Amazon.com Product Description
Set your music free as only JBL can do it with the On Stage II iPod speaker system. The On Stage II is a compact yet powerful high-performance sound system that fills your room with clear, accurate sound and all the volume you (and your friends and neighbors) can handle. Users will dig the easy-to-use touch controls, with volume and mute buttons that respond with just a hint of pressure. The On Stage II's wireless remote, meanwhile, lets you control your music from up to 50 feet in any direction, even through walls. It's a must for parties, backyard barbecues, and any other occasion in which you want to enjoy your full iPod library out loud.
The On Stage II incorporates the Apple iPod universal dock adapter, which is compatible with most docking versions of the iPod, including the mini, nano, and 5G versions (excepting the iPod shuffle). The system isn't restricted to iPods, however, as it also includes a stereo mini-jack connection that works with MP3 players, portable CD players, desktop and laptop computers, and even satellite radio receivers. And thanks to the system's OnePoint design, you can charge and sync your iPod without connecting it directly to a computer. Instead, the OnePoint connectors do the work for you, so you can add new songs from iTunes easily and efficiently.
The On Stage II's powerful sound is the real highlight, however. The system includes four aluminum-domed Odyssey transducers driven by powerful neodymium magnets to produce a full, rich frequency response that extends from the lowest bass to the highest highs. The On Stage II also employs computer-optimized equalization to provide a rich, complete sound stage, along with optimized compression topology to ensure clean, accurate sound at high output levels. Other details include a lightweight frame that's easy to transport, an auxiliary audio input cable, and surface-gripping rubber feet that provide a stable platform on most surfaces.
The On Stage II measures 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall and is backed by a one-year warranty.

Works perfectly from the start to now and into the future.......2007-12-09
Hello,
I have currently owned this product for about a year now since I got it from the store so I wouldn't go to sleep with a pair of headphones on.
Set up took about 5 min, and was easy. I read the directions for about another 5 minutes and got the gist of it. The bass is reasonable and sound quality sounds better the more you increase the volume. It is compatible with all kinds of ipods so far. The volume can go very high, so I rarely put it up there. It charges everything as long as you plug it in, so I don't have to connect it to the computer.
It seems very durable, and is small enough to carry it around comfortably. It has a pretty good design of a doughnut.
I was surprised at its smallness at first, but quickly got used to it.
Follow the directions, and you should be fine.
Highly recommended.
Note: Only for home use or a place with an outlet.
At first yes, but then not so much.......2007-12-02
I have had this speaker system for about a year and it worked very well at first. Then when I tried to put a different kind of iPod in it, it skrewed up and ended up freezing the iPod. The sound wouldn't work and if it did, it would have a clicking noise in the background. I put my old one in there and it skrewed that one up also. I ended up having to get a new iPod. If you are looking for a one iPod speaker for not very long, then it is alright, but not many people are.
Small, pretty and great sound.......2007-11-29
I wanted something to be able to play my IPOD while I work in the kitchen, without a mess of speakers and wires. This is compact with tremendous sound, no set-up involved at all... just plug it in, insert IPOD, enjoy.
Great product!
Good Sound, Good Price.......2007-11-05
This speaker/docking arrangement is great. I have 3 of them placed around my home. The sound is good, the volume goes loud enough for daily use. I have used mine daily for about 13 months without any problem of any kind. If you already have a main stereo system I would suggest the Kensington dock that will play your iPod right through you system. Otherwise get this JBL. I also use my JBL when I go a friend's home who doesn't have an iPod.
Great Sound and Wonderfully Compact.......2007-10-26
I bought the JBL On Stage II speaker just yesterday and tried it out last night. I am highly impressed with the sound quality. It is a small speaker that gives off comparable quality to that of a Bose speaker. Of course it isn't a Bose but JBL made a fantastic speaker at more than half the price. This speaker is a Harmon product (an audio specialty company) so it's good quality and delivers an impressive sound. I'd buy it all over again!

I love it!.......2007-10-16
I was looking for a long time for portable speakers for my ipod, and most of the ones I found were way over-priced. I actually considered buying the circular ones that have great sound, but i really wanted something i can carry around. The thing about this, it's not just for an ipod, it's for anything that has a plug for headphones, I even use it for my computer when I watch videos because they get pretty loud. Surprisingly my batteries have not died as soon as I thought they would. It comes with a carrying case. I love that they are so small, it was definitely worth the price!
Logitech iPod Speakers.......2007-08-23
Very portable, good quality sound . . . important to adjust volume on the iPod (at least 3/4 max) to get best volume from the unit.
Puts out great sound, but..........2007-08-03
...be sure you know what you're NOT getting. These speakers do not connect to your iPod via the iPod dock connector; you have to plug in the provided cable to the headphone jack. And this does not charge your iPod while playing, although the instructions conveniently show you how to connect it to a computer to do so, in case you never figured that out before!
Again, great sound for the price, but the pictures imply features that are not included. Caveat emptor!
eASY.......2007-06-02
VERY EASY TO OPERATE. pERFECT FOR A HOLIDAY TREAT , EITHER IN THE HOTEL ROOM OR JUST LOUD ENOUGH ON THE BEACH WITHOUT DISTURBING OTHERS
works great.......2007-05-14
quick review, i purchased this item specifically for vacation, and to fill a hotel room the speakers are just fine, now if you are relying on this product to replace some nicer stereo equipment then you will be dissapointed, but overall solid execution. One negative is the nano doesnt exactly fit snug into the holder, other than that all else ok.

Customer Reviews:
Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Customer Reviews:
Very Impressed!.......2007-08-01
I bought this little battery operated speaker for a 3 day camping trip and I was super impressed with its performance. Everyone who heard it wanted to buy one on the spot. Some reviews have said the sound quality was not spectacular and I guess people who really want hi-fi type sound quality might not be overly impressed, but for anyone looking for a little background (or even a little boogie) music to enjoy while away from home it's ideal. The sound was clear and much louder than I would have expected from something so compact and tiny. It was plenty loud enough to play in a 3 car garage during a ping pong tournament at half volume if that helps you get an idea of it's range. It distorted a bit on some of my heavier music but I adjusted the ipod volume, as it instructs, and it was fine. The fact that it is completely portable and doesn't need recharging was fantastic and it is still running on the original batteries after another 4 day trip when it played every night for a couple of hours at least.
It is a bit tricky getting the silicone cover on the ipod initially but once I figured it out it was no trouble at all. The device fits in my pocket if I am walking or sits in a tent pocket happily.
In summary - if you plan to throw a disco party for 100 people at your house and use it as a primary sound source it probably won't cut it but if you just want to play some tunes while you are hiking, camping, boating or hanging at your cabin and you need something small and wireless - this is the gadget for you!
Excellent idea.......2007-07-21
The sound is fine for small areas(Office, bedroom, etc.) If you want booming sound, hook your iPod up to your main stereo system.
MBWG2 Miniblaster .......2007-06-27
This item is as neat as a pin! Very compact and fairly good quality sound reproduction - certainly good for this size output. Very pleased.
Great product!.......2007-06-08
This is a great product. I think the sound quality is excellent for the size. I mainly listen to acoustic music - bluegrass, blues, folk and the like - so can't speak specifically to rappers and others wanting a heavy, boomy bass.
I take mine to guitar/mandolin lessons to play songs that I want to learn for my teacher. Also, I can upload lessons we've recorded to the ipod and play them back, all on a portable speaker that fits easily in my instrument case or purse.
I haven't been gentle with the unit, and it's holding up very well.
I seem to remember when I first got it having problems fitting the nano into the silicon skin and then the speakers. I just had to tinker around with it at first, and eventually it easily went into and came out of the speaker cabinet.
If I ever broke it and another wasn't available, I would be very sad because I haven't found anything else out there like it.
Highly recommended!
AWESOMEE!!!.......2007-06-03
I was surprised to see that this actually came early! It came a day before it was supposed to. Also, it works realy well. The sound is great and it is really easy to use and easy to carry everywhere you go. I would reccomend you buying this.

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Terrible.......2007-12-18
i bought this product and tried to insert my Ipod Nano and found it did not fit. I sent it back and got a new one with the same problem. I sent that one back and got a new one and was still unsuccessful at fitting it in the speaker. I finally got a refund. THIS PRODUCT IS INCOMPETENT I DOES"NT WORK PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!11
Does not fit the 2nd Gen.......2007-07-25
This speaker DOES NOT fit the 2nd Gen Nano, unless you force it in there and risk breaking the speakers, your nano, or both. It does, however, produce some nice sound for the size and price, but nothing too loud or audiophilic. There are plenty of other products that fit the 2nd Gen, so I'd suggest you keep looking if you own a 2nd Gen. If you own a 1st Gen this product is probably for you.
Big Sound in a Tiny Package.......2007-04-06
I expected this to completely suck the life out of my batteries, but this just keeps going and going. It has good sound and didn't cost me nearly what my friends spent for their bigger ones. :)
Wouldn't fit.......2007-02-12
I didn't see anything in the discription about it fitting only the older version of Nano's. I got this for someone for Christmas and we were both very disappointed that it wouldn't fit the new generation Nano. The size was perfect for us, we just wished the Nano would've fit.
poor sound quality.......2007-01-12
This is a great product for kids, but for an adult looking for good sound quality this is not it. It sounds very tinny.

AM/FM clock radio with built-in iPod dock * for all docking iPods, including video iPods, iPod photos, iPod nanos, and iPod minis * two 2-1/2" full-range speakers plus two 4" subwoofers * auxiliary input (stereo RCA) * headphone jack * composite video output *
Amazon.com Product Description
The Sharp i-Elegance line of docking speaker systems turns your personal iPod into a stereo jukebox for all your friends and family to enjoy. Compatible with every iPod that incorporates a 30-pin dock connector, the system plays and charges your iPod simultaneously, making it easy to enjoy your favorite tunes whether lounging on the patio or cooking in the kitchen. The i-Elegance is equipped with a pair of front-firing, full-range speakers and two side-firing subwoofers, which combine to produce crisp, crystal-clear highs and mids and a deep, powerful bass performance. Adding to the audio versatility is a six-step electronic equalizer that customizes the sound based on the music genre, along with an E-sound mode that improves the quality of compressed digital sound. The latter feature is great for digital music formats, as it reverses the deterioration that results from compression technologies by enhancing the sound frequency spectrum and increasing the sound pressure.
The i-Elegance also includes a digital AM/FM tuner that picks up all your favorite stations, with 32 station presets for quick and efficient tuning. The built-in alarm, meanwhile, lets you wake to your favorite iPod selections or a buzzing alarm (other alarm options include a sleep timer and a programmed shutoff mode). And users will love the system's compact remote control, which lets them control all the functions of the i-Elegance from across the room. Additional details include an RCA video output jack for connecting the system to a TV or monitor, an auxiliary input for connecting an MP3 player or personal CD player, and an easy-to-read fluorescent display.
The i-Elegance system measures 15.75 by 5.75 by 9.88 inches (W x H x D), weighs 9.5 pounds, and is backed by a one-year warranty.

Sharp DKA1 i-Elegance Music System for iPod.......2007-09-13
I listened to a lot of docking stations before settling on this one. I started with the one I thought would have no peers - the big "B" brand speaker. As I moved along in my search, the Sharp DKA1 had the bass sound that came closest to the big brand name docking station. Most other copycat brands sounded tinny. In addition to the DKA1 having rich, deep tones to complement the highs and mid-range sound, it has a built-in clock and an AM/FM radio with 40 presets. And the price for all of this is much less than the big brand item. It's the most bang-for-the-buck of any docking station available today based on my comparison with nearly 20 competitive products.
Good bang for the buck.......2007-08-21
The Sharp DK-A1 is a solid choice if looking for a way to play your I-pod externally. The positives include: very good sound. My sister has the Bose sound system for her I-pod which costs over twice as much from what I paid, but does not sound any better. The Sharp casts very deep, full sound, with lots of base for such a small unit. The E-sound button magnifies the bass nicely, but will become distorted, if the sound is too loud with it on. The illuminated blue lights are a nice touch and look great at night. The general design is nicely laid out. The negatives are: Limited range with the remote. I can only use the remote if I am within 6 ft of the console. In addition I am unable to change the play lists from the remote. It will only control the sound level and allow you to change the songs from the same play lists. I would have liked if this system had a handle to carry it from room to room and had a built in antenna, rather than the external wires which are a nuance to disconnect and reconnect when moving the system. The display panel in the front of the unit only says I-pod when the I-pod is in use, rather than display the artist and song playing. You need to look at the display of the I-pod to get this information which isn't nearly as visible as the display on the unit. Also, the AM radio only gets adequate reception. In general, I do recommend the Sharp DK-A1 as it does deliver very good sound at an affordable price but wish it had better thought out features.

Customer Reviews:
Best iPod speaker system out there (at any price!).......2007-07-06
First, let me just say that I never write reviews, but I was so amazed with this product that I just had to let people know.
I was trying to decide between the Bose Soundwave ($300) and the Klipsch ($170). Just wanted a good sounding, small player for the iPod. I tried them in the store and they both sound decent, maybe the Klipsch is a little warmer and fuller. But my wife wouldn't let me spend that kind of money.
Did my research and took a chance on the Specktone Retro II. Major selling points for me were:
1. Wood speaker cabinet (the Bose is plastic!)
2. Cool style (I honestly like the Klipch style a little better, but whatever)
3. Price (with shipping it was under $70)
I am blown away by how deep and rich the sound is. I'm a snob when it comes to this sort of thing. I only put AIFF files on my 80Gb iPod, because MP3 compression makes me cringe.
Out of the box, you can tell the SpeckTone is well manufactured and desgined. The remote is small and uses a watch battery. The system has a speaker underneath as well, which serves up the low end (something that all other systems in the under $150 range lack).
I tested it out with X's "Los Angeles". Bass was too much. Changed the EQ setting on the iPod and it's just great, better than the Bose or the Klipsch!
Don't let the low price-point fool you, the SpeckTone Retro II is the bestiPod speaker system available today!

The first with a remote to control the iPod's Album and Playlist features. The first with a built-in charger for NiMH or NiCAD batteries for increased portability.
The white with silver faceplate design makes the iSongBook a perfect match for the iPod. It also features an ?on demand? blue backlit LCD display that shows the station tuning as well as the digital clock, whose functions include alarm and 20-minute sleep timer that can be set to wake to an iPod as well as radio. Amazon.com Review
Building on the success of their micro radios and bookshelf systems, Tivoli Audio has broken new ground in a crowded field of iPod accessories with the iSongBook. At just 2.81 pounds, and with an included right channel speaker, the iSongbook packs a serious portable punch. If you have an iPod with a docking port connector, this little unit deserves a serious look.
The iSongBook's iPod dock swings down when you're ready to make the connection.

Design
The iSongBook's design takes many design queues from the Tivoli iPal, another iPod audio accessory from Tivoli Audio. That means that the iSongBook looks great alongside your iPod, which is exactly where the iPod is designed to go. A cradle cleverly swings down from the left side of the unit revealing a standard iPod docking port that also provides a charge for the iPod when the iSongBook is plugged into AC power. Tivoli also includes seven adapter "cups" that provide a snug fit for various iterations of the 3G, 4G, iPod Color, Video iPod, mini and even Nano. While the hideaway dock is a smart move, it can prove a bit kludgy when you have the iSongBook on an uneven surface, as the dock is only secured by a single hinge. It's a minor quibble, though.
The iSongBook's front panel is typical Tivoli fare-- a nice mix of retro style and Jetsons coolness. As with all Tivoli Audio products, controls are reassuringly simple and sturdy. Tivoli's philosophy seems to be that there should be a button devoted to each function of a given device. It's a refreshing choice in an age of ever-increasing complexity in electronics. Meanwhile, the unit's LCD display is large and bright, and there's a button for turning the backlight on and off for increased battery savings. Switching the function selector lets you choose from AM, FM, or iPod modes. iPod mode can double as an "Aux" mode, as there is a 3.5 mm auxiliary input on the back of the iSongBook. A straightforward alarm clock system is easy to set and control and allows the user to fall asleep and wake to their fave iPod tunes.
Bring your own iPod. Tivoli takes care of the rest.

Many would argue that offering two speakers in a small, portable audio device is futile exercise, as not enough stereo separation is possible. Indeed, Tivoli's Model One delivers some of the best "small" sound in the industry -- from a single speaker. To really experience stereo sound, some distance between the right and left channels is needed, and that's why the iSongBook sports a cleverly-implemented, detachable right speaker. The speaker is a breeze to connect and disconnect, and the cable is easily retractable via an internal coil that keeps the mess to a minimum. An added benefit of the detachable speaker is that it can be left behind when you want to keep the weight and bulk down.
Another hallmark of Tivoli's portable audio devices is that they offer flexible power options. The iSongBook is no exception. In addition to AC power, the unit can run on, and recharge, six rechargeable "AA"-size cells. Additionally, these batteries can be replaced with non-rechargeable "AA" alkaline cells when you're away from AC power for longer periods. When the unit is plugged in, the iSongBook provides a charge to both the rechargeable cells and your iPod. Pretty nifty.
Cord management is cleverly designed into the right channel speaker. The AC power and line-in ports are covered to keep out dust and moisture.

Listening Pleasure
The iSongBook's manual makes it clear that "Bass frequencies place a heavy strain on speakers and amplifiers. The iSongBook was engineered to produce the maximum amount of low frequencies for its size and power." Honesty is certainly the best policy and indeed, the iSongBook isn't cut out for delivering room-thumping bass. But it does deliver stunning crispness that will leave you wondering how Tivoli has managed to pack so much into such a small package. While lows are certainly not thundering, the crispness of notes across the full spectrum, high to low, is pretty hard to beat in a device this size. Tivoli's superior, audiophile-class electronics really do make a difference. Having an additional right channel that can be separated from the left is a big bonus. The monaural sound is good, but it lacks the fullness you'll hear with the right channel attached.
Integration with an iPod is painless, just pop it in the dock and the tunes begin. Meanwhile, AM/FM reception is good, and the digital tuner is surprisingly accurate and fast. The tuner's seek mode is as good as anything you'll find in a full-size component tuner. Tivoli never scrimps on anything, so there's also an included infrared remote. It's slim, easy-to-use, and highly functional, allowing you to control playlists and make album selections on your iPod. The iSongBook's headphone jack is a nice touch, too, even though it is redundant with the iPod's headphone jack-- unless you're listening to the iSongBook's radio.

Customer Reviews:
Only advantage of this product is its portability.......2007-12-24
With its optional case, this is the only easily portable, decent sounding iPod sound dock I know of ... and that's it, the only reason to buy this product is its portability.
The sound is acceptable, no more: a listenable, accurate midrange; a decent high end; no bass to speak of; barely adequate sound levels and; limited dynamic range.
If portability isn't an issue, for the same price get the Bose sound dock for much much better sound. If price isn't an issue, get the B&W Zeppelin ($[...]).
Unit distorts easily; manual tells you to turn off equalization. Remote has few options, can't hop between playlists, artists. FM reception is average. AM reception is weak. Optional case fits badly, very hard to put on. With the case on, it's ridiculously difficult to get the iPod platform out. Not practical as an alarm clock: too large, hard to read the time. Detachable speaker doesn't attach securely, wobbles.
Overall impression: overpriced mediocrity.
Sounds great, a little ugly, a few other gripes........2007-07-15
Yes, the sound of this unit is impressive, it's probably the decent speakers and electronics that makes this pricey. My Nano doesn't seem to fix snugly with the docking adapter. Also, I'm a little surprised there's not more comments on the aesthetics, it's a little ugly, but it may grow on me. More presets would have been nice. I like the battery charging feature, but really, for the price, why didn't they include rechargeables?
I chose it because it's exactly what I wanted: A portable FM/AM Ipod player, that isn't a bedroom clock or big and bulky, for the kitchen and the deck.
All in all, it's a nice sounding unit, works well with the ipod, but I'm not convinced it's worth the price. Then again, maybe I'm just used to Target and Wal-Mart selling cheap electronics from China that ARE crap, but they're still trying to get $100 out of you.
Not worth the price.......2007-05-27
Sound quality not on par with price. Lacks bass. Certainly not the same sound that made the original Tivoli radio famous.
This Tivoli Audio iSongbook is Awesome.......2007-03-31
The Tivoli Audio iSongbook Portable Music system is awesome. I have now purchased 2 one for my husband and one for my son after reading reviews here on Amazon. My husband says the sound is excellent for being so compact and very easy to use. Would buy other products from this company.
Just to add a few thoughts..........2007-03-17
First, let me say that I am a huge Tivoli Audio fan, so I may be a bit biased. I already own a Model 1, Model 1, and PAL.
I bought the iSongBook manly for travel and general portability. I use my PAL mainly in the bathroom, so I can listen to the radio in the morning as I get ready for work. It sounds great, but it is only mono, and there is no dedicated dock for an iPod, so I have to carry a cable to hook it up.
There are plenty of good reviews here, so I just want to add a couple of things that others left out:
1) The iSongBook is basically a SongBook with an extra speaker, iPod dock, and remote (which you probably already know). However, when trying to tune in a distant FM station, you can unplug the add-on speaker to put the main unit in MONO mode and cut out a lot of static. This is great for when you are out in the middle of nowhere, or just far from your favorite station. Also, if size is a big concern, you can just take the main unit with you, and leave the other speaker at home.
2) Like the PAL, the iSongBook is water resistant. You don't want to drop it in a swimming pool, but it can take a little rain or a bit of a splash. Dust and sand won't bother the unit, either. It is a great companion on camping trips or lying on the beach.
3) A set of NiMH batteries lasts a LONG time! I don't know how Tivoli pulled this off, but even at a decent volume level, I have a hard time going through a set of batteries in a day (10-15 hours). As I type this, there is a classival music station playing on my iSongBook, which has been on for about nine hours on the batteries. The display still shows two of three bars on the battery meter.
4) As mentioned, this may not be the ideal alarm clock, since there is only one wake time, no snooze button, and no constant backlight. However, it is wonderful to have while on the road. It beats the pants off any bolted-down hotel room alarm clock.
5) When you need to power the unit, you can use the included 110V "wall wort", but since the unit actually takes in 12VDC, you can also use a simple cigarette lighter adapter for charging it in the car, RV, boat, etc.

Great for the Price.......2007-11-26
I've had this for about a week now and I have to say that I'm pleased. I knew when I bought this for under fifty dollars that this wasn't going to be symphonic quality sound. It sounds good, and that is what I was willing to pay for right now. It's good looking, easy to use, and plays my music and podcasts. I'm happy for now. When I can afford the Bose system, then I'll trully be happy :-)
Awful doesn't even begin ..........2007-09-26
to describe this China reject. This is a product you typically find exported to third countries - not the US. All the reviews on this site were correct - stay away! (Apple - you really shouldn't let them put your logo on this product!)
can't turn it off!.......2007-08-14
I bought this for my room because I wanted a clock radio that would also play my ipod. After just 3 days, the power button stopped working and it stayed on. I took it back to the store, exchanged it for another one and the second one did the same thing!! This time it took about 3 weeks to screw up. Now I can't turn the power off and am forced to awake to the horrible buzzer sound every morning. Sound quality not great but adequate. Never did have the hissing sound.
Horrible Sound - You get what you pay for!!.......2007-05-29
Initially, this looked like a great buy - the price was good and the product looked nice. However, there is a constant static/buzzing noise that comes from the speakers. I read that if you left the IPOD backlight turned on it would help with the static, but it doesn't make any difference on mine. I find that if I turn the volume up loud, the buzzing lessens, but I bought this for my office and cannot play loud music. My recommendation - return this product and pay more for something that works!!
Emerson Radio sells defective products!.......2007-05-22
I received Emerson's iP100 as a Christmas gift and within two weeks, the power button would not turn the radio off and the radio no longer played or powered my iPod. I returned the radio, paying $8.50 in shipping costs which were never reimbursed, and received a second radio after a month and a half. Within one and a half weeks, the second radio broke in the exact same manner as the first. Yet, when I contacted Emerson to receive a refund for their defective product, they told me they do not give refunds. Now I can either return my radio for another defective radio, wasting time and money, or I can simply lose $60 on my purchase and forget the whole ordeal. I will never again buy any product with the name Emerson Radio.
