I have currently owned this product for about a year now since I got it from the store so I wouldn't go to sleep with a pair of headphones on.
Set up took about 5 min, and was easy. I read the directions for about another 5 minutes and got the gist of it. The bass is reasonable and sound quality sounds better the more you increase the volume. It is compatible with all kinds of ipods so far. The volume can go very high, so I rarely put it up there. It charges everything as long as you plug it in, so I don't have to connect it to the computer.
It seems very durable, and is small enough to carry it around comfortably. It has a pretty good design of a doughnut.
I was surprised at its smallness at first, but quickly got used to it.
Follow the directions, and you should be fine.
Highly recommended.
Note: Only for home use or a place with an outlet.

I have had this speaker system for about a year and it worked very well at first. Then when I tried to put a different kind of iPod in it, it skrewed up and ended up freezing the iPod. The sound wouldn't work and if it did, it would have a clicking noise in the background. I put my old one in there and it skrewed that one up also. I ended up having to get a new iPod. If you are looking for a one iPod speaker for not very long, then it is alright, but not many people are.

I wanted something to be able to play my IPOD while I work in the kitchen, without a mess of speakers and wires. This is compact with tremendous sound, no set-up involved at all... just plug it in, insert IPOD, enjoy.

This speaker/docking arrangement is great. I have 3 of them placed around my home. The sound is good, the volume goes loud enough for daily use. I have used mine daily for about 13 months without any problem of any kind. If you already have a main stereo system I would suggest the Kensington dock that will play your iPod right through you system. Otherwise get this JBL. I also use my JBL when I go a friend's home who doesn't have an iPod.

I bought the JBL On Stage II speaker just yesterday and tried it out last night. I am highly impressed with the sound quality. It is a small speaker that gives off comparable quality to that of a Bose speaker. Of course it isn't a Bose but JBL made a fantastic speaker at more than half the price. This speaker is a Harmon product (an audio specialty company) so it's good quality and delivers an impressive sound. I'd buy it all over again!

Great sound, but the product ships with a 120V power adapter. Totally useless for an international traveller. Since every other adapter I own is 100-240V, I plugged it in on a foreign trip and it burned out. Of course no mention of this limitation in the owners manual--you have to read the fine print on the back of the adapter. Come on, JBL, wake up! Let's see if Amazon will replace it.

I have been through two of these speaker docks so far, and both have had something break. The first dock's remote control stopped working within 2 weeks of me buying it. I exchanged it for another one at the Apple Store, and it worked fine for 4 months. Then the dock stopped working properly, meaning when I attempted to use either of my iPods on the dock, the sound would be fuzzy unless the iPod was held in a certain position. Disappointing.

This is not to be your main speaker. It is small and the sound is a bit screechy. But for small tasks -- like background music for falling asleep or having a cozy dinner -- it will do well. Main problem is the bass. Cannot possibly deliver good bass. But it is a very good system if your expectation matches its size.

I had a chance to try other docking stations, this is the one for me. Besides good quality sound, I like it's size. It's worth the money. I tryed the Bose, but found it too big. My JBL On Stage Micro is perfect for traveling.
Decent sound quality, USB connection woes.......2007-07-14
I bought this item because it serves three purposes:
- docking my iPod and syncing with iTunes
- charging the iPod
- speakers on the go
The latter two functions work fine. The sound quality is decent for the size of speaker that is in the casing and for general outdoors use it works fine. The remote is a nice feature for controlling the volume mostly.
The problem is with the USB connection. All the connectors (Audio in/out, power and USB) sit in rounded holes in the base of the unit and while the power and audio cables are provided with the unit, the USB mini cable for connecting it to your PC is not and it is extremely difficult to find a cable that fits into the base. That's because almost all USB mini cables default to a square rubber housing for the USB plug that doesn't fit into the round hole in the base of the unit.
I'm still looking for the right cable or eventually will have to take a Stanley knife to one of my existing cables to make it fit.

I just wanted to be able to listen to my iPod at the office withour putting on headphones - is that too much to ask? A friend of mine had one of these sweet little stereos and she LOVED it, so I figured I'd try it out - and I'm glad I did. It's delivers great sound, but is small enough that it can sit on my desk at work and not draw any unwanted attention (don't want someone noticing it and walking away with it).
It's compatible with *all* dockable iPods.
Volume control is a breeze with these small silver buttons that you simply touch. No pressing buttons, no twisting dials ... it's kinda cool.

I got the JBL on Stage B for my boyfriend over the holidays because he would be doing a lot of traveling for work, and I thought this gift would be good for traveling. It ended up being one of his favorite gifts, and he uses it for all occasions. He has had no problems what so ever, and the speakers play great!
