A Must For Home Use.......2007-05-13
Sirius was being optimistic with its antenna that comes with their home kit. Aiming it became a ritual; aim it towards the couch (perfect signal) then drop outs two hours later. Then aim it at the TV (perfect signal, then drop outs again). Repeat above.
Replaced that antenna with this roof top model. Then excellent reception, all day, all the time. Worth every penny. I mounted it on an old sat antenna pole and used the sat combiner/splitter kit (Sirius brand, Monster has one identical) to make use of the existing sat cable. No new wiring! It will work with the new 5 LNB DirecTV dish wiring to boot.

I just received my antenna, and while I haven't yet installed it, so far I am pretty impressed. It seems to be sturdily built and includes all the hardware you'll need to mount to a mast, or directly on the side of a house or the roof itself (sealant or caulk is advised for roof mounting). I'll return here and update or add another review once I've had a chance to test it. For now, I'll post the specifications from the manual, since they aren't part of the product description.

A More Sirius Antenna.......2007-01-10
This antenna improved reception indoors and out. The small antenna included with the radio and boom box lost the signal easily due to trees- there are a lot here and more out camping. Although not perfect, it is a great improvement over the standard antenna.

I needed an extension for my antenna from my reciever dock inside to a spot outside. This works great, I haven't lost any signal and I haven't had any problems so far with rain causing issues. I would have gave it 5 stars but the cable is the thickness of normal coaxial (simple terms: normal electonic cords) and makes it very difficult to run through window seals, ect.

I used this antenna with a boombox. It worked fine until a sliding patio door cut the wire in half. My problem here is the sliding door was not slammed shut or mishandled. The wire seemed awfully fragile to break the way it did. If you will be putting the antenna outside, make sure the wire will not be pinched by a door or window.

I'm a veteran Sirius customer and can honestly say this item is worthless for the most part, especially if you live in Area 5 (see Sirius' webpage on positioning and installaion). Never has worked in the 2 years I've owned it, regardless if it was inside or out- sat it 75 feet away from any building with a clear sky above and still never worked. This just doesn't have a strong enough signal to pick up anything especially in area 5.
However I did find something interesting- the magnetic small car antenna works better than anything even for a home docking kit which I use it on. It will pick up a perfect signal even beside a building and obstructions above- save yourself some $$$$ and just use the antenna for the car at your home too!

I was unable to get a consistent, satisfactory signal with this unit.
I found that unless you had perfect alignment to the satellite, this antenna did not receive the signal consistently well. Also, the least movement of the connecting cord or if someone moved the blind/curtain, this would often be enough to move the antenna and thus disturb the exact positioning required to make this antenna function properly.
In the end I returned this unit and got an extra car antenna (the one with the strong magnet); this allowed me to put an extension cord under the window sill to the outside. I then was able to easily find a site that gave me excellent, continuous satellite reception using the magnetic antenna (exact positioning is not nearly as demanding for the magnetic antenna). Since then my home unit has worked perfectly.

I'm on my second antenna within a year and it is failing too. I get an "Acquiring Signal" message that is interruped occasionally by the progamming we paid to hear. The antenna really is a cheap piece of garbage. I would recommend not wasting money on this worthless antenna. I'm angry with Sirius for selling me these pieces of trash and am debating whether I will renew my service.

I broke the original antenna that came with my Starmate after a year and a half of flawless performance. I bought one of these from BB the same day. I wish I had read the reviews first.
Mine lasted about 6 months before getting frequent 'no signal' messages, even in places where there is a terrestrial repeater nearby. I don't know why these die so fast, I bought it in the spring and it didn't even last long enough for freezing temperatures or winter weather to affect it.
Expensive junk, If you keep replacing one broken low-profile with another, you will spend more on antennas than on your Sirius subscription.

I bought my first satellite radio in my life in August of 2007 ( Sportster 4 w/ Car Kit) and my antenna went bad after a month (Message said: "Antenna not detected") Sirius was great about quickly sending me a replacement, though I had to pay another $30 in labor to have it professionally installed (again). Just over a month later, I am now getting bad reception with the occasional message: "Acquiring Signal" and no audio. So I called Sirius to get ANOTHER antenna and they wanted to send an entire replacement Sportster 4 w/ Car Kit, have me play around and find the bad parts and THEN ship the unused parts back AT MY COST!!! I could not get them to pick up the tab on an approximate $6 shipping charge. I don't mind paying this if this was the only time, but this is the 2ND TIME IN 3 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP THAT THIS PRODUCT HAS GONE BAD!!! Consequently, we had bought a 2nd Sportster 4 that stopped working in a week (the unit itself went bad) but they quickly sent a replacement to us. Seems like there's some quality control issues at SIRIUS.

My antenna lasted about 7 months and now is cutting out. An old XM radio antenna works great but it is my spare. The replacement prices are rediculus. You can get a new radio with everything for less.

I have had a Sirius Radio for about 2 and a half years. The original antenna I had from when I bought the unit lasted about 14 months with no problem, until it broke. For the last 12 months I have been purchasing these pieces of junk at $40 each from my local bestbuy. In 12 months time I have probably gone through 4 of these antennas with each one lasting about 2-3 months. I`m about ready to go purchasing my 5th antenna because the one I own is getting ready to die. Buyer beware on these. These would probably be a better deal if they where only 10-15 dollars each. But at $40 per antenna with an average life span of 3 months is just outrageous.

Installs easily to mirror bracket, even thicker pod mirror types. Also includes hardware to mount to 'wings' using a clamping piece with rubber feet. It appears that it would also work with any standard CB antenna bracket, though I haven't tried it.
Replaceable wire is a step up from the magnetic pucks, where you have to replace the entire unit if the wire is damaged. Easier to install when the wire is separate. The included wire is also more substantial than the super thin wires on the magnetic antenna.
Smaller magnetic antenna on the roof can have dropouts due to a 'sundial' effect when you are driving in certain directions, this moves the antenna away from the truck so you get an uninterrupted view of the satellite.
I broke my original magnetic roof mount by accident, not enough slack in the wire opening the door. Replaced with the low-profile unit which started going bad after ~6 months. Having both installed and being able to swap antenna plugs at the radio unit with the signal strength indicator showing, the difference was significant, 6/10 bars on low profile and 10/10 with truck antenna. Terrestrial repeater reception was also much improved.

Just what I needed........2007-03-10
I have a company vehicle that I drive. So the plug-in play sirius radio comes in handy for me when I move from the company truck to my personal vehicle.
Now with the XACT home kit I can bring the receiver in my house. I purchased a couple of small multimedia speakers for it and now it makes a nice small stereo out of my receiver.
The only draw back though is that the antenna can only sit inside on a window sill if it's on the north side of my house, otherwise it would have to be mounted outside.

Terk quality and ease of installation is there, as always. Performs great in a heavily wooded area around two sat TV dishes. Just be sure to play with the heading and elevation tilt a bit to gain full performance from it.

Before purchasing the Terk outdoor antenna, I had been using the smaller antenna that came with the Sirius home kit. Until a few months ago, I had been having no problem, the antenna right outside one of my windows. Then I started experiencing drop-offs, where I went from three bars to none and loss of signal. Since I put the Terk antenna on an elevated deck post, I have been having perfect reception. I did take time to aim the antenna properly, speaking to my wife on a cell phone, until she indicated to me that I had obtained the best position. I have this antenna attached to a Terk extension cable, as well. I could not be happier with both products.

This is a better antenna than what came with the Serius radio. My radio only blacks out when the satellite shifts twice a day. It is simple to mount and is easy to adjust. It would be better if could be a 360 degree adjustment.
Still it is much better than the stock antenna.

The perfect fit.......2007-10-30
This antenna was a replacement item for my original antenna. I have a "Sirius ready" Clarion head unit with a seperate reciever in the rear hatch. At first I was a little worried that Clarion might have a proprietary connection on the receiver. Since I was without the service for over a month, I was eager to install the antenna right away! Upon initial inspection, I was surprised to see how small the unit is. Much smaller and less obtrusive than my original antenna. The black color seems to blend in better than the old grey one. After checking the connector where the antenna connects to the receiver, I saw they were identical. First I cleaned the area on my roof with a rag and water where it was going to be installed. Next I put the antenna where it's going to sit on the vehicle. You want to route the wire before you peel off the doubleface tape that holds the wire in place. After getting everything in place and making sure everything is working properly, get the alcohol swab supplied with the kit, and wipe off the area between the antenna base and where the wire enters your vehicle. Now you can peel the doubleface tape and place the antenna in it's permanent position. It's a pretty painless swap out. If your are replacing an old antenna, make sure you get all of the old doubleface tape off. Easier said than done!

This antenna works better than the one that came with my Radio. I still haven't installed it on my roof. It is just sitting on my dash and I'm getting great reception.
The people that are complaining about the plug must not be very observant people. There is a purple retainer on the side of the green plastic piece that pops right out. With that out, you can gently pry the plastic piece off the plug and it fits right into your radio. They should include instructions on how to get it off for the technically challenged.

Great satellite antenna. I haven't had any problems with it so far with the exception of the little rectangular plastic connector that comes attached to the connector. You can just pop the purple tab off and the plastic part comes right off. Be careful not to damage the connector in the process!

I don't believe it is as good as the Kenwood antenna I had, but its better than nothing. That was the choice. Nothing and the Terk.
