With its built-in docking station and clean, contemporary design, the iHome iH5 clock radio is the perfect complement for your Apple iPod digital music player. Not only does the iH5 let you listen to your iPod music free from cumbersome headphones, it also lets you fall asleep or wake to music you've loaded into your iPod. You can also wake or sleep to FM/AM radio or wake to a traditional buzzer.

The compact unit measures roughly 9 x 3 x 6 inches (W x H x D) yet comes complete with stereo speakers, drift-free digital FM/AM radio tuning, a multifunction LCD with adjustable backlighting, and the ability to charge your docking iPod's battery right from its center seat. (The iH5 includes handy inserts to accommodate any type of docking iPod: gen 3, gen 4, iPod mini, or iPod photo.)

Immediately upon plugging it in and the clock will set itself, drawing on its factory-installed 100-year calendar (year/month/day, 2000 to 2099). The clock will maintain accuracy all on its own, even self-adjusting for Daylight Savings time and leap years.

Fall asleep to your favorite station or a carefully chosen iPod playlist using the unit's programmable sleep timer (15 to 120 minutes in 15-minute increments). Gradual Wake and Gradual Sleep features will increase (with on wake-up) or decrease (on sleep) the system volume so as not to startle you. Adjustable sleep volume lets you select a comfortable "sleep" volume level without affecting the wake-to or listening volume levels.

A supplied analog audio interconnect affords hookups with non-docking iPods, other MP3 players, cassette players, or other audio devices. Other features include automatic frequency control (AFC) for enhanced FM reception, an amber backlight on all primary buttons, and optical knobs for precise volume/tuning.

For extra security, if you've selected iPod as your wake-to source and your iPod isn't docked, a buzzer will sound instead. The clock also comes with Sure Alarm battery backup--just install 2 AA batteries to activate the feature. In the event of a power failure, or if you disconnect the AC power cord to move it, the Sure Alarm system will maintain your clock and alarm setting for the life of the batteries, ensuring that the alarm will sound at the set time.

I purchased this last year with the iPod Nanos for my teenage daughters. They use it everyday and often move it from the bedroom to the bathroom to play music during showers. We have had zero problems with it and we have used several different iPod devices and all have worked flawlessly.

I've had it for two years, and I'm quite happy with the sound that it can produce. (It pumped out the tunes for a good new year's eve dance party two years ago.) However, the screen never gets very dark, so it can really seem to light up the entire bedroom when you wake up in the night and your eyes are used to the dark. Also, the click-wheel on the right is starting to break. So, overall, "good" value, but not great.

Easy to use, decent radio reception and compact size perfect for bedside tables. Sound quality not as good as the Bose but then its much less expensive. Would recommend for bedroom use but probably not so strongly as a main ipod sound system dock for living rooms, etc.

I bought this thinking it would be great to wake up to the music of my choosing. While it is compatible with my IPOD, there were a couple of big flaws causing me to regret my purchase. First, the volume that the alarm is set on is set incredibly high. So unless you like to be blasted out of bed in the morning, it is incredibly unpleasant. Second, the backlight for the clock/date...etc. is super bright. On it's brightest setting, I can read to it. On it's lowest setting, it just keeps me up all night. I've had to throw a sheer cloth over to dim the light enough for me to sleep,...though it's still pretty bright....and annoying.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE ITEM ALTHOUGH I PURCHASED IT FOR A GRANDSON IN NEW YORK AND I LIVE IN ALABAMA. I TRAVELED HOME TO NEW YORK TO GIVE TO MY GRANDSON AND FOUND IT WAS THE WRONG SIZE. HE HAS A REGULAR SIZE IPOD. I SEARCHED THE WRITE UP ABOUT IT AND COULD NOT FIND WHAT SIZE IT WAS FOR. IT SHOULD HAVE HAD A MORE SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM. IT WAS FOR THE SMALLER SIZE IPOD AND NOT BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE THESE ITEMS, IT WAS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO PURCHASE WITHOUT MORE SPECIFIC INFO. BY THE TIME I PURCHASED IT AND HAD IT DELIVERERED TO ALABAMA. WRAPPED IT AND TOOK IT TO NY. I UNDERSTOOD THE TIME FRAME FOR RETURNS HAD PASSED. To new to give a great appraisal, but so far so good. Bought this not knowing anything about Ipods. This product will work with the Ipod Nano with the supplied cable.

My son received this product as gift. When I plugged it in, nothing happened (apparently the quality control team was on vacation the day that this one was built).

I called "customer service" and was told that this model was not a good one and that I should buy a different model.

I choose not to do business with a company with poor products and poorer "customer service."
