The Digiview PCR102W Atomic Projection Alarm Clock is not your standard looking bedside alarm. This clock is shaped like a sphere on a tapered, circular neck that serves as its base. The clock's overall appearance looks like a helmet from the old-time, deep-sea diving, but in place of lens on the front, the clock has a backlit time and calendar display. Digiview doesn't stop with a simple LCD display -- the PCR102W also projects the time in red on a wall or ceiling from a small bump on the top of the clock. This clock is equipped with daily crescendo alarms with five-minute snooze functions. The PCR102W is perfect for a nightstand, dresser, shelf, or any other flat surface.
The three-line backlit LCD panel shows the current time, month, date, weekday, and either the "alarm 1" or "alarm 2" time. The LCD panel backlight is equipped with an auto-off function that is easy-to-read, day or night, but it doesn't waste your battery life by staying on too long. Aside from the unique shape of the PCR102W, this clock has a clever and lighthearted color design with a translucent dark sea-blue body color and light blue trim, pushbuttons, and switches. The trim ring around the clock's base is a soft, rubber-like material that won't slide around easily and also protects furniture surfaces from scratches or dings.
The PCR102W is amazingly accurate. It calibrates itself to the world's most accurate clock every night by receiving WWVB 60kHZ radio transmissions. These transmissions contain time information from the U.S. atomic clock source operated by the U.S. Commerce Department. The time can be displayed in 12-hour format with AM and PM, the month and date are displayed digitally in that order, and the weekday is displayed as a two-letter abbreviation in English, Spanish, or French. Successful reception of the time-sychronization radio signal and signal quality are indicated by a radio tower and waves icon just above the clock's seconds display. After synchronization occurs, you can select your continental U.S. time zone, and a U.S. map icon in the upper line of the display indicates the selected time zone. This clock even automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time.
