Customer Reviews:
Good Product.......2007-12-24
This phone has worked well over the last month since I purchased it. The memory dialer is easy to use and program. The speakerphone is clear and easy to understand. I was looking for a phone to replace an older AT&T brand phone with similar features, and this was the closest I could find. It is getting harder and harder to find nice corded phones with so many folks switching to cell phones only.
The only negatives are that the phone requires batteries for the functions and it would be nice if caller ID was included.
Solid Product.......2007-12-23
This is a very solid phone. The speaker phone is superior to any I've seen in a home phone. Also, easy to plug in headset.
Works fine.......2007-12-08
No bones about it. It's a phone and it works as intented. It's also sleek. I use it as my business line and the speakphone is great.
Did not work.......2007-12-08
The phone did not work, made strange clicking noises. Big hassle to get it sent back...better to buy from a store.
best basic phone.......2007-11-27
this phone works beautifully, especially with a Panasonic headset; I sound loud & clear; the buttons work smoothly, it's really easy to use, & it has more functions than I'll ever need; I've never even tried its speakerphone option; you don't need batteries to use the headset option

Customer Reviews:
Wonderful phone system, especially with a home office.......2007-12-18
We purchased this phone when my wife started working from home and required us to need two phone lines for our house. This expandable system has worked wonderfully, we now have 2 expansion units to go with this base unit, and have had no problems. The speaker phone works well - which my wife uses most of the day for work. We appreciate the voicemail notification light, just have to make sure and check our voicemail to make the light stop blinking at night. The buttons have a nice layout and just have nothing really negative to say about this system. Got the job done nicely for us.
Clear.......2007-11-11
These phones are great. Super easy to set up and work really well in my big apt.
The light up display and MUTE functions are nice so I can see the phone ringing without having to hear it ring.
I can also see if someone is using the other line.
So far so good!
Excellent 2 line cordless speaker phone.......2007-10-26
I don't usually take the time to write a review about a product, but I felt compelled to share my positive experience with this phone.
I work at home and have a business need for a 2 line phone that is cordless and includes a decent speaker phone. I searched for several days before finding the Uniden TRU8866.
I noticed that some people had problems with their phones. I did not encounter any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. Some people complained that there is no answerig machine. I did not expect this feature since there is no mention of an answering machine in the product details or the product manual.
Listed below is my pro and con list after one week of heavy usage.
PROS:
Easy to setup
Easy to use
Many well thought out features
Very clear speaker phone
Great distance with the cordless handset
Excellent backlit screen
Call timer
Clear manual
Redial remembers last few numbers dialed
Does not interfere with my WiFi
Small footprint. Takes little desk space.
CONS:
None (Really)
Summary:
The Uniden TRU8866 is well built and designed. It offers two line capability, speaker phone, cordless handset, and many other useful features that will not interfere with your WiFi network. You will not be sorry with this phone. Just don't expect an answering machine. (LOL)
Good Job.......2007-10-04
Excellent product. Does what it claims to do with exceptional voice clarity for a cordless phone.
Observations Over the First Few Weeks.......2007-09-30
My prior cordless was a VTECH, that lasted for about 4 years, at which point the display became too hard to decipher. I purchased the Uniden for its sleek lines, many features, and brightly lit display.
The speaker phone is superb with excellent voice clarity. The phone illumitates brightly when an incoming call arrives. A mute feature allows one to stop the ringing while the call is coming in, if it is a call you wish not to answer. As a two line phone, you are able to designate which line will be operational when picked up from the handset. The belt clip is really sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break off.
I find the range of distance could use improvement. My old Vtech could get me down to my mailbox, about a 30 second walk away, but the Uniden will drop the call. Another thing I've noticed is that when a voice mail is left for me, the indicator light on the phone should be flashing, but isn't always. Still trying to figure that one out.
Oh yeah, when a call comes in on Caller ID from another area code, it doesn't appear with a 1, which is required where I live. If I want to save it in the phone book, the stored Caller ID number is useless, unless I go in and edit the entire number to include a 1. Its not intuitive, as I've tried a number of times but still haven't been able to add the 1.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the phone, and hope to work out these little bugs in the coming weeks.

EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS !!.......2007-11-15
THIS FULL FEATURE 2 LINE PHONE IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR MY SMALL BUSINESS APPLICATION. EASY TO SETUP AND USE, GREAT QUALITY AND
PERFORMS PERFECTLY
Great phone but cannot adjust mic volume on headset.......2007-10-19
I got this phone for its two line caller id and speakerphone capability with the added capability to use a headset for teleconferences. The caller id and speakerphone work great.
The basic problem I had was that the Panasonic headset I ordered at the same time had no mic volume adjustment and many of the people I called reported that my voice was soft. There appears to be no solution for the mic volume problem other than buying an amplifier that costs about the same as the phone!
excellent phones.......2007-10-17
I had purchased AT&T phones because that is what I had for last 5 years, but the new phones were made in China and were a nightmare. So I researched these and found good reviews. Bought them and absolutely love them!! Would recommend them even for home use.
Weeks of research and it didn't work at all........2007-10-06
I had to replace my old AT&T 962 and wanted to use a headset with the new phone. After researching for weeks I ordered the Panasonic KX-TS3282B.
As soon as I unboxed the parts I noticed the handset was very bulky and felt like I was holding a shoe against my face. After connecting the phone to power I was disappointed to see there was no image on the display and none of the lights such as speakerphone, line1, or line2 would light. It would ring but was obnoxious. I suspect a bad power supply, so I returned the unit.
Good, solid performer.......2007-09-23
I am happy with this phone - it has more features than I need and the voice quality is adequate.

Customer Reviews:
Updated but not in my top 5........2007-12-17
I have been searching for a new phone that does work email, can send/receive picture messages, send/receive short videos, can accept or reject meeting invites and updates my calendar over the air (aka everything the iPhone can't do). The BlackJack II is the second phone I am now using after getting rid of my iPhone (the first was an Blackberry 8310).
What does the BlackJack II do well?
It is thin. It looks good. It does email and calendar updates wonderfully (MS Exchange based). It does IM with AOL, MSN and MS Communicator flawlessly. The GPS feature is amazing with Google Maps (free add-on). It does IMAP email systems well (aka gmail) although some html formatted emails don't come through very well. Hardwired email and camera buttons nice. I like the dedicated silent button and cannot live without this since I have had it with the Treo and the iPhone.
What does it need help with?
The web browsing experience is slow even though the phone is 3G. I think this is due to the IE being a slow browser. The jog wheel has one speed (you can't tweak how fast it scrolls) and is very slow when scrolling. The battery life is about a 70% of a day if I only do voice and text messaging (aka no GPS directions, no heavy web browsing and Exchange Push feature is disabled or set to auto check email every 5 minutes instead). The text messaging is pretty sloppy cause it doesn't format the messages into a cohesive thread like the Treo 6xx/7xx and the iPhone does. You have to dig through menus to get to contacts for messaging. The camera picture quality is pretty bad relative to iphone and blackberry (slightly lower quality then Treo 680). The little door that covers the AC adapter port is flimsy and gets in the way when charging (feels like it will break within a few months of use). The LED cannot be turned off and blinks when ever a new email arrives from "any" email account configured on the device. I wish i could change the color of the LED (right now only pink) or at least tell it to only light up when i get a work email & not when personal email arrives. Better yet, allow me to have the LED light up and stay on when I miss a phone call or text message. It's of very little use but has potential. The keyboard is not as nice as the Treo but feels substantial and a bit refreshing after using the iPhone soft keys for 9 months.
There are other annoyances that are more related to Windows Mobile features but I'm trying to stick to the hardware only. One quirk I will mention that I can't live down is the fact that it takes the camera 5+ seconds to come up after pressing the dedicated camera button, which is super frustrating when trying to capture moments through the day. The iPhone and Treo both took pictures within 2 seconds or less. Seems most tasks that should be faster and easier just aren't in WM6.
So, there it is. If I can be of any further help, please let me know. I plan on switching back to the iPhone once it has full sync support for Exchange email and calendar features, but until then, it looks like the BJ II is the phone for now.
Sleak, stylish, and powerful.......2007-12-15
My only caveat to this review is that I'm a smartphone newbie. That said, I have a hard time finding anything I didn't like about this phone.
Starting with the looks, it's one of the few smartphones that I wouldn't feel embarrassed taking out of my pocket in a trendy restaurant or bar. That's another great thing, it actually fits in my pocket! I previously had a Samsung t509, one of the thinnest phones made, and the change hasn't been as bad as I suspected: it's not long enough to jam into my leg when I sit down, and not so wide that I can't put anything else in my pocket. Add to that the shiny black and metal frame, and your Blackberry toting friends will be hanging their heads in shame. It is amazingly smudge attracting, but I'm not overly worried about that. One good wipe-down a day takes care of the problem. I've heard some complaints about the scroll-wheel in the middle (it scrolls pages up and down), but to me it felt very much like the one on an iPod, which seems to work great for Apple. I've liked it so far, and it really helps you cruise through webpages quickly. The camera isn't awesome, there is a pronounced lag between clicking and having the image capture. However, I did notice that the "click" sound actually comes after the capture, so it's not as slow as the phone makes it seem. Still, it's something that could have been improved on.
Under the hood, this thing has been a dream too. It takes forever to start-up, which had me worried, but once it is switching between tasks is really easy. Setting up both my internet and work emails were a snap (under 3 minutes, combined) and messages get pushed through quickly. Page load times are pretty snappy (5 seconds for a new page, 2+ for a link) and downloads absolutely scream. Google Maps, about 500 KB, took less than 3 full seconds. Another handy feature that I've really enjoyed is the built in GPS. With the free download just mentioned you'll get maps and directions in pretty much no time. Locating the satellites takes a little bit, and they won't track well when you're at freeway speeds, but it works really well for directions and in-city driving.
The software hasn't been an issue for me yet, as I know a lot of people dislike Windows Mobile. It's fairly intuitive, but there are a lot of steps involved for tasks that don't have a shortcut on the home page (it displays the 6 most often used programs at the top). Syncing with my PC was a breeze after loading the included software, nothing got screwed up that I noticed.
In short, while it's not a mobile, do-everything PC replacement, it does pretty much everything you need away from the office (or home), and does pretty much all of them really well. Some miracle anti-fingerprint technology would be nice, as would a snappier camera, but other than that I think Samsung hit the nail on the head with this one.
Excellent Entry Level Smartphone.......2007-12-09
Its an excellent smartphone for what it does. If you want a good quality entry level smartphone then this is the one for you. The battery life is good- spending a day texting and making a few calls only made it lose one "bar" on the battery life meter. This is my first experience with Windows Mobile, and I have to say I love it. Its got a good interface, and as an added bonus you can play with the registry if you're so inclined. Doing so allowed me to get past the 300kb ringtone limit that was originally imposed on it.
Design wise, its a sharp looking phone, however you should be prepared to deal with fingerprints on the black one. I ended up buying a holster + "Screen Patronus" screen protector to keep it as clean as possible.
The camera does leave something to be desired. The images come out blurry at times and can look a little "faded". This is unfortunate as I assumed Samsung would have put a good camera in it.
The Keyboard is very nice and easy to type on. No complaints there.
All things considered, its a great entry level phone. I'm a college student, and it does everything that I'd ever want it to do. I can't say how well it would satisfy a business user, but the casual consumer will be delighted by this phone.

Customer Reviews:
Disappointment with reception on this corded phone.......2007-09-07
The audio on the receiver is really bad. The voice tone you hear is very harsh and it is difficult to hear the person speaking to you.Every adjustment I've tried doesn't help the problem. I often have to ask the person I'm talking to, to repeat what they said. It seems that the person I am speaking to has no problem hearing me on his end.
Talk about basics...What good is a phone that has poor reception? I don't know yet whether or not the problem can be corrected with a replacement handset. Also I was not made aware that this telephone needs to be near an electrical outlet in order to function. V.S.Simon, Houston,Texas
Panasonic KX-TSC14B 2-Line Speakerphone with Caller ID (Black).......2007-03-23
I bought this phone for the quality of it's speakerphone function. It has proven to be as reliable as I had hoped. My company uses this phone and my experience with it there led me to this purchase.
Nice product!.......2006-10-14
It is excellent! Well designed. Works perfectly and no any problem. I am happy with it.
So so........2005-11-25
I was looking for a coreded phone that I could plug my standard headset into. I went to Staples to see which phones had this capability, and the Panasonic KX-TSC14B did, and at a reasonable price. Please note that I did not require a 2-line phone; it seems that all phones with a headset jack (at least at Staples) were 2-line phones.
I purchased the phone and was disappointed. For some reason it made my headset sound very hollow. As the previous reviewer noted, there is no mute button -- I guess I should have realized that sooner. The other annoying "feature" was if I had the headset plugged in, the calls were always routed to the headset; even when I picked up the handset! I could not figure out how to change this behavior.
I returned the phone and started my search again. I found a company that makes great Home Office phones... Aastra. I HIGHLY recommend their phones... or at least the PT-470 which I wound up purchasing. They also make 2-line phones. Do a Google search for "Aastra".
What has happened to telephones recently?.......2004-01-19
So corded phones have now joined the ranks of junk "consumable" electronics along with hair driers and toaster ovens? In my search for a decent 2 line corded phone with caller ID, I purchased and with great disappointment returned 2 AT&T models (once the gold standard of all phones!)and finally, several months into the process, exhausted and desparate, settled on this Panasonic. Unlike the AT&Ts, all of the features work, but there is no mute, no reserve power supply (for shame!)and the LED screen is impossible to read from any angle except from directly above. I do not recommend this or any other two line phone. The situation is pathetic!

If purchased from your phone, you'll receive two copies of the song: a Windows Media Audio Pro Plus format at 64Kbps stereo is sent to your phone, and a Windows Media Audio 9 format at 160Kbps stereo is sent to your account in the V CAST Music online store for downloading to your PC. V Cast Music offers nearly 2 million songs, with more being added all the time.
With the V Cast Video service, you can stream or download video clips to your phone from a variety of news, entertainment, sports, and weather channels, including CNN, ABC News, E!, CBS Sports, The Weather Channel, and VH1.
Getting on the Internet is easy using Verizon's Mobile Web 2.0 package, which allows you to read and send e-mails, exchange instant messages and view your favorite web content on your phone. Verizon's Get It Now wireless download service is also fully compatible with this phone. This pay-per-download service features application downloads, games and productivity tools. You can also personalize your handset with ringtone downloads using the Get It Now service.
With this GPS-enabled phone, you'll be able to access Verizon's VZ Navigator service (additional charges applicable) for voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, heads-up alerts, local search of nearly 14 million points of interest in the US (such as landmarks, restaurants and ATMs), and detailed color maps. And Verizon's Chaperone service lets you easily locate your loved ones from your Verizon Wireless phone or PC in real time. After defining a zone, such as an area designating a school or summer camp, you'll be sent an alert via text message when the Chaperone handset enters or leaves the zone.
Phone Features
The Z6tv retains the same slider design as its Z3/Z6 predecessors--a sleek profile and a unique, spring assisted opening design. A large 2-inch color display with a 240 x 320-pixel resolution and 65K colors dominates the top of the slider. The 2-megapixel camera lens is discreetly housed on the upper backside of the phone, safely tucked away until ready for use. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. For video playback, it features a dedicated TV key, an easy to use Program Guide and the ability to watch in portrait or landscape mode.
The RIZR Z6tv allows you to control your music player with the slider opened or closed. Skip to tracks or fast forward and rewind with one touch of the 4-way external navigation key, while the Music Keypad Lock Key prevents accidental button presses. Create a playlist for whatever mood you are in, and sort content by artists, albums, songs, genres using quick search functionality. The digital audio player supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WMA formats.
This phone provides Bluetooth version 1.1 wireless connectivity, and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.
The 2-megapixel camera provides resolution up to 1600 x 1200 pixels, and you can choose from three other resolution choices (1.3 MP, VGA, and QVGA) as well as three quality settings within each resolution. Other features include an 8x zoom, multi-shot capability, six color effects, and adjustable exposure setting. For video capture, the Z6tv records clips in MPEG4 format in two resolutions--176 x 144 (QCIF) and 128 x 96 pixels--with editing options similar to the still camera. You can shoot video as long as your memory card has available space, and videos shot for MMS messaging are capped at 6 seconds.
A messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse, support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported, and the phone ships with a built-in email client. The RIZR also comes stock with a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for entering text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users.
The RIZR Z6tv's internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contact entries with seven phone numbers per entry, while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. The RIZR's voice dialing feature makes calling family, friends, and business associates as easy as saying their names. Other features include:
- MicroSD expansion up to 4 GB
- PIM tools: Calculator, calendar, alarm clock, world clock, notepad
- Speakerphone
- Vibrating alerts and silent mode
- Hearing aid compatibility = M3
- Bilingual interface: English/Spanish

Utterly ridiculous file transfer options.......2007-12-24
I have spent HOURS trying to transfer song files from my PC to my phone. The instructions for doing so that are included in the manual do not work (after upgrading Media Player to version 11). I finally broke down and got the Motorola Phone Tools software, only to find that the version I got does not include the MultiMedia Studio. I STILL can't transfer files from my PC to my phone using a USB cable.
It seems pretty clear to me either Verizon or Motorola are trying to wear down the patience of anyone not as stubborn as I am so they will just pay the $5/per or monthly subscriptions to buy content. I don't use Bluetooth, I don't particularly want to pay extra for Bluetooth equipment, but that seems my only option at this point in time.
So, if you want to make your own ringtones, add songs from your own CDs, or avoid paying extra fees to Vcast, this is NOT the phone for you unless you have bluetooth for your pc.
Great phone with impressive call quality and features. .......2007-11-16
This is the first time I've reviewed a phone but I think this is the best phone available on Verizon right now. I was using the Razr V3M and while it worked great as a phone I was getting tired with it's lack of features and it's horrible UI. I decided that I was going to go with the Razr2 V9m but had to return it. It was just too big and had a funky hinge. Since I was relatively happy with my Razr and not all that happy with my wifes VX8300's call quality I decided to stay with Moto and get the Z6TV.
What a great phone. It has a camera that takes pretty descent pictures and is a definite improvement over the Razr's camera. The music player also was improved with deeper more rich sounds and deeper base than the Razr or VX8300. I am also impressed with the battery life. I can get about 5 1/2 hours of talk time on a single charge and about 4-5 days of moderate use before it's down to 1 bar of battery. The call quality is stellar with great in-ear feedback so I don't yell into the phone and crystal clear voice sounds. I actually prefer it over a land line.
Since I was a long time flip phone user, I was a little leary about getting the phone because I have large hands. But, everything is laid out well on the keyboard and I've had absolutely no trouble using the keypad to dial, surf the mobile web, or text. The TV feature is kinda pointless for me because I don't have coverage where I live but the phone has other features I'm happy with so no big deal.
If you are looking for a new phone with great features and even more impressive call quality you can't go wrong with the Motorola Z6TV.
My shopping experience for a new mobile 10/24/07.......2007-10-28
I traded up from a Motorola Razr which I liked for two years using an extended battery and in a fitted case. I liked the Razr because it had excellent call quality, reception, battery life, nice size and fairly well made. So when the time came to trade up, I first went with the Moto RAZR2 V9m a few weeks ago. Being a flip phone, I expected to like it. The call quality was excellent, reception was so-so, build quality was good but the battery wouldn't last for me. I bought an extended battery and even with that I wasn't happy. The other major problem I personally had with it was it was so BIG. The casing scratches SO easily it needs to be in a case. And when you put it in a case, it becomes HUGE. To big for me anyway. So... true size, battery life and so-so reception caused me to return it.
That brought me back to the Verizon store. I made test calls to my home voice mail from about 8 phone models I was interested in. A cell phone needs to have good call quality above all. And I also like phones that cancel out ambient noise so people don't know if you're in a restaurant, a car or at your office. I also do a lot of texting and check email a lot.
Impressions while shopping for my new phone on 10/24/07 were:
- The Samsung phones seem a bit muted but acceptable. Nice features. u740 is nice but I prefer one handed texting as I multitask. The u620 is great in the text messaging department as you can speak your message and it converts it into text! And it's small. Did NOT like the Gleam in sound quality.
- The LG VX8700 is an excellent phone! Excellent call quality, maybe the best. They make an extended battery for it too. Also, it has a better interface so it is more fun to use.
- The LG 9400 just had unacceptable call quality. enV is cool but not happy with call quality. Fun to use phone...will be replaced by newer model next month. Not small.
- The Juke is cool if you like a small phone with nice music features. Good call quality.
- The Chocolate sliders just missed the sound quality mark for me.
- I felt that the KRZRs were a bit `last year'. Nice size, good sound.
So, I tried a MotoRIZR Z6tv.
I liked lots of things about it. Decent call quality, small, well made, all the features of the current line up of Verizon phones like Navigator, Chaperone, Bluetooth, etc. Strong signal, excellent speakerphone when you need it, good battery life, uses all my old car and home chargers, nice key pad, easy to use, fits in the hand well. BTW, this phone will also give you Mobile TV, if available in your area, and it'll cost you $$.
Dislikes?: Well I have only had this for 4 days. The screen could be bigger but that would take more battery so I'm happy there. The call quality is not as good as the LG8700 or the MotoRazr2 V9m but it is good!
Bottom line:
The phone is easy to use, feature packed, has all the features I need, nice battery life, camera and video clips are acceptable, good address book, etc. It just plain works well. Seems to be a keeper!

Motorola's QWERTY keyboard equipped Q, formerly known as the RAZRberry in the rumor mills, might not exactly be the "BlackBerry killer" that many predicted, but it is certainly one of the most capable and user friendly smartphones available on the market today.
Based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone platform, the Q picks up the best features from Microsoft's Smartphone edition of Windows Mobile while still offering a lot of PDA-like capability and screen real estate on its 65k color, 320x240 pixel display.
In terms of hardware features, the Q's right side 3-way scroll wheel and dedicated back buttons take center stage. These give the Q user fast BlackBerry-like scrolling with the ability to select an item or return to the prior screen--all with the user's thumb. Of course you can still do these same things the traditional way by using the 5-way direction pad and the back button that sits to its right. There's also a dedicated home key as well as the red and green call control keys.
The Q's QWERTY keyboard is a bit stiff, but otherwise designed well. The dark keys serve double duty as the numeric keypad when the Option key (found left of the Z key) is used. The Option key can be locked on, as can the shift key on the opposite side of the keyboard. Along the bottom of the keyboard you'll find dedicated buttons for email, the 1.3-megapixel camera, and a dual-use key for the speaker-independent voice dialing system and speakerphone.
When it comes to hot features, though, the Q's EV-DO 3G data capability tops the list. When used in an EV-DO coverage area, the Q user can expect to get wireless data rates that approach those enjoyed by home DSL users. When there is no EV-DO coverage available, the Q will fall back to the slower 1xRTT data network (roughly comparable to a 56Kbps modem). The Q can also connect to a desktop PC with a USB or Bluetooth connection. Bluetooth can also be used with mono and stereo headsets, as well as other devices like keyboards.
Get intimate with the Q's keyboard (silver version shown). |
While WiFi wireless access would have been a welcomed feature, it would have only led to even more strain on the already overtaxed battery. The standard capacity battery is capable of a respectable 5.5 hours of continuous talk time, but realistically will only provide a day of solid use, especially if the Q user takes advantage of the BlackBerry-like push email support. The push system can keep your Q lock step in sync with your corporate or home email inbox without any user intervention required. On top of email synchronization, it can also be used to synchronize the Q's contacts, calendar entries, tasks and other items with your home or office copy of Microsoft Outlook. It is somewhat eerie how you can enter a new contact or appointment on the Q and have it show up moments later in Outlook--or the other way around.
One of the great things about owning a smartphone is the ability to add 3rd party developed applications to the device. Since Windows Mobile 5.0 is quite popular, there are plenty such applications available both freely and for purchase. The Q has about 50MB of RAM for running applications, and a similar amount for storing data and the applications themselves. If you need more storage space, you can easily add a gigabyte or two by inserting a miniSD memory card into the Q's slot, located on the left edge of the device.
The Motorola Q packs a lot of capability into a device that is only a half inch thick and weighs 4.3 ounces--considerably less than the competition. It comes highly recommended.
Pros:
- One-handed use
- Thin and light
- EV-DO data
Cons:
- Short standby battery life
- Stiff keyboard keys

Q GOOOOOOOD.......2007-12-27
I've had my Q for about 2 months now.
Positives:
I love its user interface and sleek design. Mine has been very stable. I've had a couple PDAs and of course cell phones so what was especially sweet was when I first got it sync'd up with Outlook and ALL my contacts with their phone numbers were immediately available for quick dialing. Welcome to the 'smartphone' world. AWESOME. :-)
I regularly text message as well as manage 3 different emailboxes including one that syncs with a hosted Exchange Server (service provided by AppRiver). This is great because when I am on my laptop and I create a calendar appointment, it automatically is enterred in my phone's calendar (no wires required). Likewise, when I respond to an email from my phone, it is in my sent folder when I get on my laptop.
I just starting using motorolla's Blue Tooth T700. Pretty good hands free voice recongizion for dialing.
Negatives:
1. Battery life. When they gave me an extra free one I figured this might be an issue. I have it on all day, checking 3 mailboxes every 15 minutes and I get a little more than 1 day per battery. So I pretty much keep on battery in the charger and swap them out when I need to. This is less of a problem if I let it charge up in the car on the way to work or at my desk. That's the price to pay for such a large screen, blue tooth, and the cell service. I am sure an aftermarket batter would hold it's charge longer. Plus I think there are some powersaving settings you can config that will help this. I just haven't taken the time to investigate that piece.
2. This next item is very nit-picky but hey, maybe someone from Motorola will read this... The "," and "." and "'" buttons throw me. It is more intuitive for me to have a comma and a period share the same button than a period and apostrophe. 2 months and still get it wrong more than I would like to admit. So hey Motorola, next time please swap the "'" and the "," so the comma is on the same button as the period.
Overall, it's been a great phone. Thin, light, sturdy, and dependable. No freeze ups. I've even dropped it a few times.
