Audiophiles beware! .......2007-12-19
Looking for a relatively cheap ipod speaker dock, I chose this one since it looked fairly attractive and simple. The quality of the main dock is not bad at all. Fit and finish is on par with the more expensive docks, however, the remote is absolute garbage.
By no means is this a terrible dock physically, but the sound quality has left a lot to be desired in my opinion. The dock sounds kind of like low quality computer speakers at best. Very hollow and flat sounding with little fidelity. this was a major disappointment to me. Because of that, I usually only listen to podcasts on it. (Which is fine since I love my podcasts also.)
I would say buy it if you plan on sticking it in the garage, or other work area, but don't use it as your main external speaker source for the ipod if it's going into the living room, or somewhere other people might hear it.

I am a freaken ROCK STAR when I strap this baby to my kayak. There is not much that comes close to paddling Lake Chelan on a cloudy, windy day with the Scorpions or Disturbed blaring in your face. My Otter Boxes for my iPods are really neat, but the headphones are very uncomfortable. THIS IS A MUST HAVE!!

EGO 25906033 Waterproof Sound Case with Speakers for iPod
Yes, if you do not intend to use ear phones with your IPOD or plug in headphones, this case is super. However, if you want to use this to protect your IPOD and you do use headphones you will find yourself removing the IPOD each time. I suppose it would be difficult to make a waterproof case with access to the earphone jack. Other than that, this is a very handy item so that you can protect your IPOD and have speakers as well. Not sure it is worth the asking price though. Given that I do use headphones and am constantly putting the ipod in and taking it out for headphone use, I would have been better off getting a protective case with access, and having quite a bit more money in my pocket.

This product really is waterproof, no problem there at all. It comes with inserts to accomodate different size ipods or mp3 players. One down fall is that it doesn't play the music very loud. It is good if you are in your pool by yourself or with a friend and want to have the ipod player near you in the pool. It is not ideal for a party, it is not loud enough. Unique toy though!

These speakers are great for the beach, pool, boat, or just using at home. The sound is great and I didn't have any problems with my iPod getting wet or the click wheel not working when it was damp. I was very impressed and would highly recommend.

Great Sixty Dollar Sound System.......2007-08-04
I was looking for a radio-CD-cassette player for the bedroom, to supplement the standard radio now in use. I was not looking for something expensive but just to play some of my tapes and CDs before bedtime. I hesitated about buying this system after the one reviewer said the volume was weak.
I received the unit today and set it up. It is just wonderful. The volume goes as loud as I would want. But then I'm nearly age 60 so maybe I don't need the volume the kids today would want.
The sound from this unit is great, I rated it five stars because for the price it is unmatched. The AM reception is quite weak but the FM is strong. Tape cassettes and CDs play quite nicely.
If this were a movie review, it would be Thumbs Up!

only worked for 7 months!.......2007-09-10
Got this set last X-mas; used it approx. 30 times always with new "AA" Duracell batteries. I didn't use it for a month or so then in August I tried to play a CD (not a copy-an original!) and it only plays for the first 40 seconds then just spins and spins and spins.....no sound, no new track song plays, nothing!!! I am an adult who takes very good care of electronics....there is no explanation for why this CD just quit in such a short time! Sent e-mail to Coby cust. svc....no replies as of 2 weeks ago! Stick with the "real" brands!

Mind that i am not from the US, i was worry that the FM radio that came with the package would not able to receives local stations..
Anyhow, everything seems to works fine. It plays the CD nicely, the speaker is average for matches its package price., i uses my Edifier speakers to listen to Taylor Hicks CD.., it really shaken up my room.., Wooo!!
Overall, this is a good package thats came with a reasonable price.
Give it a try if you haven't yet.. ;)

In all I am very pleased with the Coby CD player. However, that being
said, I have reservations about the accompanied accessories.
1. The ear plugs are very uncomfortable.
2. The exterior speakers are tinny.
To counter both deficiencies I went out and purchased a Bose QC3.
Problems solved. However these two lapses should be considered when
purchasing the setup, unless pricing can make up for the deficiencies
so the customer feels they got a special deal.

I got this as a request for a cd player for Christmas. Boy, this thing blows. Whenever I walked, it didnt skip. Worse, it turned off, with fresh batteries. Speaking of batteries, this thing eats em up. Doesnt last 45 minutes with top notch batteries like energizer. The radio was alright, dont use it much though. Speakers were mediocre. Dont go with Coby. Go with brands like Panasonic. I got that blue Panasonic portable mp3 cd player. Its Expensive, but hey, its durable, no skip at all, plays mp3 cds. And it looks cool too.

I was looking for a decent set of travel speakers to use with my MP3 player. We've had the Panasonic speakers for over three months and they've been great. We've taken them camping so my 2 year old can listen to some soothing bedtime music. I've set them in the bottom of the stroller basket when my husband and I take our son and dog out for walks. We've even used them in hotel rooms to dance around and burn off some energy after traveling in a car all day. The construction is durable and they fold to the size of a paperback. The battery life is excellent - we've only changed batteries once so far. The sound is acceptable. They're travel speakers; you can't expect them to sound as good as your home stereo system. I've found that turning up the bass boost on my MP3 player helped. Overall, good deal for the price.

We purchased these speakers for our son who is overseas. Within two weeks he said they were already buggy, and could only be used in certain positions. By the time he had had them a month he was already looking to replace them. The speakers were just sitting on a desk; no extreme use.

Got these for traveling overseas. We needed something that worked on batteries. 2 AA batteries lasted the whole week of vacation in Central America. I love that these pack down pretty small & seem sturdy. I thought the quality was great for the price. No, these are not high-end but they did the job perfectly.

Sure you can pay $75 for some really nice speakers that weigh quite a bit and are cumbersome to carry around. My fiance and I went to the big electronic stores and she wanted to pay a lot for some speakers to plut to her mp3 player. It was ridiculous. We went on amazon and found these panasonic speakers that were affordable and sounded great. It's a great sound for the size and price of the speakers and there are light and easy to use. There's no doubt that these are the ones that I am going to buy in case I need more. They sound better with batteries or a/c adapter, but rechargable batteries last a long time with the speakers.

Almost as good as I thought.......2007-11-13
I have wanted this specific stereo for a long time, how ever I was really never able to find it for sale for a decent price. When I finally found it and purchased it I was a little disappointed. The picture on Amazon led me to believe that it would be a black unit, however it is gray. That is no real problem, just mildly annoying. However the problem is that the sound is not as clear as I was expecting. The gigatube bass creates tons of bass, but if you turn it down as to avoid knocking things off of shelve the sound gets very distorted. The only other problem is that the USB pc link will not allow you to use the controls on the stereo to control your music.

okay im going to start out by saying i am a 19 year old kid so you can stop reading if your bias right now. But i like to listen to songs with bass on a unit and i used to have the old jvc system with the giga tubes when the were new and it had very deep bass. but this system really dosnt seem to cut it its decent but not worth the month i dont think. I was pretty disapointed but i will give it this...its a monster with sound. I also am experiencing problems with the volume control now so im about to send it in for repairs. other than that it is a pretty decent system if you can get passed the little bass issue.

yesterday i left bad feedback about my new hx-d77. a wire had shorted and the subwoofers were not functioning. after finding and fixing the problem,i'm happy to say it sounds just great!!!

This is the first real "home theater" system that I have bought, as it has a DVD/CD player and surround sound. I am an extremely tough critic when it comes to electronics. I was a bit worried that this system wouldn't get as loud as I'd like and that even if it did, the quality of sound would be crap. Well let me tell you, this sucker gets EXTREMELY loud and the quality sounds EXCELLENT!! It's crisp and clear, without any buzzing from the speakers due to the high volume. I've been watching DVDs and listening to my iPod off of it and I couldn't have gotten better for the price. This is a must have for anyone wanting a mini home theater system for a cheap price. Also, it's excellent for dorms and small bedrooms. I highly recommend this system to anyone who's looking for a high quality, mini-home theater system, for a reasonable price!

Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.

Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.

Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.

The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Great device, minimal compatibility with iPod Classic.......2007-12-24
The Altec Lansing iMV712 is a quality product that produces exactly what you'd expect when used with the iPod (generation 5.5 - video, photo, music, podcast playback capabilities). When used with the newer "iPod Classic," this device is essentially nonfunctional. Audio playback is possible until the battery is charged. Video playback is NOT POSSIBLE through the standard docking function -- HOWEVER, it IS POSSIBLE through the external composite video cord (NOT the component video cord) available for purchase for 50 dollars at the online Apple Store. I have used this device with a great deal of success with my 160 GB iPod Classic, though only after I realized you have to specifically ENABLE video out capability - it does not allow for this function automatically, you must go through "Video Settings" to make the necessary change. Many of you longtime iPod users may already know this, but I did not. Back to the Altec Lansing iMV712 - good picture and sound quality, bigger than most people expect (check the Amazon.com dimensions, they are accurate enough), and through the rear inputs, excellent compatibility with other devices such as the iPod Classic, presumably the iPod touch, the Zune, as well as the latest offerings from Archos and Creative. Multiple options for video and audio input make this a solid choice for the present and near future. Despite the lack of compatibility with my iPod Classic, I can say with certainty there is no device I'd prefer for my situation now that I have it hooked up using the composite video cable.
Great sounding speaker, but...........2007-11-06
not sure if it's compatible with the New Generation 6 Apple Classic iPods. I haven't been able to get any video from this speaker yet, I called Apple today and was informed that I need to check with Altec Lansing to see if their speaker is compatible with the new Ipod Generation 6 line.

This is simply the best sound i've ever heard from any of those sooo many Ipod boomboxes. My JBL Radial "High Performance" went straight to my kids after hearing the sound of this unit. If you want the best sound possible and love to watch Musicvideos or Podcasts from your nighttable, this is the unit to get. There is no alternative. I was lucky to get mine from amazon for 278.99 . (they keep moving the price) This is cheaper than the Bose unit and in my opinion a total no-brainer. The screen i would rate "above average" compared to the 8-9 inch range of DVD Players out there. The only thing i wish i could do is playing the music videos from my Iphone. But i assume with a firmware upgrade, Apple will eventually enable a video out.
Also onscreen Ipod Navigation would have been nice. When you play just music, it would have been nice to see the artwork on the screen. But all you see is an altec Lansing sign accross the screen. Remote works very well from a good distance. Overall this unit is very well built. Nice shiny black cabinet similar to the Playstation 3
update december 2007: There is a reason Amazon is selling this unit below 250.00. It is NOT compatible with the 6th Generation Ipod classic , Iphone and I touch, works only for the music but not for the Video. if you are the lucky owner of the 5th and 5.5 gen Ipod this unit is great, for all new ipods Apple has made this unit (the screen at least) useless as they disabled the video out. Very poor from Apple !!!

I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.

My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Nice piece, nice sound!.......2007-04-23
I've had this system for a couple of months now.
Here are some observations I made:
Surround Sound: It works, and is a nice effect over plain stereo, but it's not quite Dolby Pro-Logic 5.1, which would be nice. I still enjoy the 4 speaker surround, though.
Sound quality: After getting by with cheap "micro-systems", the sound difference is breathtaking. Sounds, particularly on the outer edges of its audible range are far more realistic than on a cheap boombox. Often, a recording of a doorbell or phone sounds more realistic than the real thing.
Volume: I haven't cranked it beyond 10 (out of 50, I think), but usually leave it at 5. At that point, it covers the bedroom, and, at 10, the surrounding rooms as well.
Bass: Very realistic, but not overly done. Thumps that sounded like muffled bangs on ultra-low-end stuff actually sound and even feel like thumps. The Groove enhancement is great if you do like the bass.
Live Recording: This is one of two minor disappointments I have with this system. The MHC-LX10000 comes with 2 mic inputs with their own shared volume and echo knobs, which work. However, Sony left out the Karaoke feature that I enjoyed on my previous Aiwa systems, so you have to either drown out the singer with your singing (not fun), or make it a duet.
Energy: It claims to take very little power in Standby, which is nice. The only indicator during standby is a red LED. But I'd prefer an option to display the clock in Standby mode, especially since it has a wake-up feature, which lets it act as an expensive alarm clock, so I'd like to also see what time it is.
Incidentally, my AM Radio has never worked, but I haven't called Sony yet about that, so I don't know if I somehow messed up the antenna or something, or if the unit is defective. Forewarned is forearmed, though.
Overall, I am happy with it and would recommend it if you want a solid system that does its job, though, as mentioned above, make sure your AM radio works and I haven't been able to make it display the time in standby mode nor does it have true Karaoke (ability to fade out the center channel).

I own this system for over 2 months and I like this system, though it is bulky and little bigger for a small room.
Appearance: The appearance is sober, elegant and classic, not the funky type.
Speakers: It does not produce enough sound even in high volume level. But sound quality is very good. It suppresses high frequency notes a bit.
CD changers: It has 3 CD changers. The buttons for Cd changers are in the top. If you keep it in the shelf high enough, you may not be able to see the buttons to change songs/CDs, etc. You can use remote controller alternatively. I would prefer the buttons in the front panel
Cassette: Dual cassette deck with Auto reverse in one. This was very important for me, as I have few cassettes I regularly listen to, and I hate to change cassette sides in every 20 minutes
Overall, this is a good system to own and have
