Too much buzz.......2007-12-24
This product was returned because of the incessant buzz. I could not find an fm frequency that worked well, and the product was hard to use. Frequency change was not intuitive.
DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM.......2007-12-12
The first one I got was out of order and I had to return it. The replacement lasted only 2 months since it broke into pieces. On top of that, the receiver was so weak that every certain miles I had to reset it - while driving. The connector to the ipod is probably the least user-friendly connector I've seen. I bought it because I've had execellent experience with Monster products in the past, but truly, I cannot believe how bad qaulity this product is.
The best I've tried so far........2007-12-07
This is the 4th transmitter I have tried and it has the best sound so far. It's very clear and low to no static. I've tried a Belkin, a DLO and a Monster iTrip. I haven't used it long, but so far so good. I'd recommend it.
Better than the rest!.......2007-11-27
I bought iCarPlay a few weeks ago after purchasing several other fm transmitters. The Monster is the best yet! I have a Honda Accord and it would not pick up a clear signal from any other transmitter. Then, I bought the Monster. Its signal came in clearly on all three channels. Switching channels is easy with the lighted presets. I am very happy with the product and wish I had not spent $99 on an inferior transmitter.
A GOOD BY FOR THE PRICE.......2007-11-26
I AM HAPPY WITH THE ITEM. ONLY BAD PART IS BECAUSE IT IS DIGITAL, IT IS HARD TO SEE THE STATION IT IS SET TO DURING THE DAY TIME.

Never got the package on time.......2007-12-24
Wherever Amazon orders this product from -- never arrived for Christmas -- even when ordered 2 weeks before the holidays!
Defective Unit- Horrible Customer Service.......2007-12-17
When I hooked my 3G Nano up to my car with the 33199, I heard music for 1 sec before it went dead and froze the I-pod. Resetting the I-pod restored it but the same thing continually happened. Tried it in another car...same thing. Calling customer service will take you to some far-away land where people have extreme difficulty comprehending english and are flummoxed if you say anything that is not in one of there 'scripts'. After phoenetically spelling my name, address, e-mail, etc at least 3 times before they had it correct, they are hopefully sending me a new unit....BUT the service rep said THEY NO LONGER MAKE MODEL 33199, AND ARE REPLACING IT WITH MODEL 33411,
so I wouldn't even bother ordering this unit, and my experience with technical service was so frustrating, I will never buy a Kensington product again.
FANTABULOUS!.......2007-12-14
Plug and go ... awesome little gadget. Only issue came up when in New York for a weekend. Fewer radio frequencies to choose from which I suppose happens in all metropolitian areas. Highly recommend for anyone with iPod and car not pre-wired.
would be awesome if it still worked.......2007-12-13
I bought this product about 8 months ago, expecting it to last a while. About a month ago, the protective black plastic over the port that plugs into the iPod came off, revealing whatever material is underneath, but no wires or anything. I use this thing every day, on the way to work and back, on the way to the gym and back, etc., and thought it would be durable enough to handle multiple daily insertions. At first, the adaptor was unaffected, but in the past couple weeks, the audio quality has been horrible, scratching in and out from nothing, to only bass, to full blast--on radio stations that worked perfectly before. I know it doesn't have anything to do with the iPod itself, because I can still listen to it clearly using a pair of headphones.
This product was a dream until the port's covering fell apart. I guess you should be really careful with it and not carry it around in a purse, where it can jiggle around all day.
Nothing compares.......2007-12-12
I bought one with my iPod nano 8g and it failed. It was my fault, however. I let the end that plugs into the iPod fall on the floor of my work truck and my water jug sweat onto the end and the tiny terminals inside completely disappeared within a fungus-like layer of corrosion. I quickly acquired a much cheaper replacement thinking all are the same and I quickly discovered they aren't. Not even close. This tuner is far superior in every way. In this niche, you get what you pay for. I bought a Belkin and let's just say after two months of unreasonable static (I couldn't hardly make out music 90% of the time, seriously), it lit my rather short fuse for inferior junk and ended up being the centerpiece of a hammer-smashing party. I destroyed it to oblivion and smiled with retributive glee until my peers became concerned. I quickly went back online and spent the extra money for my lovely Kensington. My life has actually improved since. The difference: Kensington is a high-quality digital tuner and my Belkin was not digital. I can even put it in my work truck and tune a radio about twenty feet away on a jobsite or even another car or house radio. I love it.

Customer Reviews:
Great idea........doesn't work.......2007-12-26
Apparently Monster has some real quality issues, this is my second bad experience with their products. Unit intermittantly stops transmitting, have to unplug to reset. Autoscan......great idea....needs more work. 120 sec to scan and you still have a busy station. Amazon was great on the return policy though, prepaid shipping.
Excellent Product!.......2007-12-26
This is an excellent product - works exactly as advertised. I highly recommend it, especially if you live in a city with lots of frequencies in use.
Great Product.......2007-12-24
Does go out from time to time, but that's mainly due to the fact I live in LA and there are no free radio stations anymore. Great deal!
Auto scan is a great addition.......2007-12-18
I have tried the old monster cable and wasn't very happy with it as there was a lot of static with it. This auto scan cable allows you to do a search to find the clearest channel. We've had the new cable for about a month and would recommend it to others.
do not purchase if you have the ipod touch.......2007-12-04
I purchased this product last week because a few people i know have used this and said it is the best fm transmitter for the ipod. 5 minutes after it came in i went to my truck to hook up my ipod, there was nothing. I am not sure why, but the radio station will not appear on the ipod touch screen and will not allow you to know what station you are tuned into to set your radio to. On monster's website ( as of 12/3/07) this is the first product listed on the page for touch accessories. After waiting on hold for over 30 minutes to talk to a tech support rep. from monster, i found out that the page on www.monstercable.com was wrong and that if you have a ipod touch, you should not buy this. Monster agreed to send me the correct one in exchange for this one. The one that is being sent to me is the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus.

Customer Reviews:
Horrible to start, but well worth it!.......2007-12-25
Could not get my iPod to recognize it. Spent hours and hours trying to rest my iPod, reset the Tune Stick, then reset it all again. The DLO instructions are very weak. The DLO customer service is a joke... couldn't get a hold of anyone there. Got so frustrated almost returned the stupid thing.... but then, just before I was about to give up, I gave it one last try and.... IT WORKED!!!! And I've been a happy camper since! The steering wheel remote holder is genius! I really like this product because it has the pin out for the car power charger on the bottom, so I just plug in my charger to the outlet and it recharges my iPod, while maintaining power to the Tune Stick (not necessary, but convenient because the set up eats battery life) at the same time while I'm wheeling down the road groovin to my tunes! Final comment: It is definately worth the money... and the initial frustration. Have patience and you'll be very please!!
Glad I got it.......2007-10-05
I got the Tune Stick over other FM transmitters for the iPod as it is the only one that I could find with a pass through port. This allows for charging the iPod while it is being used - definitely a cool thing to have. It has definitely changed (for the better) my office environment and my commute. The remote and the cradle for the steering wheel are all good as others have probably said, however, we ALL know that the iPod battery lasts NOT nearly as long as advertising would have us believe. So, the pass through connection for the docking port is a must for a day in the office or the long weekend or vacation drive up the coast. The transmission quality has been great although in the big cities (I like to avoid them anyway), it can take a little time to find a clear channel.
Clever product, with flaws.......2007-09-29
This unit is cleverly designed, and functions adequately...some of the time. Interference from power lines and radio signal relays regularly disrupt "broadcasts" from one's iPod to the FM station selected. As one travels, other stations can routinely be heard, replacing the programming on one's iPod. It's pretty annoying, and frequently renders the listening experience genuinely unpleasant.

Customer Reviews:
The problem is impedance..........2007-11-12
The problem with is with impedance. Yes, it works with my Zen MP3 player. No, it doesn't work with my ATT Tilt Cellphone. The problem is the impedance is different. The DLO wants low impedance..like for a typical headset. My cellphone puts out a high impedance to its headset.
So, the issue can be resolved for $2.99. Go to Radio Shack and buy the 8 ohm-to-1000 ohm audio transformer. You'll need to do a little soldering, but it works. Why didn't they incorporate different impedanc einto the device? YOu can figure it cost more that way

Works well.......2007-09-20
I know this product has received mixed reviews. All I can say is it works for me.
1) I drive a Honda, the radio is set up in 0.2mhz increments. If I can find a dead station, anyone can.
2) Max the volume on your player
3) Cigarette lighter adapter works well.
I have used around town and on long trips (5-8 hours). The only thing you need to be aware of is having to hunt for a new station as you drive X distance.
Sound quality can be controlled by the player, as the transmitter uses the headphone jack.
If your going to bass boost the player, set the radio to flat until you hear what it sounds like.
I use mine with a Creative Zen Vision:M. Does the job, and does it for a reasonable price.
Works Great.......2007-09-09
It works great. I can have it attached to my ipod, and listen to it 3 or 4 rooms away. The sound is not CD quality, but it is about the same as the local radio stations. No complaints.
Terrible piece of junk.......2007-08-19
Actually this item is worth zero stars. This must be the worst piece of electronics I ever bought. The range is feeble (reception quality varies within the space of the car!), the tone quality 'thin', lacking any depth, and the build quality beggars belief. I have rarely used it after the first few attempts, but the audio socket has come detached from the circuit board and the tuning knob drops off frequently. A much much better bet is Arkon's SoundfeederArkon SF150A SoundFeeder Wireless FM Transmitter at half the price. Stronger signal and good, deep sound.
Don't buy it!.......2007-08-12
I just purchased the DLO transmitter for my Sandisk C240. It sounds HORRIBLE! You might be able to hear the music but you won't be able to hear the words. I guess I was expecting more like being able to actually hear the song. I am returning this back to the store asap. I wonder if the other brands sound any better?
Amazon.com Product Description
Primarily designed as a digital music player but also capable of storing data, the RCA Lyra RD-2763 is a great choice for commuting, jogging, and a host of other on- the-go uses. The unit comes with a combination FM transmitter/charger that plugs into any car's cigarette lighter, letting you play your favorite tunes through the FM radio while charging the Lyra at the same time. In addition, the Lyra's 5 GB hard drive stores both MP3 and WMA files, in addition to supporting secure downloads from WMA- compliant DRM services. Listeners will enjoy access to up to 170 hours of WMA music or 3,400 songs encoded at 64 kbps--enough for almost any application, including cross- country road trips.
Getting around is simple thanks to the HDD SmartTrax navigation and included MusicMatch Jukebox software. The former lets you browse your contents by album, genre, year, or title, or select a group by ID3 tagging, while the latter offers such functions as Lyra DJ (creates precise playlists based on your sorting preferences) and the ability to export MP3 files to WAV format. And because there are no moving parts, the Lyra's music playback simply doesn't skip.
Listening to music is only part of the fun, however. The Lyra also stores data files, such as digital photos, PowerPoint presentations, text documents, and more. The data storage in effect turns the Lyra into a mini hard drive, making it a great companion for anyone who needs to transport small data files from one location to another without wasting a CD-R or hauling along a laptop. It also serves as a nice overflow device in a pinch, such as when needing to free up space on a digital camera.
The Lyra sports a multi-line LCD screen (with icons), which lists the artist name, song title, and elapsed time, among other details. The display makes it easy to select songs, view other selections, adjust the volume, check the battery level, and more. And thanks to the six equalizer presets--which include bass, custom, pop, rock, jazz, and flat--you can easily optimize the sound tones to suit your tastes.
The Lyra is compatible with PCs running Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, or XP or Macs running OS X 10.2 or higher. To transfer music, simply run a USB cord (included) from the Lyra to a PC (the Lyra supports USB 2.0). The Lyra, which also comes with a built- in lithium-ion polymer battery and a universal AC/DC adapter, measures 2 by 3.3 by 0.6 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day manufacturer's warranty.

The device is also Play4Sure Certified which means the plyer will work with the most secure music downloads and subscriptions from WMA-compliant services. Compatible formats are mp3, WMA, WMA DRM 10. DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!.......2007-11-30
You may think you are getting a good deal, but it is because the item is a piece of worthless junk!! After 2.5 months, my player reads "File system corrupted" and it is totally unusable! Don't waste your money! I wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I bought it! I actually give this 0 stars, but the review process demands a star.
No frills, but great value - except for the transmitter.......2007-10-31
I paid $40 for the mp3 player which included an AC adapter and FM transmitter. Based on price and value, I cannot complain. The mp3 player is very basic (cannot display photos, play videos, etc), but its 5 GIG capacity makes it a real bargain compared to other name brand players. It is hard drive based, rather than flash. Therefore there are sometimes delays when searching for songs, and sometimes when adjusting the volume. The FM transmitter, in my case, is essentially worthless. It has a very limited frequency selection, and none work well......noisy, full of static, unbearable!! So if you're looking for something basic just for listening to tunes, and the price is right, I highly recommend this player.
Excellent item, worth the money.......2007-10-10
I recommend it a lot, you don't need more than 5 gb for your travel purposes, buy it today!
Keep it out of the heat.......2007-10-06
I bought the Jukebox last fall when I started doing a long commute. It worked fine for a long while, but I left it in the sun a few times, and now the battery won't hold a charge very well. I only get about 20 minutes. Also, there a spring in the FM transmitter that holds a fuse in place, but the spring was too weak and it would lose contact. I ended up stuffing pieces of aluminum foil in to ensure that it would make contact. (Don't do this unless you know what you're doing, because if the fuse is short-circuited, it could start a fire -- if the fuse can't, well, defuse an overpower event). The price was right, and it got me through some long car rides, but I wouldn't buy it again.
An Awesome DAP For Those On a Budget!.......2007-09-28
This is my second RCA Lyra. I had a refurbished RD-2762A I got on eBay, and after a little over a year, its battery quit holding a charge. In the interim, I used a small 512MB Chinese-made player that worked well, but didn't really suit all of my needs.
After some research on-line came up with no real answers, I just typed "RCA Lyra" into Google, and it came up with this item at Amazon.com! The first thing I noticed was the price, which at that time was 49.99. I paid twice that for my refurbed 2762A!
I immediately saw that it resembled my 2762A in nearly every way, but was a gorgeous dark metallic blue with a darker scroll wheel. I quickly purchased it, with free S/H, and got less than a week later.
The Lyra suits my needs very well, and its 5 gigabytes of hard drive space stores my entire music collection. It has various EQ settings, and the sound is surprisingly great, on par with my brother's 30GB Video iPod, and ease of use is, well, easy.
Firstly, forget about any software programs, including MusicMatch or Windows Media Player. Just switch the file transfer protocul (under the menu => Settings) from MTP to MSC. Now, when you connect the Lyra to your computer with the USB cable, it recognizes it as a portable hard drive. Now, you can simply drag and drop files and whole directories onto the player. You can still create playlists, however, including My Selections, which allows you to save your favorite tracks into an on-the-go playlist.
Battery life is pretty good, at least for me, around 8 hours, which beats my old RD-2762A (less than 6). It has the same monochrome screen as previous Lyras with a bright blue backlight. Not as cool as some of the other fancier and expensive DAPs, but perfect for me.
The included earbuds are not that great, and I'm using the far superior JVC Gumy Berry Blue headphones I ordered through Wal-Mart's Site-to-Store ($9.99). I carry the player in a small Case Logic Pocket case I got from their website ($9.99, $15 with shipping).
There are few accessories for any of the Lyras, but through sheer luck, I found an RCA MP3 Starter Kit at Wal-Mart on clearance for $3! It contained three silicone cases for the Lyra, plus an extra wall charger. My Lyra is currently garbed in the blue case to match the rest of my accessories.
The included free FM transmitter plugs directly into your cigarette lighter adapter (no batteries!) and has a retractable cable that plugs into the Lyra's (or any portable music or video player) headphone jack. The transmitter actually works well, at least in my car, and has eight stations for reception.
For those that love Lyras, I'd highly recommend the RD-2763FM. And with he price continuing to drop at Amazon.com, I say go for it. It's a solid DAP with great sound, features, and an actually good FM transmitter thrown in.
Here's a pic of my RD-2763FM with its accessories, sans the FM transmitter:

Great iPod transmitter.......2007-12-23
I can fire this up in San Jose and drive to Los Angeles without having to change the station. And when I have to change the station, it's easy and straightforward to do. I am much happier with this transmitter than I was with a previous transmitter from a different company. If you don't want to buy a new car with Sync, try this instead!
iGriffen better FM transmitter.......2007-12-18
I live in Charlotte, NC and bought this as a replacement for my Griffin FM transmitter: (Griffin 9781) (had a flaky connection to ipod) and the static/white noise I receive from the Kensington transmitter is much worse than the Griffin.
broke after a couple of months.......2007-12-13
It was stuck in the cigarette lighter of the car. I was trying to get it out and I guess I pulled too hard because it broke. :( It worked well before that.
You're listening to KiPd-FM!.......2007-12-13
Between my iPod nano and this charger/transmitter, I've decided to leave the 10-disc CD changer in my 1996 Subaru Legacy if I ever sell it.
My commute takes me from the Inland Empire of Southern California to Pomona, at the very edge of L.A. county, so you'd think it would be impossible to find a quiet FM channel. Nope. 90.5 is perfect, as are a couple higher up the scale.
The secret is knowing what to listen and look for. Begin at home with the car parked in the driveway, not in the garage and definitely NOT while hurtling down the freeway. With the transmitter unplugged from the accessory or lighter outlet, start at the bottom of your car radio's FM band and tune 1 channel (.2 MHz) at a time until you can hear only white noise and can't see the "STEREO" indicator. Set a button for that frequency, and then repeat the procedure until you find two more. The lower the frequency (below 100 MHz), the better the performance. If you can't find any completely quiet channels, opt for those that are too weak to turn on the "STEREO" indicator.
Now plug in the transmitter and tune its three buttons to the same channels. Attach your iPod and play some tunes. Once you know where you're going to put your iPod, coil up the excess cable to improve the signal strength.
If your travels take you outside your local area, you might have to repeat the procedure. I have yet to see how well it works for, say, a trip from home to the Getty Museum or up to Lake Tahoe, but for now it's MY music that keeps me company on the ride to work and back.
Excellent, but...........2007-12-12
Before you buy this product, keep in mind where the outlet in your car is. The reception and sound quality is excellent and it is easy to search for new stations. But, I plug it into an armrest between the two front seats of my Explorer. You cannot see what station you are programmed to. If I lose reception, I search on my radio for a free station and then have to use the up and down buttons slowly until I hear the song that is playing on my IPod.

IPOD on Wheels.......2007-12-12
It is fantastic. Just buy it. Easy to install and you have your portable Ipod.
Didn't work for me.......2007-12-06
I am surprised to see so many positive reviews on this product but for some reason it just didn't work for me and even the design was very bulky and I couldn't figure out a way to mount it in my car.
I drive a honda accord and my plug resides right beside the gear stick. I had a very hard time in installing this device and finding the right way to mount it so that it does not obstruct the gearshift.
I encountered a very strange problem in finding the right frequency. The device works fine in the morning hours where I could play my ipod at 85.1. But during evening, though I was able to find many unused frequencies, the transmitter just wouldn't work. I got a lot of static which was unbearable and I had to finally return the product.
It doesn't work for me.......2007-11-29
The item looks sharp, particularly with it matching the white Ipod. As far as it actually working, it falls way short.
I live in the NY Metro area and went through all the FM stations and found not one station that the worked with the FM transmitter. Even the stations that had static did not work. My old "cheaper" FM transmitter w/charger and cradle with only 4 preset stations works
I don't know whether the Griffin is not working due to the area or the product. Did anyone else have the same experience? What do I do?
Does it work with IPHONE?.......2007-11-06
I had to take a minute and let you know about this product if you own a IPHONE. Now you dropped allot of money on the IPHONE and you want to be able to listen to it in your automobile. This product does work for the IPHONE, but there are some things that I must let you know before you order it.
1) You will here a slight humming sounds as your drive around. It is not very loud, but you will notice it. This happens because most of us who have our IPHONE do not wish to switch the phone to airplane mode in order to play our music, so if you have no problem with a faint buzzing sound while you belt out a few tunes then this is your product.
2) I have a truck and at first when I was trying to figure out where I wanted the Griffin Road Trip to be placed it appeared to need the extension that is included in the box, so hold on to those small pieces you never know what you will need them for.
3) READ THE DIRECTIONS! They will tell you what each part is for, and before you know it you will have your favorite tunes playing from your speakers.
I have recommended this product to my friends and family, and now to you.
Good Luck!
So far so good.......2007-10-29
I didn't have a lot of hopes in purchasing a refurbished electronics product, but so far this has held up in the few times I've used it. For the money I spent, I'm pleased with the quality of the sound (it's playing compressed music over transmitted radio waves, so again, my hopes weren't too high in the first place) although you have to keep the volume high enough to overcome the natural hiss. Ergonomically, it's built conveniently and safely enough for me to operate without distracting me from the road or bumping my knee. However, this probably has as much to do with the location of my car's cigarette lighter as the product itself. Again, for the discounted price I got it for, its dramatically improved the value of my ipod to me.

Don't buy for 98-05 Jetta!.......2007-12-26
This kit does NOT work in a VW Jetta where the AC outlet is down in front of the gear shift. I have a 99 model manual transmission Jetta and it doesn't fit. The adapter post does not fit all the way down into the AC outlet; the position of the outlet makes it impossible to push it down far enough to make contact. And even if it fit, it wouldn't work with a manual transmission. You wind up hitting the unit every time you shift into 3rd or 5th gear, not to mention you couldn't touch the controls. I can't vouch for other cars or the quality of this unit because I can't get it to work. If your outlet is in a similarly tight spot then DO NOT buy this.
Good kit.......2007-12-07
this kit is really good if you are really crazy of listening songs from ipod. however keep in mind it transmits radio signal and and your car receives signals from other sources as well. so sometimes there is not of static.. otherwise we really like this kit.
Seller Woes.......2007-11-21
This item was different than the product photo. The item I received (from Cable 4 Less) has gray packaging and the product itself has a digital readout and a bevel on top. The product is very cheap. Cheaper than it looks in the photo. I do not know how effectively the product works, since it will be a gift for somebody else. If aesthetics are important to you, don't buy this item.
this is second time~!.......2007-10-14
it is very useful product!! while i am driving i have to have~~!!!
just i have to buy again, cuz connection part was broken, after year.
Overall a good product for a good price.......2007-09-17
It's very easy to use and is a great buy. The downside is it may have a bad broadcast so that a very silent buzz is heard. For those with sensitive ears it may bother you or and if you listen to a lot of classical or relaxing music. Otherwise it's a great product.
