Works well, but I have gone through two now.......2007-03-08
I am so torn on how to rate this, but I want to say first that I have read a number of reviews here on Amazon and elsewhere complaining about the "static" that this device allegedly produces. Anytime you mix power and sound, you get problems with grounding. There is a device called a "ground loop isolator" (GLI) that will eliminate the buzz. The buzzing is NOT a result of this being a crappy product, it is a result of poorly setup audio inputs in cars (either 3rd party or OEM). If you are not using a GLI, expect to have annoying buzzing when using a device like this, but don't blame it on the device itself.
I am on my second one of these, contemplating buying a third (and no, not because I like to stockpile them and/or waste money). My first one started to come apart between the wire and the part that plugs into the iPod. It may have partially been my fault, as people tend to tug the wire sometimes and it might have pulled loose, but I like to think that this thing should have been able to handle a little bit of that.
So I replaced that first one once it fell apart completely (mostly aggravated at that point by me trying to fix it), and the one I have now always cuts out the left channel. I have to unplug and replug the 1/8" connector over and over again to make good contact. It is highly annoying, and I am ready to replace it again. I think that the first one really might have been a problem of not enough TLC on my end, and the second one could very well be the one bad one out of a batch of many, but I really hesitate to buy a third at this point.
But the reason I am even considering it after all the trouble I have had is that when these things work, they work really well. It charges and plays the music all through one wire, using the audio output of the iPod (so the iPod volume doesn't come into play). It automatically pauses when I turn off my car (might be different from car to car depending on how the power to the 12v outlet is switched in your car) which is very convenient. I wish that it could somehow magically unpause when I started the car back up, but that is technically not very feasible. The bottom line is that when this works, this is an incredible product (that I have yet to find a good competitor for from another company).
Hopefully when and if I buy another one of these, I get a good one.
Junk.......2007-01-04
Tons of static and I have a direct line running from this into my car stereo (NOT FM TUNER). It charges fine and cuts off ipod when I turn off engine but the amount of static makes it unusable. I would have been better off with just a cheap charger for the car.
You will not find a better power for Ipod........2006-03-10
I have had this Ipod car power adaptor for years. Then, it was stolen out of my friend's car. I went out and bought the first power adapter I found. It was terrible. Not all adapters are created equal.
Here's what I love about this product.
1) The cassette (or FM Transmitter) plugs into the adaptor. So when you get into the car, one plug and you are listening to tunes. Most adaptors require you to use the phone jack on the top. Twice as much work.
2) Ok, reason #1 is pretty much it.

Love it!.......2007-12-26
I love the functionality that allows me to charge my MP3 player and listen to it at the same time.
Just okay.......2007-12-11
Belkin F8V7058-APL. There is static with any movement of the connected iPod and an annoying electrical hum with the device volume control at certain levels. I don't know if it's broken or supposed to be this way. I'm too lazy to send it back and it's just acceptable for use.
Very good.......2007-07-26
I am very satisfied the product, come in the estimated time, am very satisfied with the service given by you thank you.
Would be great device if worked properly...........2007-07-06
I recently purchased this with the obvious intent of hooking an ipod into the aux jack of my car radio. In theory, this works pretty well. The charger plugs into the cig lighter socket and hooks into the port on the ipod. The charger has a port so that an audio cable can be run from the port to the radio. Charger even has a volume control for the audio out. In theory, this is great since only one cable would need to be run to the ipod. However, my charger does not seem to dock well with the ipod. The connector is always loose which results in not always getting the full range of sound. While driving, a bump in the road often loosens the connection with my ipod resulting in losing sound from the right side speakers. I have to constantly jiggle the cable. Could definitely work better.
Great Solution if you have a line input on your audio system.......2007-06-18
I recently purchased this item to connect my 2nd generation ipod nano to my audio system in my Honda Civic. They Civic comes with a Aux input so I merely connected a 3mm cable to the Belkin device and my stereo. The sound is incredible. Way better than when I was running the output through the headphone jack on the ipod. Once I set the level on the built in amp in the Belkin unit, the sound level is very similar to listening to CDs or radio. Don't have to worry about blasting my ears any more when I change inputs. For the money, this device works great.

Does exactly what I wanted it to do.......2007-12-14
I needed a car charger for my iPod and I wanted to plug the iPod in to the aux port in my Honda. Using this device I am able to run both cords from the bottom, making it easier to run the bacles in the center console of the car. IWththe built in volume control I am able to set the volume just righ for piping it through the car stereo at about the same relative volume as the radio. It works great.
Better Than You Think.......2007-11-23
This adapter has been full of very nice surprises. Because I purchased it on the recommendation of a friend, I didn't really spend much time reviewing the details of the product. Basically, it did what I needed it to do. However after I received it and started using it, I realized how good it really was. The people who designed it clearly thought through the normal problems associated with using an iPod in the car.
First problem: volume. When you have to use an iPod with the standard tape adapter, you constantly have to figure out the right match of iPod volume for car volume. Not surprisingly, this is a distraction from the whole driving the car thing. Since the adapter uses the iPod's dock connector and has it's own volume control, you can set it once and then simply control it from the car's stereo. Brilliant!
Second problem: battery. If you're using the iPod in the car, you constantly have to worry about whether or not the battery is charged and how long it's going to last. There's also the problem about forgetting to turn off the iPod when you turn off the car (which eventually kills the battery). Since the adapter leverages the dock connector, it provides charge while the car is running, and it stops playing when you turn the car off.
So until your favorite car manufacturer gets it together to have full iPod support, this is an excellent option. I highly recommend it.
my 2nd try works great!.......2007-08-25
the first one i bought was an open item (cheaper), it produced a distorted sound, my guess is that's why it was returned. i liked the idea of having both charging and aux out with only using one plug, so i gave it another shot, bought new this time and it sounds great! no issues so far! I also like the fact that it automatically stops the music when you turn off the car power (ignition).
Line-out is horrible.......2007-06-01
This product works ok as a charger, but the line-out jack adds tons of static. I thought it was a problem with my car until I tried a Monster charger. The Monster charger adds no distortion and its line-out sounds great.
all around great.......2007-03-04
i just got this, plugged it into my 07 honda fit, and it's perfect. my favorite feature is that is pauses the ipod when power to the adapter is cut off, as when i turn off my car (although that probably won't be the case for most american cars). the line out is also adjustable, making it so that i don't get static or too quiet of a signal. i've tried it with an aux-in (honda) and a tape adapter (lexus), and they both work perfectly without any engine noise, like on my other car's wired fm transmitter (another lexus). i got it used and only paid $13 for it, $18 shipped, so great deal!
