save your money!!!.......2007-11-03
I bought this system for my husband to use with his ipod. The sound quality was poor . . .really muddy, especially when the bass boost and "subwoofer" were enabled. I tried unplugging the sub woof and the sound was then tinny and poor. I ended up returning it to the store. We're still on the "hunt" for an economical but great sounding system . .. this wasn't worth it.
nice system.......2007-10-14
Got this for our 10yr old son. When I asked him what he thought he said AWESOME! Good sound, easy functioning. Everything all in one is what I like & the price at Amazon.
Don't buy this - Doesn't work.......2007-06-13
This product doesn't work i recieved it and when i turned it on i only could see the blue light from de LCD but no numbers and the CD Drive didn't open. I paid for it and now i have nothing to do because it passed more than 30 days and i cannot returned it..... Don't buy this.
Awesome sound!!.......2007-06-12
This little thing ROCKS!!! I just got it today and I am already in LOVE with it! Clear crisp sound, no problems here! I was somewhat concerned after reading some of the other reviews, but not anymore. This is a great little system for the money!
Instuctions please?.......2007-05-29
I was very dissappointed with the fact that i did not receive instructions for this complex system, i am still trying to figure out how to set the clock!! But to say a few other things about it; the cd and ipod plays well. As for starting up the radio, it's a joke. The antenna is just a string with nothing else to hold it up for a good reception so the radio is always fuzzy. The LCD screen i wish would turn off when you turn off the rest of the system, it is rather bright when trying to sleep. But i am glad to say that i do not have any hissing or beeping with me stereo.

Klipsch iGroove All in one shelf system.......2007-12-24
Product came immediately, was packaged wonderfully. Plugged iPod nano in and the sound was awesome. Company delivered as promised and more. even when I dont listen to the music, my ipod is being charged. My children even used their ipod shuffles in it and the results were just as great. The quality of sound is wonderful, even with classical music.
Excellent speakers for great price.......2007-12-13
Considering the high price of the Bose system, I love these speakers. It is so convenient to have this for my iPod. The sound quality is excellent and the price I got on Amazon was well worth buying this. We use it for both the regular iPod and the iPod nano. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it does not "remember" the volume setting once you turn it off. It always starts at the same volume and you need to adjust it, louder or softer. Once you shut it off, it will not turn back on at the adjusted volume??? Don't know why they did that? Not a big deal, but kind of a nuisance when you want to start the music out low.
Rocks the room.......2007-12-07
So these are cool speakers. We bought them for the bedroom and they are very satisfactory. I am a choreographer by trade and music is VERY important in our environment here at home. I have in fact taken these to rehearsals a time or two when my portable system was on the "fritz" filled the hall with sound no doubt. My only complaint is that there is not quite as much bass response as I would prefer but for the money it is the best I have found!!! Appearance is very pleasing, easy to use and relatively small footprint!!
All this sound for $100?!??.......2007-12-07
I happened upon this system when I was getting ready to drop quite a bit of money on a Bose system. I read the reviews and started doing some research. I went to the Klipsch website. There, they sell refurb models for $100!! And that includes shipping!! I was a little apprehensive, as I don't usually buy audio equipment without hearing it. Considering the cost, though, I thought I'd give it a try.
I received my system within 4-5 days of ordering it (not bad for the holiday season...not to mention free shipping). First thing I noted was the look of it; it's very sleek and modern (and goes very well with my black 80gb ipod). The only cosmetic issue (as the result of buying a refurb) was a slight scratch in the cradle that holds the ipod. That meant little to me, as it was covered anyway!
The IGrooveHG is a simple plug-and-play system, and it even has a handle. Both of these characteristics make it quite a bit more portable than the Bose system.
I'm not sure if I chose a bad song for it first off, but I wasn't initially impressed. I thought it sounded "okay", and I couldn't expect much for $100. But then, I switched to another song and actually used the EQ on my ipod (big "duh" on my part for not doing that in the first place). The initial disappointed flew out the window. This thing sounded UNBELIEVABLE!
I played a Mozart piano sonata. It blew me away. Each and every note was crisp and clear. It sounded as though, truly, I was listening to my husband play it on our piano.
I then ran through my catalog of music and played a little bit of everything (ranging from jazz to rock back to rap to country...I truly mean EVERYTHING). After making the appropriate adjustments on the EQ, every song sounded great.
I saw that several complaints of rattling. I didn't have that problem at all; but then again, I'm also not trying to blast out my windows with a shelf system. I played it at a considerably loud volume, and all that rattled was the glassware on my countertop.
I also saw that some people have complained about the remote. When I used it, it worked flawlessly. I do have the most recent 80gb ipod, so I'm not sure if the problems are with older models or just with certain remotes.
I would highly recommend this system to anyone who would like fantastic sound without dropping hundreds more on a Bose system. I was never able to listen to the Klipsch and the Bose next to each other. However, from what I can recall, the Bose did NOT sound hundreds-of-dollars better than the Klipsch.
Don't buy the Bose if you can get this baby!!!.......2007-12-02
This unit is as good as the Bose system. You can always find this unit at a much cheaper price than it's list price. It would be worth every penny if you did pay the list price. If you need ipod speakers that sound great, get the iGroove.

Happy Customer.......2007-11-21
This unit is extremely compact, yet gives good sound and volume. Good battery life. Charges ipod when used with A/C adapter. Nicely designed. Altec Lansing has corrected the complaints I had with an earlier model.
Not happy...it was a gift and receipent is very disappointed.......2007-11-12
this was a gift for my daughter and she was very please to receive it. had some alligment problems when attempting to use adaptor for here Nano. very dispointed. currently its useable and making attempts to get some correction to the problem.
Altec Lansing inMotion IM3c.......2007-10-25
Great product, excellent sound quality, small profile and easy to use. I bought one for myself and then later for my father, he is happy with his as well.
Travel speakers.......2007-10-22
A good item to have for traveling. It is small when open and folds up for easy transportion. Keep in mind, it is not a whole house stereo. Just a way to listen to music in a smaller setting. And it works well for this. Follow the instructions for actually turning the unit on and it makes a good player for a hotel room. The music is clear and it beats the standard clock radio usually found in a hotel room. Just don't expect this item to do what it isn't designed to do.
Great portable speaker.......2007-09-10
The sound quality of the IM3c is very good at the mid to low level. This speaker system is solely used in my office, so cranking it up too loud is not an option. Its compact size makes it easy to place virtually anywhere. One feature I really like is the volume stays the same after turning the unit back on after it has been shut down, unlike the "JBL On Stage".

Sony i pod docking station.......2007-11-11
Product was delivered as advertised, functions very well, with easy installation. Would reccomend seller to all.
A must have!.......2007-11-08
I own a Sony surround system DVD player with a digital media port on the back of the player. Instead of buying external speakers for the iPod, I purchased this media port iPod cradle and thus connected my iPod to my surround system. I gained several advantages by doing this:
1. I saved money by not having to pay for expensive external speakers for my iPod
2. I saved on space, for my iPod was connected on existing speakers.
3. The sound is great, unmatched by any external speakers made for the iPod.
4. I can control my iPod with my Sony remote control. This saved me from having another remote control (as with buying an external speaker system for the iPod for example). With the remote control, you can control all the functions of the iPod
5. I connected my iPod to my TV, allowing me to watch the movies stored in my iPod on my TV screen. That feature alone is worth buying this iPod cradle.
6. The iPod cradle is cosmetically appealing.
Overall, this is really a great cradle for your iPod if you own a surround system with a digital media port.
No good for Ipod Touch.......2007-10-24
Very neat item and works well with the sony surround system I have, but if you are looking to get this to go with the Ipod-Touch it wont work. It does not show any of the video and pictures on the device. This was the main reason I bought, so a bit of a waste for me. I would go with something like the monster cable version and save yourself about $50.
Great Item to go with Sony Receiver.......2007-10-17
This is a really good product. I gave it only 4 stars because it has an on-tv-screen display menu for selecting songs and the like, however, I couldn't get it to run the video through the DMI port of my receiver and out the HDMI cable to my tv. Instead, I have to run the supplied yellow composite cable to the back of the tv, meaning I have to turn my tv's input to a different input instead of the one the receiver is on. It does work in a round-about sort of way. It could just be that I don't have it set up right. It is pretty sweet to listen to my ipod and be able to control it with the sony (or my Harmony) remote. It was kinda expensive. I feel the product should have been about $[...], however, I can't beat the control of my ipod with a remote and listening to it through my kick-butt system!
Good, but a little pricey.......2007-09-30
Would have been nice if they used HDMI instead of the typical "Sony proprietary" plug. That way, you would need on less cable.
Using the Sony remote to control the iPod isn't great, but I wasn't expecting it to be. Other less expensive units come with much better remotes, but I just like not having an extra remote that only controls one device. Using my home theater remote to control everything in my setup was my main reason for going with this model.
Also would be nice if the photo menu and thumbnails could be viewed on screen. You have to look at the iPod screen to view them, and then only after selecting an album and selecting slide show are they displayed on the TV. This is partially just the way the iPod its self is designed to work, though, but at this price I think they could have developed software for the cradle to ad this functionality.

Customer Reviews:
Great sound... usability... not so much.......2007-12-23
I have recently been sucked into the high def A/V game and in the last 3 months have been through a Yamaha v661, an Onkyo 705 an Onkyo 804, and now the HK 347. Think I needed a receiver that could process LPCM over HDMI? That's basically all the modestly priced one's right there minus the Onkyo 605 and the Panasonic xr-55.
I found the sound quality on the Yamaha and HK to be about the same (very good) with the Onkyo's not so much, but still good. Also I have found that the Yamaha may be my favorite receiver of the bunch when incorporating all the main aspects being features, SQ and usability. The HK sounds very nice, but I'm a little disappointed by the inconvenient ease of use, and the lack of DSP options on certain formats (I don't have 7.1 anymore so I haven't tried logic 7 on this receiver). They all do matrix up to 7.1 though FYI. I found a way around having to push the assigned input selector to control volume when operating hardware components. aka "the punch through problem" (involves learning its own codes).
I am now however quite disappointed by the fact that now my center channel appears to be dropping out when watching HD DVD's. HD DVD Troy, the scene where Priam goes into Achilles tent. I turned my receiver off and on and it fixed the problem but it left me a tad worried.
This receiver has about as much power as the above receivers I mentioned (don't let the rated 55 watts fool you.) I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could due to it's suburb sound quality but all the minor cracks and scrapes were just too annoying for me to round up.
Overall, it looks nice, and sounds nice, but it is definitely not worth another couple hundred than those other receivers. If you paid $475 from Amazon like I did, then I'd say good decision, but at a retail price of $899, or near that (Best Buy $810) I'd say look elsewhere where you could get a very similar product for a lot less.

HK AVR 347.......2007-12-21
My shiny new Harman Kardon AVR 347 Home Theater Receiver with iPod Control and HDMI connectivity is a fine upgrade from a HK AVR 55 that has served me well for the last 8 years. The 347 has the modern video features that are necessary to support HD viewing and sounds wonderful. A couple of more HDMI inputs would have been nice. My only complaints are that it is a bit complex to set up and that it is apparently not possible to force it to select certain surround modes as it switches modes depending on the source material. However, most of the time the surround mode is appropriate. I prefer the Pro Logic II "music" mode for most of my listening and sometimes I have to manually select it. A USB port for updates rather than a RS232 placed on the front panel instead of hidden in the back would also be a bit more modern, but at least it *is* possible to update via firmware. None of these complaints are major ones for me and I'm glad I made this choice. Did I mention that it sounds great? It does. I auditioned several other receivers, some costing a good bit more, and the 347/247 has a noticeably more pleasing sound to my ear...
Wonderful.......2007-11-14
I think this product is amazing, it is honestly my first receiver so there isn't much I can say for the experts out there. It is user friendly and very compatible to almost everything.
Great unit! Another great HK product!.......2007-10-26
This receiver rocks! This unit has no detectable noise when a source is muted - very clean preamps. When you want to make some noise it really rocks. Super clean super accurate sound. Plenty of wattage to spare. I am running all sources through the receiver and one HDMI cable to my HD LCD. It works great. Analog sources are sent through fine, as well as my HD cable. A+. Nice job HK.
somthing's wrong.......2007-08-14
I got my reciever on time, and well packaged, the specifications of the product were those i bought. Nevertheless the product seems old, used, and no new, like i ordered it. it's lacking of one of the letters in the mark in the upper side of the reciever. I didn't return it because i need to send it to my brother out the US and i didn't have time.

Such a deal...like I never saw..........2007-12-01
What surprise when I plugged my ipod in and got such great sound. I'm very picky about sound systems (not a big Bose fan) and I really liked this one.
Anyway, for this price it's a great value. Only one thing...the remote is just a little weird. I'd put up with that considering the bass response and that this is a cool looking machine!
Enjoy.
great for small spaces.......2007-10-20
we are enjoying our Itone. the sound quality is very nice and it works well with our IPOD.
Great Value .......2007-08-23
This docking station has a little bit of everything. It not only will play an IPOD but allow the user to connect an auxiliary device like the Roku Internet radio tuner, listen to CDs, and tune-in your favorite radio station. Do not expect the sound to approach that of a $2000 hifi. The reproduction is more than adequate for a small system. I highly recommend this unit for those who desire a docking station with reasonable sound quality and good features.
Good product for the price.......2007-08-20
I was looking for a speaker system for my iPod that would also play CD's and radio (which there aren't that many available) and this is a great price for all the functions. The sound is great, not quite as good as the Bose speakers but it is also much more affordable and has more functions so I think it is well worth the money. If you just want a speaker for your iPod this may not be what you are looking for, but if you want to basically replace your stereo system with one that has iPod capability I would recommend this system. No problems or issues with it, the black model looks great and fits nicely in the entertainment center. Very user friendly. The remote option is also a nice bonus. Would recommend to others.
Excellent item for normal expectations.......2007-08-12
I have an ipod (video, 80 GB) and tons of cd's.
This home audio System is not gonna blow your living room with decibels, but for a room, or a nice evening with some folks is a great deal.
The inner subwoofer works just fine, the ipod, radio and cd devices sounds clear and nice.
Beware of the ipod 5g generation adapter. It's not included (so you better keep the original ipod box with its adaptor). Although, the 4G adapter works (not recommended in the long shot).
The only downside is that the control don't navigate the entire ipod system. Just works for play/pause and to go forward and backwards between tracks. So you have to make some cool playlists.

Fantastic receiver!.......2007-12-22
Bought this receiver despite the 3.5 star review, because i have had a Harmen Kardon before and loved it. I needed a receiver that would do HDMI sound and video, but i am on a budget. Only receivers brands that were possible were Onkyo, Yamaha, Sony, and then Harmen Kardon. I had a horrible experience with Onkyo CS took me 1.5 years to get my "Fixed receiver" back. So i didn't want to live with that again. Since my last Harman Kardon was so good i opted for another. At first was worried with the reviews with this one, (Only one in price range.) But i looked at the reviews on other websites and this is the lowest review it had compared to Cnet, and others. I just needed to make sure that it had all the right inputs on it. Found out it did so i started saving.
Arrived very fast thanks Amazon I hooked it up though Cable Box(for surround via HDMI) Xbox 360 HDMI, and CD changer (Optical). I though this receiver was very easy to setup i had no issues with it. (Unlike the damn cable box and Cox) I have been listening to music, Played a DVD, and played a game and It would really good very clear. Volume is loud enough don't let the 50 watts a channel worry you. I have them paired up with Denon SYS-76HT speakers which also sound great. I highley suggest this receiver!
excellent sound, but 1080p video provides SPARKLES.......2007-12-20
Harman Kardon AVR 247 Home Theater Receiver with iPod Control and HDMI connectivity
Sonds amazing, but please be aware that the majority or ALL of these units show sparkles on the screen when you are feeding 1080p video through the unit. Search AVS forum for more info.
So far so Good.......2007-12-01
Returned the AVR 146 because it doesn't transmit audio and video via HDMI. The AVR 247 does a good job of it. I have only encountered two minor quirks. When I first power up the unit for the day I get no signal from the HDMI 1 input(my LCD TV). I first have to click on HDMI 2 for a few seconds, then switch back to HDMI 1 to acquire the signal. Minor, but frustrating. Second issue is that a couple of HD channels have a slight sync issue. The dialogue is slightly ahead of the person's lips moving on screen. Not sure how to tweak this. Over-all happy with purchase.
Great amp for the price, the sound, the connectivity options, and the looks!.......2007-10-30
This is the 2nd Harman Kardon product I own, and I'm just as pleased with this one as I was with my previous one. I hesitated to get the 247 after the negative reviews I've seen and the problems some people have with it, but for someone like me, who enjoy watching movies, tv, listen to music and play games on a game console, this is delivering great sound and great connectivity options for a ridiculous price. I'm not a fanatic like some others though. I've read issues about a -10 LFE issue. To be honnest, I found that my sub sounds terrific (a velodyne dps-12) with this amp. I've also read about issues with passthrough for 720p or lower signal, but since I'm using this amp to route video signal to 720p projector, I haven't encountered any of these issues.
I must admit I haven't tried to deal with HDMI, I'm using components and optical/coaxial for video and audio. That might be why I'm so satisfied. Bottom line: if you're looking for an amp with great sound and great connectivity options for a very reasonable price, this one should be on your list, especially if you won't be hiding your amp in a cabinet!
bang for the buck.......2007-10-18
This reciever is a great starter home theater reciever with all the connections you could ever need with room to grow. The 50 watts this reciever puts out is a clean full bandwith power and can push even the larger front channel tower speakers without distortion. The quality of this unit is outstanding. If your looking to put together a home theater i suggest you check this one out.

Best 5.1 channel receiver.......2007-12-24
I bought this receiver few months ago and understood the difference between cheap 5.1 channel receiver and top of the line 5.1 channel receiver. This receiver works great with any kind of speakers, but I would highly recommend KLIPSCH Quintent III speakers and 10" Sub-Woofer.
For the price, does the job well.......2007-12-15
For the price of this unit, it performs well. Some complain about limited HDMI connectivity. For me, this wasn't an issue as most units that have full HDMI connectivity (audio and video) costs more...and those that don't do not have the audio quality of this unit.
TOTAL VALUE FOR MONEY.......2007-11-19
Its a great product, i live in an apartment, a 5.1 is what i needed, sorry to say but thats more than enough for amazing home theater set up. hooked it up with Bose AM10s , its the best sound by far.
Save yr money by gettin this rather than a 7.1 which it almost double the price.
HK review .......2007-10-19
easy setup, nice sound, i am using this with Klipsch refrence system, and still has nice power
Don't buy this, or from this vendor.......2007-10-08
I received my AVR147 in late August. I took about a week to get the components all set up. Then I tried to run the microphone auto setup, called EzEq. It did not work. Long story short: I called Harmon Kardan several times over the next three weeks to try to get it working, including some resets. In the end, HK concluded the unit is defective. I called ElectronicsExpo, but after several days of calls, including dropped calls and endless holds, I finally got through to a rep. He said they could not process a return because it was past thirty days. By all of 10 days! If I had not tried to work the problem out with HK, I could have returned the unit long ago.
I was amazed they did not try to keep me happy. Yes, I am past thirty days, but the problem occurred within the thirty day window. Amazon should hold their vendors to a higher standard of customer service.

Ideal for dorm rooms and backyard barbecues, the iLive 2.1-channel boombox packs a solid array of features into an affordable package. The primary selling point of the IBCD3816DT is its built-in iPod docking station, which not only plays the iPod video, iPod photo, iPod, iPod mini, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle, but also charges the unit while you listen. Users will also dig the included remote control, which lets folks operate all of the aforementioned iPods (except the iPod shuffle) from a distance. It's perfect for parties or lounging on the couch, as you needn't amble up to the unit to adjust the volume or skip a track. The boombox also includes a slot-loading CD player (with support for CD-R/RW formats) and an AM/FM tuner, along with several intuitive knobs and buttons for quick and easy system control.
The boombox owes its smooth audio performance to its pair of stereo speakers and accompanying dual side-firing subwoofers, which deliver thumping bass that's far deeper than most portable iPod speaker systems. In addition, the IBCD3816DT accommodates both older iPods and other audio devices--such as MP3 players, personal game systems, and personal CD players--through its auxiliary line input. Add in a video output for playing videos and slideshows on a connected TV and you have a great boombox for the modern media landscape. Other details include a sleek white housing, four preset equalizer settings, an easy-to-read backlit LCD display with a digital clock, and a stereo headphone jack.
The boombox, which runs on either eight D batteries (not included) or AC/DC power (an AC cord is included, but the 12-volt DC car adapter is sold separately), measures 17.5 by 7.4 by 7.6 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a limited 90-day warranty.
What's in the Box
IBCD3816DT boombox, remote control, AC cord, shoulder strap, dock inserts for iPod nano and iPod mini, auxiliary line-in cord, user's manual.

Excellent value for the money.......2007-12-17
I just bought this for my daughter's birthday. $79 at Kohl's. I did a lot of research including going to the Apple store. My daugher wanted this for her iPod 2nd. gen Nano. She also wanted AM/FM and CD. Quite a tall order for something I didn't want to spend too much on. I was going to get the Logitech for $129 which sounds good but doesn't have the CD or radio. I will have to admit to not listening to this before buying it, but after getting it home and listening to it I am very happy with the purchse and my daughter is thrilled. It even comes with Aux. in jack and a USB for older iPod Shuffles. The remote is a bonus but doesn't work from very far away. As for the hiss, I'm 43 and can't hear it but my 10 year old tells me she can hear it. Frankly, nothing out there touches this for the money. In fact if you get a Kohl's credit card you get another 20% off. The fact that this has so many features, a nice back lit blue display and pretty decent sound I recommend it. Sure, if you want to spend $300 on a Bose do it, but if not this is a good buy.
Probably won't last long.......2007-08-06
My daughter received this item as a birthday gift a year ago. She used it very little. She was never happy with it because it's cumbersome and it takes up too much space in her very-limited dorm room. Her dad and I decided to buy it from her. We learned that the CD player has stopped working after only one year. Also, the sound quality is not optimal because the speakers hiss if the volume is not turned up loud. Since the CD player ceased functioning, I have a feeling other features will fail shortly. We are not pleased--and I would not recommend this item.
Don't Buy This If You're Looking for Good Quality!.......2007-07-22
I purchased the iHome thinking that I was getting such a good deal on a great sounding portable iPod docking station and boom box. I was looking for something portable that I would be able to take with me into the bathroom for those long showers. I was pleased with it at first, but it has just become even more and more annoying. I love the fact that not only does it have the radio, but also CD player, and AUX capabilities. There are more flaws though than there are pros. The biggest flaw is the hissing noise it is known for making. Even when no iPod is connected or anything, there is a loud hissing noise that can be heard. It is quite annoying. Also, the speakers aren't very high quality. The bass has to be turned all the way down for the system to have at least some clarity in the music. When the bass is all the way up, you can forget about it. It just sounds like a big, loud, clattering noise that is rather annoying. I wouldn't purchase this if you're looking for a good quality iPod player, spend the extra money and buy something nicer with a better sound. If you're using it for small periods of time, such as in the shower, it's a good buy.
Constant static sound reminds me of the 1970's AM radios.......2007-06-24
The static sound is constant no matter what volume or if you're playing from CD, IPOD or Radio. Radio reception is bad too. These are easy things to get right. The manufacturer must have had to cut some pretty serious corners to foul this up.
Awful product!.......2007-05-28
I received this as a Christmas gift December 2006. February 2007, it stopped working completely. Will not turn on, eject the CD that's currently in it, or play anything -- radio, iPod, CD, etc. I do not have the receipt anymore, and am going to have to trash it. I do NOT recommend this product, nor any other products by this manufacturer.

Customer Reviews:
Great Value for the Money !!!.......2007-12-11
If you are looking for an awesome entry level Home Theater system, look no more! After months of research and reading reviews, I decided to buy it, and got a Black Friday deal (Circuit City online) and just paid $160 + tax (free shipping). And I am so glad I did!
Pros:
It took less than 20 minutes to setup. The sound quality is just astonishing and I like the various sound options (Movies, Music, Sports, Video Game etc.). You have the option to toggle between surround sound mode and stereo audio mode. Also, you can adjust the relative volume of each speaker (including the subwoofer) to your expected performance level. Initially, the rear speakers were not as loud as I had wanted them to be, so I just used this feature to shift more volume to the rear speakers compared to the front SIDE speakers, and increased the subwoofer volume by just one point, and I was in heaven. I have been watching movies like Transformers, Live free or Die Hard and Black Hawk Down in my huge Downtown apartment living room (Victorian Style Building with high-ceiling, built in 1852) at volume level 20 (maximum is 40), and the entire apartment complex starts shaking whenever there is an action scene. The sound is clear and you can hear every drop of blood dripping in the ground or the remote sound of a chopper flying somewhere, in surround sound!!
I also play my CD's and MP3's and listen to the FM/AM radio (built-in) using this system and it delivers wonderful sound just as expected.
Potential Con's:
As far as the speaker wire goes, the wire is pretty long and it should not be too difficult to mount the rear speakers at the rear in a medium-sized room (I took them directly through under my carpet, so I did not even have to use one-quarter of the length of the wire). However, people who have really large living rooms and no carpeting might find it frustrating, especially since the wires are inserted directly into the speakers and there is no way of changing/replacing them without opening up the speakers and tearing off the original wire connection with the speakers. For the same reason, people who like to replace thin wires with their choice of thick wires will probably not be satisfied with this system.
The loading tray is very thin and appears flimsy, so just be careful when putting / taking out DVD's so that you don't break it by accident. The loading time for DVD's / CD's is a little long which can be a bit annoying at times, but then again, this is not really a technical "problem", this is just a limitation of an entry-level system, and you should not complain about it, especially at this price!
I do not have an ipod so I never had to hook up the ipod dock, and I have not used the HD upconverting feature either since I do own a HDTV yet. Also, it does not have the fancy features like Sirius Satellite Radio, Blu-ray DVD playing capability and other features that the newest models (as of now) have, but then again, you would pay 5 times as much or more to buy the latest model home theater system!!
Overall, as you have probably guessed by now, I am extremely happy with my investment and if you are looking for a great Home Theater System in a box for similar uses as mine (as outlined above), I can assert confidently that this is the system for you.
Shop Around.......2007-11-26
Check out your electronic sales circular. Prices have been varying wildly from 149 to 250. I set up my unit yesterday, was fairly easy except I connected a wrong cable and couldn't get my video to work. I called Phillips tech support and was told I had a faulty unit and I should ship it back to Philips at my expense. I finally got it to work on my own. Sound sounds great but there are no treble or bass adjustments, you have to live with the factory settings. The dvd drawer is very flimsy and cheaply made it wobbles. If I had to do it again, I buy another make like Samsung or LG which were in the same price range.
