Great for price.......2007-09-30
This machine is very handy and portable. The sound quality is somewhat lacking, but in this price range, I think this stereo is a good deal. I use it in the kitchen while cooking and take it outside while gardening. It charges your ipod and is fairly user friendly. The design is the sleekest on the market.
Horrible battery life + less than average sound = not overly impressed.......2007-09-14
I bought this for a new bathroom that doesn't have an electrical outlet near the shower. The selling point for me was that it has the option to run on batteries--six AAs for normal use, plus two more for backup features. The sound it produces is about what you'd expect for an $80 all-in-one, and it clunky and cheap. Radio reception is not impressive. The deal-breaker for me, though, was how it drains the batteries: I used this primarily during my morning showers and the batteries died within three weeks. Thus my search continues for the perfectly portable iPod speaker system.
Great iPod FM/AM Radio and Alarm Clock.......2007-08-13
I enjoy my new Emerson iP500WH player. It is has great features: set Alarm Clock to use iPod, remote can be used to set Alarm, change songs on iPod, and set AM/FM radio stations and change the stations with the remote. It is perfect for the kitchen, bedroom, or for just relaxing outside on the porch.
Only bad feature is that you can't change between different artists with the remote. You have to change it manually by hand.
Overall, if you are looking for something relatively cheap with great features and sound, then this is the product for you.
Great ipod speakers.......2007-07-19
We were exceedingly pleased with the sound quality and mechanics. Love them! And we're picky about our tunes.
Does the job.......2007-04-12
I bought this to use in my kitchen and have had no problems with it at all. I like that it doesnt take up too much space. I know the sound isn't the best on the market but for the price I think it does quite well. I was only conserned with having music while I cook and the iTone does just that.

Customer Reviews:
good stuff.......2007-01-19
this combo radio and ipod player is great. has decent sound and has a considered design that looks good while working.
Excellent for entire family.......2007-01-10
Yes my husband purchased one for me and I absolutely love it. It functions as an alarm clock as well as a docking station and radio. My kids liked it so that he bought four more. My kids are between the ages of 10 and 5 and they dock their ipods and set their alarm and I have more troubles with them waking in the morning for school. God Bless Emerson.
Decent system..........2006-08-14
Recieved this speaker system for my Ipod 30G video. The unit is very small and looks nice. The display is bright and easy to read. It's a simple system that plays your Ipod's music or tunes in FM or AM radio. I haven't used the wall mount kit so I can't comment on that.
Pro's: Small in size, looks great, FM and AM radio comes in very clear, lots of preset stations.
Con's: No bass or treble settings, Ipod does not lock into unit very securely-it docks in but never seems fully secure while attached to unit, the controls can play, stop, FF, or RR your Ipod's current playlist or album but if you want to switch playlists or albums you'll have to manually set it up on the Ipod.
Overall- it's a decent system but really needs an equilizer, a more secure dock for the Ipod, and full control over the Ipod.
Convenient mount makes kitchen use easy.......2006-06-01
I bought this for my kitchen to mount under our cabinets. It works well for the space and is easy to use. Installation was okay - we had to reinstall twice to make the mount work correctly.
Pros:
Good sound for my mid-sized kitchen. The sound is clear and easy to here even in another room.
Remote is convenient and easy to use.
Under cabinet mount gets the unit up and off my counter top so I don't have to worry about getting the unit wet.
The unit can be removed quite easily and used on battery when needed.
Cons:
When my iPod (30) is sitting in the cradle it does not seem stable - it is very loose so I am worried about the mount connection becoming damaged. I don't know if another size iPod would be more stable.
The FM antennae is a wire that is screwed into the back (can be removed) so it is inconvenient to move with the unit.
The unit can be snapped back and out of the way and the clasp is not as strong as it should be - if we bump the unit it will fall down easily.
Overall I am satisfied with this product. As you can see from my review, the Pros outweigh the cons for me.

Emerson Radio sells defective products!.......2007-05-22
I received Emerson's iP100 as a Christmas gift and within two weeks, the power button would not turn the radio off and the radio no longer played or powered my iPod. I returned the radio, paying $8.50 in shipping costs which were never reimbursed, and received a second radio after a month and a half. Within one and a half weeks, the second radio broke in the exact same manner as the first. Yet, when I contacted Emerson to receive a refund for their defective product, they told me they do not give refunds. Now I can either return my radio for another defective radio, wasting time and money, or I can simply lose $60 on my purchase and forget the whole ordeal. I will never again buy any product with the name Emerson Radio.
Horrible Hiss!.......2007-04-21
Got 3 of these at a store grand opening for under $20 each. They're not even worth that! The hissing is horrible, and you can't wake to your iPod! They're going back to the store tomorrow.
DO NOT BUY.......2007-03-20
Don't Buy this... The Hissing from the speakers is terrible. I only had it on for 2 minutes...
WASTE OF MONEY!! There are 20 Dollar units that sound better than this one!!
Piece of JUNK!.......2007-03-13
Well in fact piece of junk is giving it a compliment. Bought one this weekend, and the buttons already have stopped working, and I have to hit them several times simply to get any output at all, if you want to call a constant hissing sound output. I can not even listen to it at work (which is what I intended because the sound is so distracting and the piercing screech is mind numbing. DO NOT BUY!!!! Please spend the extra money, I assure you that you will find purchasing the iHome much more useful and you will not spend the extra money in gas to take this JUNK back to the store.
Bad product!.......2007-03-08
I only give one star because it won't allow me to give zero. I thought this would be great - not a large profile, listen to the radio, have my alarm and dock my iPod! What more could I ask for? How about a dock that actually took my iPod so I could hear it out of both speakers without actively pressing down on the top of it or speakers that didn't buzz constantly, messing with my music? I bought two (one for me, one as a gift) and sent them both BACK!

Customer Reviews:
Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Customer Reviews:
If you want good sound, this is not the one for you........2007-04-15
I can't recommend this stereo to anyone. I first purchased the iTone E600Bk. I got it to use at work and it has great sound, but it's not a portable unit. There is no handle, and the dock sticks out on the front and I was afraid I might damage it taking it to and from work. So I bought the iP550 as a replacement. It doesn't even come close to the 600. The sound is shallow and flat and there are no adjustments. What a waste. The only good points about the 550 are it's light weight and it has a handle. Save your money and if you want good sound and don't have to have a portable unit, get the iP600.
Not bad for the money.......2007-01-06
I bought this unit for my office and I find that it does a very good job. Two drawbacks are the angle of the clock (hard to see viewing angle; you need to be almost on top of it) and it does not fit the 2nd generation nano properly (very tight - I was worried that I might bend the pins inside my nano. I used a larger adapter that came with the unit. The radio's stationary so no worries about it falling out)
But mostly I'm happy with the performance.
Won't even turn on.......2007-01-02
I can't tell you how this product performs, because I can't even get it to power up. When I plug it in, I get no response from the unit whatsoever. I initially thought it was a power cord issue, but I tried two other cords I had and neither worked. I am extremely disappointed. I ordered the Jwin Electronics I552BLK to replace it.
Good product.......2006-10-01
I at first had bought the iLive product and had to return 2 of them because they didn't work (AC plug didn't work)
This one has worked great for a month and has smart features like not charging the ipod when running on batteries. It's missing the CD player the iLive had but hey, if you have an ipod, why do you need a CD player? It's also about 1/10th of the weight of the iLive. This one is very portable and music quality is great for a unit this size.
Only downsides to this unit are nowhere to store the remote control and limited features on the remote (switch bands, volume, skip songs, power) but other than that, it's been a great unit....I'm only sorry I didn't get it earlier.

Great for the price.......2007-09-17
I went for this speaker system after looking at lots of others. Overall I am very happy with this item. Sounds good, easy to use, lightweight. My only complaint is that the clip for the nano will not fit. The nano will fit in the clip, but the nano will not attach to the plug with the clip on it. The nano is secure for the most part, but if you plan on doing a lot of traveling with the speakers you should procede with caution. If you are looking for good sound and a good price, then this is it.
Great sound.......2007-09-09
This is a very portable Ipod player (which is just what I needed for my hubby). It has an alarm and plays the radio or ipod. It has great sound, not tinny at all. It's great because it can run off of batteries or the wall charger (which also charges your ipod). The only thing I wish it has was a treble and bass equalizer options, but this is really a great product.
