Adds depth to movie soundtracks.......2007-12-29
Nice rumble! If you have a good pair of floorstanding speakers with decent bass you probably don't need a sub, or you'll need one more powerful than this, but it worked out perfectly for me paired with the SSF-5000s.
Pleased with the price performance.......2007-12-28
Met my expectations. It worked and sounded great. It's not a thundering unit but it acheived everything I wanted from it. I really like the auto shut off / turn on feature where it goes into standby if the sterio is off or the sub woofer is not called upon from the sterio system
Wow, it's amazing !.......2007-12-28
What a difference a subwoofer can make.
I rate 4 star because the refurbished one
is not as new as described. But it works really great when I hooked
it with my YAMAHA HTR-6030SL!
Great sub. Rating is because of shipment........2007-12-22
First, the subwoofer.
I have one of the Sony STG amplifiers which I purchased recently from CCity. This sub seems custom made for that amp, as it works flawlessly. To those that say the bass is "tinny", you're not configuring right or your source is off. If your source doesn't have much bass you're not going to get much thump. Also, it's a subwoofer; it's not supposed to be "clear sound". It's just the bass. Your other 5-7 speakers should be giving you the clear sound you desire. In other words don't expect this to be your only speaker. That's not how it works.
The best way to use this is to turn the dials on the sub to the max, then adjust your amplifier's sub volume to a comfortable level. Mine is at halfway and I get sufficient thump (I'm in an upstairs unit so I can't put it too deep). If you have HD service, it's the best way to test your new sub. Now, it's important to note that this sub supports both line-level (RCA plug) and speaker-level (speaker wire) inputs, however the line-level really is the better choice.
Lastly, the auto-power option is pointless; I recommend just disabling it, and plugging your subwoofer's power cable into the back of your amplifier. If you want security, your amplifier should then be plugged into a UPS surge protector with battery backup; that should ensure sufficient power to both. Plus it will make sure your sub is only on when you actually need it. The auto-power option will just get annoying, because it turns the sub off when it doesn't detect a certain level of bass; well obviously most broadcasts don't have eternal bass,, so it will "click" on whenever the bass kicks in, and it's just a bother.
So why is my rating so low? The way Amazon shipped it. They used FedEx Overnight...well, FedEx is a VERY poor shipper. They don't follow the rules. FedEx is supposed to require signatures for 2-Day or Next Day Air shipments, for security reasons. This box (which was just a regular box indicating a very expensive piece of equipment was inside) was just left at my front door, no signature. I didn't even know it was there until I got home from work and saw it there. It could have been stolen and I couldn't prove otherwise since there was no signature requirement. This complex has a policy for overnight couriers where they leave it at the front office and one of the staff signs for the package, that way I know it got received by an authorized person. Didn't happen. This same deal happens every single time Amazon uses FedEx. It bothers me they that they choose to use them. I'd rather have a one day delay with UPS.
Sounds more like 200 Watts!!!!.......2007-12-18
I've heard alot of subs, and for the price, this is one of my favorites!!!!!

From the furniture-style Sonoma collection, this video base provides a handsome display for most 36-inch conventional TVs (up to 240 pounds) or 60-inch flat-panel TVs (up to 154 pounds), plus plenty of peripherals. Two tempered-glass doors on each end protect components and DVDs from dust or damage, while a center open cubby provides easy access to often-used items. All shelves are adjustable for storage flexibility, and a top drawer handles small items like remote controls. For inconspicuous wire management, there are strategically placed cutouts in the back panel. Finished in a deep Mocha Cherry veneer with square, silver-toned drawer pulls and gracefully flared legs, Sonoma has a classic look that is both comfortable and crisp. The video base measures 57-7/8 inches wide by 22-1/8 inches deep by 20-1/8 inches high and has been tested for tip-free safety. Assembly is required, and instructions and a toll-free customer help line are included. One-year warranty. --Kara Karll

Good form and finish. Fit could be better........2007-12-24
I ordered this TV console for my new Sony 46" LCD TV after first comig across it at http://www.everythingfurniture.com/bush-video-base-3.html via a Google search.
The price on Amazon for the same item was $296 compared to $405 at the other site. Why was I not surprised?!
Was delivered a whole week ahead of estimate - pleasantly surpirsed. The Package is heavy! Weighed 132lbs.
The assembly was straightforward but time consuming and thankfully no missing bolts, screws etc..
One issue I have with this stand is that the back panel has very small openings for wires to go through and there is *zero* access to your A/V equipment connections through the back. You have to be creative and first make your connections to the back of your equipment before you put them on the shelves, push the wires out from the front through the small back panel openings and then place equipment on the shelves and further pull the wires out from the back to connect to the TV or power outlets. Somewhat tricky! I can imagine some cases where this may not be practical but in my case connections worked out eventually (I have a A/V receiver, CD changer, DVD player and DVR sitting on the 4 shelves inside the glass doors).
Second issue is that the right door hinge slots were slightly off and the door grazes against the bottom frame when it is opened and shut. Minor issue but expected better fit from a $300 TV stand.
Overall looks elegant in my living room though. Might consider buying the companion audio rack downstream.
Great piece.......2007-12-22
Just ordered this table and received it in two days with free shipping. There was only one minor blemish that is easily corrected. Nothing worth sending it back over. It took my engineer husband about 3 hours to put it together. It is a solid unit, very stable and looks terrific! Well worth the money. Even my husband commented that we should have bought it sooner.
Good(not Great) Furniture, Great Customer Service by BUSH.......2007-11-30
The furniture is of good quality but the spaces are rather small. Check out the measurements carefully for your components before buying. I can only fit 4 components, 1 in each shelf.
My biggest complaint is those DAMN stickers they use to ID the parts. It is quite a task to remove them. They are paper and they tear and layer off.
Big Kudos to BUSH customer service. It was shipped directly from Bush and 2 pieces got damaged, 1 of them being the top piece (the largest and heaviest part). They sent me a replacement with no questions in 3 days!!!
Overall I would recommend it, especially for under $300 with delivery.

Sleek and sophisticated, Bush Furniture's Universal TV/VCR video base provides a striking modern display for today's 62-inch flat-panel televisions (it accommodates most up to 165 pounds), plus several peripherals. The sturdy metal frame consists of wide, flat posts in a minimalist, open design with a high-gloss black finish. Three black tempered-glass shelves rest on vibration-dampening pads for improved sound quality, and double back spines provide both extra stability and wire concealment with their round grommets. The video base measures 58 inches wide by 20-1/2 inches deep by 22-9/10 inches high and has been tested for tip-free safety. Adjustable levelers help to keep this piece even on any floor. solid.......2007-12-14
This is a solid and reasonably well-made piece of assemble-it-yourself furniture. The box was *heavy*; I live on the third floor, and for a while it looked like my delivery man wouldn't be able to get it up to me. If you're going to be moving yourself at any point in the near future, you might think twice. On the upside, it's heavy because it's sturdy.
The closed back style makes it a bit tricky to hook your componants up to each other and the tv, but also does a better job at hiding the cords in the darkness than our old open-back cart did. The bevelled glass door sometimes gets in the way of a remote signal, or makes the display on the lower shelf's componant hard to read, but you could easily remove it if that was an issue for you.
Overall, I'm pleased with how it looks and functions, I just wish it weren't so heavy.
TV Cabinet.......2007-10-17
This thing is really heavy--but very sturdy. Assembly instructions were good and it looks nice. The description says it fits a 42" flat screen, but my 46" Samsung fits on it with room to spare.

Part of Bush Furniture's sophisticated Midnight Mist entertainment collection, this spacious video base provides a striking modern display for today's large flat-panel televisions (it accommodates most 60-inch models, up to 154 pounds) plus plenty of peripherals. Three black, tempered-glass shelves are housed inside a unique double frame with wide textured black metal posts on the outside and narrow chrome poles that rise up from within. Notice how the staggered construction gives the top level a floating effect--a clever design detail. The shelves rest on vibration-dampening pads for improved sound quality, and two back spines provide both extra stability and wire concealment with their oval cutouts. The base measures 59 inches wide by 17.7 inches deep by 19.8 inches high and has been tested for tip-free safety. very happy.......2008-01-02
Came in a couple days with free shipping. This thing looks awesome in my living room. the shelves are a little short, but the overall height puts my tv at perfect eye level. Holds cable box, stereo, ps3, nintendo wii, and 42" ambilight with style. (could also squeeze in a dvd player or vcr if needed) The instructions suck, but thats to be expected with any furniture you assemble.
Dimensions quite small.......2007-11-26
Read the dimensions in the description. Seven inches seems a bit meager whether that's height width or depth. Perhaps someone at Bush or Amazon would like to correct that description.
Awesome stand!.......2007-11-17
I really like the look of this stand! I'm getting a 42" Flat Panel LCD TV along with it, and after searching around online and at stores, this was in my opinion the best value. I bought it on a Monday, and even with the slowest shipping option (free shipping), I received it that Thursday!
The assembly of this stand is pretty straightforward, and shouldn't take more than an hour. If you get this stand, which I recommend, just make sure to really pay attention to the directions and the orientation of all the pieces, or you'll have to backtrack a few times like I did!
Two negatives that I have with it:
1)(Small negative) It's a little low for me. If it were a few inches higher, it would be perfect. But even at its height, it's still fine.
2)(Big negative) Along the same lines...with the way the support bars are designed, the shelves are not tall enough to fit DVD's in upright!! Whats the deal?? You'd think if you were to design a TV stand, you would at give the shelves enough height for DVD's! Technically you can fit them in there, but you have to place them behind that horizontal chrome bar, and then make sure you have enough space to tilt each DVD at an angle in order to get it out...sheesh! Either that or just stack them on top of each other, if you don't mind it.
Besides those two low points (no pun intended :-) this is a nice stand, and overall I am glad I bought it.
