Well Worth The Money.......2007-12-30
Overview: Great microphone, great ear piece, great range, great battery life, good price. There are a few features I would change. But I've tried several products on the market and believe that this is the best out there.
Details: I am very happy with the Plantronics CT12. I've recently begun to telecommute. Since the majority of my day is spent on the phone, I needed a hands-free product. I've tried many different solutions: speaker phones, blue tooth headsets, and wired headsets that plug into wireless or cellular phones. Every time I would buy something new, I found myself using it for a few days and ultimately deciding that it wasn't going to work. It wasn't until I found the CT12 that I stopped searching.
I needed a phone that had great sound quality (both for me and the party to whom I was speaking), a mute feature, wireless (I like to pace on teleconferences), long battery life and good range (if the weather's nice, I like to work outside). The CT12 has everything I needed.
Battery life: I've been on four hour phone calls and never heard the low battery chime. I'm very happy with the battery life.
Range/Static: I was originally concerned that the phone was only 2.4 GHz. My other wireless home phone is 5.8 GHz and has really good sound quality. But my concerns were unwarranted. Not only is there no interference, but I can go all the way to the back of my yard (roughly 100' from the base) and never even pick up any static. And I live in an older neighborhood where the power lines are still overhead. And there's never any interference.
Mute: It works well but I don't like that you have to hold the mute button down for a second before it comes on. If I need to cough or sneeze or block out the dog barking, I don't want the person on the other end to hear it for a second before the mute kicks in. However, it does turn off immediately after pressing the button again. So, all in all, this is just annoying but doesn't make me love my phone less.
Key Size: The buttons on the phone are tiny and are not back lit. That can make them hard to read and use. But, once you've had it for a while, you'll know which keys are which without looking.
Comfort: I find that I often leave the phone on even when I'm not in a call. Not on purpose, but just because I forgot to take it off. It's so comfortable to wear that I can forget I'm wearing it.
Sound quality: One of the biggest failings of other headsets I've used is sound quality. On conference calls, often times participants come through at different volume levels. With the CT12 I can quickly adjust the volume level. And the volume goes high enough that I can always hear even the faintest participant. 99% of the time I leave the volume set to medium and that is sufficient. I have never needed the "maximum" setting (the settings are low, medium, high, maximum). Another failing of other headsets is the quality of my voice transmitted to the other parties. That isn't an issue with the CT12. In fact, nobody can even tell that I'm on a headset. Everybody says that I sound like I'm using a hand held receiver.
I wish.......2007-12-30
I wish the phone had a longer battery life. It has to be recharged every 11 - 12 hours. Other wise there is a low beeping sound and a "low battery" flash across the display and then the phone dies.
Also if you place the phone on the charger while you are in the middle of a call, you will dis-connect the call.
Otherwise I am happy with the cordless headset phone.
simply the best.......2007-12-29
i feel that my plantronics ct 12 is simply the best headset home phone i've ever had. i love hands free phone communication and have had others that are nowhere near the comfort and ease of my plantronics and as i found out later it is digitally encoded so now i feel safer with my information. if you watch ace of cakes on food network, mary alice has one she uses at the business also. with the fire fly on the mic boom now people know i'm on the phone and not just talking to myself. -k
Great Cordless Economical Phone.......2007-12-29
I initially purchased phone to keep my husband off his cellular phone while at home during the day to help save his peak minutes. We love the phone because it allows us the freedom of movement that other yet cordless phones do not have, primarily the sleekness and weight of the phone itself and the two types of headsets that comes with the phone for your convenience. I am very pleased with the product and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a handfree cordless phone. Great phone to purchase for elderly parents or anyone who has trouble handling a handset. The ID caller area is a little smaller than I would like but I can live with it. Thank you.
Great phone, but kills my wireless connection 50% of the time.......2007-12-28
I've had this phone for a couple of years now. I bought it to use for phone conferencing while I work from home. I like that it is fully cordless so you can use the handsfree and have a dialpad that is completely mobile. The Mute button and Caller ID are great features. But there is one problem that has me now looking for a replacement. This phone operates at 2.4 GHz and about half the time it knocks out my wireless internet connection when I use it. This makes it really hard to use when working from home! I know that other reviewers have said that it doesn't affect their other devices, but it does with mine - so I wouldn't recommend the gamble.

Reliable Product So Far!.......2007-11-11
Panasonic has been a reliable brand for my family for some time. So when my old Panasonic phone went kaput after more than ten years, I purchased this product.
With a 1400 sq ft house, I only needed two cordless land-line phones for my office and another for the kitchen. Outside of that, I needed a phone that had a decent sized answering machine, caller ID and speaker phone functions. At a reasonable price, this product definitely fit the bill. I've been able to hear all callers clearly and without any static interference so far. I've been very satisfied with the reliability experienced whenever I've used this phone set.
Nothing like Panasonic Quality.......2007-11-09
I have had Panasonic phones for over 10 years now, so when it come to buying a phone for my grandmother, it wasn't a question as to what I was going to buy. My first phone was a used cordless Panasonic phone and base. It lasted for better than 2 years. The next set I got from Sam's Club over 8 years ago. It is a 3 phone and digital answering machine base set. I've never replaced the batteries in any of them and just now having one where you have to push a couple of the buttons hard to make the #. Not bad in my book! I've moved that phone to a room less used and now no more problems.
Excellent Choice.......2007-11-01
I purchased this phone after being driven nearly deaf and insane by a GE Edge phone whose ring and key volume were loud enough to hear easily in the next apartment over (and we don't normally hear our neighbors at all!), and which could not be adjusted.
Overall, this phone is almost exactly what I was looking for. It allows you to adjust ring tone, ring volume, and key tone (either on or off in the later case). Voices come through clear, and the vocal enhancement feature is nice too. It's also relatively easy to program/save answering machine messages.
I have only two minor complaints about it: First, one has to go through a couple of menus in order to turn the ringer off. I don't like being awakened by supposed charities calling at 8 am so I normally want to turn the ringer off at night and have it on low during the day. Secondly, there should be a means by which one can change the volume of the speaker; thus far, turning the voice enhancement on or off is enough for me. On the other hand, if you have sub-par hearing, you should consider a panasonic model that allows one to change the speaker volume.
Lastly, though I haven't tried it much, I don't think the speaker-phone option works very well. It is of sufficient volume to hear the person talking to you, but you still need to be within a couple feet of your phone and speaking directly at it to pick your voice up very well. I think if you want this functionality, you should probably just pick yourself up a headset.

An additional cordless handset with charger that is specifically designed for the Panasonic KX-TG2700 / 2720 / 2730 / 2740 Systems
Amazon.com Product Description
The KX-TGA270S from Panasonic is an add-on extension handset designed for use with KX-TG2700S, KX-TG2720S, KX-TG2730S, or KX-TG2740S Expandable Cordless Systems. By utilizing the 2.4 GHz frequency band, as well as Frequency Hopping Digital Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology, the KX-TGA270S provides crisp, clear reception even at significant distance from the base.
An illuminated keypad makes dialing easy in the dark, while a headset jack gives you the option of hands-free operation. Four-way conferencing allows you to talk with multiple people, while a two-way intercom lets you communicate with family and friends near the other phone.
With call waiting, you won't miss any important calls, while Caller ID (with subscription to telephone company services) means you can avoid those calls you would rather miss. A great way to expand your current Panasonic phone system, the KX-TG2700S also features six selectable ring tones as well as a handset volume control. Panasonic also provides a one-year parts and labor warranty.

Best cordless system available today.......2007-12-25
I have been using this system in my business for quite a few years now. Both of my handsets were giving me a problem because the number keys had basically worn out from use, and so I started shopping for a new system. I tested pretty well all of the new systems currently available, including Panasonic's, and was surprised and disappointed to discover that none of them had more than half the range from the base unit as my trusty old 270S's did!
Since the base unit of the system still functions perfectly, I was very happy to discover that handsets for the system are still available, and so I replaced the worn out ones with two new ones.
I cannot understand why none of the new systems perform as well as this old one, and am not used to electronics communications technology going backwards, but it seems that it has. I am afraid that Panasonic has probably stopped making these or will stop making them soon. It will be unfortunate because they are so much better than anything else that is currently available.
not good..........2007-11-06
teh problem is that with multiple lines, you cannot be heard by the other party. It seems that I am always having to scream into the phone, to be heard. Save yourmoney and look elsewhere...
GREAT PHONE.......2007-08-16
I ALREADY HAD THE BASE UNIT AND ONE EXTENSION. THE EXTENSION PHONE BROKE SO I BOUGHT A UNIDEN SET WHAT A MISTAKE. SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER KX-TGA270S EXTENSION WORKS GREAT IN MULTI LEVEL HOME AND OUTDOORS. I AM GOING TO GET AN OTHER ONE.
Great chordless phone.......2007-07-24
This is a great cordless phone. You can have up to 8 including the base. We have 7 and it doesn't effect their use at all. You can page each other from room to room which is nice when you live in a 3 story house! The price is right too.
great.......2007-05-07
I really recommend!!! I've purchased it to include the extension in my office and it worked just fine.

Good Value.......2007-12-25
I had a 5.8 GHz phone previous to the purchase of this one and the volume would not go loud enough. I am not divulging national secrets over the phone so the security isn't an issue that is supposed to be gained with the 5.8. (I use my cell phone for those).
I am very pleased with this purchase. The caller ID and memory are the features I enjoy the most. The volume is much better. I haven't tested the range of the phone from it's base outside but it works well within the house anywhere I have taken it. It is worth the $20 that I paid for it.
ge phone.......2007-11-07
it looks nice but the caller id is too something to read it right off. the phone also sounds hollow sometimes and does not automatically change channels so that does not happen. For the money it would be a good phone for the garage or the basement but not for everyday use.
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.......2007-10-07
After 5 weeks, the battery stopped holding a charge. The company tried to tell us the phone was three years old. It's not worth fussing with, but, man!, what service!
Great phone.......2007-10-05
Needed a replacement for my old GE that I had for 12 years, perfect for a second phone, very lightweight and easy on the ear. Great Phone!!!!
Display is bad.......2007-10-04
The display is just bad. You cannot see the numbers you type or the caller Id's number. Otherwise the phone works. It's cheap.

Terrible Phone.......2007-12-26
The Sound quality for this phone is awful. It's too low unless you blast the volume and the static is sometimes so bad I can't hear anything else. The Caller Id produces an error more often than any cordless I've ever owned. Sometimes it doesn't save the last few numbers that called. Why that is I can't figure out. The phone is less than a year old but it has reached a point where now it makes a hum noise then dies immediately after.
Save your $20. Put it towards a nicer phone.
low battery.......2007-11-03
I loved this phone for about 9 months then the battery started dying. I bought it because it was cheap. I suppose I got my money's worth out of it as I used it quite a bit, but I expected it to last around five years, not one.
meh.......2007-10-02
it is cheap and performs like a cheap phone. battery is dead after about a year. the volume is low. the screen started to fail. the coverage is average at best. you can do better for a few bucks more
easy to integrate into our office.......2007-09-28
Doesn't have a whole lot of features, but it's perfect for what we needed -- a simple, easy-to-use single-channel cordless that would work with our office phone architecture.
No Thank You!.......2007-08-23
This phone is horrible -- the sound quality is terrible, the caller id display is extremely faint, and there is constant static that sometimes i have to hang up in the middle of a call and redial just to get rid of the noise. my cheap radioshack 900mhz phone that i've had for 4 years is waaaay better. the only plus about this GE phone is that the battery life is great.

Panasonic KX-TG2620W 2.4 Ghz Cordless Phone.......2007-12-13
This is one of the better cordless phones I've ever used. I bought it to replace a Siemens model which interfers with my wireless internet signals and knocks it off the air whenever it is used! But this Panasonic KX-TG2620W I just bought has no effects at all!
I also bought a black model (Panasonic KX-TG2620B). I have found that the white one has better keypad readability.
Overall, I like both of them, though.
One more thing. Panasonic is one of the few cordless phones that uses NiMH batteries which have not memory. I recommend it!

Not as sturdy as I'd hoped. The sound quality isn't so great either. Very lightweight-feels like a toy!
Great phone for the price.......2007-09-07
Being one of the largest electronic manufacturer in the world, Panasonic can definitely produce high quality products that most people don't have to worry too much about it. This phone is an excellent example of quality, design and value that Panasonic can produce.

We bought this phone because of its long range which allows us to use it when we are in the barn which is approximately 100 yards from the house. The phone has all the relevant features which we find necessary.

Good for Almost Deaf.......2007-10-07
My mother is almost completely deaf and has a hard time even with hearing aids. She can use this phone with or without the hearing aids. I do get a slight clicking on my end but it's not loud enough to be annoying. It's a good buy for hearing impaired.
Great volume and clarity.......2007-05-12
This phone is appropriately named. I have just given this to my elderly mother, so it has not yet had much use, but so far she is very pleased. She can hear much better than on any other "volume control" phone we have tried for her... and there is much more volume available that she has not used. She didn't think any phone could reach a volume "too loud" for her. Her hearing loss is significant in the high register, so the tone adjustment is also a nice benefit. This phone has many excellent features.
Great Gift for someone hard of hearing.......2007-03-13
Got a senior relative that won't wear a hearing aid, but doesn't always hear the phone ringing? And can't quite catch all of the conversation when they do answer the phone? I did, got them this phone for a gift and it has helped a great deal. Directions to assemble the base it sits on are kind of cryptic so you might want to be there to help them set it up, but once it's going it works great -- nice and loud, but not annoyingly so.

phone.......2007-12-28
I like this phone very much. It goes for days without having to recharge it. It's very clear and overall a nice phone.
Good for the price.......2007-12-22
This phone caught our eye because the price was right and it had 3 handsets. It was easy to set up. My husband thinks the handsets appear a bit cheap looking, but I like them because they're light. Entering & storing names & numbers is easy. The earlier comments about voice quality being a little tinny are true, but it's not awful. We'd get this again.
Quality product at affordable price........2007-12-17
I really liked the intercom feature on this phone, which has improved our in-house communications significantly. There are lots of features in this phone, but its really easy to set-up and start using.
snap crackle and pop.......2007-12-05
the range is shorter than i expected, by far. there are irritating popping and crackling sounds when talking, when taking off the cradle, when dialing.
mom has a motorola, shoulda taken that advice...i am becoming less and less a panasonic fan...
GREAT ITEM.......2007-11-24
Bought and received this phone package about 2 weeks ago. It is great!
Especially like the speakerphone feature.. can use the computer or do other things without balancing the phone on my shoulder. Actually shape of phone does make balancing the phone between neck/shoulder difficult.
Easy to use. Like the phone book feature as well. Actually haven't used all the features yet.
Again, favorite feature is speakerphone and no one has complained that they have trouble hearing me.

OK but not great.......2007-11-24
Cuts out and goes to static when I get more than a few feet away from the base. I have to turn my body so that it comes back on. My old phone with less GHz actually worked better. Display light not as bright as my old one. My old one was also a GE so I thought this would be just as good and hopefully better since it's supposed to be more powereful. Not the case.
Invisible LCD.......2007-09-05
Both phones in the 2-phone set had only LCD lighting from the bottom and were impossible to read unless held facing down and away. I don't know if the design was cheapened or both phones were defective. Batteries were charged longer than the suggested period before use. In a test call, the audio quality was fine.
I returned the phone set and wouldn't order another GE phone.
GE Dual Handset Phones.......2007-04-10
I am pleased to finally have a phone in our den where we do not have a working phone jack. Have a second phone without a jack is a great convenience. The sound quality is good also.
plastic too cheap.......2007-03-09
This phone maybe worth the money, but I was looking for something a bit heavier and substantial. It could pass for a play phone by the material it is made of. In defense of the phone, it is much less expensive than some counterparts and does the same job.
Very nice, no problems........2007-01-12
I'm not very picky concerning a phone, but this phone seems very nice; no static or weak signal, I can read the caller ID okay. No problems.

2-Line Panasonic cordless phone.......2007-11-29
I was specifically looking for a 2-line cordless phone that would hang on the wall. It was a challenge to find this. The Panasonic phone fit the bill and works great. If I had one complaint, it would be that there is only one voice mail message indicator on the phone. This means you have to pick up the phone and listen to the dial tone of each line to find out which line has the voice mail message. This, however, would not make me send the phone back or not purchase it again. I would definitely purchase this phone again.
Nice Phone.......2007-10-09
Panasonic KX-TG2480S 2.4 GHz 2.4GHz FHSS GigaRange Digital Cordless TelephoneI purchased this telephone because I needed a 2-line telephone for the wall in my kitchen that was compatible with the other Panasonic cordless phones in the rest of my home. Right out of the box, this phone did all I expected of it. It looks nice on the wall and works great. It has a 50 number regular memory and a 50 number caller-ID memory. A nice feature is once you set up the 50 number memory with name and number, and a call comes in, the name you have assigned to that number is what shows in the caller-ID window. This is usefull for the cell phone calls you receive which normally don't show the caller's name. I really like this phone and would definitely recommend it.
Better than most.......2007-09-18
Since there seems to be no thoroughly developed cordless phones available, the Panasonic is sort of like picking a presidential candidate: the lesser of the bad. It seems to be made better than most without the typical creaky plastic housing and the sound quality is fine. It also gives plenty of warning for low battery. For some reason, the dialing from memory is like it's second language. Slow and labored. I wish it had a simple way to turn the ringers on and off, not through a sometimes awkward menu gauntlet. And who knows why Panasonic doesn't offer a remote charger base. But credit where credit's due, I've had it for almost a year now with nary a problem.
Panasonic KX-TG2480S Phone.......2007-08-31
Needed a two line phone that included a visual flashing lite to notify us of unplayed 'voice mails'. Wanted a good looking and compact phone to fit on a small built in desk in our family room. Also our hearing is not the greatest and this is super clear and plenty loud (we turned it down). This meets all our needs, was a very good buy, arrived promptly. We have purchased several items thru Amazon and a couple from this vendor and are very happy with quality and service.
Decent 2-line phone for the price.......2007-08-28
Pros:
-CallerID on Call Waiting function.
-Wall mountable base.
-Can be quicky programmed with codes (direct commands).
-Temporary Ringer Off function compensates a bit for lack of DND.
-Operation in the 2.4GHz frequency range has much better coverage than 5.8GHz.
Cons:
-Callers often complain they can barely hear me speak. Voice enhancement (VE) and clarity booster are no help.
-Phone has no DND (Do Not Disturb) button.
-Handset does not display current time/date.
-Handset does not display time elapsed after call.
-Speakerphone only on handset, not base.
-User needs to press HOLD before picking each other line.
-Not many ring tones to choose from.
