I bought this for my husband who just wanted something to listen to his cassette tapes. But, it has AM, FM, TV, and a weather band! The batteries last a long time too. The price is less than some of the others that only have AM, FM, and cassette. I would highly recommend this one.

I purchased this item after reading the reviews on it. It is all that it claims to be, and only uses one battery instead of two. I love it! It is small and compact, fits in my pocket. Great sound, easy to use, has Mega base. Haven't had a chance to use the TV setting yet as I live too far away from a station. I would recommend this item to anyone who likes to listen to books on tape. Longer life on one battery than others using two.

Great Sixty Dollar Sound System.......2007-08-04
I was looking for a radio-CD-cassette player for the bedroom, to supplement the standard radio now in use. I was not looking for something expensive but just to play some of my tapes and CDs before bedtime. I hesitated about buying this system after the one reviewer said the volume was weak.
I received the unit today and set it up. It is just wonderful. The volume goes as loud as I would want. But then I'm nearly age 60 so maybe I don't need the volume the kids today would want.
The sound from this unit is great, I rated it five stars because for the price it is unmatched. The AM reception is quite weak but the FM is strong. Tape cassettes and CDs play quite nicely.
If this were a movie review, it would be Thumbs Up!

Perfectly adequate.......2007-12-21
I was looking for a cheap boom box that would be loud enough to dance too without sucking down batteries at an alarming rate. This fit the bill perfectly. The sound is surprisingly good (as well as loud enough) for something so inexpensive. As a plus, it is nice and light too. It is obviously cheaply built - the buttons are loose, and the CD tray needs coaxing. But given it's price, it is a great little machine. And it does play CDs I burned without coaxing, which is more than I can say for my last CD player.

A couple of weeks after purchasing this product, the buttons started getting stuck when clicked. In addition, the sound quality is horrible and the CD player is very sensitive to even a slightly dirty CD.

Actually, this is the third RCA boom box of this model that I have purchased because they are relatively inexpensive and my local Target carries them. The reason however that I have purchased three is that after one year either the tape deck or cd player fails. I use the boom box daily in a home daycare environment, but the children do not operate it. This past summer, I dutifully went out and purchased my third, but it has not even made it three months. The cd player fails to load and the tape deck unexpectedly clicks off after running only a few minutes. Number two boom box actually ate a cassette tape. The unit is attractive but it is simply too inconsistent to recommend. I'm looking for my receipt to take the last one back.

Within a few weeks, I started having problems with radio reception and would have to fool with the antennae repeatedly during the day. Sometimes CDs would play and sometimes they wouldn't. Now, less than a year after buying it, it's stopped working altogether. Don't waste your money.

bought this for my wife to use at work due to a limited area. works and sounds great. there is a slight problem with fm reception but this can be attributed to working in a steel and brick building. other than this, we are happy with this purchase.

I got this for myself about a week after Christmas, so I've had it more than three weeks. The system itself looks pretty sleek. The speakers do what they're supposed to and the Bass Boost is marginal. Recently the LCD has started flickering between the last digits on the radio station, and from time to time drops or rises two whole numbers, and thus loses the signal (this usually happens when I turn the radio on). The tape and CD play fine so far, though the CD whir is audible at close quarters. I didn't want to splurge on something expensive, so I opted for this. The other review for this item shows it's quality can be much worse. I got a cheap deal, and am content with it for now. If you're looking for something reliable, this is not the item to buy.

Not impressed. Cd player went out of alignment within 5 days of use and destroyed two cd's. Customer service at York was rude and unhelpful. I didn't expect much from this inexpensive stereo unit, but did expect more than a week's use. Very disappointed.

DOA after DOA.......2007-03-08
This is my third time to order the same item because the first two turned out to be defective on arrival. I don't know what is wrong with this product but I am very disappointed. And, since this is an inexpensive item, after the first DOA I ordered the replacement without even dealing with the return process because shipping and handling and the time I would be putting in this entire process weren't worth it. I am expecting Amazon to ship out this item with no defect and at no charge to my end-user as a courtesy.

I returned this "Hi-Fi System" because the CD player didn't work. That may have been bad luck, but it is still pretty junky. It doesn't even have a bass or tremble dial.... not even a tone dial!

The sound quality is poor because of cheap, small speakers; radio tuning is
very difficult because of problem turning dial, there also seems to be a hum
during LP playing(it's also too bad phono doesn't include a record changer);
there are no treble/bass adjustments. Probably OK for kids or for people who
don't care much about quality of audio.

WE HAD THE UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE OF BUYING A VERY SIMILAR UNIT, THE GF-600. AFTER A COUPLE OF YEARS THE CASSETTE RECORDER AND THE CD PLAYER WENT BAD. HERE LATELY THE POWER SWITCH DIED. CRIMINAL CHARGES OUGHT TO BE LEVELED FOR PEDALLING JUNK LIKE THIS.
BTW, I CHALLENGE TEAC TO CALL ME AND MAKE IT RIGHT - 703-878-8952 - I'LL BET THEY WON'T.
I ALSO INTEND TO DISCOURAGE ALL MY FRIENDS FROM PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM TEAC, AND i WISH TEAC AN EARLY BANKRUPTCY.

This machine was purchased by me as a gift to a friend who needed a unit that played tapes as well as LP's and the just love it. They owned one before and insisted on this one.Highly reccomended

The item was delivered quickly and in good condition. But in the course of making the purchase, at no point was I warned that because it is US made, it will not work on a British voltage. I had an adaptor - that was not the problem. The problem was that when I switched on, there was a loud and alarming hum, an even more alarming bang and a frightful smell and that was the end of my Nostalgic Console. I have now found and ordered a British product which should arrive shortly.
It is important that purchasers should be aware of full technical details before concluding a purchase - and that the information should also be put in plain English so that buyers without a technical background can make sense of it. Much technical information supplied with electrical products (I am speaking generally now) is incomprehensible to anyone who is not an engineer. Valerie Anand (Disgruntled of Mitcham)
The tape player is below par.......2006-02-26
This unit IS very attractive. The sound IS good. But the "Casette Deck" is a rectangular hole, with one button to fast forward/stop, and no buttons to rewind, or play. It's worse than the tape player in my old Ford.
Then the darned thing stopped working. I was very upset, as this was a gift. Do not buy this product if you have any intention of ever playing casette tapes. Otherwise, it was nice.
