Useless.......2007-12-26
I tried to use this at my gym to pick up the fm stations that were tied into their tv system. It picked up the stations, but there was constant static. When will I learn that none of these portable transmitters/receivers will ever work with clarity!
Meh.......2007-12-25
This product is just OK. The buttons do not really work that well and the reception is not all that great. But, what do you really want it to do for only 10 bucks?!?!?!
ipod transmitter.......2007-12-25
Am/FM transmitter--Easy to program and use. Better to use than the cord, which can pull out of the cigarette charger, but some of the channels are heavy in static and can be very fuzzy, For the convenience great, for the clarity, not so good.
not all that .......2007-12-22
it too big and it doesnt fit well in my ipod, it falls out alot.
Kensington Performance.......2007-12-12
I purchased this little device to see how well the iPod would perform when broadcast into a radio. In all honestly, I bought the Kensington just for a cheap experiment. I travel in remote ski areas and radio (except for the paid XM, etc.) is out of the question. I brought a second car from Chicago to Colorado for the season and used this little device instead of my normal XM... Wow - I was pleasantly surprised.
I have no complaint at all. It did exactly what I wanted - no frils, played all the way from and to. Had to change the station twice in 1100 miles. It has proven to be a great buy and I have no intention of replacing it with a more expensive unit. Guess I feel that if it works this well - why fix it with one that may not! I did not have to stand on my head, place it on the roof or any thing bizzare. I plugged it into the iPOd, selected a station, laid it on the center console and listened to MY music the entire trip.
DEfinitely buy one - it has been just fine understanding I expected very little and got something that works. It has been more than adequate.

NASCAR, 100 Channel, 10 Banks Compact Scanner, Race Track Operation, Easily Programs & Selects The Race & Drivers You Want To Listen To, Pre-Programmed Service Searches, Public Safety, Air Marine, CB News Media, FRS, GMRS, Railroad, Ham, Specials & Much More, Weather Scan, Close Call RF Capture Technology, Instantly Tunes To Nearby Signals, Covers Bands 25-54, 108-174, 406-512 MHz.
Amazon.com Product Description
Versatile, compact, and easy to use, the Uniden BC72XLT handheld scanner offers a simple way to monitor the "action" bands, including police and fire channels (including rescue and paramedics), NOAA weather transmissions, business and industrial radio broadcasts, utilities, marine and amateur (ham radio) bands, air bands, and more. In short, the scanner keeps interested parties in the information loop. Of course, scanning the 32,000 available frequencies can be time-consuming and frustrating, which is why Uniden added such functions as Close Call capture technology, which instantly tunes to signals from nearby transmitters to help you detect and identify local signals, and a comprehensive memory that holds up to 100 programmed channels (10 per bank).
The scanner also offers six preset service banks, with preset frequencies for police, fire/emergency, aircraft, ham, marine, and weather, making it easy to locate specific types of calls. And should you want to regularly monitor a few specific channels, you can designate them as "priority" channels. The BC72XLT will then check those channels every two seconds while it scans each bank, so you never miss an important transmission. Other scanning functions include 10 programmable search ranges for finding unlisted frequencies in your area and a two-second scan delay that lets you hear any replies to the original transmission before moving on.
A scanner is fairly useless if you can't decipher the transmission, which is why the BC72XLT is outfitted with triple-conversion circuitry. The technology virtually eliminates any interference from IF images and clarifies the selected frequency, so you needn't strain to pick up certain words or phrases. And thanks to the key lock, you won't accidentally change the programming while carrying the scanner in your pocket. Add in a memory backup that preserves stored frequencies even if the scanner loses power and an easy-to-read, backlit display and you're ready for virtually any scanning situation.
The scanner comes with a flexible antenna with a BNC connector, ensuring adequate reception in strong signal areas (a separately sold external antenna will further improve reception), along with an AC adapter. As an alternative, you can power the scanner using two AA alkaline or rechargeable batteries (the latter can even be recharged while in the scanner). The unit measures 2.75 by 4.5 by 1.25 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty.
What's in the Box
Scanner, AC adapter, flexible antenna, belt clip, frequency guide, user's manual.

Great little scanner.......2008-01-01
Picked this up for my parents, since my dad is a firefighter and wanted to hear what's going on in the next county over, and my mom can hear what's going on while he is out on a call.
Few things:
-Took a bit to get familiar with how to program it, but I got the hang of it before too long. Not very user friendly to set up, but the manual is decent and explains things pretty well.
-Reception is great with the included antenna. Our area is quite hilly and I can get broadcasts from at least 10 miles away. Broadcasts from a few miles out/local county are crystal clear.
-A quick google search found a website with all the local frequencies. Do some investigating before you buy this, many areas are going to trunked radio systems which require a better model then this one. Since our area is pretty rural I had no problem finding and receiving local police/fire/EMS.
-The price went up $30, so the 92 model is now cheaper. Only difference is that this one cannot do the 800mhz band. Seems like most current systems don't operate in the 800 band anyway.
The unit is very easy to use once programmed, I put all the police on one "bank", all the EMS on another, all the fire/EMS for our county only on another one, etc. Very easy to turn on/off banks and hold on certain channels/frequencies. Rechargable Ni-MH AA batteries work great with this unit and charge while it is plugged in(no using a seperate battery charger!)
Bottom line: Very impressed with unit's performance for the price. Would definetly recommend if your local police/fire/EMS use standard, older, non-trunked frequencies.
second purchase of same model.......2007-11-04
Ordered this scanner in 06,friend liked it so ordered one for them.Easy to use and picks up all channels that I want.Would highly recommend this scanner for everyday listening, its nice to hear whats going on out there on the street.
portable scanner.......2007-10-31
Reception is average, but it does work fine for the purpose I bought it for.
Handheld Scanner.......2007-10-17
I'm happy with this product. It picks up all the channels I want. I go through batteries fast, but it's worth it!
overall disappointed.......2007-09-24
Instructions where confusing. The trouble shooting page is worthless. I ended with finding a link to all my local Department with Itunes.
Product Description
Midland is a world leader in wireless two-way and weather/hazard alert radios, with an extensive line of land mobile radios, CB, GMRS and FRS radios, new (license-free) MURS radios, weather-monitor alert radios, itinerant radios and a line of quality antennas and accessories.
Amazon.com Review
Having a CB radio while traveling can be an invaluable tool for emergencies and for keeping up on road conditions, and the Midland 75-820 40-channel handheld CB is one you should definitely consider. It comes with everything you need to get started in a hurry, including a battery pack for times you want to run the unit on six AA batteries and a cigarette lighter adapter for battery-free operation in your car.
The Midland 75-820's design is ideal, with a push-to-talk button on the side, squelch and volume knobs, and a small LCD screen that displays the current channel, signal strength, and a variety of other useful information. Several buttons on the device can be used for scanning, whether quickly flipping between the emergency channel (9) and the standard highway channel (19) or activating the LCD's backlight. The unit also comes with a short, flexible antenna.
Overall, the 75-820's portability is excellent--comparable to a child's walkie-talkie. Unfortunately, the unit's compactness hampers its usefulness, because the relatively small antenna has a hard time pulling in distant signals. In our tests on local highways and on the interstate, transmissions rarely could be heard from more than half a mile away. However, when we connected the Midland 75-822 to a whip antenna that was several feet long, the range increased considerably. As a result, we recommend investing in a better antenna before using the device in your car, although the radio still works well for communicating with nearby semis when you're trying to find out the source of a traffic jam.
We had better luck using the radio to monitor National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio broadcasts, which we were able to receive from nearly anywhere since Weather Radio stations transmit at much higher power than mobile transmitters. These broadcasts are repeated every few minutes, are updated every few hours, and can help alert travelers to severe weather conditions. It's a nice feature to have on a portable CB and makes the Midland 75-822 a standout choice for travelers who want to be in the know. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Truly portable
- Car adapter kit included
- Ability to monitor Weather Radio is a nice touch
Cons:
- Short antenna dramatically cuts down on range

Midland Handheld.......2007-12-09
I Ordered the Midland Handheld CB radio and received it 24 hrs later. As others have said, its a nice handheld CB but is useless without an external antenna. I've driven around with it in Philadelphia for 3 days and have only heard people speaking 2 times. The range has to be close to 1-200 feet with the attached ducky antenna. I will receive a Wilson Lil Wil external antenna in 2 days and will be able to comment further on its use with an external antenna. One comment however that noone else has mentioned. In order to use an external antenna, you have to use the D/c adapter that comes with the radio. You cannot connect an external antenna and use the radio on either of the 2 supplied battery packs. The mobile adapter that connects to the radio has the connection for an external antenna attached. Therefore, no mobile adapter (dc connector), no place to connect an external antenna. My reason for purchasing this unit was because I was already running so many things off of dc in my car (radar detector, GPS charger, digital scanner etc.) For the price, this radio operates the same as other radios that run off d/c that cost 1/2 the price. I ordered a Uniden pro520xl that I plan on installing in my other car. If all works out, I may scrap the midland 75-822 and just get another uniden since they both require d/c connections thereby making them mobile and not portable.
compact cb radio, needs better reception.......2007-11-10
Very poor reception with the factory antenna, I tried it with another antenna mount to the roof, it was a little bit better. I like it because it's compact and out of the way, good quality radio.
Product died within 1st 1/2 hour........2007-10-16
Nice looking, nicely packaged. It worked for a grand total of 1/2 hour. Customer service people very nice and it is in being repaired. I will follow up as soon as it comes back.
nice radio.......2007-09-20
I used this radio on 2000 mile 4 day trip on my harley and worked good the whole time, keep in mind though it only has a 4 watt output so range is lacking compaired to the other bikes i was with.
Portable CB Radio.......2007-09-04
This CB radio was purchased for the express purpose of a communications device to be used exclusively on a motorcycle for bike to bike communications and weather info. It is very small and works perfectly. I had to make a holder with bracket, but that only took about 20 minutes. I purchased a separate headset kit to fit the helmet, but after all that, I still only had a total of $165. in all for my complete setup. My other biker friends spent up to as much as $800. This little gem does everything theirs do and more.

Good choice.......2007-12-18
Bought this as a gift for my dad. The price was very good and Midland quality is excellent. Its a nice compact setup with all the basic options you should need. The only complaint is I wish it would be offered as a set with an antenna. Which I purchased seperately at Radio shack.
cb radio.......2007-12-08
this is a very good radio, espically for the money, installs almost anywhere, and the inline fuse that comes with it a nice add on. finding appropriate wiring for the antenna can be challanging if your local radio shack is umm...full of very "helpful" people... but its not hard... highly recomended
Great cheap cb radio!.......2007-11-19
This is the best cb radio for your value. This rivals the cheaper cb units in the 60-70 dollar range. The RF gain is not found on other units until you get to the $100 range. It is nice and compact and has pretty good volume output from the internal speaker. The only thing I don't like is the channel selector knob. The knob is not very fine tuned. Sometimes I hit it and it just starts going through all of hte channels like a scan but its not. But, you learn to deal with it and after awhile I know how it is and it works fine. Otherwise it is a great cb radio.
Remember though, the antenna and ground plane make most of the difference in range, the mic in clarity, and the radio is just a vessel. Plus a good swr tune does wonders as well.
SWCOP.......2007-10-20
The best cb ever had one long time ago be watching all you on the road!!
Good value.......2007-10-02
I use mine for clasics VW club road trips, is useful and the best value for a economic brand new cb.

Continuous band coverage from 25-956 MHz (excluding cellular) Preprogrammed service search with 100 channel/sec. maximum scan speed Search lockouts for unwantedfrequencies Backlit LCD Includes AC adapter, DC power cable and car outlet plug
Amazon.com Product Description
Get in on all the action with the Uniden BC350C, a powerful radio scanning and searching unit. In search mode, The BC350C can search 13 bands to find active frequencies. This differs from scanning in that the unit searches for frequencies that have not been programmed into the scanner's channels. The scanner automatically chooses between two speeds (Search and Turbo Search) while searching. During search mode the scanner will search 100 frequencies per second, while in Turbo Search Mode the scanner can achieve up to 300 frequencies per second in bands that have 5 kHz steps.
In scanning mode, The BC350C scans programmed channels at the rate of up to 100 channels per second until it locates an active frequency. When scanning stops on an active frequency, it remains on that channel as long as the transmission continues. When the transmission ends, the scanner stays on the channel for 2 more seconds, waiting for another transmission. If no response is detected, the scanning cycle resumes until another transmission is received.
The BC350C monitors these communication types:
- Police and fire departments (including rescue and paramedics)
- NOAA weather broadcasts (10 pre-programmed channels, 2 are Canadian Marine Weather Channels)
- Citizens Band (CB)
- Business/industrial radio
- Motion picture and press relay
- Utility
- Land transportation frequencies, such as trucking firms, buses, taxis, tow trucks, and railroads
- Marine and amateur (ham radio) bands
- Air band
- Many more in the 25-54 MHz, 108-174 MHz, 406-512, and 806-956 MHz ranges, excluding the cellular telephone band
The BC350C ships with a DC power connector and a cigarette lighter adapter, making it ready for permanent or temporary vehicle use.
What's in the Box
BC350C scanner, telescoping antenna, fixable mobile antenna, AC adapter, cigarette lighter adapter plug, DC power cord for hard wiring power from your car to your scanner, operating guide, registration form, frequency guide, warranty card, and other printed materials
Note
The installation, possession, or use of this scanning radio in a motor vehicle may be prohibited, regulated, or require a permit in certain states, cities, and/or local jurisdictions. Your local law enforcement officials should be able to provide you with information regarding the laws in your community.

Scanner review.......2007-10-17
We received this scanner earlier than expected. It arrived in complete working order. This is the easiest to set up and use of all I have checked out.
A scanner with good operation and size for the price.......2007-09-10
A good scanner with very good audio sound. The BC350C is a very good size for a table or desk.
It has limit search and every police, fire, air,cb band with plenty of freqency coverage. The Price is
also very good. the scanner doesn't have a keyboard to type in a frequency but, which is ok with
me. I like to scan, find, and store freguencies. If you want a keyboard and trunking another scanner
would be a better choice for you, but if you are a beginner , or just want a basic scanner for fun or
basic needs for a decent price this is a very good choice.
preformed as expected.......2007-08-26
I am pleasantly surprised with my 350 c scanner. In fact after I programmed it I ordered another. Just follow the directions.
GOOD SCANNER.......2007-08-24
Scanner is easy to operate and works very well. Delivered very fast from seller.
Uniden BC350C Polcie Scanner..?...Review.......2007-04-07
The majority of people out their who want to buy a scanner are those interested in what the police/Fire-Rescue are saying on their two way radio's. Police opperate on 800mhz and so an 800mhz scanner is necessary, so I bought one...
Well after buying the BC350C 800mhz scanner I read its owner manual and it states that the majority of police/Fire-Rescue etc. opperate an 800mhz Trunk system, and in order to properly tack the police etc. on 800mhz you need to buy a difrent scanner that is 800mhz Trunk capable...So basicly to fined this out it cost me over $100.00!!! Uniden BC350C 800 MHz Mobile Scanner
The package showed police/fire-rescue on it and the scanner itself has police and fire buttons indicating that it scanns 800mhz frequencies. The seller never indicated it was not trunk capable nor did the manufacturer Uniden untill later in their owners manual. Well it does scann 800mhz frequencies but it will not track the 800mhz Tunk system within 800mhz. "Trunk system basics: every time a officer transmits on a truck system he transmits and recieves on a diffrent frequency. in order to track what is being said a trunk system scanner is needed or you only hear a fragment of the conversation."
The scanner is easy to use but without trunk capabilities it might as well be a old scanner from the 80's. The scanner is very limited. I would not suggest buying one, don't wast your money. Buy a scanner that is trunk capable. Uniden Bearcat BCT8 BearTracker Warning System with 800 MHz TrunkTracker III

Customer Reviews:
Not too bad at all.........2007-09-06
It has good receive and limited range with the stock antenna. I bought the extension antenna for it and it does a little better. If you want to be heard farther than 1/2 mile you should go with a mag mount type antenna for your car. To be clear, I'm happy with this radio and i expected the range that it gets..
I do have 1 NEGATIVE thing to say about this radio. The weather is hard to pull in on it. When my other weather radios are getting the weather channel clearly, this one just got static. It does get the weather if you're close enough to the tower but, a real weather radio does much better.
Very Pleased.......2007-07-31
I use this when I travel up north on I95. I hooked it up with a portable outside antenna and it worked great. I would suggest this setup for anyone that uses it traveling. You would need to buy an adaptor piece (Cobra HA-BNC BNC to Standard Connector for Hand-Held CB Antennas) that fits the antenna to the top of the scanner. I use the Little Wil antenna with this and it works terrific.
Decent for occasional road trip use.......2007-07-13
I used this radio for a 4,000 mile road trip out west this past spring. The radio worked very well when I took the time to learn all the features (and to efficiently use them). If you use the car adapter to plug into your car's cigarette lighter it will give you some annoying humming that can drive you crazy if you let it. I would highly recommend using this along with a car top antenna. The range is decent and is very helpful on interstate travel. The weather radio really helped prepare me for a springtime snowstorm when driving through Wyoming.
Suits my current needs.......2007-07-04
I was looking for a cb I could use on car club road trips to communicate with others in the group. I wanted a hand held because I didn't want to have anything installed on a permanent basis. That said I used it without an antenna on a trip to Northern California with 7 other cars. In order to hear instructions from the lead car I had to be in the second or third slot. I could hear the conversations from cars in the rear but they could not hear me. It suits my needs as long as I'm in second slot which is where I prefer to be anyway. A cross country road trip is being planned for 2009 with many more cars. I will either upgrade by then or have an antenna installed.
Cobra Handheld.......2007-06-17
I am finding this CB to be quite adequate for limited range which I require. The weather channels are quite handy and the scanner is an added plus.
Product Description
Whatever your outdoor activity, Cobra's compact handheld CB radios are a great way to stay in touch with friends. Complete access to 10 National Weather Channels (7 NOAA and 3 International) for the latest weather information. And there are no license or service fees! Cobra's HH ROADTRIP incorporates SoundTracker, a patent-pending technology that dramatically improves the sound quality of the transmission and reception of CB radio signals.
Amazon.com Product Description
Cobra's aptly named HH Road Trip 40-channel handheld CB radio is ready to travel anywhere you do, bringing access to 10 NOAA weather channels and a four-mile range from its 4 watts of power. The onboard SoundTracker system reduces audible noise and interference by up to 90 percent over non-SoundTracker devices. Whether you're using it for emergency backup or convenient conversation between vehicles or camps, the HH Road Trip brings you quality CB communication.
High/low power switch reduces power consumption, extending battery life during spells when high power is not required. The unit operates on nine AA batteries (alkaline or Ni-Cd; batteries not included), or runs off your vehicle battery through the supplied DC cord with cigarette-lighter plug. An included magnet-mount antenna ensures maximum range.
The Citizens Band lies between the shortwave broadcast and 10-meter Amateur radio bands and was established by law in 1949. The Class D two-way communications service was opened in 1959. FCC regulations permit only "transmissions" (one party to another) rather than "broadcasts" (to a wide audience); advertising is not allowed on CB Channels because it is considered "broadcasting." Citizens Band (CB) Radio operators are not required to obtain an FCC license to operate their CB equipment or provide station identification. Nevertheless, an operator of a CB radio station is still required to comply with the communications act and with the rules of CB Radio Operation.

Thanks.......2007-12-30
Thank you very much for this item. It served great as the holiday gift this year. Everything was in working order and my brother-in-law loved it. I hope to purchase from you again!
garbage, unless you just want to monitor other cber's convos.......2007-08-30
I can't believe people are giving this thing a good review. They are either technical geniuses, and have modified the unit, or are Cobra employees.
I bought three of these, used the magnet external antenna, and all three produced a 3/10 of mile line of sight transmission range. Motorola "talk-about" radios work better than this, and with no external mount.
The only thing this is good for is monitoring truckers while driving.
The 'sound tracker' is a joke... just a fancy equalization adjustment.
Looking into a permanent under dash unit instead.
Waste of $$.......2007-08-12
I thought this would be fun for my daughters on our freeway road trips. We couldn't even get one reception with trucks passing us in the next lane. Total waste of $$.
Cobra HH Hand Held Cb is a HORRIBLE WASTE OF $ !!!.......2007-08-07
If you want it for weather, great; but if you want it for transmitting for CB purposes, don't bother. i bought 2 and what a waste! They can only transmit well up to 600 feet, and tops out at 1/2 mile. If you live in town, that may not matter to you, but if you're in the country at all, it won't make it. Find a longer range unit cause this one is NOT it! i used a car model in my home with a antena on our TV tower that worked great for years. But this i repeat is a waste of $ for a CB! Sorry, but i must speak the truth, wish i could get a refund!
PapaBear's review.......2007-07-13
when i recieved this item i was really impressed with the construction. it was not some cheap plastic pice of junk with crappy signal and even crappier transmistion. with the normal antenna i am able to keep in contact with my friends on the road for about 1/4 to 1/2 of a mile (easy), with the added roof antenna we have been able to talk to each other at about a mile apart (have not had a chance to test it further yet) without any signal loss. the extra features of the CB are nice and it is heavy enough to know that it is made to last but not too heavy to put on your belt all day long. also the power adaptor makes it great to conserve battery life on long drives. if you have a car and have difficulty mounting a normal radio or just want a portable version, this is it!!

Nice and Compact CB That Works Well.......2007-12-30
Being a member of a local Miata club, it is very common for our club runs to use CB's as the form of communication. Being in a Miata also means there is not a lot of spare room for such things. After talking to other members and reviews online, I felt this would do everything I needed and then some. The biggest asset is not having a large "box" that would need to be mountet and left in the car. The second biggest reason I also chose this unit was I needed a CB for our Cherokee 4x4. By being able to buy a second "connection" box for ~$25, I can use the main unit in two vehicles without the full expense of two CB's.
Hookup is easy with a power, ground and antanna connections. The plug for the main unit to the connection box can be run from undernieth the dash or console or mounted in a hole with the supplied mounting plate and grommet. I used a "blank out" panel (unused switch location) in the dash so if I ever remove it, I can just replace this panel with no ill effects. I drilled a hole in the panel, the same size as the mounting plate and used the supplied grommet in this panel, not using the mounting plate. It is a very clean installation and when the handheld unit is removed, you never know there was a CB in the vehicle.
The BIGGEST thing to remember for ANY CB is proper antanna tuning and a quality antanna. Without this, it doesn't matter how good the CB is. How important is tuning? I tuned my antanna for the best SWR readings I could get, which were very good and in our last club run, I was the only person who could talk and receive from everyone in the group.
I am very happy with this product and am looking forward to getting it setup in our Cherokee as well.
Works great, but . . . .......2007-12-29
Overall I am pleased with the performance of this radio once I got it tuned properly. However, my one complaint is that the controls are somewhat difficult to adjust, particularly volume and squelch.
Pretty, Pretty Slick.......2007-11-27
I wouldn't have a CB in my Jeep if it weren't a prerequisite for most organized off-road trail events; the fun and funkiness of these devices having been lost on me many years ago thanks to the content and language of most Interstate jabber. So my quest was narrowed to inconspicuous units that could easily be stored away from view 99 percent of the time I drive, with quality of transmission and reception a distant second priority.
Much to my delight, I've found that this Cobra unit is a highly capable CB for both trail and highway, and because of its size, I tend to leave it connected and mounted (industrial strength Velcro is all it takes) so that I can use it anytime I feel like doing so. I have no trouble understanding what's being said at any volume level, and have received broadcasts from at least four miles away, matched to a garden variety Firestik antenna. I can find no utility whatever in the Sound Tracker circuitry, but on the whole this is a good value and it works fine -- more than I need for my purposes.

Did not want a "big box' cluttering things up so opted for the hand held. Works just like the big ones but the small speaker is a bit tinny with volume so needs to be close. Got a small external speaker and am happy with the sound. Range seems to be pretty good with a 12 inch rubber whip so would be way good w/regular antenna. Overall I am satisfied and would purchase again

I am a person that has had over the years many mobile cbs, but this one is the best. Its size is great and all the fuctions are in one easy to find place. I love tis product. Intalation is extremely easy, and operation even easier. Over all i recomend it 100% The best on the market
