Amazon.com Product Description
The electronic equivalent of a Swiss army knife or Leatherman multipurpose tool, the GPX TVWB534SP packs as many goodies as it can into its stylish, durable housing. The device centers around a 5-inch black-and-white TV--with vertical hold, contrast, and brightness controls--that's great for catching ballgames at a tailgater or keeping kids entertained in the back seat. That's certainly not all, however. The unit also comes with an analog AM/FM radio for listening to music or news reports, an instant weather band receiver that picks up weather alerts and storm warnings, a flashlight and a lantern for lighting up a dreary campsite, and a thermometer that keeps you informed of the outdoor temperature. And is if that's not enough, it even includes an emergency siren and a compass--a couple of handy items should you get lost in the mountains or the countryside. Users who want to pare down their supplies while going on sundown hikes can remove the flashlight from the plastic housing, which makes the light source far more portable. The housing charges the flashlight independently, though the light does require two rechargeable ni-cad batteries (not included). As a lantern, meanwhile, the unit offers a two-way adjustable fluorescent beam that's ideal for reading, eating, or as a general background light.
The device is appropriate for a variety of casual and serious uses, from serving as a tailgater accessory, an all-in-one emergency tool for home power failures and natural disasters, a camping gear space-saver (several camping necessities in a single package), and a survival kit for vehicle breakdowns in the desert or a mountain pass. Users have the choice of plugging the TVWB534SP into an AC wall outlet or a DC cigarette lighter adapter, or conversely they can add nine C-size batteries (not included) for portable use. Adding to the unit's convenience is a molded carrying handle and an adjustable/removable shoulder strap for longer totes. The device also includes an audio/video input (for plugging in, say, a portable DVD player), an external antenna jack, and a stereo headphone input.
What's in the Box
TVWB534SP TV/radio/flashlight, AC adapter, DC cigarette lighter adapter, removable shoulder strap, user's manual.

Wow!.......2007-05-31
I bought his for the hotel where I work. They loved it. It took less than a week to receive. We plan to put it with our emergency kit, we're preparing for hurricane season.
Love It and highly reccommend it to others.......2007-02-04
We recently had a power outage here in Syracuse, Ny. I was looking forward to watching my favorite show as the power went out. Emergency T.V. is the best!! Although it takes 9 batteries, it sure came in handy. My husband also hooked it up to our cable t.v line and it worked.

gpx NC consumer rating.......2003-02-26
I bought this portable tv.... I loved having it on my kitchen counter so I could tune in to my favorite programs. However it ceased to work a year and a half after I purchased it. I am very upset about. I am currently trying to find another that is reasonably priced.
Cool!.......2002-01-10
Cool color I love it! This tv shopping is fun. You know it takes money for what you want but for me it's a gift I am free for using.
GREAT!.......2000-08-16
i recently bought this tv because i am redecorating my room and i saw it in a catalauge. i knew i could get it cheaper on amazon, com. i have a 20 inch tv in my room, but i wanted this one to place on my nightstand simply for decorational purposes. but i find myself using it while taking a bath, because it is fully portable, and our electricity went out, and it was perfect! i have to say that i am not surprised in the quality f this product because i own many GPX electronics and that is simply a wonderful company

Don't Go Back In Time, Move Foward.......2001-07-29
It's the year 2001 And we have lots electronic ablities. LET'S USE THEM!! I only gave the item 2 stars because it has the look of 2001, but as most of us should know looks aren't everything. If we have these tecnoligies we should use them. Why didn't you put color? Why not put black and white? Well most people these days I would say would enjoy siting down with a bowl of popcorn and watching a good movie on tv. (In color) People like it better because you can see more details. Like what kind of day it is. And what a beautiful blue (Color) the ocean looks today. I don't know about the rest of you, but from my point of view this item gets 2 stars.
Picture blew after Six Months -- big disappointment.......2001-06-18
Bought this tv in December. Initially loved it. Fun color, perfect size, etc. BUT THE PICTURE BLEW -- WITH SPARKS AND SMOKE -- AFTER JUST SIX MONTHS OF USE!! VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Broke after 3 months.......2001-03-11
It was a great set, but it didn't last; the picture went out after three months.
BUYER BEWARE!.......2001-01-23
Don't be fooled by the pretty packaging. This tv is a LEMON. Three days ago, mine blew it's picture tube and nearly caught on fire in my living room! How long did I have it? 4 MONTHS! Save your money and buy a brand that's built to last.
Good size to take around with you.......2001-01-12
This is a great compactable tv. You can take this around with you anywhere, even in the car on a road trip! You can also hide it in small places.

Good cheap TV.......2002-01-18
I've had one of these for over a year now. I use it 30-45 minutes almost every day watching the news and weather in the bathroom while showering and getting ready for work. Never had a problem with it. Good picture. Okay sound.
A REAL LEMON!.......2001-01-23
Save your money, folks. I had mine for 4 months and it blew up 3 days ago. When I say blew up I mean black smoke, burning wires and melting plastic! It nearly caught fire on my end table. BUYER BEWARE. It's cheap for a reason.

Don't Buy.......2001-10-01
Cute tv - very good for the office, but after about 6 months the button to switch between tv & radio stop working. So now I don't have a tv or radio to listen to. Save your money, buy something else.
If you like the smell of smoldering plastic... buy this tv!.......2001-01-23
I bought this tv last Aug/Sept, here it is a mere 4 months later and it is already kaput. The first thing to break was the antenna. It was held in place by a dinky little plastic tab which promptly snapped off after a few times adjusting for reception. Three days ago the picture tube blew and I mean it BLEW. First a puff of black smoke and then the tv nearly caught fire in my living room! I could smell the wires and plastic melting. BUYER BEWARE! This is a real lemon and a fire hazard.
Unhappy customer.......2001-01-17
I bought this little TV for my husband for X-mas 12/2000, within two weeks the TV will not give us a picture for any station. The first two weeks we thought it was the best product that we bought, but now we're very disappointed.
not bad.......2000-10-08
THis T.V. is very handy for traveling ang keeping kids occupied in a long car trip but the reception isn't that good. It gives you a good selection of channels but you have to turn a different angle for a channel. My cousin once had to watch t.v laying down! Overall, I think this is a good product and anyone with kids should buy it.
Customer Reviews:
short life.......2003-11-04
My GPX 5" portable b/w TV is slightly less than 3 years old and has died a slow death over past four months. First, the screen started to roll and no amount of tinkering with the back of the TV would stop it. This has not been a huge problem since I use this TV largely for sound while I am doing household chores. In the last two months, the on/off switch has become increasingly unreliable. Sometimes I have been able to get the TV to click on but at other times no amount of clicking will kick the TV into gear. Last week, for four days in a row, it refused to turn on (the switch for the radio still works). So I have given the TV a proper burial. Should I have expected more from a $30 TV? I have purchased a different brand of 5" TV and will see if I get more than just over two years of good service from it.
