I've had the ic200bk for about 8 months now, and I haven't noticed any buzzing noise at all. Mine has great bass response and general sound quality. The only problem I have had with it is that I would sometimes trigger the touchless snooze and accidently turn of the alarm, and then go back to sleep, but I just covered up the sensor. Maybe Emerson put out a defective lot of them, but mine works fine and I would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this item about six months ago. I thought it would fit the bill, boy was I wrong. First of all, you can never memorize the buttons, there are just to many and laid out terribly. I am constantly hitting the wrong button or need a light in order to see what I am hitting.
Secondly and most unfortunelly, instead of charging my IPOD it drains it. Now this may be a malfunction, but I replaced my IPOD because it kept having issues, well it wasn't the IPOD it was this lousy radio.

Nice looking but poor features........2007-09-23
This doesn't have a tone control, or a stereo/mono switch, a remarkable oversight. There is usually less static in mono mode, but because this radio doesn't have this option, you'll almost always be hearing more static/noise than you want, unless you're always tuned into a very close station. Also, volume levels 1-15 are basically all the same, and even the higher ones aren't loud enough. It does have a sleep and nap timer with 1 minute increments, a highly desireable and rare feature, and also an input jack for non-ipod mp3 players, but the shortcomings I described don't compensate for this. I'll return this tomorrow.
Just What I've Been Looking For...........2007-09-07
I don't know if they have "rev'ed" this item since the bad reviews were posted but I'm very happy. This is a $70 alarm clock with iPod dock and for the price it works and sounds fine. I've tried two other iPod clocks(extremeMac Luna and the latest iHome) and they both came up short. I have a few need for an alarm clock.
I want to go to sleep listening to audio books on my iPod
I have to have a gradual ramp up buzzer alarm.
The radio has to work reasonably well on AM and FM
The Luna was great but the radio was useless to the point of it not really being a clock RADIO. The iHome was better in that respect but you couldn't have an iPod connected and use the gradual alarm buzzer.
The only issues I have are the lack of a 5G dock (see review below) and the fact that even on the low setting the display is a little bright. This is a common complaint on iPod alarm clocks. I don't understand why the designers of these products can't get it though their heads that an alarm clock display needs to be really dim in the dark. Don't they test these things? Auto dimming would be even better so you can see the time clearly in daylight.
But I'm finally satisfied.
inconsistent.......2007-08-26
after four months the power button on the top of the unit ceased working and the unit could not be turned on. Amazon sent a replacement even though it was after the 30 days .... the second unit remote sensor did not function... the third unit was received and set up and seems to be working - but it is only the first week... so although i thought it was a good value ... i have been disappointed by the quality of the actual physical product.

Loses correct time.......2007-08-27
I bought this item and was pleased with it the first two weeks. Then I noticed the time was wrong one day. I thought maybe the power went out, but hey!! isn't this supposed to reset time itself? I ignored, changed it to correct time and about a week and a half later it did the same thing. It was about 45 minutes off. Changed the time back again, then a couple of weeks later, same thing, it was an hour behind. I am exchanging it today for an iHome which is what I wanted in the first place. If it can not keep time and wake me up at the right time for school, what good is it?
Piece of Junk--Beware!.......2007-05-17
I've had two of these. The first one died after a few months. The second one lasted about a week. The time is now showing a constant 32:50, whatever that might be. The second unit hummed quite loudly while playing music, and the display is too bright even on its dimmest setting. You can use it as a nightlight. I hate these and wish I still had the box so I could take it back. Not recommened at all!
Buyer beware: no quality control?.......2007-01-09
I purchased 3 of these units and had to return each as they emitted a loud 60-cycle hum when turned on, with or without an iPod connected. Evidently Emerson doesn't check these things before they leave the factory. So: buyer beware!
Without the hum, this might have been an OK unit, except for the excessively bright digital display, with no way to turn it down.
Screams for an external antenna.......2007-01-06
Device is chock-full of neat features, like the built in back up battery, the self-setting clock, the preset radio stations and digital tuner, and the heat-sensitive snooze button that lets you just wave your hand in front of the display rather than whacking random buttons until silence is restored.
The sound quality is respectable.
The greatest trouble I have is with getting a clear radio signal, AM or FM. You can the alarm at night and have excellent clarity while your hand is on the device, but when it goes off in the morning and you are two feet away, prepare for an earful of static. I should add that I live in a one-story single-family home - so I'm not in a huge metal building - other radios I own with external antennae have excellent reception.

I lost track on how many times I forgot to set my alarm clock Sunday night to wake me up Monday morning. But not with this alarm clock, this is the only alarm clock radio/ipod system that I program once and never touch it again.
it's the year 2006 and there is no other real alarm programmable alarm clock on the market. I love it. Sounds great, good sturdy remote. the only draw back is that it is a bit bright.
