WOAH.....VERY NICE INDEED!.......2007-12-02
Well...after carefully researching speakers in my price range, which isn't much and seeing I literally hate to get ripped off, I opted for these Sonys. I made the right decision. At first I had them hooked up wrong...had one connected as a front speaker and one as a back. Alright, So now you know I'm a dork. I thought I might need extra tweeters when I had them wrong, but after rectifying my mistake I discovered I needed no such thing.
Bass is strong and solid, mids are great and the highs are ample...very pleased. I am an Infinity speaker fan and seeing I can't afford my glorious infinities these were their substitutes. I had a pair of Infinities once and these are serious contenders. I am astounded at the sound and power. I was looking at some Acoustic Audio's on ebay due to the price and the claims...yet was told they are garbage, actualy I suspected as much. So for $132 delivered, you cannot possibly go wrong with these Sony's. Yet I will confirm what the other reviewer stated...order 14 gauge speakerwire when ordering these, it's just shy of 6 bucks and worth it. These come with what I expect is 25 gauge.
I am Daniel's wife and am totally glad Daniel's research for the "Best"
speakers has ended.
I have personally had very expensive equipment in the past and have to admit I am impressed with the sound system and speakers he has chosen.
Daniel was very concerned that the product would not deliver what was promised and I have to say that these speakers deliver.
You won't be disappointed.
Don't let the price tag fool you.
unbelievable.......2007-12-01
I normally stay away from sony and would never think of buying speakers from SOny. But i needed 2 speakers for the bedroom, and they were cheap enough. When i hooked them up i was shocked how good they sound.
The sound that these speakers produce is way beyond my expectation it has a wonderful distinct, deep yet thumpy bass while it doesn't loose any of the other range.
With these speakers you do not need a woofer.
wicked!.......2007-09-28
well it's a wickedly big sound from a not so big name speaker. the speakers themself are literally big but sony? well they got this one right my friend. big time bass that is clean. i am using a 500W x 5.1 channel pioneer vsx-517 av receiver. even when it's at max the bass is tight. it fills my large living area with sound. the design is not a "head-turner" however, so i got black which is great for me. when my friends heard it they all (5) decided to order a pair as well. i'm glad i didn't pay to find out how much better sound you get from $500 JBL speakers. LOL!
Great value / very decent sound.......2007-09-26
By way of background, I bought these to replace a set of old Soundesign speakers canabalized from a bookshelf system that died long ago. They are being driven off an old LXI rack system which is still getting the job done despite the absense of micro-chips. Hooking the SSF-6000's up, I was initially dismayed by the noticable hiss at lower volumes and in the high range. To be fair, I was in such hurry to hook them up I used to crummy speaker wire provided with the set, something I will rectify soon. The speakers really do well in the low range, however. I cranked them up and went into the other room to see how the sound carried, and litterally my house was shaking. I could not beleive how powerful they are, given that at the local electronics store, they are selling the bottom of the line 2-way bookshelf for $100 and telling me that for the kind of money I wanted to pay, I could basiclly expect the same tinny quality as the speakers I wanted to replace. The SSF-6000 is a definite upgrade; I would rate them "4" if you like to listen to classical at low volume, but for the price, particularly if the music you listen to has the driving bass, easily a 5. Also, although the cabinets are solid, the covers seemed a little flimsy to me.
An Outstanding Value.......2007-09-24
I purchased the Sony SSF-6000 speakers as part of a modestly priced home theater system. A 57" Toshiba DLP HDTV is the "heart" of the system, with a Yahamha receiver and center channel, Radio Shack subwoofer, and Proficient in-ceiling rear speakers.
For the money, it's hard to imagine a better choice than the Sony's. The dual mids provide ample "oomph" for any broadcast programming or DVD. The clarity and separation are outstanding and the tweeters provide clear highs without being harsh.
If you want more than a typical "theater in a box" but don't have mega-bucks (my entire system, including the HDTV and custom installation, was right at $3,500), I'd definitely recommend the Sony speakers for your front towers.

Amazon.com Product Description
Attention, all bass lovers needing small speakers: this stately pair of Venturi DV62si bookshelf speakers from BIC America uses a patented and specially tuned rear-panel Venturi port to extend the its low-frequency response to an impressive 43 Hz, nearly a full octave below the capabilities of most bookshelf speakers--the place where kick drums kick and bass guitars growl their deepest. The 2-way speakers would suitably fill out your home theater with surround sound, enliven your dorm or apartment with music, or provide gentle background ambience in your bedroom or business.
Use one pair for stereo or surround applications or pick up 2 pairs (4 speakers) for use as the front and surround elements in a multichannel listening system. The speakers are magnetically shielded for distortion-free placement near your television or computer monitor. Video programs sound more lifelike and enveloping with timbrally matched speakers all around, and plenty of newer music formats--from the DTS surround CD to DVD-Audio and SACD--offer music from your favorite artists mixed expressly for surround-sound listening. (Alternately, you could use these as surround speakers with larger, floorstanding speakers for the front left/right channels.)
Standing just under 15 inches tall, the DV62si speakers each use a custom-designed .75-inch, ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeter for extended high frequencies and a 6-inch poly/graphite-blend woofer is light yet rigid for tight, accurate, and remarkably extended bass.
What's in the Box
Two speakers with grilles, a user's manual, and warranty information.

The 6" poly/graphite woofer is light yet rigid for tight, accurate extended bass. Rear-enclosure patented "Venturi" vent further extends deep low frequency performance. It is ideal for use with all surround and music formats.
Customer Reviews:
Really good sound, exactly the product I needed.......2007-09-30
At the same time I purchased a replacement CD player for my Onkyo system, I replaced my very old floor speakers that have got rattly and been used as a scratching post and worse by cats. These shelf mounted speakers are great improvement in sound and convenience for added room. Could not be more pleased. I am not an expert in sound systems, just want what works for me. So far, I am more than happy with these speakers.
Powerful Speakers.......2007-09-14
I bought these Bookshelf Speakers to replace some older speakers. My wife has never loved the big speaker look so I opted for these. Most people have never heard of this brand but this company is a well-kept secret. Their speakers are excellent and cost much less than the leading competitors.
Good value, no miracles.......2007-09-04
The sound is bright, detailed, pretty good overall, excellent for the price. Bass is about what you would expect from a speaker of this size and price. Finish and appearance are mediocre.
Excllent spkrs at an exc price........2007-08-29
I've had these for 3 days now breaking them in and they sound terrific. It's too bad they are made in China now but the quality is still there. Obviously the QC was carried over to China. Can't believe how good these sound out of the box, very detailed, and I don't see a reason to upgrade the crossovers like others have done. Can't beat this deal.
Great sounding speakers!.......2007-08-24
These speakers sound great - both highs and bass. Paired them with a BIC subwoofer for movies, etc. and really picks up the bass even more. Just a little bigger than I wanted but the price was great!

Customer Reviews:
Impressive little speakers.......2007-11-29
These are wonderful (rear surround) speakers for the price. They've got a nice, balanced sound, and the dual top ports allow for reasonable bass for their size.
The Venue series is JBL's replacement for the Northridge E Series, but they tend to look a little cheesier. There's a reason that the promo shots for these speakers never have the silver, cloth covers on them. All the same, good bang for your buck.
great performance.......2007-11-12
Exactly what I was looking for, for movies and stereo music, is just a great sound, for all the JBL speakers system bought from Amazon.
Great speakers for the price.......2007-11-10
not the best speakers out there but for the money they are a great pair of speakers for side and rear surround crisp clear you can hear every high and low sounds with no distortion at all i have seen these speakers being sold in other stores for more for one then what amazon is selling the pair for great speaker for the price if you dont have a fat wallet
Great speakers for the price.......2007-04-25
The best feature of these speakers is the price. For $100, I'm very satisfied. They look good on the wall as surround speakers as well. They definitely wouldn't be able to handle being the anchor or front speakers of a system, but they're perfect for surround or back speakers on a 7.1 system.
Great surround speakers.......2007-03-23
I am using these as my rear and rear surround speakers on a 7.1 stereo and think they sound great. Deep, rich sound (not tinny at all) that has really added to my home theater.
My only problem is the rather cheesy silver covers that fit on the front of the speakers. They look kind of cheap and I had one that kept slipping out (so I glued it in place.)

Customer Reviews:
Basic CB that gets GREAT reception and has clear sound.......2007-10-13
I want to change my antenna because I can only get out about 3 miles clearly, but the radio is the part of the setup that I will be KEEPING. The front facing speaker is very clear, RF gain works very well as does squelching with a 2-second delay which is very nice. Weather band is nice to have as well. No bells and whistles, but doesn't leave you wanting either.
Great radio for the price.......2007-10-11
For the price range that this radio is in you'll have a hard time finding one that is better. The reason that I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that it does not have some of the nice features of the more expensive radios, but it doesn't have their price tag either. The quality of sound from the speaker on this radio is suprisingly good with plenty of volume. The mic seems tough enough that it should last through a lot of years of use. This is a great little unit for what it costs and I would recommend it to anyone.
finally got a brand that works.......2007-10-10
this has been such a welcome addition since I went through all the problems with a different brand and still have not got the issue resolved with the factory I can't list it cause they won't publish my review but I really am happy with this one I just got one of the other 2 that I was having a problem with they are not a UNIDEN the other brand is Venomous and they are still messed up after about 6 weeks at the factory service center
Good CB.......2007-05-08
This CB has the NOAA weather bands on it and almost anywhere in the country, you will be able to pick up the local weather on one of the three channels. The squelch and RF gain dial allow you to tune out weak or staticy signals that interfere with what you do want to listen to or talk with.
A good value, all in all, and (I am told) they are made with the same circuitry that Cobras are made with for much less money.
Works great, User friendly........2006-06-30
The Uniden PRO538W works great! As long as you have a good quality antenna set up, and take the time to tune everything with an SWR meter this CB is amazing. I use it for off-roading, so the range wasn't a big concern to me, but rest assured, when properly set up, this thing can get some killer range on the highway. The ability to access weather channels is a nice feature too, I use it more than I thought I would. Having the PA function is a good novelty, when hooked to a speaker you can have a lot of fun talking to people on the street as you pass by. Great way to pick-up chicks. So overall, a great product, as long as you set it up and tune it properly. When matched with a good antenna, this CB won't be beat.

Good sound for the price. Super value........2007-08-02
I replaced the stock under-dash speakers in my 1988 Toyota pickup with these. It is a big improvement as you might imagine. They screwed right in and had plenty of speaker wire. The sound is good as long as I don't have the bass turned up too high. I accidentally ended up with 2 pairs of these--I only wanted one pair--because I couldn't find if they were sold by the pair or by each. The Technical Details section says "Item Package Quantity: 1." I guess it means 1 pair. I figured that if I ordered 1, I'd only get one speaker, but if I ordered 2, I'd get 4 speakers. Better to have too many than not enough on installation day!
Great deal for a very low cost.......2007-07-02
I got these for a Geo Metro that I got to save on gas. I did not want to put a ton of money into the speakers for a $1200 car. The car can only handle 4" speakers so I got 4 of these for it.
They do lack base as you would expect from such a small speaker but they do sound great. I may add a sub to them to get the real low stuff and then I think they would be great.
I would buy these again any day of the week. 4 speakers for less than $30 shipped to my house is a great deal and they don't sound bad at all. Anyone with stock 4" speakers in their car would do real well to replace with these. The difference for me was night and day.
Better than the stockers I replaced........2007-06-02
I can't believe these speakers only cost $14. They are lots better than the stock speakers I replaced and I'm not an audiophile.
Sounds good for the price!.......2006-08-31
Pretty good sound, has some base to it too, it's clear and so far works. Worth buying if don't want to spend more money!
Good Speakers, good price!.......2006-08-15
Speakers came well packaged with grills and mounting hardware including speaker wire. They seem to work just fine, no complaints. Good value for the money. I recommend them highly, perfect for my application. I used these on my motorcycle with a 200 watt AM/FM/CD player. Pat
Amazon.com Product Description
To fully enjoy a surround sound soundtrack, listeners need a topnotch center channel speaker, and this BIC America two-way model more than qualifies. Described as "Hands down the best-sounding center speaker I've ever heard" by a reviewer at Home Theater Magazine, the DV-62CLRS boasts a combination of state-of-the-art component circuitry, three high-quality drivers, dual vents, and a unique crossover design to produce extremely lifelike sound and imaging. The speaker is built around two 6-inch polypropylene/graphite woofers and a 0.75-inch poly dome tweeter, which team to produce an extremely wide (for a center speaker) 38 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. As a result, dialogue sounds rich and fluid, giving your DVD soundtracks added depth. Additional specs include a sensitivity rating of 90 dB, a 3.5 kHz crossover, and 8-ohm impedance.
The DV-62CLRS is compatible with a variety of amps, with a recommended power rating of 10 to 175 watts per channel. Listeners will also appreciate the speaker's attractive design, which features a relatively slim profile and a black laminate finish. For surround applications, the speakers perform particularly well when matched with other BIC America models, which are tonally matched to deliver a balanced audio profile. The company recommends using its DV84 tower speakers for the front channels, a pair of DV62si bookshelf speakers for the rear channels, and the V1215 subwoofer for top-level bass performance. All the speakers in the DV line are magnetically shielded to prevent video interference when located near a TV or monitor.
The speaker measures 20 by 7.65 by 10 inches (W x H x D) and carries a generous seven-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

Customer Reviews:
Awesome center speaker.......2007-12-16
I have owned this speaker for a couple of years and have it paired with two BIC DV64 tower speakers for my front speakers. It is a large center speaker and really puts out the sound. Most movies use this speaker for dialogue and I have found that the DV-62 is perfect for that. Great clear sound, looks great, great price. You will not be disappointed!
A good budget speaker.......2007-12-15
This is a great (maybe the best) center speaker for under $100. It is exactly what I was looking for in my game room. It has more bass than most other centers and has a higher sensitivity than most. I needed this to better match the other speakers in my setup. I can play it at low volume and it still sounds rich. It has a decent sound radius too. You can tell they did cut costs a bit though. What they did was produce a large thin- boxed ported center speaker that can produce a better base range at the cost of some accuracy. It's like a good bookshelf speaker. Make sure you have room for it!

Poor Audio Response Curve Can Be Fixed.......2006-11-29
I purchased the twelve inch woofer version of these speakers, but the fifteen inch woofer version shows the same problem of a non-flat audio response curve, so I'm posting my review of the twelve inch version here since it maybe helpful to prospective purchasers.
These speakers do not yield anything like a flat audio response. The low end of the bass is poor while the mid to upper bass is accentuated. The high mid range and the low end of the high range are also over stated. But those problems can be resolved with an audio equiliser and a test CD. Since speaker systems providing this frequency response with a flat (+-3 dB) response curve cost in the thousands, these speakers with the addition of an equiliser are a great compromise.
You need a twelve or more channel equiliser. In the best case, you should connect the equiliser in the tape monitor circuit of your receiver. If your receiver doesn't support a tape monitor function, you can connect your equiliser between your CD player and your receiver. Some equilisers provide multiple inputs, so you can connect other sound sources through it. A good 12 channel equiliser can be purchased for under $100. Your receiver may have a built in twelve or more channel equiliser, so check to see if that can tame these speakers without an additional purchase.
[...] This is a one minute MP3 file that can serve as the basis for a test CD. Open the MP3 file with Wave Pad (share ware) or similar audio editor and save it as a .wav file named G100.wav using PCM format with attributes 44.1 kHz, 16 bit, stereo. Close that file and then repeatedly do the following for 1%, 2%, 4%, 8%, 16%, and 32% speed reduced versions of the file:
Open G100.wav. Under "Tools" choose "Constant Pitch and Speed Change". In the dialog box, enter the chosen speed (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, or 32 percent) and click "OK". When the speed change is complete, move to the 10 minute point in the resulting file and select to the end of the file and hit "delete". Note that without this step, the 1% file will be 100 minutes long. Save the results as A1.wav, B2.wav, C4.wav, D8.wav, E16.wav or F32.wavas appropriate. Close the current file and then repeat the process for the next test file. Do not attempt to produce the different speed reduced files from a single loading of the initial source file - G100.wav.
When that is done, you can burn an MP3 or audio CD with the results using Roxio or Nero software. All that is left is to put the test CD into your CD player and adjust the equiliser until the resulting sliding scale sounds like it is all at the same volume. Each of the test files will present the same sliding scale at different speeds allowing you to recognise and fix narrow and broad band imperfections in the speaker response. Remember that the flatness of speaker response depends, in part, on the listeners hearing, on general room acoustics and on the listeners position within the room. You can expect your equiliser settings will need to be a compromise of all of these factors.
After doing the above, I was able to tune these speakers to a flatter response curve than my main stereo system speakers which cost over $1500 each. So, if you are willing to do a bit extra to tame these speakers, they can be an excellent alternative to much more expensive speakers. I rated these as four stars because they are a great alternative to more expensive speakers, but do require additional equipment and time to setup.
Product Description
This Pioneer Center Channel speaker features a Bass-Reflex enclosure, a type of speaker enclosure that includes a "tuned" port to increase and extend bass response (by releasing some of the energy created by the inward movement of the woofer cone). Bass reflex designs are more power-efficient than acoustic suspension designs. They will play louder than an acoustic suspension speaker when driven with the same amplifier power. This speaker has a wide frequency response that can even handle the latest in high-resolution music, SACD and DVD Audio. The center-channel speaker is critical to hearing movie dialogue.

Nice Performing Speaker for the Price.......2007-11-09
I have no problems at all with the performance of this speaker for my home theater audio setup. Gives you all you could want and more than you would expect for the price. Only thing that stops it from getting 5 stars is the visual looks - little bigger, squarer, and boxier than I was hoping. I am still working on hiding it a little bit better to stop detracting from the beautiful large screen.
NOT IMPRESSED.......2007-10-31
I am so not impressed with this centre speaker. the main problem is the low output for my large room. i have to have the volume close to max to get the dialogue clearly in surround mode. the sound just doesn't carry. this is using a 5.1 (100W x5) pioneer AV receiver. the quality is also no better than what i get from my tru picture Toshiba t.v. anyway so what's the point??? luckily i have a pair of great front speakers to rescue the surround experience. i may give this away and try another brand soon. would recommend looking elsewhere really.
You can spend more it you want to.......2006-11-29
I am not an audiophile, but I like good sound. Trying to keep a home audio system within a fairly tight budget, and having read the reviews [...], I bought the Pioneer S-HF11C center channel speaker in order to hear the dialog often missing from the television's more fuzzy sound.
I have been quite impressed with this speaker. The voices and even music from DVDs are much clearer than before. Watching television itself is a much more enjoyable experience with the center channel speaker.
This speaker is solidly built. If you are looking for a good center channel speaker and don't want (or need) to spend a lot, you won't go wrong.
The only negative is that there is a slight buzz in the speaker when I turn on the receiver/amplifier. However, it disappears within a minute. I expect it to disappear completely after the speaker is broken in.

Nice Unit - Great Price.......2007-05-14
I mounted these underneath my travel trailer and was really happy with them. Sure they aren't extremely high quality, but they sound great to my ear and the price was right. I also like how easily they come off and on the brackets. They have gotten wet and so far, no problems.
patio speakers.......2007-01-09
excellent buy . easy to hang and hook up. i have them between some plants. water doesn't bother them.
High Quality at a very reasonable price........2007-01-03
I was looking for some nice sounding inexpensive speakers for a styling salon for their background music. I needed 14 speakers to be hooked up in the stereo mode to a satellite system. These speakers were the perfect solution. Not only to they sound very good with a great frequency spectrum but they are also weatherproof and come with the mounting brackets. I will buy more of these great speakers. The service was second to none. Fast shipping and no hassles.
Great Value.......2006-05-22
I got these speakers to replace an old pair on my boat. Boat duty is rough on speakers. The installation was easy. Good hardware and terminals. The speakers are made to stand on their end or be hung from metal brackets. I used the brackets and found the thumb nuts to firmly lock the speakers in position. The sound output is good. Being on the water high back ground noise requires you to drive your speakers pretty hard. Bass is a little light. All to be seen is how well they stand up to the elements.

Despite being small (8.5 x 6 x 6 inches, W x H x D), the LS400 speakers handle 100 watts per channel and feature a 4-inch reinforced polypropylene woofer and 3/4-inch polycarbonate tweeter. They're easy to hook up and can accommodate almost any kind of speaker wire connections. The speakers have gold-plated binding-post speaker terminals that ensure high-fidelity sound, and the terminals connect to banana-plug speaker cords or bare speaker wires, up to 14-gauge.
The LS400 speakers are also easy to put in place. They come complete with mounting brackets, nonslip adhesive pads, and all the basic hardware you need to get your speakers set up, outside and inside.

Outdoor speakers.......2007-07-21
These speakers are great. I had a pair outdoors for 5 years and am adding this pair up on the deck. It is difficult to believe such high fidelity sound can come from such tiny speakers that cost so little. Deep lows, brilliant highs. They sound great. And with neighbors who complain about music I have lots of speakers at low volume through out the house and yard instead of the main speakers on extra loud, this helps keep the neighbors from complaining.
outdoor speakers.......2007-07-12
These speakers sound great on my deck. They are loud enough for the outdoors and sound nice and clear - amazing for how little they cost. These are not for critical listening, however you wouldn't do critical listening at an outdoor BBQ anyway.
Good enough.......2007-06-27
Their cheap, they look good, and they work. In this case, they were good enough.
Very nice for the price.......2007-06-14
I bought these speakers to bring music out on the patio. I installed them on the ceiling of our covered patio and hid the wires with some of those wire-hiding tubes from Home Depot.
The speakers sound great. To be honest, I haven't turned them up very loud, because I don't want to bother the entire neighborhood. But I haven't noticed any problems with the sound.
When I purchased them, I was surprised at how big they were, but once I had them installed they are very unobtrusive.
They came with a bag of screws, but I ended up using my own, as the owns supplied aren't meant for screwing into walls.
Be Very Careful With These Speakers.......2007-06-07
Ok, they ain't Bose or Altecs. They are a lower end speaker. They are built like a lower end speaker. These are not meant to get rained on and they don't do very well for a long throw. The big thing is that the bracket that comes with them is plastic! That's right, plastic!! The bracket will last a much shorter time than the speaker will. Don't bother with these unless you know in advance that they are lower end and don't expect the best performance. They also only come in white. Be aware of that too.
