thoughts, make sure your PSU is not too close to the edge of the MB. If it is, it may not fit. Plus, the all copper model is very heavy so get the AL\CU if you want to save on weight (about 2 degrees celcius difference I have read between the 2 models, CU is better)

Not for all motherboards.......2005-11-25
Check your motherboard at the manufacturer web site. I'm sure this product is wonderful, but all I can do now is return it or use it for a paperweight. Neither of my 2 motherboards have the "cooler mounting holes around the CPU socket". (These are needed because, depending on the version, its either very heavy, or very very heavy). This is noted in the fine print on the back of the packaging, but I have to fault Amazon for not noting it in the product description. Even at that, the Zalman web site covers not even half the motherboards out there, which in turn may or may not have the special holes in them. If you are replacing an existing noisy fan you will have to completely remove your motherboard to get to its back side and mount things.

Very cool, very quiet........2006-02-07
I just installed this cooler yesterday into my Antec Aria case. The Aria is a very small case and this heatsink fits in snugly. My case sits next to my monitor and i can honestly say that the fan runs as advertised. At the lowest fan speed (with the included fan speed controller) i cannot hear it. The Antec Cyclone blower in the back of my case seems to make the most noise now. The CPU temperature seems to have gone down too. With the old heatsink the temperature was around 42c but now its around 35c. Removal of my old heatsink and installation of the new Zalman into my Asrock K8NF4G-SATA2 motherboard required me to remove the motherboard from the case and remove some bits from the motherboard. Its not for inexperienced computer users so you might want your local shop to fit it.
