Great phones.......2007-12-26
I have one of these phones hooked to my computer and two handsets throughout the house. I have used them for some time now with no problems at all. My hearing isn't real good, but I have no problem with these phones. My wife and I think they are just great, and highly recommend them.

excellent product for the price.......2007-11-16
We have had these phones for over 3 years and haven't had a single problem with them. I especially like the 2-way intercom and handset finder features.
Good Product.......2007-06-27
Lots of features. Good phone, expandable to add other handsets. I would reccommend. Unlike my old cordless, only draback is when you clear caller ID on one handset, it does not clear it on the other handsets.
Features Fall Short of Promise.......2007-06-02
We've had this system, expanded to 10 handsets, for 6 months. When our old phones and baby monitor died I wanted to buy a new set that could double as an intercom system and baby monitor, both of which are features advertised with this system. I found to my regret that this is a decent expandable system, but does not live up to its promise regarding advanced features.
PROS:
- Expands to 10 handsets fine. The extra regular handsets interchange with the original chargers fine. Only the 2 waterproof handsets have to use their different base.
- Voice mail indicator light on the top of each handset works with the phone company's indicator tone (i.e. stutter dial tone).
- Dedicated voice mail button can be programmed to dial your retrieval phone number & code for one touch message retrieval.
- Each handset has a number (based on the order in which you register them with the base) and a nickname. When you turn on room monitoring or intercom, it gives you the list in numeric order to scroll through, but also shows you the nicknames ("Kitchen", "Johns Room", etc.).
- Redial has the last 3 numbers dialed, not just the last 1.
- Good backlighting shows up in the dark.
CONS:
- None of the bases are wall mountable.
- Each handset must be configured individually. The phone book can be entered on one then told to copy to each of the others (one at a time). All other features including speed dial settings, voice mail key, ring tones, etc. have to be set on each handset.
- Ring tone choices are poor, and grating. There are no remotely "normal" ring tones that are not either gratingly high pitched and metallic, or too soft to be heard. We resorted to the musical tunes but the handsets don't ring at the same time, so it's still a cacaphony.
- The intercom feature has it's own painful ringtone that can't be changed.
- The "intercom" is more accurately termed "in house calling". The receiving handset rings, and a person must pick it up and answer it. There's no way to make it automatically go to speakerphone. So if the kids choose not to answer the phone, you can't just tell them to come downstairs to dinner anyway. So much for our plan to quit shouting up the stairs! There is one brand that works the "correct" way. Unfortunately, I forgot which it was, since I ran out of time and motivation to package up 10 Unidens and send them back in order to by the other system.
- Speakerphone won't turn on until after a few rings when calling out. You can't turn on speakerphone then dial. Our old AT&T 2 handset system allowed us to hit the speaker button to get a dialtone, then dial the #.
- Speakerphone volume max is low; it's borderline if you're using the room monitoring feature for listening to a sleeping baby.
- When room monitoring is on you cannot make or receive calls. When there is an incoming call you'll get one odd tone, then you have to quickly turn of monitoring and then answer the call.
- Handsets cannot be used as monitoring receivers (the listening end) while on the base. So they have to be well charged ahead of time, and may not make it through the night.
Recommendation: All of the manufacturers have their user manuals online. Before buying a system, download the manual and read through the details of how the features work. If I had done that, I would not have purchased this phone.
Nice phone.......2007-04-12
This phone has tons of features for the price. Sound quality is very good, however, range from base could be a little better.
Product Description
With this sleek retro design, this 5.8GHz Digital expandable caller ID system supports up to 10 handsets, comes with a USB cable to connect to your PC for downloading pictures and your Outlook phonebook. Also included is an audio cable allowing you the ability to store your very own recordable ring tones from your favorite musical tunes. Using the joystick makes navigation easy, fast and fun!
Amazon.com Product Description
An expandable cordless phone system from Uniden, the CLX465 comes loaded with useful features. By utilizing the 5.8 GHz frequency, this model offers exceptional range and greater clarity than many 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz phones. Caller ID and call waiting compatible, this retro-looking phone has a 100-number caller ID memory, while a 100-name and 400-number phonebook allow you to store all your important contacts for easy recall (up to four numbers per name).
The CLX465 supports up to 10 handsets (model TCX440, one included; also works with TCX400 and others), allowing your phone system to grow as your needs do. Handset-to-handset memory transfer moves the phone directory numbers between handsets, while a call-transfer function routes incoming calls to any other handset. You can talk between handset locations with the intercom function, and five-way conference calling lets multiple parties talk with an outside line. Use the handsets as two-way radios around the house. A room/baby monitor setting lets you listen in on another handset location. You can also access all of the phone's important features via the full-color handset LCD with simple joystick-driven menus that can be set to one of three languages (English, French, or Spanish).
The CLX465 is headset compatible and comes with a belt-clip for true hands-free communication. The last-number redial feature lets you quickly call any of the last 20 outgoing numbers, while a mute button lets you silence your end of the conversation while still allowing you to hear the other party. One of the cooler features on this phone is its distinctive ringer options. Twenty preset ringer options are provided, while an included audio cable lets you record your favorite songs and audio clips for use as ring tones. Use the USB cable to download pictures to the LCD screen; accompanying software also transfers your Outlook phonebook to a handset.
Both handset and base offer speakerphones as well as dual keypads so that you can place a call from the base without the need of a handset. The CLX465 is also wall-mountable, providing extra placement options. It comes with a one-year limited warranty.

NO REDIAL, TERRIBLE LCD QUALITY.......2007-12-01
Uniden CLX465 5.8 GHz DSS Expandable Cordless Phone with Color LCD Handset and Dual Keypads (Silver)
I gave this phone two stars instead of one because of the base three line LCD screen and speaker phone. That is the only good thing I can say about this phone. The hand set has no redial and the color LCD I would rate a 2 out of 10. The LCD is fuzzy and dated looking. The base unit has an annoying orange color and the LCD is just as bad as the handset only worse because of the terrible color. The direct link is a joke and only works if the phones are not put in the charger or if you don't make or receive a call. I really wanted to have a phone I could intercom to the kids upstairs, but unfortunately each time somebody makes or receives a call the whole direct link things turns off. To start it again each handset has to be reset, and this can only be done through numerous menu selections. I am looking for a new phone and this one is only a few months old. Also the expandable 400 handset has the same annoying and poor LCD screen and color and also no redial. I would pass on this phone. It's too bad Uniden didn't put just a little more into the LCD and add a redial button, because the base key pad and 3 line LCD features are what sold me.

Prompt service, item received exactly as promised, actually before I expected it. Highly recommend this vendor.

Good Phone.......2007-02-18
I have bought many cordless phones in the past that turned out to be junk, but this one is good quality, I would buy it again.
Overall a great phone.......2006-03-04
I've had the CLX465 for about 4 months now and I'm extremely pleased with it.
The phone (and its extension handsets) replaced a Siemens phone that I had that died on me after a year of use (and of course was out of warranty....even the Siemens CS rep told me I was better off to just throw it away then to get it repaired)
The phone has many features as many people have noted. Being able to download numbers from outlook is a big plus. Being able to download pictures and ringtones to the phone is a nice "gee whiz" factor, but it's just that...a phone is a phone...I want to talk on it and answer it when it rings. I really don't care about the ring or the picture on the phone (although you can assign rings to numbers/callers so if the inlaws are in the phone a nice siren ringtone may be in order).
Pros:
Decent range--I have a 6000+sqft home and the phone works well throughout the home and even outside. The base station is located on the mid level on the home.
Great speaker phone on the handset--I'm using the phone with Vonage and when you have a bunch of voicemails it's nice to be able to use the speakerphone on the handset. It's plenty loud and has very good clarity.
Outlook contacts sync--So nice to finally have a phone with this feature
Cons:
Amber glow--I don't care so much for the amber glow of the phone, but if you like amber then what are you waiting for...get this phone!!!
LCD resolution is poor--If you are getting this phone because you can put pictures of your callers on it and you get lots of calls from hot looking people, you'll be disappointed in what this phone will do for your dreams. Then again, if your callers look like the orcs from LOTR, you'll appreciate the lower resolution.
Handset comfort--this isn't the least comfortable phone I've had, but it's not the most comfortable either. If you're on the phone for hours at a time, you may want to look for a more confortable phone, but for 20 minutes conversations it's fine.
I'll have to see how this phone is doing after a year, but right now it looks and sounds like a winner.

Customer Reviews:
Don't buy it, you will regret it!.......2007-09-12
Bought for our business that relies completely on our phone systems. Happy at first, seemed to work pretty good but was disappointed there are no belt clips. Lasted 2-3 weeks and then we noticed the answer machine was very distorted and would not shut off. We lost several messages. Ok can live with this....things happen. Called them and they told me I would have to ship to Texas at my expense. Also told me there were no loaners I would have to live without until it was returned. 3 weeks later it arrived back. During this time we used a one line phone and am sure we missed some calls due to it being busy. Used the phone for 3 more weeks and noticed we were missing some more calls. We then realized the remote handsets were not ringing, in fact they no longer beeped when buttons were pushed. So I contacted them again and after trying to troubleshoot they asked it be sent back. I made a stink and they offered a loaner for a non refundable fee of $49.95. Are you kidding, as much as this breaks they could get rich off me. Remember this is all under warrantee. Don't say I didn't warn you
Panasonic Cordless.......2007-07-05
This is one of the best cordless phone sets I have ever owned and I have had three. It is very powerful and I have had no problems.
Great phone!.......2007-01-18
The best part about this phone is that individual units dont need a phone line and you can have them in any part of the house. I only gave it four stars because the voice quality is not the greatest. Overall it is a good choice.
It's okay. But that appears to be the best one can hope for in this category.......2006-12-22
You would think that, with the increasing number of home-based businesses and home offices, one of the telephone manufacturers would come out with a top quality phone system that hit every item on a business user's wishlist. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. We did a lot of research before we purchased this Panasonic two-line cordless phone, and it's surprising how few options there are. And, of those options, most seem to get dreadful reviews.
We've had this phone for about a year. I think it's okay -- but given the alternatives, "okay" may be the best one can hope for.
Note that I haven't used the built-in answering machine (I find the phone company's service to be easier for my purposes) so I can't give you advice about that function.
Also, it was important to me to choose a 5.8GHz system. I have a computer network that runs primarily on wireless, and I wanted to ensure there was no conflict between the computers and the phone.
The plusses:
* Audio quality is fine. Nothing to shout about, but I can hear the other person and he can hear me. I keep wishing the volume would go higher.
* The wireless range is fine. We haven't tried to stretch it at all, but one of the cordless units is at the other end of the house, probably 100 feet from the base station (which is in my office), and I haven't had any cut-outs.
* The unique ring is a feature I'd never have sought out, but I appreciate; this way, I can tell when the home line is ringing verus the business line.
The minuses:
* It can be hard to read the screens; that can be a problem when you're trying to read the caller-ID information. I wish there were a backlight.
* The base unit doesn't have caller ID displayed; you have to pick up the handheld unit to see it or, for that matter, to scroll through the calls that were missed. The only display on the base unit is for the answering machine.
* Speaking of missed calls: oddly, the "missed call list" is separate for each handset. If I answer a call in my office, the other three handsets list the number as though nobody picked up the phone. It's a minor annoyance to have to clear these individually.
* The speakerphone is borderline. It works, but -- perhaps because there are three computers on my desk -- I have the impression that the audio quality on my correspondent's side isn't that great. I usually wind up picking up the handset to talk; my husband uses a earbud plugged into his handset.
* The handset user interface takes a bit of getting used to. Even after a year, I have to search for the hold button.
The products that you grow to love always offer a little more than you expected. The Panasonic doesn't. It does the job. It's been reliable (which is more than I could say about the 5-year-old Siemens system it replaced) and it fulfills the basic phone requirements. But I wouldn't go out of my way to say "Buy this one" -- except that I've never seen a system that I thought would be better.
Personally (in case any of the manufacturers are listening) I wouldn't mind spending MORE for a two-line phone system if it was truly professional grade. Alas, nobody seems to give me that opportunity.
Decent phone.......2006-11-10
Bought this phone to replace another Panasonic (900mhz) unit that somehow got "fried". The old unit tended to get static after a short distance from the base unit, but the new unit is much more clearer. The 5.8GHz unit has a speaker phone, but it's somewhat difficult to listen too (I guess that should be expected when so much is packed into the unit). Still, I like this unit and would recommend it as a nice 2 line unit.

This stylishly modern phone from Northwestern Bell offers a clear 5.8 GHz signal with plenty of security, range and clarity; it automatically scans though the 40 available channels to keep your conversation clearly audible and static free. The handset's three-line LCD screen provides access to call waiting/caller ID (with subscription to local service) that lets you know who's calling at a glance, along with storing 20 names and numbers of your most recent callers. Return their calls at the touch of a button with the display-and-dial feature, or add their information to your 20-station phone book for permanent storage. Two-line capability makes this an ideal system for those with home offices or teenagers with private lines.

Overall disappointment.......2007-08-29
Despite having 5.8 GHZ and digital spread spectrum technology, the sound quality is poor, much worse than a Radio Shack product I purchased about three years ago but is no longer made. The handset is not comfortable to hold against the ear. Unfortunately every year there seems to be fewer and fewer 2-line cordless phone options offered. I choose this brand due to price. it was lower than V-Tech or Panasonic units. Maybe the others are better. Another complaint is that the headset buttons are very small and hard to read. There are a lot of features on this phone system but a real problem is that it becomes cumbersome to do things that should be simple, like having someone pick up the other handset and immediately be able to join in conversation. The instructions are clear and easy to follow if you have the patience to read them.

Excellent Basic Cordless Phone and Answering Machine.......2007-10-30
Some reviewers have complained about static and poor range on this phone system and its other variations (3 and 4 handset models). All I can say is that we have been VERY pleased with this unit. We have a 1900+ square foot home and we can walk throughout the entire house (and yard!) without any static, range, or volume problems at all.
Is the phone perfect? No. It's lacking some of the higher end features of more expensive models, but based on its reasonable price one shouldn't really expect it to come with power windows and a sunroof. Of note, it is missing a couple "basic" features, like a headset port and a belt clip. But if you can live without those, I can easily recommend this one.
Terrible Range.......2007-10-28
We wanted to upgrade our 90's cordless phone and went with this Uniden TRU9280-2 5.8GHz FHSS System. I can not tell you how terrible the range is and we have tried three different locations. Maybe 30 feet.
And the instruction manual is worthless. Interstingly, they are very vague about range and never tell you how far it should be. And they have a million excuses as to what could be affecting it.
So, we can not even use it in half our house. And the old phone worked fine range wise. Save your money and look elsewhere.
