Receiving almost loud and clear!.......2007-12-26
I purchased this product after researching it here on Amazon. All in all I am very happy with the radio. It is extremely sturdy and seems well made. The reception seems good and I can get NPR radio without a problem unlike with my bedside radio. The single speaker is fairly loud, although at higher levels it does distort a little. As I tend to listen to "talk radio" in the shower, I am just at the level where it becomes an issue.
One other small issue is the LCD screen which loses contrast if placed at an angle. I have mounted my radio about a foot above head height up on a wall at the end of the shower. If the backlight is on, it makes it a little worse! This being said, now that the radio is tuned in and set up, it doesn't present that big an problem!
I agree with other reviewers that the alarm and flashlight are a little strange for features, but then, if the lights ever do go out while I am mid shower, I'm sure I will be grateful for the illumination.
As I say, all in all, a nice product that I am pleased I purchased.

I recently purchased this Sangean waterproof radio for the bathroom after lots of research & shopping around. I've been using a Sony waterproof one for years, but the power button finally wore away... Anyway, this radio is great. The look is streamlined & it is easy to figure out without reading the instructions. Functionally, the sound is great & goes pretty loud. Even better, stations come in now that didn't before on my older radio. If I had any downsides, it would be that I would like more presets. There 10, but it is 5 to each band (AM/FM). And that I would like it a little smaller for the vanity top. But the tradeoff is worth it.

Look no further when seeking out a good shower radio. This radio is superb. I read quite a few reviews and spotted this one and it is great. It pulls in stations that my previous radio never pulled in before which is a nice suprise. There are two mounting options: one is the round hanger that pops up from the back, and it can be hard mounted via the included screws with anchors. Has a nifty little light on the side for when you get stuck in the shower without the lights on, and the numbers are backlit.

Reception is really good. Sound quality is good for noisy environment in shower. Batteries have long life and clock is easy to read even when I am not wearing glasses in shower. Radio is expensive and does not come with a wall wort (battery eliminator). I would also like to have a switch to make voices more intelligible by restricting the frequency response like a telephone does.

Buy a Different Shower Radio.......2007-01-14
I have owned this radio for a few years, and have these complaints:
-Battery life sucks. I stopped using the CD feature because the batteries would run out so fast, but even without playing CDs the batteries last only 3 months with the radio being used for less than 15 minutes/day. It takes SIX C-batteries, so it gets expensive.
-The "light" feature is useless. There is a button to press that is supposed to illuminate the LCD display to show the time or station. It illuminates the LCD display from each side with a little light, rather than backlighting the LCD display. It does not make seeing the LCD any easier.
-Poor station memory tuning. The only way to cycle through the stored stations is to press a button which goes one way through the stations. For example, if you are listening to the station stored in slot one, then go up to the station in slot two, the only way to go back to station one is to cycle through station three, four, five, etc. until you hit ten and then one again. Annoying!
-I found the reception to be ok, but not great.
-The radio is a bit large. Granted it has a CD player, but it still seems very large for a shower.
I finally bought a new shower radio - one with no CD player since I didn't use it anyway - and am much happier and richer because I don't have to replace the batteries all the time!
Only lasted a short time.......2006-03-08
This radio only worked well for about 6 months, then it died. I replaced the batteries with brand new ones, and it still wouldn't work. It was never dropped, but stopped working. I only got some of the stations, it couldn't pick up a lot of them. It is a little big and bulky, especially for the shower area. I've had other radios (non shower type) for 15 years and never had a problem. I would never buy another one for the shower, they just don't last.

Broke right of the box.......2005-01-04
I got this as a Xmas gift and it has yet to work right. I tried using it in the bathroom and for the first 5min the radio actually worked then nothing, just shut off. I haven't been able to turn it on since then. Neither radio or CD function will turn on which is odd considering the clock and backlight function still work fine. Don't know if there's some special buttons I'm supposed to be using besides the On/Off one. Also the model doesn't appear on the Jensen website, am planning on exchange for another model.

I am thoroughly displeased with this clock radio.
The alarm is a tone that is quite startling and there is no way the radio can play for the alarm function.
The weather band feature does not function and I live 19 miles from the nearest transmitter. The terrain is nearly line of sight with barely any elevation obstructions. I have a couple of scanners that receive NOAA weather broadcasts very well in comparison.
The illuminated front might be adjustable in brightness, but even in low setting it still functions as a good night light and is not pleasing for sleeping.

I bought two of these for kitchen and bathroom because I like to listen to NPR while I go from room to room in the mornings. I have a couple of old, bulky clock radios for this purpose, but they are ugly and hard to tune. If someone touches the tuning dial, I have to spend 15 minutes to get my station back. So I thought this pretty little digital tuner was the answer. While they were nicer to look at, the reception was horrible. Since it was impossible to pick up my preferred stations, I had to return them (at my expense).

If you're looking for a ultra cheap clock radio with abysmal sound quality from the radio..this is it. Wasn't expecting Bose quality, but still. The most annoying feature is the blue backlight. I have to throw a towel over it just to get to sleep.

The display is much too bright, even dimmed to the lowest setting. I felt like I was trying to sleep with a flashlight shining on me.
The digital tuner works great though. I moved this radio to my kitchen and bought a new, less-bright alarm clock.

breaks quickly and hard to use .......2007-12-09
I had high hopes and ended up being very disappointed. I like that the display is larger then most shower/clock/radios, because my vision is poor and I can't see it otherwise. But now I've have gone through 2 of these and they both broke within a couple of months. It is awkward to use as others have described, but that is tolerable if the freakin thing would work. Very disappointing.

Waste of Landfill Space - Do Not Buy This Product.......2007-01-27
The radio worked for just six months before it inexplicably died. In that time, it went through a ton of batteries, which was particularly annoying, because a screwdriver is required to open the battery casing. And the memory buttons are a joke - you have to press multiple buttons to change the channel, then the on/off button twice to turn the thing off when done...after the first month, and after changing the batteries, I gave up on that feature altogether.
Amazon should pull this product.

Having read other reviews on this radio I feel lucky that my purchase lasted at least 7 monthes before it went dead. Once stung is enough. I'll never buy another Jensen product again.
Defective Right Out of the Box.......2006-12-31
Right out of the box, the LCD display was missing segments of each number so it was almost impossible to read the frequency setting, and oddly you cannot read the display at all if the radio is positioned above your line of sight as it would be if attached to a shower. While I did get the radio to play, one local FM station could be heard across about half of the FM dial, and all FM stations had a loud hum in the background. I cannot imagine how Jensen could put their name on this piece of junk.

I utterly regret making this purchase. First off the cardboard mirror fell off as I was peeling off the protective plastic from it. While I liked the preset feature, it undid itself after a day or so. Volume is extremely low-cannot hear beyond running water. Reception sucks! After a few days you could not get a clear station and the little clock display was illegible. Do not buy this product.

I've had this radio for a week and it's been a slow and painful death. From the start i noticed that I can't hear it while the water is running because it's not loud enough. Then, the tuner stopped working properly and the stations were all off by a frequency or 2. This morning, I couldn't hear anything but white noise... This thing is a waste of money! We had a sharper image one previously which was great but it broke cause it fell off the wall (suction cups!)...

I bought this radio because it's digital and I thought it would be easier to tune. The first radio I got worked about a week and I had to send it back. Amazon was very good about getting me a new one and so far so good but it doesn't get am radio stations in very good (my husband likes the sports shows). Overall, I wish I would have spent the extra $20 and got a good one. I guess "you get what you pay for" is the truth.
