We have this CD player in our kitchen so that my toddler and I can enjoy his favorite tunes while I'm making dinner or whatnot. He climbs onto the counter and gives this stereo such abuse, and touches all the parts you're never supposed to touch on a CD player, and yet it still works perfectly! I'm really impressed by this machine. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that is does make a quiet electronic "hum" when it's plugged in. It doesn't interfere with the quality of the music at all. But if you're in the room and all else is quiet, you'll notice it. For this reason, we keep it unplugged when we're not playing a CD. Otherwise this CD player is great!

I bought this product so my 3 year old son could listen to music before going to sleep in his room. It is terrible. There is a constant hum as long as it is plugged in. The volume of the hum depends on how the power cord is angled at the back of the unit. The CD player never worked right. After a few songs there is a "ER" message on the screen. Most of the time I can't even get it to play a CD. I'm very disappointed. Don't buy this product.

Sadly we received the product broken. It wouldn't play beyond the half way mark of any cd. In requesting a replacement the company returned the money without any comunication. It was rather strange but they refunded the money so one cant't complain.

I had trouble with two of these. Either the CD player or the cassette player malfunctioned. On another I gave as a gift, the cassette door didn't close properly.

Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I bought one of these for each of my boys, and also bought an adapter so I could plug it into the wall. Tiny player; doesn't take up much space, and can be used with batteries while we're on the road. The problem? BOTH players freaked out in a matter of months!!! Most often, one or the other just doesn't work (or won't read a CD). Neither allows me to pause or skip ahead anymore. If you touch it funny, it just dies.
I would have given this a five in the month or two after I got both of mine. But I have to guess that since TWO pooped out, it's not just a fluke.

I already had purchased a Coby CD player from you and like it. So, I ordered another one for my wife. It arrived and on arrival it made a noise rather than operating....and never did work from day one. So.... I sent it back immediately to Amazon Customer Service. Naturally......I received no response and doubt that I ever will get one.
I never will order any electronic device directly from Amazon.
Very dissapointed customer. I buy often on Amazon.

When I read the previous review about this thing skipping, I didn't pay too much attention because I intended to keep it on my kitchen counter. However, it skips while anyone walks anywhere near it. This is the most amazingly unstable CD player I've ever seen. The best I can say for it is that with the right peripherals, it could be a nifty seismograph.

When I saw this on line it looked good but when I received it and played a CD on it and I was walking around it skips I really like this walkman because it has FM/AM radio I can not take it back because I broke the package that it came in. So in regards to this CD Player DON'T BUY IT PLEASE.

I got one of these cd players as a gift for Christmas last year. I was interested in getting a cd player to use in my bathroom so I have something to listen to while I'm taking a shower/getting ready in the morning. I had had a couple other cd players previously but I was not too pleased with the sound. This particular cd player is not perfect but it does its job.
First, let's talk about how it looks. I have to say that it's rather attractive looking. There are three main pieces-two speakers and the actual unit. The three pieces don't take up that much room although I had quite a bit of room available so if you're looking for something on the small side, this may not be the item for you. The main unit is small but if you place the speakers next to it, it takes up a bit of room. It is pretty simple looking yet modern so it will appeal to people of all ages.
As for sound, it can get pretty loud but not as loud as I'd like. And the louder you put it, the more shrill it sounds. If you only plan on using this on a medium to lower volume setting, I would recommend it. Looking for something louder? Then don't bother with this one. The remote is a handy little device. I rarely use it because I'm always a few feet away when I'm using the cd player but it does work. The only thing that irritates me about the remote is that it won't change stations when you're listening to the radio. It is mainly used for cds.
I've had this cd player for about a year and it has functioned well except for a couple of issues. I already mentioned the remote problem. The other problem I've had is it's pretty easy for the wires to pop out of the speakers. If I'm cleaning around them, they tend to get loose and I have to fiddle with them for a bit to get the speakers to produce sound. Another problem is that I have to hold down the power button to turn the unit on/off. This started happening a few months ago.
All of these things are minor issues however. For being a not so well known brand, Coby made a pretty good product. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a casual cd player.

DOA after DOA.......2007-03-08
This is my third time to order the same item because the first two turned out to be defective on arrival. I don't know what is wrong with this product but I am very disappointed. And, since this is an inexpensive item, after the first DOA I ordered the replacement without even dealing with the return process because shipping and handling and the time I would be putting in this entire process weren't worth it. I am expecting Amazon to ship out this item with no defect and at no charge to my end-user as a courtesy.

I returned this "Hi-Fi System" because the CD player didn't work. That may have been bad luck, but it is still pretty junky. It doesn't even have a bass or tremble dial.... not even a tone dial!
