Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.

Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.

Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.

The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.

My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

This is a hell of a case. Luxurious Italian leather that fits my 80GB Video iPod like a glove. On the rare occasion I have dropped mine, this case has come in pretty handy. The only drawback I can see is that you have to remove it from the case to get to the controls, but I don't like see-through cases anyway. This case has an impressive quality feel to it. Worth it to protect your iPod.

Elegant case, and tough too........2005-10-04
I wanted a case for my iPod mini that would protect it when I threw it in my computer bag. But, I also wanted it to look nice. This was the perfect solution and I'm thoroughly pleased with it. The leather is very nice and the snaps are perfectly aligned so it is easy close. The color is not quite what I was looking for but still very nice.

This thing is perfect. It protects my ipod mini and allows me access to the bottom and top! And I can fit my earphones into the top of it when I am not using them. It looks nice too. I expected it to have a clear window for the display, but I'm relly glad that it doesn't, becuase the flap does a good jobof protecting it all on its own. It fits perfectly too (contrary to the other reviews I read). My best Ipod purchase so far (besides the ipod mini itself, of course), definitely worth the $.

Covertec has created a great, premium leather case created specifically for the iPod mini. The case is very well constructed and fits the iPod mini perfectly. All data/sound port holes are properly seated and the iPod slides in/out from the top and fits snugly into a soft velvet interior. After treating myself to an Ipod Touch (if you play with one at the Apple Store, you will want one too) I looked high and low for a case to keep it in to protect the back of the Touch and flip over the front when carrying in a brief case, but still not cover the touch screen with a plastic windo to allow me access to the touch keys. Just when I was about to give up, I found the DLO Folio. Since I got the product, my Touch has never left it. I keep it in the holder to charge, sync, listen to music, watch movies (great for covering the Touch up at work when watching a video) and clip to my belt when walking. I also like the small pocket on the other side. I have put my license and a credit card in their and away I go, then when I'm in a restraunt or church, I can connect to the WiFi and surf the net. Great product which is very useful.

This is an awesome case for the ipod touch. Very classy leather, able to hide and protect the ipod touch. All jacks are accesible with this case, including headphone jack and 30 pin connecter. Theres also an opeing for the ambient light sensor for the brightness on the screen. The ipod touch fits tightly and properly into the case so that all controls inside are accessible. Also has a belt clip, I like this belt clip because its not swivel 360 degree one. The flap also has magnets so that the flap stays closed. There is also a flap on the inside for id or credit cards. Good case overall, just wish I could have paid less than $40, maybe something closer to $30.

I purchased this case to disguise my iPod touch as a Palm pilot for use at work. My work frowns on having fun 'gadgets' or appearing as if they pay you too much. So with the flip cover up, people just think i have a palm and everyone's happy! The iPod fits in the case just fine-it's just the right size. The leather is butter smooth and soft with just the right amount of squish. For added protection you will still need a screen protector.

Amazon you have done a serive to these Mac users. You taught them that they are the ones buying junk ipod products. People read and listen, you have a choice. Do not buy apple products they only work with other apple products and since apple has about 5% of the market.... Oh yes for you, NBC cut it over to their website and opened it up to the rest of the 95% of the market. So they have not lost anything, they have made more money
That is what you get for buying worthless ipods and Apple products. Apple is proprietary and that is why the Amazon Unbox does NOT support it. The .wmv files can be played on a lot of software, such as Toshiba, Creative, iRiver, Archos, Zune, and any player that is playsforsure. As with the ipods and apple files, .m4p's, can ONLY be played on Apple software.
It has not gotten old hearing people just like you complain about spending a lot of money for nothing! LOL LOL LOL
Bought this for my son.......2007-12-21
My son just turned 18 and we got him an 80GB iPod for his birthday. We gave him an eVo4 iSkin case with it, but that thing was a piece of junk. It took forever to get it on. And after it was on, the iPod looked like an alien being from another planet. And my son couldn't dock the iPod in his Luna clock radio while it was in the iSkin case. So we searched around for another case. We wanted something that would protect the iPod from every day wear and tear without going overboard. The DLO HipCase is the perfect solution (at about 1/2 the price!). The iPod fits snugly within this nice leather case. Nice and soft inside. The fold open/fold down flap has a magnetic closure to keep it secure. Easy access to the click wheel, charging port, hold button, and headphone jack. And at night when my son wants to dock the iPod in his clock radio, he can just slip it out of its case. I think the iSkin case would've required a jackhammer to get it out every night. Aside from being very functional, this case also hits a home run in two other areas: 1.) It's very stylish. Very simple design, nice leather, nice belt clip. And 2.) It's very reasonably priced. If I didn't know how much I paid for it, after having seen the case in person and held it, I would've guessed it cost two or even three times more than it did. The DLO HipCase Leather Folio is the perfect companion to the iPod Classic. A classic looking case for a Classic iPod.
Nice DLO iPod classic case.......2007-11-16
Nice case, soft and very functional. Fits the new Gen 6 80GB and 160GB iPod Classic's perfectly. Found my first one at Office Depot and I am ordering one more from Amazon with a new 160GB Gen 6 iPod Classic to go with it. If you don't care about the belt clip, there are a couple of other brands without it that are similar.

I really like this case. All the openings are cut perfectly, precisely outlining the screen, wheel, and connectors. It perfectly fits my ipod video. It's soft and comfortable to hold. I am happy with it.
3.5 stars...well, what do you expect for 6 bucks?.......2006-07-27
There's not a snowballs chance in hell that I would spend $100 extra on some fancy case for my ipod, so I just bought the cheapest one I could find. My compliments and complaints are basically the same as the reviewers below me...the good things are that the screen and click wheel are well protected, and the holes for them are exactly the right size. The flap snaps shut magnetically, so it's nice and secure. The case is well-built, and designed to last for a very long time. However, the case is a little roomy, which causes the ipod to slide up and down a little...not a big deal. The hole on top for the hold button doesn't really give you much access to the hold button. It's a lot easier just to open the flap. Once again, not a big deal. Unfortunatly, the belt clip design is horrible. There's a little screw that sticks out in the back that the clip attaches to. It's anoying, but at least you can unscrew it and take it off. What got me really mad was that the belt clip spins around in circles, which unscrewed the screw, which caused my ipod to fall off. My ipod is ok, but I was pissed nontheless. My advice: if you want something to protect your ipod while jogging or something, DON'T BUY THIS. You should instead get the case with the armband so your $300+ ipod won't be in danger of falling off and breaking. However, if you're like me and you're not that active, and you're cheap, go ahead and get this.
Cheap but good.......2006-07-27
There are flaws with every case, and the belt clip is not this case's best feature. So if you're a guy and want to clip your ipod to your belt or hang it around your neck (* Alarm Alarm Nerd Alert! Nerd Alert*!) go elsewhere. But if you're a woman and toss your ipod in your purse or pocket, or you're a guy over the age of 30 and carry it in your brief case or man-bag or pocket this case is EXCELLENT. I was purposefully looking for a case that would meet this need and this one succeeds brilliantly.
Also, it's so cheap you can get it in multiple colors--I got the orange.
The construction is very fine, the case is lined with a soft leather (or faux leather). The stiching and cutouts for the ports, the wheel and the screen are precise and perfect.
The case is 'loose-ish' but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've had previous ipod cases that damged the ipod finish when I removed it, this one lets me take it out without trouble.
Although the cover protects the ipod, I'd recommend putting a clear screen cover on just for extra protection.

Ok, so this is probably not the best protection for your iPod, but what do you want for 6 bucks? I'm cheap. If you're not, buy something more expensive perhaps...
Pros:
- It does protect the screen and click wheel nicely.
- The flip-up top magnetically shuts and holds securely, which I guess helps if you happen to drop it.
Cons:
- The belt clip is ridiculous. It's not a stationary clip. Instead it spins around, which makes the likelihood of it falling off your hip greater. This product is not for the joggers.
- The leather strap that comes with it is too short, which makes it difficult to operate the iPod when it's around your neck.
- It seems that the magnets leave marks on the areas not mentioned under Pros above. But, as long as you never take your iPod out of the case, no worries.
- This is made for the 30 GB iPod Video, but it's actually a little big for it. It leaves room for the iPod to slide up and down in the case. It makes accessing the HOLD switch difficult sometimes when the flip-up top is down. It's easier to just open the top.
If you don't care about the cons and you are cheap like me, go ahead and buy it.
