A little disappointed.......2007-12-19
The HomeDock Deluxe plays the music from my Ipod through my TV fine. However, the Album Artwork feature that I was looking forward to did not appear. The people at DLO informed me that the software in the new Classic 160 Ipod does not allow the Artwork to appear on the TV screen.
I have not yet mastered the remote control.
video listing not working right.......2007-12-17
I got this as an upgrade to the previous version of the Homedock Deluxe for its added feature of displaying video titles onscreen. But it doesn't work. The list of TV shows is completely out of whack - episode titles appear randomly under different series folders. And long titles don't scroll so you can read them, like the ipod does.
Tried the web based software update which did not work. DLO responded quickly to my question about it saying they had "no further information."
I tried this new dock with an ipod video 5.5. I hear the video listing does not work at all with the latest ipods.
So I'm going to return this and go back to using my old version of the unit - which has always worked well - except that the remote does break. I've gone thru 3. Don't replace the battery, just order a new remote direct from dlo.
An added note though - some people have complained about distorted sound - I found that it was just a matter of turning down the volume of the homedock using the remote control - an feature I'm sure some people don't even know exists! This feature allows the homedock to make its audio signal quite hot - which is good for some videos that have very low audio levels (itunes tv shows for example) - but bad for most music mp3s which have a much hotter output.
A stellar product for a modern home theater.......2007-11-23
I just received this product and in 15 minutes had it hooked up and was watching video through my home theater (my components are listed below). I was very impressed with menuing system. It's good looking and very simple to navigate. The remote is small but functional and attractive. The video (which is upscaled to 1080p because of my gear) looks about as good as standard definition DVD (which amazed me because I was expecting a lot grainer images). The audio through my Onkyo and Definitives was crystal clear. I highly recommend this product.
If you own an Ipod you need this!.......2007-10-17
I was a little skeptical buying this product because of issues with the previous model. We have had the Homedock Deluxe for over two months and I have not had any issues. We have used the Homedock Deluxe more than I could have imagined. If you load videos on your Ipod and watch them on a TV this product is a must. The interface on screen is easy to use and the remote control makes the product easy to use from the bed or couch. It was perfect for use while my wife was in the hospital. Overall I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

90% of the videos in our ipods (which were purchased on itunes) don't show up in the onscreen menu, making this product slightly pointless! It is also irritating that the buttons on the remote don't relate to what happens on screen. Buyer beware. The price is steep and the product is crap!

OK Here it is it's smiple read the specs and it say you can see the cover flow for I-Pod on TV screen NOT!!!! So if you do not want to see the clover flow or album covers like on your I-Pod they this was made for you!

This unit solves the problem of getting audio to your receiver, amplifier, or home theater system and video to your TV. Set up is simple and straight forward. The unit also allows the iPod navigation menus to be shown on the TV screen and the supplied remote can be used to navigate the menus. The audio quality is excellent (as excellent as an iPod can generate anyway). The only suggestion would be to replace the supplied audio cables with some of a little better quality such as Monster audio. Kudos to DLO on this one!

Before trying the DLO HomeDock Deluxe, I tried the Apple Component video cable with the Apple Universal Dock and remote, the KeySpan TuneView, and the iLuv video dock. The Apple Component video cable with the dock and remote worked great, but didn't display any menus on the tv screen or on the remote. So using the remote was basically useless since I had to be close enough to the ipod to read the screen as I toggled through the menus. The KeySpan TuneView was a bit better, in that the menus were displayed on the remote itself, but not on the tv screen. It was a nice little product, but not what I wanted. The iLuv video dock displayed the menus on the screen, but the remote was awful - the keys barely worked and the iLuv unit would freeze up occassionally. It also did not display album art on the tv. Definitely not worth the money.
But the DLO HomeDock is the best of all these worlds - displays menus AND album art on the tv, and the remote is fairly easy to use. I'm echoing what the others have said, though - there are some serious quality control issues. The pause key doesn't work on my remote. Even when I programmed my Harmony 890 remote to take over for the HomeDock remote, pause still doesn't work. I also had an issue with the HomeDock completely crashing my iPod while I was trying to play a tv show from my iPod through the HomeDock on my tv. I'm not sure what happened, but it froze up and when I went to retrieve my iPod, it was very hot. I have it plugged into my computer now - I hope it recovers!
I am beyond disappointed, though, as I don't see any other options out there. I hope DLO is listening! IMPROVE YOUR PRODUCT! We Will Buy It!
HORRIBLE FRUSTRATING PIECE OF $%^#.......2007-07-25
Bought it. Did not work. In brief(and only as a small example) the remote goes down when you ask it to go up. Goes sideways when you want to acces a different menu. Keeps scrolling when you are hitting the enter button. It is the only device in many years that I have wanted to literally stomp on.
Returned it for a replacement thinking it must be a dud (only after replacing the remote battery to find that that was a waste of money) and the new one is just as bad.
