With a compact design and expandable functionality, the Uniden TRU9460 offers a range of high performance features. Call Waiting Caller ID includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows your most frequently dialed names and numbers moved into the permanent 10-station speed dial. Major disappointment.......2007-12-20
As a fan of Uniden products, I couldn't wait to get my new phone!! I plugged it in, charged it for 24 hours, set it up and made my first call. Then my second. And third... Each of my callees had the same response: They all expressed pain at the loudness of my voice, and all had to turn the volume down on their phones in an attempt to ease the pain. They said the sound was "tinny", "too much treble" and that there was fuzz at the end of each word, sometimes making it difficult to hear what I was saying. By the way, I never mentioned to them that I was calling on a new phone - I chatted for a while and they each quickly or eventually said, "Where are you calling from???" or, "ouch! Let me lower the volume!!", with annoyance and frustration. I bought this and the companion accessory handset. At first I thought maybe I had a faulty phone so I set up the second one and made my calls. Same response. I called everyone back on my original 900mhz Uniden phone and everyone's response, "That's much better, what'd you do?"
So, now what? I'd like to stick with Uniden and get a nice updated 5.8GHZ phone but this is definitely NOT the one for me (or anyone!!)
Short calls are your only option with this phone!.......2007-11-26
These phones are bad. I purchased two in March 2007 and have had nothing but problems since. They hang up on ANY phone call after 2-3 minutes. I have them on the chargers 24/7, and still they hang up. If I walk more than 5 feet away from the base unit, they also hang up with a message saying "Out of Range". What is the range on these things...4 feet?
I'm currently trying to find out where to send them back to Uniden for a refund.
Uniden phone system a winner.......2007-10-15
This phone system is a winner. It is easy to figure out with the Instruction Book. I personally like all the ring tones available. The expandable feature is what is really needed when you want multiple rooms connected without worrying about phone jacks. A big plus is the feature for accomodating listeners with hearing aids. The only reason I did not put five stars is that I could wish the phone were a little larger. This is an excellent system.
Excellent 2nd generation expandable cordless phone system.......2007-10-13
This is a reasonably full featured cordless phone, and its main advantage is that this relatively inexpensive base and phone can be expanded to handle up to 10 extensions in total (including the base). That's useful if you have a small or medium sized house or office and you'd like to be able to call between handsets, just like calling between wired phone extensions. There are similar but more expensive systems from AT&T and Panasonic. We bought the Uniden base and several handsets for a 2500 square foot home. There are handsets in the basement and on the first and second floors. The cordless signal carries well to all three levels. We bought it to replace a much older Siemens expandable cordless system whose reception is not nearly as good. The Uniden handsets have a couple of features that are particularly useful: You can name each handset -- "Living Room", for example, and then when you want to call an extension you see a list of all the names on your system. This is a lot better than seeing a list of extension numbers -- you don't have to remember that Extension 4 is the kitchen, etc. And you can enter frequently dialed numbers into the base handset and then export the whole list to each of the extension. If you're looking for an expandable cordless system, this one is reasonably priced, has a good range of features, and works well across multiple rooms and at least two floors of a house.
Good phone!.......2007-09-27
This was very easy to intigrate with the main phone. Programming phone numbers was also easy. I now have three of them.

Features, features, features.......2007-10-30
We had been shopping for a phone which has lighted numerals AND caller ID. Good luck with that! Uniden has these features and more in this phone. GREAT JOB! We have had this for a week now, so we are still learning how to navigate through everything this does. The fact that it floats doesn't mean beans to me. It would be a cool feature, if you need an aquatic telephone, I guess. The lighted numerals were important for us for use as a bedroom phone. Most cell phones light up in the dark, so why don't more regular phone manufacturers offer this feature?? Anyway, we are happy with our purchase!
Improved so much..........2007-10-07
Compared to the previous model, WXI377, which I've owed for over two years, this model fulfilled most of my wishes what the older model lacked...
For example, 5.8GHz digital spread spectrum is much more secure than the old 900MHz analog. Now the keyboard is also backlighted as well as the display. The onboard speaker is nice and comes in handy. You can expand the phone to have more handset(TWX977 will give you the very same handset) and have features like transferring a call, page, intercom and conferencing, etc. Phonebook has much larger capacity, and now you can store two numbers per name, and personalize the ring tone...
Some same old problems still exist. The old WXI377 when it was submerged in bathtub, the cavity around the earpiece speaker would be filled with water that blocked the sound. I had to shake it vigorously get the water out, otherwise the volume would so low it was hard to hear the other party. The new model is still the same way, and shaking the water out would take more effort, seems to me. The chain dialing still only works when in a call(when you are connected, you can bring up the phonebook and dial another number. Works well for dialing a phone card access number first, then the real phone number from your phonebook). If you start by keying in a few digits, like "#0P"(I have a 2-line switch, #0 will access my other line. P is for a 1-second pause), you can't get in the phonebook and bring up another number onto the screen to concatenate them together then dial all at once...
The one area it screwed up is the redial number. On the old phone when you display the number by pressing Redial, you can hit Delete button to delete the last digit by each press. So you can edit the number by getting rid of the extra digits last time you entered when on hold and "press 1 go to this menu" or "press 2 for voicemail", etc. The new model does not allow you to edit the redial number. Hit Delete will wipe out the the entire line. This is the only problem I can remember now, that doesn't exist on the old model before...
no problems so far.......2007-09-12
A decent phone for around the pool. Happy to have something that we don't have to worry if it gets wet. Very good sound and voice quality.
Pool Phone.......2007-09-12
This product is WONDERFUL! We've even dropped it into the swimming pool and it keeps on going & going. My husband & I are very pleased with our purchase.
POOL telephone.......2007-09-09
This telephone should be a REQUIREMENT for anyone who wants a wireless telephone that can ACTUALLY be used outside or anywhere that is wet. Worked excellently upon receipt and in all locations since getting it and being placed into service. Plus, it still works after I dropped it into the pool a couple of weeks ago. Also this telephone "FLOATS" in water.

Distance a problem.......2007-12-27
This phone works fine if you don't go too far from the base or charger unit...it has problems going thru walls and making curves...I wouldn't recommend this phone unless you plan on staying by the base.
Good.......2007-12-27
I am happy with the product but not sure about the extended range. Has some noise as distance from base increases.
Noisy.......2007-11-30
I don't like this phone, it some times has noise, even though being very near from the base.
Works fine.......2007-10-01
I've had this phone for several months and have had no problems. The range is quite good if there are no buildings in the way. Outperforms my earlier phones by a wide margin. Clear sound. I have no need for features beyond talking and listening, so gadget lovers might look elsewhere.

EXCELLENT!!.......2007-12-31
Great phone at a great price! Very easy to program. I got this phone for my aunt and uncle who are older and they love it!
Another good one by Uniden.......2007-11-04
After my last Uniden died, I went out and bought a v-tech. It cost more (which in turn should have meant it WAS BETTER, right? wrong.) plus it stated right on the front of the box, "recommended for wifi"-and as a vonage user, that was awesome. I plug it in and I can't hear the person on the other end, they can't hear me. I check my phone line with my phone company, they run a test, I go through all of this hassle. I call the store I bought it from, and I can't return it. After all this I came online to my very trustworthy Amazon seller, and I purchased another Uniden...and I will forever on.
The phone itself is very simplistic, not complicated at all. It has the regular features we use everyday (called ID, call waiting ID, voicemail, speed dial) and even some we don't (memos- records up to 10 minutes of any conversation: please read the fine print on this one though guys!)
Overall I just love the phone. Uniden has never let me down in the past, it's clear, has many options, and is a great product.
Exactly what I expected.......2007-09-10
This phone works great. Exactly as described. If you don't need anything fancy, this is the phone for you.
Good but not good enough.......2007-05-31
One of the most important features for me in a telephone is that it must have speakerphone capability, since I'm using it for hours at a stretch, attending meetings and conference calls. I purchased this phone because the speaker phone was one of its listed capabilities, but to my surprise, it just didn't have it :(. Wrong advertisement perhaps. Anyhow, with that exception, the phone performs great otherwise. If speakerphone is a must then this is not for you. That is why I give it 3 stars - it would be a 5 otherwise...

Good value for the money.......2007-10-06
To turn off the ringtone of your base unit, go to handset, select menu, setup devices, base, ringer, off. That's the one thing I had trouble figuring out. So you have to do 2 procedures if you want to turn off your answering machine ring and your handset ring. The phone is a good value. The seller on Amazon offered a a very good price.
Wall mounting is not very secure, and I wouldn't recommend it.
My next phone would be one that I can update from the PC (phonebooks and ringtones, etc.) and have a large screen like my cell phone.
Great phone - cheap battery.......2007-10-01
When you get the phone, check to see if it came with a Sanik battery. If so, plan on replacing it ASAP... my suggestion would be a Energizer ER-P510. If you don't, you will experience the static that many reviewers have mentioned, followed by run-down after 30 min of talking, followed by death at about 1 year. As shipped, I should probably rate this phone lower, but if it shipped with a good battery I would rate it 5-stars.
Wide range of capabilities.......2007-09-06
With the optional bluetooth cell phone dock and regular phone connectivity it is a good phone to have. While there have been some issues with the bluetooth, I feel they are mainly caused by the cell phone and not the docking station. It is a good phone and works great.
nice features, poor battery life.......2007-08-19
good phone, but uses AAA rechargable batterys rather than AA's other phones use, this use of smaller batterys results in a less that 1 hour talk time, i dont ues phone much, but when i do i would expect a longer talk time
JUNK!!!!.......2007-01-31
actually purchased the SD7561...(has no keypad on base) The handsets have terrible static. I was on the phone with Motorola tech support all the time...no handset range, your own voice echoed in the handset....I returned the entire system.

A three-handset cordless phone system from Uniden, the DXI5586-3 delivers both signal quality and a useful set of features. Utilizing 5.8 GHz extended range technology, the DXI5586-3 is able to offer clearer reception and greater range than many 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz phones. Plus, the two additional handsets include individual charging cradles, so you can place them anywhere you have a power outlet--no additional phone jack is required.
Caller ID and call waiting compatible, the DXI5586-3 has a 30-number caller ID memory as well as 10 speed dial presets for your most frequently used numbers. With display-and-dial, you can call any displayed number simply by pressing the Talk button, while the auto-talk feature lets you answer the phone just by lifting the handset from its base. Handset and ringer controls allow you to adjust volume levels to your liking, and headset compatibility gives you the option of hands-free communication.
A handset-to-handset call transfer feature lets you route incoming calls to the other handset location, and a page button makes finding a misplaced handset quick and easy. A voicemail waiting indicator lets you know when you have messages waiting, and the low-battery indicator alerts you when your batteries are running low. The DXI5586-3 is hearing aid compatible as well as wall-mountable for added placement options. Uniden offers a one-year limited warranty.

Absolute Garbage--DO NOT BUY!!!.......2007-12-06
Someone in my family bought these phones to replace the 2 handset system we had when 1 of those 2 handsets stopped working. The phones do work and are able to make/receive calls. However, besides that they are useless. They do not have speakerphone (which is quite useful when you are on hold for 5+ minutes). Also, you can't talk on more than 1 handset at a time (which is quite useful when 2 people in the house both want to be talking to someone, usually a relative). So if you want a completely basic phone set with no frills or extra features, go ahead and buy it. If you want something useful, please do the research that my family member did not do and shop for something else.
Convenient, great price.......2007-06-08
How anyone could think that just because you are purchasing multiple handsets you could make several calls at once is beyond me. You would need to have multiple phone lines in the house, not phones. The purpose of the multihandsets is convenience, ie... I put one by my TV chair so that I don't have to get up and go into the kitchen to answer the phone; I also keep another one in the laundry area. They are cordless and no jack is required for the handsets. Very convenient, with teens who are always walking off with my phone, we can't have too many phones in the house.
added bonus!!!.......2007-06-01
Well at first it was annoying that we couldnt use 2 phones at once but then I realized that my wife couldn't snoop in on my phone conversations!!
Poor range........2007-01-16
Very poor range. Tried everything. Phone broke up from one room to the next.
My old 900 MHz phone worked much, much better. This purchase was returned.
Poor range.......2006-12-31
The range of this phone is far less than what I expected, It reaches far less than my 900 MHz or my 2.4 GHz phones, and there's the issue of only being able to use one handset at a time that someone else posted earlier. I do not recommend it.

Good Phone.......2007-12-09
Good phone, good quality, no battery issues (in fact, good battery life). I recommend this phone. I've purchased this model and also a separate buddy-phone. Both have worked great.
28021EE1.......2007-05-31
Phone is large enough to not feel like you are talking into a cell phone, but the numbers stored in memory are not alphabetized. The caller ID often displays "Incomplete Data" instead of showing the number calling while the other phones in the house are able to show the caller information. Definitely better phones out there.
Don't buy.......2007-03-19
I bought two of this, but both came with batteries bad, good volume but bad product, with this experience this was my last time to buy GE wireless phones.
Long battery life.......2007-01-20
This is the most long lasting battery. The phone charge's quick and I love it. You can talk for hours with this phone.
Best quality phone with good looks.......2006-10-12
Looks good in living room, appearance go with today's living room electronics. Quality is ok and battery life is good. 5.8 GHz did make a difference in call quality, compared to 2.4 GHz which interferes with wifi.

Avoid this phone!.......2007-09-21
We purchased this phone a few months ago, and it has been nothing but trouble. It is made of cheap plastic, the reception is terrible, and the functionality is extremely limited. Some features make no sense, like the fact that the message voice will tell you the time of day and the year (!) someone called, but not the date of the call. Real junk, you can get better phones for less money--avoid this!
Clear reception, works well.......2007-05-20
I have the 4-phone version of this (E5947B), purchased on sale at Best Buy for about 50% more than Amazon's 2-phone offering.
I've had it for 6 months. Everyone is happy with it. The voice quality is very good, and no reception problems in our wireless LAN equipped home.
The intercom feature is quite useful if you have 4 people in a large home. It's easy to transfer or forward calls to another extension.
Minor drawbacks are as follows:
1. The wall-plug transformers run a little hot, even if the phone is charged and even if the phone is out of the cradle. 4 of these running 365x24 will add to your electric bill. Sad that AT&T does not bother with energy-smart charging.
2. If your hands are full, you can't wedge the phone between your chin and neck. You'll probably pinch the "Off" button and disconnect.
3. The quality of the recorded messages is fairly bad. No excuse for this.
4. Phone supports caller ID. If you don't have caller ID, you will find 2 minor annoyances: The phone does not auto-answer when it's ringing and you take it off the cradle. Also, if the main base unit loses power, it loses track of time. You have to reset the clock. Very feeble. If you use caller ID it automatically sets (or resets) the time.
Overall, we are happy with it. Don't know if there is 5-star product out there.
Problem prone unit.......2007-01-04
Am pleased with unit in most respects except erratic performance. Features are good, but dialing using the stored numbers bring this unit to the edge of unacceptability. It often requires 2 or more dialing attempts and sometimes connects with no audio reception---while the person called can hear everything including a few unsavory comments concerning the unit. The troubleshooting portion of the manual is an insight to the inherent problems and making it clear that returning it for repair would be useless. Following troubleshooting instructions provided no relief. I would return this unit for a refund if possible though. I fully expect to have to replace this unit in the near future.
Disappointing quality.......2006-08-21
I bought this last week and will be returning it today. While I can usually hear phone conversations OK, the quality of the voice is not very good - usually has some static. The user manual is incomplete and confusing (for example, blinking codes on base display are not explained; words printed on the phone parts are not in the index - the user manual uses different words for the same parts!), editing caller id info in the user directory does not update the corresponding info in the caller id list (phones from Panasonic and Sony do this correctly - AT&T does not). If you want to buy a quality 5.8 GHz phone, try any other brand. AT&T goofed on the quality and design of this one!

Great phones.......2007-12-26
I have one of these phones hooked to my computer and two handsets throughout the house. I have used them for some time now with no problems at all. My hearing isn't real good, but I have no problem with these phones. My wife and I think they are just great, and highly recommend them.

excellent product for the price.......2007-11-16
We have had these phones for over 3 years and haven't had a single problem with them. I especially like the 2-way intercom and handset finder features.
Good Product.......2007-06-27
Lots of features. Good phone, expandable to add other handsets. I would reccommend. Unlike my old cordless, only draback is when you clear caller ID on one handset, it does not clear it on the other handsets.
Features Fall Short of Promise.......2007-06-02
We've had this system, expanded to 10 handsets, for 6 months. When our old phones and baby monitor died I wanted to buy a new set that could double as an intercom system and baby monitor, both of which are features advertised with this system. I found to my regret that this is a decent expandable system, but does not live up to its promise regarding advanced features.
PROS:
- Expands to 10 handsets fine. The extra regular handsets interchange with the original chargers fine. Only the 2 waterproof handsets have to use their different base.
- Voice mail indicator light on the top of each handset works with the phone company's indicator tone (i.e. stutter dial tone).
- Dedicated voice mail button can be programmed to dial your retrieval phone number & code for one touch message retrieval.
- Each handset has a number (based on the order in which you register them with the base) and a nickname. When you turn on room monitoring or intercom, it gives you the list in numeric order to scroll through, but also shows you the nicknames ("Kitchen", "Johns Room", etc.).
- Redial has the last 3 numbers dialed, not just the last 1.
- Good backlighting shows up in the dark.
CONS:
- None of the bases are wall mountable.
- Each handset must be configured individually. The phone book can be entered on one then told to copy to each of the others (one at a time). All other features including speed dial settings, voice mail key, ring tones, etc. have to be set on each handset.
- Ring tone choices are poor, and grating. There are no remotely "normal" ring tones that are not either gratingly high pitched and metallic, or too soft to be heard. We resorted to the musical tunes but the handsets don't ring at the same time, so it's still a cacaphony.
- The intercom feature has it's own painful ringtone that can't be changed.
- The "intercom" is more accurately termed "in house calling". The receiving handset rings, and a person must pick it up and answer it. There's no way to make it automatically go to speakerphone. So if the kids choose not to answer the phone, you can't just tell them to come downstairs to dinner anyway. So much for our plan to quit shouting up the stairs! There is one brand that works the "correct" way. Unfortunately, I forgot which it was, since I ran out of time and motivation to package up 10 Unidens and send them back in order to by the other system.
- Speakerphone won't turn on until after a few rings when calling out. You can't turn on speakerphone then dial. Our old AT&T 2 handset system allowed us to hit the speaker button to get a dialtone, then dial the #.
- Speakerphone volume max is low; it's borderline if you're using the room monitoring feature for listening to a sleeping baby.
- When room monitoring is on you cannot make or receive calls. When there is an incoming call you'll get one odd tone, then you have to quickly turn of monitoring and then answer the call.
- Handsets cannot be used as monitoring receivers (the listening end) while on the base. So they have to be well charged ahead of time, and may not make it through the night.
Recommendation: All of the manufacturers have their user manuals online. Before buying a system, download the manual and read through the details of how the features work. If I had done that, I would not have purchased this phone.
Nice phone.......2007-04-12
This phone has tons of features for the price. Sound quality is very good, however, range from base could be a little better.

Terrible.......2007-07-07
The voice quality was awful. It sounded like I was talking on a two-way radio. Those on the other end of the line reported a similar lack of quality. Honestly, I've never experienced a phone this bad.
Nice!
