So I love this clock...but it's really too bright. It lights up the whole room. I bought this clock so that I could listen to relaxation CDs to fall asleep...but...when the CD player is on, the clear rounded part that holds the CD lights up like a darn Xmas tree. I have to put something over this clock to make the room dark..other than that..It's great.

This item is easy to set (time and both alarms) and has fairly good quality sound although the reception is poorer than my previous radio. The main complaint I have about this product is that -- having an alarm as one of the features -- it would seem to me that most people would keep this by their bedside, like me. The problem is that the light eminating from the clock is a bright blue and illuminates the bedroom. I have to physically cover the part of the radio where the light resonates from at night or face away from the radio.

Ordered ALOT of these (approx. 80) for my workplace (skilled nursing/rehab center). Half went to each of the patients rooms and the other half went to staff who really liked them (quality is good, considering such a low price that I paid for these (9.97 each). Great features and easy to us(CD/Clock and radio). Not the best radio, but hey, it was only 9.97 each!

I can't believe all the 1 star reviews. Maybe it's just because the 3 I bought all work great. I actually LOVE the bright blue light. It doubles as a perfect nightlight for my son's room. The CD and radio both work great (the tuner is merely ok, but for 9.97 people!)
Taking into consideration the price, quality, utility, style, etc it is a 5 star value!!!! I would be happy paying 19.99 for the unit (but I am glad I got them for 10 bucks each!)
I bought one for my room, my daughter's room and the baby's room! I will update this if any of the ones I bought break down, but I sure hope not!

I ordered this for my daughter (6) who wanted to wake up to music on the radio. As it's hard to find a radio station locally that plays anything appropriate for a girl her age in the morning (and music), I thought this would be the way to go. Unfornately, the CD player wouldn't read CD's. These were commercial CD's, not CD-R's, but the disc would spin and the player didn't read it. In the meantime, we found something else in a brick and mortar store so decided to return instead of exchange this model. Amazon was great about the return.

The hiss of the mechanism was louder than the music, and it even buzzed just sitting there doing nothing. Also, the instructions, written to be understandable to any language, were incomprehensible. I'm sending it back; I found something far better for less than half the price!

I felt like I got a lot for my money with this thing. The CD player isn't the greatest, but for $30, I didn't expect it to blow the doors off. It's fine for listening to some music as I fall asleep. The real reason I like this clock/alarm, though, is that it doesn't skimp on the sleep/wake features. There's a dual alarm, wake to music, wake to alarm, snooze, automatic shut off... I've been limping along for the past couple of years with a plain old clock radio that didn't have any nice alarm features, and though these are nothing high tech, this is a good solid little unit for the money.

This does what is supposed to do. The FM radio has an external antenna, which greatly improves reception if you are trying to tune in a station with a weak signal (a problem I have in my area). I like the (almost) flat top (this is where I place my glasses at night).
The downside: The radio does not have digital tuning (you use an old style rotary dial that allows the radio to wander off the frequency); the radio tuning indicator (showing the frequency you are tuning into) is very small, on the top of the radio and is at best an approximation of the frequency; the alarm set button (to turn it off, set it to sound or buzz for the alarm or to just turn on the radio/CD player) is set low on one side, is almost smooth, making it difficult to feel and use in the dark; the numerals on the face for the time wash-out in any light, making it unreadable.

I bought a 7" TV (product review is on its own page), and this GPX clock radio at the same shot. I am very disapointed to say that both items were a complete waste of my money. I had to send the clock radio in since it didn't work at all and I have had all of the same problems listed from other buyers on my junk TV. I would steer clear of any GPX product.

At first this seemed better than most CD clock radios: the display was maybe a little dim but fine at night, the speakers sounded pretty good and radio reception was fine. The lack of a tuning dial or display (the unit scans upwards from the low-frequency end of the FM spectrum one station at a time) was fine for us as we only listen to the "left-hand" stations. But within a few months the "set minute" button broke, requiring us to remove it and stick a pen in the hole to set the alarm or clock. Then the clock started running fast on occasion. And now the CD player no longer recognises that there's a disc inside -- it doesn't play at all. So now in less than a year our CD alarm clock radio is basically a displayless FM radio and CD storage holder.

One feature I do not like about this radio is that you have to "scan" for your station, there is no manual tuning. Also, the clock is very faint and difficult to see in the daytime. The sound is OK, about what I would expect.

Fortunatly or un-f I live in St Louis where you return your defective unit to. I first purchased the KCCD300 model & it lasted 3 days. Accidently noticing that it was a St Louis address I drove downtown to their company headquarters bldg. No problem. Here is a replacement for you (an upgrade version) KCCD6815DT. Took it home installed it and that ALARM goes off and again and again. Have only played cd's twice so we'll see where that goes. FYI they are made in China shipped to St louis then redistributed nationwide. As previouse reviewers have stated-yes it is junk. Since I only paid $25.00 I'll chalk it up to buying on a whim - cheap price cheap item.

Hi Everyone that reads my review. Please do not purchase this product. It is more aggravation than it is worth for only $59.99. The price is great but it is a piece of junk and a very poor quality that GPX is marketing and very terrible customer service. I was so dissapointed because I do like the style of the cabinet and the slim line feature, the size of the remote and a special holder for it and all the little extra radio band features it has and it does not work!
The last one I returned was December 29th and finally after 2 phone calls to GPX customer service they send us one 1 month later. Unfortnately they did not test this unit before they send it to us and this one the alarm still sounds off and cancels all the programming and the clock goes back to 12:00 and they send us one with a dead battery in the remote control which also did not work. Even though we send them a letter not to send us one until they resolve the problem or upgrade me to one that works! After a second phone call by my husband to customer service whom he had to be harsh with over the phone to started getting some answers from customer service representative. Customer service finally told him that they have finally have an engineer working on their warehouse inventory of them and he is suppose to do something with the program so that this alarm function will not work. I thought what a way to solve a problem than trying to fix the design or re-design this unit so that it does not have this feature. Hopefully this customer service representative was not lying to my husband just to get him off the phone with her, which we both question? Also why can't they come up with something to inform its customers to keep their unit and as soon as they have the problem corrected they will be notified for a complete replacement, of course they won't do something like that! At this point if they do send me one that they dismantel this alarm feature and the rest of the unit works correctly, we would be some what satisfied customer just because we would not have to deal with GPX anymore! My husband and I are so fustrated returning this unit so many times and this is our 5th one between Amazon and GPX consumer services. One thing I have a biggest grip is that they do not communicate with their customers they do not send any type of feed back concerning your return. The only way you know if you added tracking to your shipping cost so you can track it on-line or giving customer service a direct call which cost you money since it is not an 800 number. (Probably the reason they don't they are probably get many back by the 1,000's in their warehouse from consumers and companies that are selling their products).
If you have to send one back make sure you track it and keep all your paper work. We are sending another one back today and see how long it takes for them to send us one and my husband is requesting they test it before they send it to us and we are requesting re-inbursement for our shipping cost. Every time you send one back it cost you approximately $10.00's including shipping with insurance which they request in order for them to pay for shipping a new unit to you.
We will see how this goes? I have a feeling they will send us another one with the same problem. My husband and I will continue to keep at GPX until they get this right! I guess we are a very unusual consumer of their product, the customer service representative even remembers are name. So please any of you that have this product and gave up don't! Maybe they will finally take this product off the market or fix this product. My husband and I do not feel we should have to take a loss for purchasing such a poor quality product as a consumer. If this product is market very poorly they should not be selling them even if it cheap at Amazon or any other store you can purchase them.

I found the same problems, Weather alert kept going off for no reason and the unit kept resetting itself so even if you turned off the alarm it would come back on when the unit reset itself! I am STILL waiting on the UPS pick up to return the item to Amazon and it has been 3 weeks and 2 calls and numerous e-mails to Amazon. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!
Power keeps resetting and alarm going off!.......2005-06-09
This seemed to be a great buy. We got it on sale at Target for like $35. However, it had this alarm that came on by default and would start going off all the time. The terrible manual didn't tell how to get it to go off. We finally figured that out, but even with batteries in it, and plugged into a surge protector, it kept resetting itself and that alarm came on by default. We were woken up in the middle of the night and weren't too happy about walking into the kitchen to turn it off. I've never gotten any other GPX product, but don't plan to. Their web site was no help and terrible documentation that came with this product.

Since I got this alarm clock I don't have to worry about over sleeping. I'm a heavy sleeper and this thing wakes me up fast. I needed something loud and something I could set without using all my brain power. This clock was easy to set up and program the alarms to the time(s) I needed. The CD player isn't the best thing but I didn't play this to double as my bookself CD player.

This radio was so bad, I threw it out! The CD player broke in a about a week, you needed a PHd and a book to set the alarms. It ended up in the trash.

The product in general is pretty nice, but has a few serious minusses:
It's not real easy to work with: it's not very intuitive; I found setting the time and alarm complicated; and the manual is not a big help: the instructions are not very clear.
The real disappointment comes when you turn off the lights in your room: the blue display fills the room with an annoyingly blue light(glare), even in dimmed mode !
I will give it a try for a few more days; but I think this is a candidate for return.

Bad design.......2004-02-28
I bought this clock a while ago and am actually buying a new one now because of how annoying this one is.
The thing that annoys me most is that it takes forever to set alarms. My old alarm clock that I no longer have let me press hour/minute simultaneously to set the time to 12AM. This was really useful for reseting my alarm time. This clock however, forces you to hold the fast button and it takes 1 second per hour to advance, so you're there holding it for 23 seconds if you want to set your alarm clock back one hour, versus my old clock, where I could just hit both buttons, and then click the hour button 7 times for 7'oclock.
Yes, it has 2 alarms, but I actually have to change them quite often and end up getting annoyed every time. Also, the metal strip on top is super sensative, so if you reach over to click one of the buttons on top, you often inadvertently hit the metal strip, which nullifies whatever button was pressed, forcing you to learn how to arch your hand in a way as to hit the button without brushing the strip. One other thing, is that the plastic door for the battery compartment falls out incredbily easily. It literarly just falls off when you move the clock.
Anyhow, I would really not recommend this clock, it wasn't even worth the $10 or whatever I paid for it.

For a cheap dual alarm clock, this is perfect. My only complaint is that the Snooze Sensor is hard to get to work when you are just waking up. But, it is quite good for the money.
