I took a chance and bought this. It came quickly but only lasted 3 days and then gave out. If you want to buy a charger then go with Belkin or another reliable model. This one didn't make the grade. I guess you get what you pay for.

Plug your iPod in (pretty much any model created in the past 4 years) and it will charge. Simple device, and for those that have a iPod that requires the dock connector cable, an extra one is included.
I had the previous generation charger which was larger -- this one is incredibly small and still lets you use the international changeable plugs.
You can use some powered USB hubs as well for charging iPods away from computers, but having the AC adapter is convenient for traveling.
The price isn't super cheap, but considering that the USB/dock cable included is $19 on its own, it makes the AC adapter only cost $10 -- not bad.
Not absolutely necessary for everybody. Perhaps I could have gone with a generic alternative, but would be slightly worried that it could blow up or something, and I also have some of the Apple international adapter plugs that work well with this adapter. In other words, the Apple white always looks cool and the small form factor is excellent.

This came with my ipod when I bought it. It's nice to have around to charge your ipod if you don't have a computer around. Just plug it in and it'll charge the ipod in a couple of hours, and you can listen while it charges. Does what it says it will.
Having said that, I think it's kind of ridiculous that people are calling this a "must have". Obviously, it's not a must have, there's already a perfectly good way to charge your ipod. It's a handy thing to have around if you aren't always attached to your computer, and have an extra $30 that you don't have a better use for. If you are always going to have your computer with you when your ipod needs charging, then go spend your money on something else, because this gadget is pretty redundant.

Great Charger for the geek.......2007-12-25
Really cool charger if you want full control. It is designed by someone who really appreciates batteries. It's also easy enough for a grandmother to use. I would buy another one in an instant. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because when a battery is really depleted (ie left on in a flashlight by your kids), it doesn't recognize the cell. Even if you leave it in for a long time. I have to put those batteries in another charger for a few seconds so that they have a voltage, then plop it into the BC-900. It would be nice if it would just send out a small pulse of voltage every 1/2 hour or so, so that eventually even depleted cells would start to charge. Maybe this was fixed in a new version. I've had mine for a few years now. Thumbs up!!! And you won't find another charger that gives you the information and control over you batteries that this one does. As a benefit you can rate the capacity of your batteries and get rid of the bad ones or match them up with similar capacities.
Better than my other chargers.......2007-12-25
After going through 4 or 5 chargers in the past few years, and untold numbers of batteries, I decided to get a 'good' charger. It was either this or the Maha charger for almost $100, but I honestly couldn't justify spending that much on a charger.
This charger is the best I've owned. It tells you how much charge the batteries have, and the refresh option really does make a difference.
It shows that many of my batteries aren't living up to their potential, and showed me that the ones my mom got with her cheap charger were already bad, only holding about 10% of their capacity.
It is a bit complicated, but after reading the manual you'll get the hang of it.
The C and D converter things are interesting, though I haven't used them yet.
I'm still interested in seeing if the more expensive Maha charger is worth the price difference, but I'm happy with this charger for now. This charger is only slightly more expensive than a good non-LCD charger, and having the readouts is well worth the $10-$15 difference.

Get this charger if you're constantly using AAs [or even AAAs]. I'm a photographer and I use AAs for my flash all the time and this charger is great when it comes to charging batteries and reconditioning them.
It is a bit complicated to use but once you get a hang of it it's a breeze. Take note: this isn't a rapid charger [15-30min like Energizer or Duracell found in local electronic shops]. It will take awhile to charge a set since a low current will keep batteries in their best condition.
Decent price considering an Energizer rapid charger costs about $35 plus tax.

Macally SN-A411 USB charger.......2007-09-14
This is a simple, inexpensive device to recharge the battery on the Sansa series 200 MP3 players. It includes a USB cable (apparently identical to the one that comes with the players). The Sansa players can be recharged from the cable using a computer's USB port, but the Macally device simply plugs into an A/C wall socket. I took it to Europe and used a simple 230 V adaptor for European A/C sockets and it recharged the MP3 player within a couple of hours. Its operating light turns green when the player's battery is fully recharged.

The Macally charger worked fine the first couple of times I used it.
Most recently--when I plugged it in--I got a message on my Sansa e280's screen, something about the battery being incapable of being charged.
I don't have any problems charging my Sansa with SanDisk or Griffin brand AC chargers, nor with my SanDisk base station. No error messages; all of these work fine.
Would no longer dare plugging in the Macally charger...if it "thinks" my battery is defective (when these other products don't complain), I don't trust what effect it might have on the player.
I've had the same issue (others have mentioned) with the cable falling out. Not that it matters, for a charger I'll never again be using.

I haven't had this long enough to know how it will hold up compared to the two the drill came with but being a NiCad rather then NiMH I don't expect it to last forever in my environment. Overall it was less expensive to get here then my local dealer or hardware store. What can I say. I use my Dewalt tools everyday. I am still amazed by the power of these rechargeable battery-operated tools. The batteries last effectively between 1-3 years before I wear them out. I number and date the batteries and I rotate their usage to get the most out of them. They charge (after the first time) in a half hour. They are expensive but worth it.

A Great Alternative!.......2007-11-29
This charger was purchased as a replacement for my wall socket chargers that hog up my available sockets throughout my apartment, not only are they cumbersome but most of the units on the market today only hold four AA batteries and take up both wall sockets when plugged in! My wireless desktop requires 4 double A's alone, then there's the remotes for my DVD Recorder and Television, my digital camera and mini-disc player -all of which utilize the double A type batteries. Purchasing this charger was a real space and money saver. Along with it's purchase I bought extra new rechargeables so that I can cycle the usage of the batteries (when one set dies the others get replaced in the charger).
As for the charger itself, I can't complain as I have only owned this product for about six weeks so it's really too soon to tell and unfortunately that remains true for most of the products that I purchase, -by the time I make an honest appraisal of a product it's usually updated by the manufacturer. Most important is that this unit is only one out of a very slim line of it's sort that will hold this quantity of double A's, after an extensive internet search for a charger that will hold more than four this is what I came up with. It works nicely, each set of batteries is charged seperately and when charging is complete a red indicator light appears and charging is stopped so batteries don't get fried. It's very attractive in appearance with it's grey casing and blue dust cover it doesn't create an eye sorer sitting in or on0n my television console and best of all it only requires one socket for charging, it's economical and it's "GREEN"!!! I would reccomend this product to anyone that have electronics that require the AA or AAA type batteries -or any other sort of battery. Hope this helps.

This thing saved my day!.......2007-12-11
I bought this jump starter to give to my husband for Christmas. However, today I made the mistake of letting my kids watch the DVD player in our minivan while I cleaned out the car. After about 20 minutes, I went to start the car and the engine would not turn over. We are new in town, I don't know anyone, my husband was 2 counties away, and I had to go pick up my daughter at kindergarten w/in 10 minutes. I could have called AAA, but I decided to unwrap the jump starter and give it a try, first. I was very nervous, as I had never tried to jump a car before, but the instructions were very easy. I was able to hook up the cables and start the car in less than 2-3 minutes. The battery still had a small charge--the interior lights were working, for ex., so I'm sure that helped. But this thing saved me from waiting forever for AAA, begging someone from my husband's office to pick up my daughter, and listening to my toddler scream for the duration. I am beyond thrilled, and am going to buy another for my husband, because this one's mine!

After buying the electromate 400, I am very glad that I decided to test it before relying on it in the snow. The first time I tried to jump start a car, the positive wire came out of the connector on the back of the unit, leaving a hot, large-gauge wire loose in the engine compartment. Many sparks. Bad news.
The unit itself seems capable, but the one I got was clearly defective. Be careful.

I've been using it for half a year now and am very happy with it.
Initially I was trying to recharge it after every single usage, but it's not always convenient. Last time I jump started my car 4 times before I could recharge it. Surprisingly, it still works perfectly.
Worthless Junk.......2007-10-30
I bought this because my truck is seldom driven and occasionally needs jumped. I also have a tire with a slow leak. Imagine my surprise when, after the unit was fully charged, it would not even begin to turn over the engine when I attempted to jump start my truck.
Next I tried to air up a tire. To go from 15 PSI to 25 PSI took nearly 15 minutes! I suppose if you have all day you could eventually hit 35 PSI but I finally got tired of waiting and gave up.
Is this unit capable of doing anything successfully? Not that I can tell....

Great Product Great Price.......2007-12-07
My battery died in New York City today. I drive a long bed Ford E-350 van. When I turned the key to start the van all I got were a few "clicks". I hooked the Black & Decker jump starter (VEC010BD) to the battery and in one turn of the key the engine started without hesitation. I strongly recommend this item to everyone. It's invaluable. In the past, if my battery died I would have to wait several hours for AAA to show up to get a jump start. Also consider the low price of this item by Amazon, it can't be beat.This jump starter sells for $49.95 at my local Auto Barn. I would have gladly paid three times the price I paid just to prevent being stranded in twenty degree weather waiting for a tow truck to show up. Buy one or two, you'll be happy you did.
Couldn't Jump a VW Golf.......2007-11-26
The battery in my VW Golf tends to go dead because I don't get a chance to drive it much, so I bought this product with the hope that it would start it the next time it died. I charged it exactly as was stated in the manual and it still did not have enough juice to start my car. If it has this much trouble with a small Golf I don't imagine it would work much better with other cars.
It could just be that I received a defective unit but in my experience, it couldn't get the job done.

Unsure of its quality.......2007-10-30
I purchased two of these items one for each of our family cars.
During a recent battery drain I used the booster to jump start my car numerous times but was unsuccessful (although it had two full bars indicating ample power). I had thought my starter or alternator had gone bad but a tow truck with its booster was able to jump start me on one try.
I am certain the tow truck had a more powerful booster but this unit was rated well but failed when I needed it to work. I have yet to check to see if the booster is faulty. The rest of the unit works well.
not compatible w/ all vehicles.......2007-10-28
I bought this product because the interior lights in my van are often left on and the battery drains quickly. I didn't test it, but when I needed it, it didn't work. It was not compatible w/ my 2004 Honda Odyssey or 1999 Honda Accord, but did work on a 1994 Ford F 150. I can't return it to the store because it has been over 90 days. Very disappointed in this product. I checked all the specs when I purchased it and it didn't say it wasn't compatible.
