Customer Reviews:
absolutely NOT Vista compatible - waste of money.......2007-12-11
I purchased this at a local office store and even called the Belkin sales department to ask if it was Vista compatible. The Sales department assured me I could download vista drivers from their website. No such luck. When I called Belkin tech support they told me it definitely was NOT compatible with Vista. Unfortunately, I had already cut the plastic package open. Now I'm out almost $50.
Not Vista Compatible.......2007-10-23
I bought this from Amazon because it was Vista certified. After it failed to install I contacted Belkin. Their response is below.
"Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support.
We understand that F5U002 is not working with windows vista.
F5U002 is not compatible with windows vista."
People also need to be aware that having a parallel to USB cable does not guarantee that a printer is supported in Vista. Most older HP printers are not, so even with the cable an old HP printer won't work. Before purchasing a parallel to USB cable check the manufacturer's web site first for Vista drivers (if your intention is to connect to Vista).
I gave this item 1 star so people would read this review before buying it. I really have no basis for rating it.
Works very well.......2007-10-17
I bought this to connect from a newer Dell laptop to an older HP4+ laser printer. The laptop is Windows XP.
Initial installation was very simple. It came with an intallation CD. I just popped that in, connected to the printer and to the USB on the back of my laptop, and then turned on the printer. It was immediately found and installed.
I have had the printer hooked up for several months and I print to it almost daily. I am very pleased with the product. I know there were cheaper versions when I searched, but I had more confidence in purchasing a Belkin product as I've had success with that brand in the past, and a sort of hit-n-miss with some others.

Customer Reviews:
Poorly designed.......2007-09-16
Does what it's supposed to and very easy to set-up, but falls apart constantly. It would be hard to imagine a worse design.
A COMPLETE JUNK!!!.......2007-08-29
Bought it today and it is already broken. Poor design and too fragile. I am currently using a rubberband to hold the flap together. Don't buy!!!!!!!!!
Flimsy connector.......2007-07-16
The connector isn't robust. It popped apart the first day I used it. The latch pops up and you plug the network cable into a flat but hollow connector. It should be more like a sleeve so that the entire RJ-45 clip is surrounded and secure. I'm planning to return the adapter, unhappy that I spent so much on overnight postage.
Poor design keeps breaking.......2007-06-12
I purchased the Linksys USB100M because it is the only way that I can connect my Tivo to my router. The design is seriously flawed. While trying to connect a cable to it, the hinged flap broke off on my original.
I purchased another one and the same thing happened. I have it clipped together with a large paper clamp now and it seems to be holding.
I would be interested in knowing what other expiences people have had with this.
poor design.......2006-12-09
very poor design..would never recommend this product.
The connection is so flaky, you will end up wasting lot of time.

Customer Reviews:
Do not waste your money.......2007-12-09
This is a cheap printer. Lexmark is a big name, but their printers do not live up to their name! I have always had back experiences w/Lexmark products, but then again b/c the price was very low I decided to give Lexmark another shot. I was looking for something with fax/scanner. For printing, I have a Samsung ML1740 laser, which as been performing for years now with no issue (even with Windows Vista).
I hardly ever used this Lexmark (no more than 5 times). Today after a long time, I decided to make some copies. Well, the paper kept on jamming (somehow the paper tends to shift to the right, thus losing the proper alignment). I spent nearly 2 hours trying to fix the problem, finally out of frustration, I boxed up the printer, and to the dumpster it went!
Please keep in mind I am a professional computer user. I have several hardware and software credentials, so I am speaking from a position of authority.
Bottom line, do not waste your money on a Lexmark product period (I used their high-end products at work with many issues as well.
* Reason I gave it a one star, is beacuase you have to select at least one star, otherwise, it gets a zero!
Great price, but..........2007-11-24
Great price, but some nits:
1. Worked fine on my spouse's XP laptop. Just-plain-wouldn't-work on my new Vista PC, even starting with fresh Vista drivers. Tech support tried their best, but no dice.
2. Fax function is shaky -- the flatbed scanner feeder really does not work well with multiple pages. Works fine if scanning a single-page fax or document, but not if multiple.
My first printer, and very pleased.......2007-10-18
I'm a college student and I couldn't take going to a computer lab before EVERY single class so I could print out my homework, so I had a more computer smart friend do a little looking around for a printer for me, he went to Best Buy and looked around for a printer and came back to me with this one and I can say I am very pleased. When he gave me the receipt you wouldn't believe how much he payed for it. It was on sale for $20 at Best Buy! When I saw the receipt I was a little scared to be using a $20 printer, but I'll tell ya I would have payed $100 for this printer. I can't believe it's a printer, copier, scanner, etc ...I'm sorry for all the other people that couldn't get it to work with their mac, vista, etc because it's a great piece of work. I love it as much as my boyfriend loves his PS3. It's made homework life soooo much more convenient.
Very fine product - Lexmark X5470.......2007-10-12
This product performs as advertised! Should be called a "5 in 1" No Mac here but lit shows how to configure for Mac. No Vista here either but box states "Vista ready"? No USB cable enclosed in spite of adv to contrary. Am pleased with all aspects of this unit. A very good buy.
NOT MAC Compatible.......2007-08-07
This all in one IS NOT MAC COMPATIBLE as advertised by the manufacturer. The software provided by Lexmark does not fully load all aspects of the AIO to the MAC OS system and the manual provided with the machine is only written for PC's. After wasted hours on the phone with Lexmark's barely english speaking and technically incompetent support??? reps, I was told it was MAC's problem.
Well I scheduled a one to one appointment and no one there could figure out why this software was not loading right. it seems both the Brother and Epson were fine.
So back it goes, I do not have the time for this nonsense.

Label Machine.......2007-12-21
We use a machine like this in our IT department at work....I bought this one for home use, organizing hardcopy files and for use in my hobby.
Works great.......2007-02-14
This is a great labeler. I got it to help me implement David Allen's Getting Things Done program and so far it's been a great help. Of course, you can label anything you want, any way you want -- not just according to his system.
I use the AC adaptor exclusively because this is a little chunky for portability. That said, if I had to use it in a portable way, I could. I did install the software on my computer, but I'd rather just use the labeler in a stand-alone way. The software isn't as intuitive as it should be and requires that you trim the tape by hand. Yuck.
The print quality of the 1960 is pretty good. I think it works by heat, not ink, to print, so it's very clean. It leaves a lot of white space when it prints -- like an inch or so on each side. A bit wasteful, but what can you do? Not sure if you turn off the auto cut feature if it would use less tape.
The tapes are quite expensive, in my opinion, but there's really nothing else like it in terms of neatness and convenience. Make sure you have at least one backup. And unless you know what you're labeling, I strongly suggest using just black type on white tape. It's the easiest to see.
All said, this probably does way more than I need. I'm not sure I would get this model again for basic labeling, only because of the price. But if you want something a little fancy and with a nice keyboard layout, this is your tool.

Why waste your parallel port on your high-speed printer? With CP Tech's USB to IEEE-1284 Printer Cable, you can use your USB port on your PC or hub and free-up the parallel port for a Zip drive or scanner. Forget the hassles of IRQ sharing by adapting your high-speed printer to USB. If you have multiple printers, you can eliminate the need for a switchbox by connecting each printer to a USB port. The device is fully transparent to the user, and is ideal for true bidirectional communication.
Customer Reviews:
Worked like a charm.......2007-08-27
I have a new Vista machine with no printer port, and an old HP color inkjet. I bought this cable hoping that I could get around buying a new printer. I plugged in the printer with this cable, turned the printer on, and Vista automatically saw the printer and I was immediately able to print. HOWEVER, the print came out several times larger than usual. Guessing this was a Vista issue, I rebooted the CPU and tried printing again. Worked like a charm! Note, however, that while you may have been able to rely on the CPU alerting the printer to wake up, now you need to manually turn the printer on to be able to print. No biggee there.
Doesn't work on Vista.......2007-04-27
I bought this for my new laptop with no parallel port, which is running Windows Vista. Unfortunately, as of today (4/26/07) this cable only comes with drivers for Windows 98 and Windows XP, not Windows Vista. I tried installing the XP driver, but to no avail. Buy a different cable if you have Vista or or planning on upgrading to Vista.
CP USB printer cable.......2007-03-22
Everything was as mentioned on website. However I found that it doesn't work with Vista, at least right now.
Did not work for me..........2006-12-29
I bought this cable to connect an HP laptop (running XP) to an HP LaserJet 6L printer. XP did not recognize the cable as new hardware. I tried to install manually using the Install New Hardware feature, but that didn't work either. I finally bought a Belkin cable (about twice the price), and it worked like a charm.
Simple solution...........2006-08-07
I bought a new computer and didn't realize that it did not have a parallel port for my printer. I came across this cable on Amazon, where the price was half that of any similar cables in other stores. I plugged it in and made sure to change the printer port to USB (per the advice of other reviewers) and it worked like a charm. Less than 5 minutes and it was up and running.

Customer Reviews:
Great value for the money paid.......2007-01-03
I think this is a very nice switch box, when configuring computers this is a must.
Works ok after some fiddling.......2006-12-19
Initial installation worked fine, both mouse and display were switched w/o any problem, but my Compaq Desktop keyboard was not recognized by my laptop after switching. Upgrading the laptop BIOS and installing correct keyboard drivers fixed this issue.
It's strange that the product documentation does not contain information about hot key support: pressing Scroll Lock 4 times in a row will switch - an important undocumented feature. Thanks to "JustMe" for pointing this out!
The other thing I don't like is the Audio support cables: If I plugin the USB cable into the back of my laptop docking station, the audio cables are not long enough to reach the front, where audio ports are located. Fortunately, audio support is only a minor requirement for me.
Switching time for me is about 3 seconds, which is kind of what I expected to get.
Overall, 3 stars ...
Works Fine For Me..........2006-12-11
I have mine hooked up using only one of the usb ports for my Microsoft Wireless Desktop (Wireless Comfort Keboard 1.0A & Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0).
I use it to switch from my Dell Dimension Desktop to my HP TC1100 Tablet in a Docking Station that I use spanning both monitors.
Audio & Monitor switching works fine using the hardware switch or the software switch. USB 1.0 fine for keyboard & mouse.
Does everything I expected, using my wireless keyboard & mouse!
Typical Belkin Junk.......2006-08-07
I wasted a couple hours of life on this JUNK.
Decides for itself when you want to change inputs.
If you push the button, 50% of time it fails to correctly hold new signal after user button press, swapping you back to other machine. The other half of the time it never finds the new signal and swaps you back to the first machine.
Junk - Continuously auto-switches........2006-07-28
This is an absolute P.O.S.
As someopne else said, it auto-switches everytime you reboot a machine, and apparently any other time the O/S or BIOS decides to re-initialise the USB ports. What it does is switch back over to the other input when you reboot the machine you're working on.
Even worse than that... it won't stay selected on a machine if that machine hasn't initialised its USB ports properly, e.g.:
I am working on a dead machine here which hasn't managed to get its USB drivers up and running properly yet (it's midway through the XP repair/setup), so I'm only running video through the KVM and have a ps/2 keyboard attached to the machine. This would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that after about 5 seconds this junk KVM decides to switch back to my main machine. I do have the KVM's USB cable (for mouse/keyboard) plugged into the machine as well, but until XP setup installs the USB drivers and 'connects', this thing will continue to keep switching away from the machine I'm working on.
I had much better luck just using an extra keyboard/mouse and the input-selector on my Monitor.
100% JUNK.
If you aren't rebooting computers regularly, and you can put up with the above, then there is the other problem of the delay. As another writer said, there is a delay of around 5 seconds when you switch. This is because the device basically performs a USB connect / disconnect. This means you also get the "dum daa" USB noise (the sound that Windows XP makes whenever you plug-in a USB device). The only thing is, you get it twice. Once for the 'virtual' mouse and once for the 'virtual' keyboard.
Pressing the select button on the top isn't exactly responsive either. Sometimes you have to press a few times, or give up and wait 10 seconds and try again. Or unplug the damn thing from all USB ports and try again. Or just unplug it and throw it away.
I suppose it has to be 1 star. There's no option for zero-stars.

Customer Reviews:
Didn't live up to my expectations.......2007-05-06
Ultimately, I returned this product. It was horribly slow, and it kept crashing on me. I haven't had problems with any of my other Bluetooth devices. Maybe Bluetooth printing technology just isn't there yet, though.
Great solution for printing across the room or outside........2007-04-28
This product works great. The book said it does not work with all in one printers but I have had no problems. I guess it wont work with the scan and fax functions. It prints just as fast as when corded. I even print from my patio with my laptop.
HI ON PCS.......2007-02-02
This product was just what I needed. It gets the job done, slow but it gets done. My only complaint is that I can't figure out how to inbed the passkey, everytime I print a popup message asking for password comes up, it gets on my nervous after awhile.
I'm sure I'll figure it out just before I get a bluetooth ready printer.
Other than that, I would highly recommend this product..
Nice, but a little bit slow.......2007-01-10
That is a nice product. I used some days, but works slowly from the Desktop and from my Pocket PC. But anyway is a good solution to print from my Pocket PC from everywhere in my house.
F8T031 does the job.......2007-01-10
This unit does a good job, but is not perfect. It was difficult to set up. After a few attempts and with a bit of knowledgeable assistance, it worked. It continues to do so. The range is acceptable, but perhaps a bit shorter than the advertised 33 feet. That's not been a problem, since my alternative locations are probably a bit outside the 33 foot maximum anyway. I use it in an area where I simply couldn't run a printe cable. So ... it works for me and I'd buy it again.
