I have been using this item for some time now and absolutely love it. It has a large number of fm transmitter frequencies to choose from, unlike some of the other sirius models which have only 4. So it is easy to find a free station. The car kit was very easy to install and easy to move from vehicle to vehicle if you need to. And it is very easy to use. And the sirius service is absolutely wonderful. I have nothing negative at all about this equipment or the service.

We bought two units and a boombox. The first unit is still going strong after 1 1/2 years has been moved from vehicle to vehicle. The second unit was spotty from the start. It really had issues after was used in the boombox for only the second time. Now there is a short and it has not been right since. Buyer beware. SIDE NOTE we also have a Starmate and it is has been replaced TWICE in less than a year. The first time it just wouldn't get any reception and the second time the antenna broke off with minimal wear and tear. It was bought from Sirius and they have stood behind the product, but you pay for shipping and are without a radio.

After seeing this product in action from my co-worker at work, I had to purchase one! It does run hot to touch when used in a vehicle on a hot day without air conditioning. There is a large interior heat sink in the back, and this makes the display blur after it gets hot. When the small unit cools down, the blurred display gets restored to normal operation. I am concerned about the long-term life of this unit, given how warm it runs. I have used it for 13 months every day without issue.

I bought this unit from Amazon for $46 and I use it daily at work. I drive a garbage truck and the unit gets a good shaking from me picking up and emptying up to 1000 bins each day. The unit does run hot but it has worked faultlessly despite hitting the floor a couple of times

Unit gets so hot it leads to other problems. The LCD display is almost unreadable due to the heat. It is nearly untouchable due to the heat. The power cord disconects everytime you hit a bump or touch the unit which makes it hard to change stations and also bad if you were into something you were listening to! I also believe the power cord issue is heat related since the adapter plug gets soft after use because of the heat.
I also called customer service on an un-related issue and they are HORRIBLE! I personally will NEVER buy another Xact product if I can help it.

I purchased my unit at wal-mart. In nine days the power cord broke. Customer service told me to pound sand. It's an "accessory". After 5 months the unit died and I sent it back. A new one in the box arrived in about two weeks. This unit makes the first unit better by comparison. I have had this unit for two weeks and it often does not work. I drive an hour to work and it does nothing but display the sirius logo. I leave the unit on all day and nothing happens but last night on my way home it was working. I will be shipping it back soon. Good customer service would make up for a lousy product but that's not available at XACT.

Terrible Reception.......2007-11-23
I purchased this item primarily because I knew it matched up well with a particular Motorcycle mount I was buying. After receiving the purchase, I activated the unit and could not get a consistant signal. The antenna was always disabled and searching for a signal. Before returning it, I purchased a sirius system and it worked perfectly. I, then was sure I had a defective unit. I must say, Amazon was great in allowing me to return the unit, even though it was past the 14 day return period of the company that shipped it to me. I was greatly pleased in Amazon's coorporation with me and I will continue to purchase from them. In all the times I've bought from Amazon, this is the first time I had a problem at all. Thank you Amazon for your assistance. I will continue to be a loyal customer.
Sirius Rocks on Audiovox.......2007-05-23
I have had sirius for two years, and have two friends that I give 3 subscriptions to as gifts (each additonal subscriptin is about 8 dollar a month) - they all love them. I have a life time subscription. My original audiovox got ripped off, so I needed to get it replaced - and they don't hold it as one of the three changes in radios I am allowed. For the money, the third version of the Autiovox is best - it gives good fm transmistion that has had to be toned down per the FCC in other models. Unless you want to record the shows with protable models that are more expensive, this is the way to go. Sirius content is better than xm - esp. if you love nfl football, nba basketball, etc.

I've been using the radio for about a week now. In that week, I've driven through southern Ontario, western NY, PA, WV, MA, and VA.
Radio itself: Seems well built, solid. Has a nice FM transmitter. I haven't experienced any of the problems other people seem to have with the newer radios (i.e. week transmitter). LCD is clear and bright, even during the day. My only complaint is the number of 'motions' required to change the frequency (Menu button, scroll down 4 or 5 options, select FM Frequency, scroll down to 2nd option, select it, etc...). As I was traveling through several States, I ended up changing about three to four times. If you end up staying in one area, then this won't be as important to you.
Mount: It works. I 'stuck' it to my dash and will not end up screwing it in - I don't need to from the looks of things. It's a bit tough getting the radio out of the cradle. Also, the first time I changed the position of the cradle, it felt like I was going to break it. Other reviews, however, had prepared me for this and I wasn't worried too much.
Sirius service: I bought this in the States (I currently live in Canada) because I wanted the US service (why does everything in CAN appear to be a watered down version of the comparable product/service available in the US?). However, I needed a US credit card...hrm...so I signed up for the CAN service instead. It looks like I lose a few channels and the service costs more ($20 for start up, $15 for service PLUS GST!!!). On the good side, however, the CAN service worked flawlessly in the States as I expected and I experienced no hickups when crossing the border. Also, I was told by Sirius CAN that because I have a US radio, that I will be able to get the US stations when I move back down (and acquire US service plan). Otherwise, if I had bought a CAN system, I would have had to re-purchase a US system in order to get the US specific stations.
Ok - I made a believer out of my wife. She was a bit skeptical about me spending 15 a month on this, but with 28 + hours of driving behind us, she's now impressed with the station quality and selection. So am I
UPDATE: APRIL 13, 2007. Here's something I just found out. I purchased a US radio with the intent of using the US Service in Canada (see watering down comment above). That didn't fly because I don't have a US credit card. Fair enough, so I sign up for the CAN service. Just found out that I won't be able to pick up some CAN stations because my radio is a US model. Also, I won't be able to pick up many (by my count 10) US stations because I have the CAN service. It's the worst of both worlds in my mind, for now. I still get about 95% of Sirius stations, so I'm not too upset. Plus, when I move back down to the States I won't have to re-purchase a new unit.
So, just be aware of where your radio is coming from and which service you intend to use.

Dude, if you pay for a liftime subscription you can only trasfer you membership 3 times??? Ahh then what? So you have to take you in dash radio with you for the rest of your life!!!??? So I go buy a few radio's to tryout and I don't like the first 2 Im stuck with the third, for Life???!! Ok peeps if I buy a life time subscription it should be for my lifetime not my radios lifetime....

This plug and play works great!
My confusion comes when trying to get the boombox accessory. Dose the sir-bb3 boombox work with this plug and play? The reason I am confused is because when I went to purchase the boombox I was told it only works with the sir-pnp3 plug and play!?!?!?! They don't explain that very well.

A great product with only minor flaws........2005-12-23
After much thought I finally decided to venture into the Satellite Radio world. I decided on XM and then started going through the process of selecting a receiver. I ultimately decided on the XM2GO based on its ability to record music up to five hours and its alleged on the go capability.
For starters the package comes loaded with everything you need. I did my registration and activation online. The on-line activation and registration is wonderful! I had the unit set up in my home stereo system and playing the complete channel line-up in less than a half hour.
Using the home antenna through my home entertainment system is great. The dock that the XM sits in takes up little space and fits on top of my other components. The sound is excellent in my house. While I have read about problems with antennas and interferance, I experience none of that. I moved my antenna to where I thought it was least noticeable on the top of my entertainment center, checked my reception on my XM2GO and I had all kinds of reception bars.
The On the Go idea seems fantastic. While I haven't tried it in a lot of places yet, (just walking around my yard and so on) the reception is in and out and basically worthless. This seems to be the common complaint amongst reviewers so let me add my name in the mix of folks who are not happy with the so called portable feature. The recording feature really makes up for that though so it all evens out. The only recording drawback is that you cannot delete specific songs. If you want to delete recorded material, you have to delete everything. So yes you can be totally portable without any antennas for working out, riding the subway, and so on but you will really need to have recorded your music ahead of time. If you're thinking you are going to turn this unit on and listen to live radio without the antenna, think again.
Setting up the unit in my car took a little work but again, less than thirty minutes and I was dialed in a ready to go. Because my new car does not have a tape deck I opted for the antenna approach using an empty FM single. I have read so many reviews on a multitude of sites about people going through all kinds of hoops trying to position the antenna on the outside of their cars and going through little holes here and there... I know every area is different in terms of reception but I did none of that. I used the vent mount to hold the device and ran the antenna under the seat and up the side of the back seat and put the actual antenna box above my two back passenger seats on the little shelf back there under the rear window. The real trick with this is then tucking the wires away as best you can so you don't junk up your car with lose wires. I used one small piece of tape to pin the wire under my seat so as to not kick and pull it when I get in an out of the car. The excess antenna wire (and their is a ton of it) I put underneath one of the back passenger floor mats. Then I tucked the wire running up the side of the one back seat in a groove between the seat and the door. The reception in the area I drive in daily has been fantastic. Not a single complaint. While I can certainly see the advantages of a hard wired system, with a little creativity you can use the antenna without covering the inside of your car with wires.
Overall, this product is great. XM needs to rework the portable idea for the future but otherwise it's wonderful. Fast setup, easy activation, and good sound quality.

The podlike Audiovox SIRPNP2 module doesn't resemble a typical home audio component in the slightest, measuring just 5.2 inches wide, 3.4 inches high, and 1.9 inches deep. A large, easy-to-read, pale-orange display dominates the front panel, simultaneously showing the name, number, and category of the Sirius channel, as well as the current artist, song title, and time of day. The display is flanked by a channel selector knob and a rectangular category button that selects from a group of Sirius channels, or streams: Rock, Pop, Country, Hip-Hop, News, Entertainment, and so on. Ten preset buttons can be programmed for quick access to 30 streams. We found the controls intuitive and easy to use.
You can't do much with the Audiovox SIRPNP2 all by itself. It's designed to work in conjunction with the the SIRCK1 car audio kit. The home kit we used for this review included the SIRHK1 countertop docking station, which comes with an indoor/outdoor Sirius antenna, an AC power supply, and a stereo hookup cable.

The SIRPNP2 features a satellite-updated real-time clock with an alarm, a sleep mode, and automatic shutdown. When we popped the Audiovox SIRPNP2 into the SIRBB1 boombox, we appreciated the SIRPNP2's automatic brightness control for the display; there's also a 10-level manual brightness and contrast control. The parental lockout option might come in handy for users who want to block the uncensored comedy and rap streams.
Connectivity options are bare-bones basic; a stereo 1/8-inch minijack analog output, a Sirius antenna jack, and a DC power jack are located on the docking station. A tiny but full-function remote control duplicates most of the SIRPNP2's front-panel controls
