Sharp microwave oven.......2007-12-18
Purchased a Sharp micowave oven based performance of older microwave oven that finally died. The new oven is more difficult to use in cooking frozen dishes and the control panel is difficult to see, especially for those of us that are getting older. Functionally it is working fine, but will probably buy a different oven next time that is more user friendly.
Inconvenient control panel.......2007-12-18
I was in a hurry and Amazon offered 2 day free shipping on this microwave, and I admit I didn't research this one enough. There is not much I like about this model, the control panel is very inconvenient. The start button is small and positioned between other options. The interior capacity is also small. I now know I could have purchased a model that would better suit my need, at a better price. I will probably give it away.
Avoid the Sharp R-230 (and other Sharp appliances).......2007-12-13
This microwave oven worked fine for 7 weeks.
I used it to heat soup, and for oatmeal in the morning.
One morning it just broke.
The door closed, the light and fan came on, but there was no heat.
It emitted a burning plastic smell.
Sharp service told me that I needed to have a Sharp-authorized technician examine it before it could be replaced.
Unfortunately, the nearest Sharp-authorized service location is a two-hour round trip drive for me. They don't accept shipments, nor are they are not open on weekends.
This means that in order for me to obtain warranty service on this relatively new product I would have to *take a day off work*, as it is too far to drive on my lunch hour.
Also, one cannot return a product to Sharp for examination; as per the warranty you must "hand carry" or ship the item to a service location
(if the service location accepts shipments; mine doesn't).
So I believe my current options are:
1) find a local microwave service place, and pay for the service myself
or
2) throw the oven away
I recommend not purchasing this microwave oven because it may break soon after purchase.
I recommend not purchasing any Sharp appliance unless you know that a Sharp-authorized service location is close by.
Best Regards and Good Luck!

A great basic microwave.......2007-11-25
This a very good basic microwave. It does what it's supposed to do: reheat leftovers, make popcorn, warm a pie. It does it simply - nothing complicated or over-techno. It looks perfectly acceptable on the counter and it isn't overpriced. That's what we were looking for as a replacement for our old microwave when it died and that's what we got. Good value.
Worst Microwave I've Ever Owned.......2007-11-05
Buying a compact microwave should be straightforward, right? We thought so. We purchased this one and paid more for this Sharp brand than other lesser known brands. We've had it for 5 months, and the membranes covering the buttons are about to wear through. You can barely read the buttons now, and I fear once the membrane is stripped that the buttons will be inoperable. For a simple product from a premium Japanese brand this is simply unacceptable. Try your luck elsewhere.

Just the Right Size.......2007-12-17
Sharp's 4/5-cubic-foot compact microwave is the perfect size for a kitchen with limited counter space. It arrived promptly, although with a scratch where its shipping box handles opened and exposed the sides of the microwave. The film that covers the microwave timer was also bruised. Just didn't have time to return the microwave before going on vacation. So I'm living with the slight blemishes. Otherwise, it performs well.
Not a Great Design.......2007-12-16
I purchased this after having another Sharp that
was bigger, but lasted many years. To make this
one so inexpensive, Sharp has really gone down
hill in my mind. The dim touch pad is poorly designed
and certainly NOT much of an engineering marvel.
Just how hard would it be to make the most used
touch buttons to stand out? (Like START or STOP being
bigger than the numbered buttons on this touch pad?)
C'mon Sharp--you can do much better!
perfect.......2007-12-12
we needed a small microwave, this
one had both the size and watts
we wanted.
have had it for almost a year,
we use it daily. all the controls
needed to do whatever you want.
nice microwave.......2007-11-03
the microwave is really good, and it got right on time, before I expected actually. It's bigger than I though, and very easy to use. The design is very nice.
Ideal compact microwave oven.......2007-10-03
Great compact microwave with plenty of features. I've had my oven for just over one month and really enjoy using it to quickly defrost food, reheat dinner and make popcorn. The oven is too small for a family but is ideal for one or two people.

This 3" Hi 8mm Color LCD Screen Viewcam with 16x Optical Zoom and Dual Picture Effects gives the user a picture in picture mode giving your videos a new high tech look. Digital Picture Effects allow you to select from six different effects to record the subject with a more dramatic effect. Virtual Twin Mode allows you to record two images on one screen.
Amazon.com Product Description
With its full auto mode, the user-friendly Sharp VL-AH151U Hi8 camcorder enables you to simply point and shoot to capture hours of fun video memories. It also features a picture-in-picture mode, 3-inch LCD, optical and digital zoom capabilities, and digital image stabilization.
Lens
With an optical zoom magnification of 16x, the VL-AH151U also has a digital zoom--which works by electronically enhancing the optical image--that can magnify the picture up to 400 times. The digital image stabilization system keeps the picture steady and solid throughout zooms and camera shakes.
Other Features
With its 270-degree variable angle, you can hold the VL-AH151U in a variety of angles to record over people and objects or close to the ground. You can even record yourself by rotating the view screen 180 degrees. The VL-AH151U also features several digital effects (black and white, sepia, NEG) that can be viewed without affecting the original recording.
Sharp's advanced circuitry allows recording down to less than 1 lux (the light of one candle about one yard away from the subject) and eliminates complex lighting arrangements and harsh floodlight glare. The backlight-compensation feature also adjusts only the dark parts of a shot to optimal brightness levels, and leaves the bright sections untouched, so they don't become glaringly washed out.
Contents
This package comes with the VL-AH151U camcorder, one rechargeable NiMH battery, one lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, remote control (and batteries), AV dubbing cables, wrist strap, and lens cap.

Great Service!.......2003-10-27
As a first time buyer I was a little scepticle. I e-mailed once about the tracking of my package because I'd gotten it for my wife for her birthday. Within the next day I had gotten a response with tracking info and all! The package came in right on time for her birthday. Thanks for the great service! The sharp camera works Great!
God Bless!!
SUPERB!.......2003-10-06
Works like a charm. Love it, take it everywhere and video are crisp and clear.
horrible service.......2003-04-24
I contacted this seller 15 times via emails and phones and he/she never responded. I guess s/he is dead or something. The camera I recieved was totally different than the one I pictured. I would never ever buy from this person again in my life.
thanks
Great value at a great price........2003-01-07
This little gem has all the right stuff. Auto focus with great clarity, a small price tag and a great size for carrying. I can't wait to take it to Disney World!

If you are on a budget to buy a camcorder then this is the one! I saw the new Panasoinic E- wear which was my first choice but it ... , it doesnt even have ZOOM! It does almost nothing only shoot pictures and download Mp3 . But the SHARP camcorder does alot of things and it is at a good price and it is a good size because i wouldn't buy a big bulky size camcorder !......WHO WANTS THAT!? This has a LCD screen and has picture in Picture and it has ZOOM which is the most important thing in taking pictures from far away or film something far away.

The sleek new XL-MP60 five-disc changer with play exchange features 120 watts of total power, plays MP3, WMA and CD-R/RW discs and features a multi-color, fluorescent display. A six-mode electronic equalizer and X-BASS system lets users tailor the sound.
Customer Reviews:
Sharp XL-MP60.......2006-03-24
Very good sound quality. I find the remote not very responsive. I can't figure out a way to make the clock the default display. All in all, well worth the price for the quality of the sound.
Disappointing Product.......2006-02-24
The stereo was so well-reviewed that I ordered it for my classroom. Unfortunately, it does not play cd's that I burn of any sort - I even bought the most expensive blanks because a friend thought that might help. I wish I had not tossed the packing because I would have returned it.
A great buy!!!.......2006-01-15
This was an awesome deal. I bought this stereo for my daughter for Christmas and she loves it. The price was great and it has all the features of the more expensive models. Sound is excellent too. Since its only a month old I cant vouch for how well it will stand up over time but for this price I'm thrilled with its performance and its look. I definitely recommend this stereo. As a matter of fact I plan on buying another one this spring to put on my back porch.
Nice compact player.......2005-12-09
Very good features but instructions are something to be desired. No simple explanations of terms/instructions. You have to guess what goes where, how & why!
It's okay..........2005-11-12
Pros: Compact size, reasonable price, good sound 5-CD changer that plays CD-R/W and MP3/WMA
Cons: No batteries for the remote supplied, lack of lower bass
The bottom line: I recommend this system if you want a compact system with a tuner and 5-disc CD changer that can play MP3 and WMA that has good sound and...
Full review
I bought this Sharp XL-MP60 compact shelf audio system as a birthday gift for a relative. Despite its compact dimensions, the MP60 can produce good sound and has excellent feature set to boot.
Features
The MP60 has a 5-disc CD changer that can play MP3 (including VBR) and WMA (up to 160 kbps), a stereo tuner, remote control, features two-way speakers and a subwoofer.
The system is claimed to produce 120 W of power (37.5W per speaker and 45W for subwoofer) at 10% THD. According to the manual, the speakers go down to 100 Hz and the subwoofer covers the 70-130 Hz range.
Set-up
The box was rather large and hefty, but the system itself is rather compact. I have not read the manual and, in fact, never opened it, yet was able to connect the system together and use it within minutes.
The wires to the speakers and the subwoofer are color-coded (red and black) as are the clearly marked terminals on the back of the system. The connections are of the bare wire + spring terminals type.
The two-way speakers with cloth grilles have ports in the back and the front-ported subwoofer has a cloth grille on the side.
After connecting the speakers and subwoofer as well as connecting the system to the power outlet, I tried to listen to some radio without connecting the antenna first (to see if the speakers were connected successfully). There was no sound or static noise at any indicated volume level. I started getting worried that the system was broken. Then I decided to try it after the supplied antenna was connected and the sound appeared. Do not try to listen to the radio with no antenna connected.
The system came with a remote control, but with no batteries (2 AA-type batteries are required). You need the remote to simplify the operation as well to use some of the system's features, although basic features are available using the buttons on the front panel.
Operation
The system is quite easy to use. The 5-CD changer lets you insert all five discs at the same time in the freely-sliding numbered trays that appear after you push Eject and the lower section of the system extends forward (toward you).
The system can read MP3 and WMA discs as well as CD-R and CD-RW. I tested it with CD-R MP3 discs with 140-200 songs each, recorded in different bit rates (both CBR and VBR). The discs were read rather quickly and the number of MP3 songs appeared on the display. Pushing Play started playback after a pause that lasted 1-2 seconds.
The radio reception is rather good and you can store station presets, but the manual tuning is slow - it happens in 0.1 increments and does not speed-up when the tuning buttons are pushed and held depressed.
The system has a 6-mode electronic equalizer as well as X-BASS system. This means you can select one of the equalizer presets (Flat, Rock, Jazz, Classic, Vocal, Pop) with or without X-Bass bass boost.
Sound
The sound quality of the system is very good for its size. Both the treble and the bass are reproduced well as is the midrange. The instruments are well-heard and there is no muffled sound or large Bose-like dips in the frequency response.
The system lacks the deepest bass (the little subwoofer doesn't go lower than 70 Hz even on paper, let alone in reality) and on a relative scale, the sound will not challenge anything from Athena speaker line (not even the small S.5 satellite speakers). But two Athena S.5 speakers cost more than the MP60 without an amplifier or CD changer and are quite heavy.
On the other hand, the MP60 sounds better than large 3-way KLH L853B bookshelf speakers I had for a short while and it sounds better to my ears than many Bose systems.
The MP60 can play pretty loud too. It can fill a small to medium sized room with music. Although it has an AUX input you can use to connect your TV or computer, I wouldn't use the MP60 as a companion to a large TV in the living room, but rather as a companion to a small secondary TV.
Build Quality
Although it is difficult to predict the reliability or durability of this system, I can state that it seems to be well-built and should last a long time, provided there is no abuse.
Recommendation
I recommend this system if you want a compact system with a tuner and 5-disc CD changer that can play MP3 and WMA that has good sound and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
Product Description
Developed for consumers on the go, the VL-NZ100U digital Viewcam offers a number of exciting features, in a sleek, compact design with a three-inch color LCD view screen. With Sharp's return to the two-handed Viewcam form-factor for its digital line, the company has created a line of exceptionally compact and user friendly digital camcorders. With a 20 percent overall size reduction and handy new shoulder and hand straps, it's possible to carry these camcorders almost anywhere. Each Viewcam is approximately the size of a paperback book, weighs only one pound and has both still and full motion recording capability. The VL-NZ100U digital Viewcam with digital still capture has an 8MB SD memory card included for an easy transfer to a PC and for e-mailing images easily. The 8MB SD Memory Card/Slot allows the Viewcam to operate as a digital still camera and as a camcorder. The full motion video is recorded onto a DVC tape while digital stills are stored on the supplied memory card for easy transfer to a PC. The 10x optical lens provides the best picture quality and the digital 300x zoom allows images to be captured at a distance. Digital Picture Effects allow different digital effects (B&W, Sepia, NEG) to be viewed without effecting the original recording and to give your video a custom edited look.
Amazon.com Product Description
A multitasking digital camcorder, the Sharp VL-NZ100U features a large 3-inch LCD monitor, 10x optical and 300x digital zoom, and digital image stabilization. You can also shoot digital still images, save them on the included 8 MB memory card, and then transfer them to your PC.
Lens
With an optical zoom magnification of 10x, the VL-NZ100U also has a digital zoom--which works by electronically enhancing the optical image--that can magnify the picture up to 300 times. The digital image stabilization system keeps the picture steady and solid throughout zooms and camera shakes.
Other Features
With its 270-degree variable angle, you can hold the VL-NZ100U in a variety of angles to record over people and objects or for shots close to the ground. You can even record yourself by rotating the view screen 180 degrees.
The built-in speaker allows on-the-spot playback with sound for checking and viewing video footage anywhere. An on-screen recording guide helps you line up landscape footage and can be used as a guide for easy framing of subject matter. The backlight compensation feature corrects exposure in poor lighting conditions.
The VL-NZ100U also features several digital effects (black and white, sepia, NEG) that can be viewed without affecting the original recording.
Digital Stills
The VL-NZ100U can also operate as a digital still camera. Full-motion video is recorded onto a DVC tape while digital stills are stored on the included 8 MB Secure Digital (SD) memory card for easy transfer to a PC.
Inputs and Outputs
The VL-NZ100U comes with the standard DV IEEE 1394 port (also known as FireWire; Sharp refers to this connection as iLink) for a super-fast, lossless connection to a PC or other DV machines.
MiniDV Format
MiniDV digital technology delivers clear, sharp video with over 500 lines of horizontal resolution--far superior to the 240 lines of resolution offered by 8mm camcorders. You'll also get minimal color noise interference for a more stable picture.
The camera features excellent sound quality, recorded in either 12-bit or 16-bit audio recording modes.
- 16-bit audio includes one set of stereo audio tracks to produce CD-quality sound.
- 12-bit audio utilizes two sets of audio tracks so you can easily add background music or commentary into your videos while maintaining the existing soundtrack.
This is all delivered on a cassette that's 1/12th the size of a standard VHS tape. A MiniDV tape offers a digital recording time of two full hours--20 times the capacity of a CD.
Contents
This package comes with the VL-NZ100U camcorder, one rechargeable lithium-ion battery, AC adapter, tripod adapter, remote control (and batteries), AV dubbing cables, wrist strap, lens cap, and 8 MB memory card.

Great entry-level and value.......2005-12-17
Light and small to carry, easy to use with great features like 3 gramma setting(for brightness),optical and digital zoom, extra large and sharp screen (Sharp is very good at this all the time).
Strongly suggest extra battery or a bigger capacity battery(which I got and last about 6 hrs). Video resolution is fine but pictures are blurry, and no flash so kinda dark, no firewire cable included but that's how u save money. Great first camcorder.
Broke down twice!.......2005-04-11
I really liked this camera because of the size and ability to take the pictures and videos in one. Now however I am very disappointed because after one year of use the camera broke down. The still button that takes snapshots stopped working. I can only take videos now and who knows how long that will last! I am sending this for service, hoping it won't cost me too much to fix it. Very upseting that it happened the moment one year warranty expired!
Part II - March 2007
I have had the worse experience with this camera! Do not buy it, it does not last! First it broke down as soon as the warranty expried and I sent it for service because I really liked this camera. I paid $300 to fix it and one year later it broke down again!!! I am so frustrated I am throwing this junk to the garbage. I wish I did it the first time around, I would have a new camera by now - never Sharp!
Great Camera good quality video.......2005-03-24
I have been using this camcorder for over a year now. The video is excellent as is the sound.
It transfers video to the PC through the firewire with no problem. I have used Sony and JVC Mini DV tapes with it. (iread about the TDK causing trouble. I don't have experience with that)
I have only 3 complaints.
In the sun it's hard to see the LCD screen and there isn't not an optional viewfinder.
Some of the still photos are grainy, some are great depends on the lighting.
Get the extended warranty.......2004-10-24
I have had this camera for just under a year. I bought the warranty. One day it just stopped working. Wouldn't turn on. I brought it to a repair center. It was sent back to SHARP and given all new internal parts. I don't plan to keep it, but the warranty saved me from having a very expensive paper weight.
Great paperweight..........2004-05-27
Honestly, if you are buying this item get the extended warranty if available...you could very well need it. I had it for barely a year and it worked great no complaints at all till it just quit working all together. Now it makes a great paperweight. The unit will not power up at all. Bear in mind that my unit has never been mishandled or mistreated. I have also done research on the web and have found similar reviews elsewhere. I am still trying to get Sharp to help me replace or repair it. I'd love to be able to write a retraction in the coming days that Sharp has stepped up and done the right thing. Till then...Stay tuned and best of luck.

Customer Reviews:
Nothing as Sharp as this.......2007-05-23
Re: the bad review from Shadysprings, I could not believe we were looking at the same product. I am thinking
Shadysprings must have received a machine that was defective.
After looking all over for a phone-answering machine-fax combo, I decided to try this one. Everyone who sees it wants to order one. The footprint of the phone/fax is small and efficient, so it takes up a minimum about of desk space, unlike some of its competitors. I really like the color--I saw other machines that were black or dark gray and look too industrial and depressing for a home or contemporary office. The portable handset gets a good long charge and I can go outside far away from the base unit and talk to people.
The only minor problem I have noticed is the phone that is attached to the fax sometimes "blurts out" with a burst of the sound being louder. I don't know what this is, but it happens infrequently. GREAT PRODUCT!
terrible product.......2004-06-25
does not print a fax report (manual makes a point of saying that!!) answering machine is a nightmare to operate remotely
volume control on the cordless phone is perpetually irritating
it is pretty, and that's the only nice thing i can say about it
unhappy with cordless.......2004-03-20
Wow, what a great price, and so many features. However, everytime I use the cordless, I cringe. The sound is tinny...hurts my ear, no matter how I adjust the volume. I've had a lot of cordless phones over the years, and this one was the worst. The handset was just fine, however.
It is indeed very, very SHARP!.......2004-03-16
First, I want to address "shadysprings"- I think you were sold a malfunctioning fax machine. Mine works great, in all aspects. I was able to set it up in 5 minutes and send a fax within 10 (you have to program in your information first). I do agree with the other people's suggestions that you read the manual carefully. It is LOADED with FEATURES like a 4 person mailbox. But overall, I am thrilled with my purchase. It faxes, copies, and takes phone messages, and takes up relatively little space. What more can you want?
Great machine, but it gave me a headache.......2003-07-04
I tried this machine out, and liked everything about it except that it is a thermal printer, so it would be expensive to print very much. That accounts for the 4 star instead of 5 star rating. However, the reason it did not work out for me is that it gave me a headache everytime I plugged it in. Apparently I cannot tolerate the wireless signal. I have returned mine and will have to go with a corded system. Most people are probably not sensitive to that, judging by the number of cordless systems available nowadays.
Average customer rating:
- both of them are broken
- Great camera for the price
- it broke
- One of the most frustrating cameras I have ever owned!
- Great stills, but non-Windows compatible video format

Minolta has packed quite a punch into the compact, 4-megapixel DiMAGE F100, adding a 7.5x total zoom, movie mode, and audio recording capability so you can leave yourself notes about your shots. Even better, Minolta has done a great job of making the camera fun and easy to use, which is essential in any camera, but invaluable in today's crowded compact digital-camera market.
The 4-megapixel resolution of the F100 produces very large images that are fantastic for prints larger than 11 by 14 inches. Thankfully, the F100 allows you to step down the resolution to a more manageable 2-megapixel level (1,600 x 1,200 pixels) if you need the space on your memory card.
Its 3x optical zoom lens aids in photo composition, and an additional 2.5x digital zoom (7.5x total) further magnifies your image. Remember, however, that digital zoom reduces the sharpness and detail of your image, so it's best used sparingly.
Minolta built in some great autofocus features to help make your life easier, including wide-focus area autofocus, and spot-focus areas with focus-area selection (which enables you choose a specific, narrow focus field). During our testing, the autofocus worked beautifully, and we never ended up with our target out of focus.
The F100 uses AA batteries and, disappointingly, comes with a set of disposables. We used the camera at a family gathering over the course of a weekend, and the batteries held up fine, so the power drain isn't as horrendous as in past digital cameras. Ideally, though, you'll want to buy a set of rechargeables, to help preserve your sanity, pocketbook, and the environment.
Overall, the DiMAGE F100 performs admirably and is the perfect size to carry just about anywhere. --Michael Lewis

- Includes disposable batteries--you'll want to add rechargeables
Amazon.com Product Description
Take the quick and easy route to high-quality images with the stylish 4-megapixel Minolta DiMAGE F100.
Optics and Resolution
With its 4 million effective pixels, the DiMAGE F100 captures sharp, detail-rich images. At this level of resolution, you can turn your shots into photo-quality prints that are larger than postcards or even enlargements of up to 11 by 14 inches.
A wide zoom range is an essential tool for framing the shot you're looking for. The F100 offers 3x optical zoom, with a range covering the equivalent of 38mm to 114mm on a 35mm film camera. When you've reached the limit of the optical zoon, the F100 then shifts into its digital zoom, providing an added 2.5x magnification--for a total of 7.5x zoom and a telescopic 285mm (equivalent) focal length.
The F100 features area AF (autofocus), which automatically follows the movement of your subject within the autofocus area, switching the active focusing block to make sure the subject stays sharp. Camera response is further enhanced by rapid autofocusing via to the ultrafast ASIC circuitry, a sophisticated focusing algorithm, and quick lens adjustment. You'll get focusing speeds of approximately 0.35 seconds at the widest lens angle and approx. 0.5 seconds in telephoto (1 meter).
More Features
A movie mode captures video clips with sound. Depending upon resolution, these clips can last up to 35 seconds. Movie files are recorded in JPEG format (320 x 240 pixels). The limited length and resolution of these clips guarantees that this feature won't replace your camcorder, but it's perfect for when you just want to capture a quick movie and e-mail it to a friend or relative.
The F100 is also equipped with audio-only recording, which can be a convenient tool for taking notes. A single clip can be 30 minutes long, and is stored as an 8-bit uncompressed wave file. Playback is not included.
Keep a record of where and when you took a particular shot by adding an audio caption to it. Captions are recorded after image capture, and can be 5 or 15 seconds long.
The built-in flash features a TTL (through-the-lens) flash metering system, and has a variety of selectable flash modes. When the camera is set to auto, you have four modes to choose from: auto, manual fill-flash, red-eye reduction, and flash cancel.
Power
The included CR-V3 lithium battery provides power. You can also use a pair of AA batteries.
We recommend getting a set or two of rechargeable nickel metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries and a charger. A digital camera is power intensive, especially if you're using the camera's LCD display, so they aren't recommended except in a pinch. To ensure you'll always be ready for action, we recommend having two sets of rechargeables so you can always have one set in the camera and the other set in the charger.
Storage and Transfer
Images are stored on Secure Digital memory cards. Consider the included 16 MB card a starter capacity, since its 14-picture limit means you'll need to return to your computer often to transfer images and free up the card for more pictures. A 64 MB card will store nearly 60 images taken in standard mode at a 1,600 x 1,200 resolution.
To transfer images to your computer, simply attach the included USB cable between your PC and your camera. Your computer should automatically recognize your camera and let you move the pictures to your hard drive.
Size
The DiMAGE F100 is easy to carry around on all your photo expeditions, coming in at just 4.4 by 2.2 by 1.3 inches and 6.5 ounces.
Contents and Recommended Accessories
The package includes the DiMAGE F100 camera, CR-V3 battery, AV and USB cables, hand strap, software suite, and 16 MB Secure Digital memory card.
Everything you need to get started is included in the box, but we strongly recommend the addition of a larger memory card, an extra set of rechargeable NiMH batteries and battery charger, and a compact carrying case (for protection and to keep pocket lint out of the viewfinder).
Customer Reviews:
both of them are broken.......2005-07-28
I owned this camera and I used one at work. Both of them malfunctioned after about 1 year (lens extension motor stuck open). Also, battery life was terrible. Constantly changing out batteries even when using 2300 NiMHs. LCD viewfinder was useless outdoors.
Great camera for the price.......2005-02-27
This camera takes great pictures and I love the Area Auto Focus that lets you tell the camera where to focus.
My major problem with it is that the selector dial sticks out and can turn when you put the camera in your pocket. This has happened several times and I think it damaged something because the focus stopped working after 4 months of ownership.
Other than that, it is very slow but takes great pictures.
it broke.......2004-11-10
i love the quality of the pictures, and it'sfun to use, but the motor broke beyond repair right after the warantee was over. wouldn't buy another one.
One of the most frustrating cameras I have ever owned!.......2004-09-11
I have owned several cameras but this was my first (and last)Minolta and the worst camera in my experience. I really thought that the Minolta name implied a certain degree of high quality - I was wrong. What good are 4 Megapixels if the camera can't be used in normal circumstances. (Stick with Canon, Nikon, Olympus and even Kodak)
Pros
--Excellent clarity and true colors at close range (outdoors in good lighting only)
--Almost always excellent photo quality outdoors in daylight
--True flesh tones and colors
Cons
Battery life is horrible - Even with the expensive enclosed battery I operated the camera for about 30 pictures before wiping it out.I wound up buying 8 rechargable AA batteries (2100ma) and constantly had to change them out
--digital display had to be kept off in order to save battery life
--impossible to use in low light for subjects beyond 6 feet
--camera took over 10-15 seconds to adjust itself for dim indoor use - you will miss a lot of shots (People posing for these shots always wound up with a look of irritation that the shots were taking so long to take.)
--terrible photo quality (clarity and color) results indoors or outdoors in dim light. Camera can't focus and adjust beyond 6'
--The lens takes forever to telescope in and out when turning it on or shutting it down.
--Terrible preset adjustments don't improve performance - almost always make it worse
--Manual settings are very difficult to set due to the maze or menus you have to navigate through
--Anything above a 100 ISO setting produced so much noise thatthe pictures were rendered usless
-- very long refractory time between shots - takes forever for it to recharge itself between pics
-- takes a very long time to save each pic
Great stills, but non-Windows compatible video format.......2004-07-07
This is a good camera for awesome still photos, but don't get too close; tend to be blurry. And even in macro mode, you have to be perfectly still (tripod) as well as your subject. The lens did get stuck once, but has worked fine since.
My biggest pet peeve is that the video only records in .mov format. Only RealOne can play that. I cannot use it with Windows Movie Maker, as only Macs can. I wish it could have an option to record in .avi or .mpg formats.
So, when my husband lost it a month ago, I was a bit upset, but glad that now I can get a camcorder that records in a Windows
