The sound quality is great for it's size.
things i think you should know:
1.) even though the speakers are separatly connected you can use them with the ipod alone it has to be connected to the set (no big deal really)
2.) the remote isn't as technologically advanced as you may want once again it's no big deal most ipod remotes only offer the basics play, pause, stop, next, previous etc.
3.) i keep my ipod in a case. the kind that encases the ipod but all usable parts are functional. the problem is that the part that charges the ipod is just big enough to reach the ipod without the case, so you have to charge it with the case for those of you who like to keep your ipod cased up.
it's made for ipod classic (the bulky white one) but it still works with all newer ipods. (well now it's just out dated ipod because ipod video is the new classic)

I bought this after reading the mostly good reviews and have decided that I must have gotten a lemon. This system had HORRIBLE sound! If I had bought the CTA speakers that were under $10 I would have expected them to sound scratchy and tinny. This system is not worth the $$$.

The only reason this didn't get five stars is that the wires that connect the base to the speakers aren't very long (two feet each, at most) and they can't be set very far apart. Other than the fact that I was hoping to put them on opposite sides of my mid-size kitchen, and I can't, this thing is great.
The only other drawback is that you can't navigate the iPod menus from the remote. If you want to change playlists or artists, then you have to do it fromt he iPod itself. But it's really a great little player. Despite the speaker location, it fills the room with sound and doesn't sound the least bit tinny to me.

I ordered these because I needed something small for my dorm room. They just came today, and they are the perfect size, just what I needed. Plus they look great too. So far they sound great. We'll see how they sound after I've had them for awhile and whether they stand up.

The Grand Scale home stereo system is CTA's top of the line speaker system for the iPod. It features two satellite speakers each pumping two 2-inch high fidelity speakers and a dome tweeter that are enclosed in a sound chamber designed to maximize sound output. The heart of the sound is produced by an 8-inch high powered subwoofer which has a maximum output of 150 watts. Everything is controlled by the center console either by its manual controls or by the full function remote. The remote can play, pause, stop, forward, reverse, skip, change play modes as well as adjust the volume, treble, bass and mids. The stand has a cable management system to prevent lose wires and provide an attractive appearance to compliment any room setting. The base can be utilized by either placing it on the stand or on a shelf for optimal flexibility. The Grand Scale will work with any iPod with a dock connector including the new iPod with Video and nano.

I took a leap of faith with this product even though some of the reviews I read were not good. This product looks great! However, one of the channels did not work. It cost me $61 to ship it back and 2 weeks to get a refund.

I had no trouble installing the system in my house. We put in the Ipod and it work right off the bat.
So far we have nothing but good things to say about this system. We are very pleased with it's performance.

The product was faulty. The first stereo system made a "fuzzing" noise while the music played. The next two replacement systems made a faint "beeping" noise every half a second. While you couldn't hear the beeping noise if the music was loud enough, you could hear it through quieter songs and between songs. Amazon then suggested that I deal with CTA directly, who were the company that produced the stereo.
Due to my experience with CTA, I would not recommend buying any product made by CTA. Not only was the stereo system of inferior quality, but I wasted a lot of time attempting to deal with CTA, and in the end, they did not provide a satisfactory solution to the problem. CTA did not reply to my request for a mailing label to return their faulty docking station. (I was not requesting a refund from CTA as money had only been exchangd with Amazon. I merely wanted to return the extra docking station to them without incurring the shipping charges). This final display of apathy epitomizes their lack of professionalism, and is also indicative of the quality and value they place on their own products.
When I contacted Amazon again and informed them of my less than satisfactory dealings with CTA, they resolved the problem by agreeing to a full refund.
Great iPod Stereo System!.......2006-08-23
I was very pleasantly surprised by the sound on this system. It was MUCH better than I expected! I also love the remote control. I recently used this to provide music at a party held at a local VFW hall, and it was more than sufficient.
The only downside was the way the item was packed and shipped. The box was badly handled, and one of the speakers had some cosmetic damage as a result. Fortunately, it did not effect the unit's operation.
Also, one section of the instructions tells the user to insert the "marked" wire one place, and the "unmarked" wire elsewhere. There are no markings on either wire. However, one wire is bluish in color, and one is not. The bluish wire is the "marked" wire, and the clear wire is the "unmarked" wire.
