Amazon.com Product Description

Designed as a digital wireless stereo speaker system for the iPod, the Eos wireless audio system offers an easy solution for a unified whole-home speaker system without the wires. The system comes complete with a base station/speaker with universal dock for an iPod, and one wireless remote speaker with simple plug-and-play technology. The system can expand to up to four wireless speakers with a wireless range up to 150-feet indoors and up to 300-feet outdoors. For added convenience, the system also includes an infrared remote control and auxiliary line input for playing other audio devices. The dock will charge your iPod even when the system is off.

A unified whole-home speaker system for the iPod--without the wires.

SRS WOW technology significantly enhances the quality of mono and stereo sound.

The Eos Base Station Transmitter
It all starts here! The Eos base station transmitter broadcasts interference-free CD quality audio throughout your home, inside and out--up to 150 feet to up to 4 wireless speakers...all while charging your iPod via the Universal Dock. The base station also boasts a great sounding 2.1 stereo speaker system, with two tweeters, a ported down firing subwoofer and SRS WOW! sound enhancement technology.

With Eos, you can broadcast music from your iPod or connect to Eos' auxiliary analog 3.5mm input to broadcast audio from any audio source (XM or Sirius Satellite radio, San Disk or Zune MP3 players, computers, CD players, stereos...anything with an audio output. )

An Infrared remote is also included for base station iPod control.

The "WOW" Factor
Eos incorporates SRS WOW!, an award-winning, patented technology that significantly enhances the quality all audio material. SRS WOW! restores detail and purity to digitally compressed audio and provides immersive 3D surround sound from stereo speakers.

SRS WOW! makes up for the limitations inherent in smaller speakers by providing a panoramic three-dimensional audio image that extends the sound in both the horizontal and vertical planes well beyond the speakers the physical placement of the speakers themselves. As a result, we can dramatically improve Eos' audio performance without enlarging the speaker size. The SRS WOW! technology is embedded in the Eos base station and transmitted to all Eos wireless stereo speakers.

Set speaker on a countertop or bookshelf, or mount directly on a wall power outlet without mounting brackets.

Eos Wireless Stereo Speakers
Wireless multi-room audio has never been easier. Just plug an Eos wireless speaker into any wall outlet, inside or out and turn up the volume...that's all. Want to move your music to another place? Just unplug it and plug it in somewhere else, it's that easy. The Eos base station allow you to add up to four wireless speakers anywhere around your home. The rugged design of the Eos wireless stereo speakers makes them perfect for indoor or outdoor use.

Speaker Design
The design of the wireless remote speaker features a removable, integrated power supply that allows the speaker to mount directly on a wall power outlet without mounting brackets. By removing the power supply from its cavity on the rear of the cabinet, the stereo remote speaker can sit independently on a counter top or bookshelf. The supported surround sound feature improves dynamic audio performance, expands the size of the audio image and improves low frequency sounds.

Signal
Proprietary wireless transmission technology uses a dynamic frequency hopping modulation scheme that operates in the 2400 to 2483 GHz frequency for advanced error protection and correction, allowing the speaker to operate free of interference from Wi-Fi signals, Bluetooth signals, or cordless telephones. The system comes backed by a 1-year manufacturer's warranty.

What's in the Box
Stereo base station, wireless stereo speaker, and IR remote control (iPod not included).

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars SOUND THROUGHOUT MY HOME.......2007-10-20

Originally I had planned on spending over $10,000+ to have music throughout my home. But with the EOS Wireless system and four speakers I can have beautiful digital music playing in all or just some of the rooms of my house. Each speaker's volume can be adjusted from completely off to as loud as you like.
The sound is superb and is great for parties or simply for my own audiophile enjoyment. I installed it myself and I am hardly a techy. My girlfriends think I am brilliant.
I recommend this to any audiophile who has an IPod (any MP3 player), or like me, has an extensive Music Library on my computer.

3 out of 5 stars Excellent Service; not so great product (not the seller's fault).......2007-08-30

I oredred the EOS system because I liked the idea of being able to filter sound throughout my home wirelessly. Well, the sound quality wasn't on par in my opinion. It was very fuzzy and the speakers would get staticy on songs with low bass lines. This again was no fault of the seller's. I received excellent customer service, speedy responses and delivery. In the future, I will not purchase electronics via the Internet (based on reviews) unless I have experienced them for myself first.

4 out of 5 stars Finally, a wireless system that sounds good!.......2007-07-19

I have an older house with walls that fall apart if I start putting holes through them for moving speaker wire around. I have been waiting for worthwhile wireless speakers for some time. While EOS may not be perfect, I have been impressed with the clarity, range, and ease of use.

Pro's:
- Easy to use and very intuitive. I was playing music within 3 minutes of taking it out of the box.
- The wireless speaker worked over 100 feet away on a different floor
- Recharging the iPod Nano Gen 1(which fit just fine) was a nice, convenient feature.
- remote was handy. Ability to add up to 4 speakers is a great option
- several friends have commented on how nice it looks, sounds, and how they wish they had one in their home (we've been using ours in the kitchen)
- no skipping in any of the music; the wireless did not interfere with my 2.4 Ghz phone or wireless modem signals.

Con's:
- no off switch; there are blue lights on the base unit and antenna when it is plugged in as well as the antenna on the wireless speaker when plugged in. Seems like a waste of energy.
- the wireless speaker's volume is not controllable via the remote. Only the base unit is controlled by the remote. You can adjust volume on the top of the wireless speaker

If wireless speakers is what you are after, the EOS is a good option.

    2.1-CH MUSIC SYSTEM

    Amazon.com Product Description

A great gift for iPod owners everywhere, the iLive IBCD3817DTBLK portable boombox integrates a built-in iPod docking station with a slot-loading CD player and AM/FM tuner, making it a true all-in-one portable audio system. The unit starts with the iPod dock, which plays and charges your iPod 3G, iPod 4G (click wheel), iPod photo 4G, iPod video 5G and 5.5G, iPod mini, and iPod nano 1G and 2G. The CD player, meanwhile, supports CD, CD-R, and CD-RW formats, letting you listen to any CD tracks that you haven't yet uploaded to your iPod, along with a friend's CDs. Finally, you can catch up on the news, listen to the game, or catch a commercial station via the AM/FM tuner, which offers a number of station presets for easy channel surfing.

The IBCD3817DTBLK owes its high-quality 2.1-channel sound to its pair of front-firing stereo speakers and dual subwoofers, which combine to produce a rich audio performance with a surprisingly deep bass response for such a compact unit. Also adding to the audio quality is a built-in equalizer with several preset settings, including rock, pop, jazz, classic, and DBBS. And thanks to the full-function remote control, you can control the CD player and iPod from a distance. Other details include a sleek black housing; a six-digit blue backlit LCD display with a digital clock and timer; CD track programming; a 3.5 mm auxiliary input for connecting other audio players, like an iPod shuffle or MP3 player, an audio/video output for connecting an iPod photo or video to a TV; a stereo HP jack; and a comfortable carrying handle. The iLive boombox, which runs on AC power or eight D-size batteries (not included), measures 18.8 by 8.8 by 9.2 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

It was a gift... he liked it a lot... we had seen another friend with that same boombox except this one was white... :)
    Thanks.

    3 out of 5 stars A little disappointing.......2007-11-05

The sound quality falls off quickly at higher volume.
Has a healthy appetite for batteries - 8 "D" cells at a time.

3 out of 5 stars iLive Portable Boombox.......2007-09-14

I have been very disappointed with the iLive Portable Boombox...the sound is very distorted and doesn't have a true stereo sound. A regular boombox from Wal-Mart has a better sound than this.

1 out of 5 stars Lots of features, but awful sound quality.......2007-09-02

I bought this to take on my boat. The small size, broad feature list, great price, and decent Amazon reviews convinced me this was the right product. Unfortunately, this product failed miserably in the most important area: Sound Quality.

The sound is very thin and tinny. No bass, even with the built in bass enhancer set to the maximum. I set my iPod EQ to Bass Enhancer and this didn't help either. Believe me when I say I tried everything, i.e. various built-in EQs and iPod settings, but could not get acceptable sound. My wife (who admits she does not have an ear for detail) said the sound was just plain awful.

On the plus side, returning the product was easy. Amazon even covered the shipping costs. I simply selected "Does not meet my quality expectations" as the reason for returning it. I was surprised when the message appeared on my browser saying "Since this was our fault, we'll cover shipping", or something similar to that.

Bottom line, if you don't care about sound quality, then this is the box for you. On the flip-side, if you have even a slightly good ear for sound, then stay away.

2 out of 5 stars very disappointed by this box.......2007-08-26

I was really looking forward to this being the solution I've wanted for listening to my iPod out loud, and also updating to a newer radio & CD player.

The CD player seemed adequate, though I didn't use it much No mp3 discs capacity, which I was a little disappointed to learn. But then after considering that it would play my iPod, I decided that wasn't going to be that much of a loss. Upon further reflection, I think it should be able to do that, it would be nice to get the same songs playing in shuffle via disc, then I could leave my iPod at home. I suppose that feature is left off to reduce cost.

Changing modes and inputs was difficult to figure out. There's a switch that affects the treble/bass, I think it's called ODDB, something like that (I've already returned the unit, sorry.) There's also 4 preset EQ settings to cycle through, 5 I suppose if you count "none". The bassiest one, Rock, still didn't get it there. Perhaps because of the CD player's inclusion? that they've designed this with so little bass response, but it just sounds flat and plastic-y, woefully inadequate. There's grill coverings on both ends so I thought it had side speakers too, but there aren't actually speakers behind them.

The iPod functions great with this. Considering that's the main purpose I planned to use it, it doesn't make any sense that there's so little low end bass output.

Lastly, once I *finally* figured out how to get to AM radio, in order to listen to THE WORLD CHAMPION ST. LOUIS CARDINALS broadcasts, it just flat out sucks. KTRS here in St. Louis is not that powerful of a station, but even dialing in 50K watt KMOX, it still was not a clear reception. That's pathetic, folks.

I thought the remote would be a nice tool, but it needed to be aimed DIRECTLY at the reception area, wherever that was. Pointing it from 2 feet away from above got no response. It needs to be exactly level with it on the ground, so apparently there's a line-of-sight that needs to be achieved for any remote functionality.

But the speakers lacking of bass is by far the weakest thing about this box.
