Another Reason To Buy These Cables.......2007-07-17
Ran the cables that came with my system thru my wall and wanted to have freedom to move system without massive work for when my wife kicks me out of the family room. Now I just move my system and power cord and I am gaming where she is not...LOL!

The cables worked fine for about a year. Now the cable seems to work sometimes but for the most part it just shows purple lines going across the screen. I have to switch from regular tv to hdtv a few times to make it work. The sound always comes thru just the video has problems.

Has an AV left-right to phone jack converter. In addition to a vga dual ended cable, to connect to your CRT screen or VGA enables screens and or even video input graphic cards. Pretty cool

I purchased this cable new to go with my new hdtv. It worked fine for six weeks until I could not get a picture. I mess with the cable and get an off color picture on the screen. I mess with the cable more and it worked for two days. Now it gets a wobbly picture on the screen which I cannot get rid of. I never moved the xbox but it just started happening for no reason. What a waste of money for over priced cables.
I would spring for the extra ten bucks and get the monster cables at least you have a far less chance of dealing with the mess I have. I have had great luck with monster in the past but was too cheap and decided to trust microsoft.
Note: I bought the microsoft vga cable at a local store and the picture was horrible and might as well have been the lowest end. If you have hdtv then steer clear of anything less than component cables (monster). It is amazing the difference in quality. Also it was stupid of microsoft not to include an hdmi connection for the 360.

If you bought the core system, you get a basic cable. If you own an HDTV (720p/1080i/1080p) you'll need this component cable (or VGA if your TV has that option). If you use a DD5.1 audio receiver, you'll need the optical digital cable with connects to this cable (TOSlink).
Vs the Monster cable? This cable seems to work fine. I am able to find general 50' premium component cables on the internet for less than the price of the Monster cable. I didn't notice any significant difference in quality of Monster over the MS cable.

This is an excellent cable for the Xbox. It actually has componant outputs, as well as Svideo + Audio with a switch to switch between the settings. It also comes with a optical patch cable of some sort which I've not used for my setup, but it seems also very nice.

It may not be a Monster cable, but it works great. i have my Xbox set to HD output, and it looks great on my 1080i Plasma. the sound going into my surround sound is pretty good too for just stereo audio.

So, the Xbox advanced AV cable has s-video and optical audio outputs, and this cable has component video and composite audio out. It would be nice to have digital optical audio out and component video on the same cable. I had very little noise either on the audio or the video of this cable, and recommend you save yourself the money and not buy the Monster cable.

Great image on a HDTV.......2007-05-09
After buying a more expensive XBOX HDTV kit with horrible results, I was very relieve that this cheap cable produce an incredible image on a HDTV.
My other XBOX HDTV kit has 5.1 sound, but this cable does not. I don't use 5.1 sound, especially for games, to even notice.
This cable produces a great image in high defination. It is a huge improvement over the composite cable included with the XBOX.

Connectors too tight!.......2007-11-26
This is a great component cable for the original Xbox, however the connectors are so tight to put on. I'm not sure I'll even be able to disconnect them if I have to. I like Monster products, but they are a little expensive. These were the only new component cables I could find at the time for the original Xbox.
Not a pleasant experience........2007-11-13
When I purchased these cables about a year ago I thought I would be in for the same experience that I had with the PS2 version of these cables, which were very nice and gave me a superb picture. I knew I was in for a bad experience the moment that I tried to first use these. In order to install these I had move my TV down from the entertainment center and lay it face down so that I could put all of my weight into pushing the plugs into the A/V jacks. By the time I had put several of the plugs in I realized that some of the wires were twisted so then I made the mistake of trying to remove the plugs (who would ever want to remove A/V cables once they are in, right?...oh wait, everybody). So after several moments of struggling to get the cables back off I gave one final tug and off comes the plug...and the A/V jack with it. To make a long story short, these cables single-handedly destroyed the component video functionality of my television, which was why I upgraded my TV in the first place. So if you are thinking about buying these cables, I have a recommendation for you: buy cables that cost half the price and then just wield those cables to the back of your television and you will get the same effect for half the price.
Best You Can Get For ORIGINAL XBOX.......2007-10-31
As mentioned the cables are very tight, I thought something may have been wrong with them until I read these reviews. They are made like NO other cables I have ever seen- very thick and heavy (army grade). the picture is great, but the resolution is only as good as the media transmitting it so you are not going to do better then 480p on most games-infact I have yet to find an original XBOX game that plays higher-must be just the recent ones. My favorite game "Black" a FPS looked best with these, but again it's still only 480p.
As far as the price I bought mine on ebay. They cost $25 with shpping and that included the Monster optical cable (both still sealed). That was a private party-, but I would suggest checking there first if you are comfortable with them. Keep in mind the audio wont be ANY better if you don't get the optical cable (don't get Monster, you can get one on here for under $9).
If you want the absolute BEST price for your original xbox -this is the ROlls Royce. I read someone say why are they more expensive then the Microsoft version-because those are crap in comparison. Monster doesn't make a difference on all cables, but this is a case where they do.

Great XBOX Component cables!.......2007-10-19
I never owned component cables for anything except the xbox 360 and i use the vga cables for it. When i opened the package I noticed that the cable was very sturdy material. The video quality is great and is probably comparable to the other brands although I don't have experience using the other brands cables. It costs less than monster cable and is the same thing. I just want everyone who reads this to know that it has a regular optical port. Any regular optical cable should be able to fit it.

i love the detail of HD and these cables work great but for some reason i cant see the whole screen. the left and top are cut its not much but it can be annoying while watching a DVD but for all the games i've played Halo 2,3 gears forza and others it doesnt stop me from playing and from what ive read im not the only one with this problem i have a Mitsubishi 46"

What was Monster Cable thinking when they designed this thing? You would presume that a company with a high end audio back ground like Monster understood that their customers most likely would want to connect the stereo output to a separate amplifier and not to the input of a television set. (If you'd want to do that yu would not spend that kind of money on an interconnect.) However, the end of the cable is much to short to connect to any other device but the t.v. As I said, useless.
Damaged T.V.......2007-05-14
Not only were these wires hard to fit into my 32inch Panasonic T.V they were even harder to pull out. When I tried to twist and pull off the monster cable the cable itself broke and even damaged my new hd television port. The cables were made very poorly though Iam sure they work well based on other reviews. This was the biggest waste of money ever.
Ulitmate Experience.......2007-04-19
I purchased these cables a few months back, and I love them extremley well built and very thick which is a good thing. I play Xbox 360 on a 63" Samsung Plasma top of the line. When I connected it a put in Gears of War, I was blown away by the depth and color detail I seen compared to Microsofts flimsy component cable. Can't wait to the Xbox 360 Elite system coming April 2007 it has HDMI and I know I am buying from Monster!
Good Component Cable with some problems.......2007-02-28
First of all I would like to point out that this cable does add to picture clarity as well as bring out brighter colors. From a video stand point I would recommend this cable. However, the biggest disappointment with this cable is the lack of a fiber optical output out of the box. I would think that any monster cable would come with this standard! Even cheaper component cables come with this feature as a standard feature. Monster forces you to buy the fiber optic cable that is made specifically for the X Box 360 by including the needed adapter with this cable. As a result you are forced to spend 45-70 dollars on the AV cable and then another 25-35 on a fiber optic cable. In my case I already had several THX 1000 cables that I planned on using with my 360 and now I am forced to spend more money on a THX 400 or below just to get the adapter. As a huge monster cable fan I am extremely disappointed with the company's decision to package the product in this manner. Shame on Monster cables!
