Serious control problems.......2007-10-14
Like others who've written a review for this mine doesn't work well. You push the buttons as hard as you can and sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't...it's completely random and it does seem to get worse the longer you're out in the snow.
Never Really Worked.......2007-04-12
Once I opened the box and tried it out the Play button did not work. Only things I could get to work was the volume. After using for about 2 hours the volume stopped working. When it was working you really had to touch he right spot to get it to work, which sucks when boarding down a mountain with gloves on.
Belkin sportCommand.......2007-01-31
Sometimes the button may be hard to push with my gloves on/off, but I just push it again and it works fine... It's no different than my iSkin that's on my Nano, where sometimes i spin my finger on the controls disc and it doesn't work because of the plastic that's on top of the nano controls. As for volume, if you hold onto it, the volume will increase as if you were to spin your finger around the ipod control disc really fast.. I just tap it and it increases/decreases fine. If you pause it, I think the nano may auto-shutoff after X minutes, but you just hit play once to turn it on and again to unpause it. You can just as easily turn off the ipod by holding the play/pause button down. There's no need for a mute button which is when you can just pause the iPod. People asking for shuffle; it's no different than having to manually set your iPod to shuffle mode before you play your songs. The product was advertised as is, and why would people go out and buy it, and assume it has more bells and whistles besides "Play", "Pause", "Stop", "Next", "Back", "Volume Up", and "Volume Down". That's all it has. People ask for too much. As for the cold, I've never encountered the sportCommand freezing on me.. I've tried it at Jay Peak, Stratton, Mountain Creek.. All have been fine from 0 degree weather to 40 degree weather... i'm not the picky type and it gets the job done. That's all that matters to me.
Great Concept and Design, Lousy Performance........2007-01-11
Great idea and the design is really good as well. I love the idea of either a velcro attachment or just hooking it on a loop.
I have now tried it on 3 different iPods. One first generation where it worked poorly at best. When I say it worked poorly, specifically, pushing a button would either not generate any action about 20% of the time, or would over do the action by making the volume turn up endlessly until it hurt your ears and no way to stop it. Or it would just keep skipping forward endlessly. If you paused it for more than a minute or two (i.e. a chairlift ride) you would have to dig out the iPod to start it again before it responds.
On the newer models it worked much better with no reaction remaining at around 20% of the time, but I could stop the endless volume increase or skipping.
I think this will be a fabulous product in the second or third generation when they get these little annoyances worked out. I am still using the product as I like the weatherproof nature, but with this product I need to remove my iPod from my jacket several times a day just to fix the problems of the remote.
I doubt anyone from Belkin ever reads these reviews, but what I would tell them is include a mute button and make it work 100% of the time and you have a great product. As is, it rates fair at best with a new iPod and poor with an older one.
Should have been called the thing that should not be.......2006-12-17
Terrible just terrible, this item just didn't work, it didn't work close to the ipod it didn't work far from the ipod, nothing... and then it did decide to work for about a second and a half, but the button got stuck and the volume just increased to the very top, and since i have Shure e4c headphones i almost went deaf. Anything we tried to do, and all the ipods we tried (3) did not yield any result. This product just does not work!

Customer Reviews:
great, but this must have line of sight to work... .......2007-12-19
I used it with my 80gig video ipod. Works as ordered, But must have line of sight, wont work in a pocket, etc.... great for sitting on stereo tho... Great price.
Won't go through walls.......2007-10-23
This item woorks fine if you're able to aim the remote directly at the unit. I was looking for something that would control my iPod through walls, though; looks like I'll have to keep looking.
True "Plug 'n Play".......2007-09-30
This wireless remote control is a true plug and play device. Just plug the base in your iPod and voila, it works! You can't get any simpler than that!
Best Price & Design for an iPod to Stereo Hookup.......2007-03-28
I was looking for a remote control for my iPod which is connected to my home stereo system through the top "earphone" jack and thought I'd give this one a try since it's transmitter connects through the bottom port on the ipod leaving the top open for the stereo cable. Hooked it up and it works great! Don't waste your money on an expensive name brand model when this one does the same for so much cheaper! If all you need is a remote control this baby is for you.
*Update - Just thought it important to note that this remote does shorten battery life. After about 4-5 hours of use I have to unplug it and recharge my iPod as opposed to the regular 25-30 hours of use without it. Not a major drawback, but worth mentioning that it draws power from the battery and not an outlet
The best for your money.......2006-12-19
This remote works perfectly, just plug and play.
Totally recommended.

Works great.......2007-08-27
Works great, the only problem is trying to plug it in with a skin on it. But besides that, it's awesome and we use it all the time.
VERY handy, works as well as advertised.......2007-05-28
I am most impressed with this remote, especially for the money. It has worked throughout my house, and since I don't have a remote for the stereo that would do this, I can also control the volume, so if I answer the phone, I can mute(pause) the playback, or just turn it down. This was exactly what I was looking for, a way to control the IPod that was connected to my home stereo. I have not tested the limits of the remote's signal, but my house is over 1650 sq. ft. and it has worked in every room and the garage. I could not find this for under, $30 was the least I think, so this was also a great bargain. If you need a remote for your IPod, buy this one!
RemoteTunes Wireless Remote for iPod.......2006-03-22
This remote for the Ipod is amazing. It uses radio frequency to work the ipod from any location- even through walls. It works well from any floor of the house, even from outside on the deck! We have speakers on the deck, and play music throughout the house when we are grilling out, and it's nice to be able to ff/rewind and change the volume and pause with the remote. The remote is very small, and is very convenient when attached to a lanyard to hang around your neck. A must-have for any Ipod when entertaining.
Fill the whole house with music...skip tracks from your chair!.......2005-12-02
This is really a 4.5! The stand serves as a charging station and sets the "tone" for the nice package that this nifty gadget brings to the table! Literally, you can sit at the dinner table with your guests, and a track comes on that doesn't fit the mood of the food or the attendees, one quick click and on to the next track from two or three rooms away. Change volume as well--I went halfway down my block and still was able to switch tracks in my garage, so I can easily keep my iPod safely inside by the stereo while I entertain guests out in the backyard with music and my witty banter! BONUS! And it can easily clip to your belt for ready access...Love it--so close to five stars..
Useful.......2005-10-24
I really like the remote for my iPod Color. It works great most of the time. Sometimes it hard to get my iPod to recognize it but most of the time it's great. The only thing is now it won't be compatible with the iPod Video since it has the two plug ins on top. It does work through walls. I have it connected to my TV for the sound in my room and use the remote in my bathroom. Since it does plug in the top you can't use your iTrip with it so it's pointless (for me) in the car.

Customer Reviews:
Much better than the imuff.......2007-01-12
After a frustrating experience with the rather ugly Imuff (frail parts, awkward setup tinny sound), I bought the Naviplay and opted to use my own earbud speakers. It beat the Imuff hands down. The setup was a snap and I'm able to use my Samsung phone with the Naviplay. This is by far the best bluetooth/wireless headphone setup available.
One more fragile entry into the Bluetooth marketplace.......2006-03-24
This Bluetooth transmitter worked 2-3 times with an ipod mini - after that, it refuses to take a charge, and TenPlay support is pathetic - email only, 48 hours or more between responses, and not even remotely helpful.
Apple - PLEASE BUILD BLUETOOTH IN!!! we shouldn't have to tack-on crap like this to simply use existing good technology.
broken.......2006-03-09
I was anticipating the use of wireless headphones with my ipod and looked forward to the new technology, howver, after several frustrating hours I determined that the naviPlay system was flawed in that there was something not connected internally as a rattle was heard from the interioir. The item was returned.
I did enjoy the experience of purchasing from Amazon.com from beginning to end and will use their service again.
