compatible with our old intercom system.......2007-10-21
I plugged it in to the phone lines & it found our old panasonic phones. I was able to add it to the intercom system as the next number.
Great Speaker Phone.......2007-10-14
Panasonic is one of the few companies today making a 2-line corded phone with a decent speaker phone. When my 17-year old Panasonic KX-T3155 2-line phone developed excessive static, I decide to try out other brands to see how they stacked up. I bought GE, RCA, and AT&T models, but wound up returning them all to my local Staples, OfficeMax, and Circuit City stores. The speaker phone feature was implemented terribly on all the models (muddy sound, low volume, cutting out when no one was talking on the receiving end, non-functional mute buttons, etc.). If you use the speaker phone feature as much as I do (waiting on hold for customer service, conference calls, etc.), then this is the phone to get. I knocked off one star in the ratings because there is no light for the mute button (like on my old model). Instead, it just displays "Mute" on the LCD. FYI - For some reason, this model is not carried by virtually any retailer (and very few online websites), so that's why I used Amazon.com.
Not practical.......2007-04-15
I am usually a big fan of Panasonic products but this telephone is disappointing. I have had it for a number of years now and here are my main complaints:
- The display is hard to read because it is not backlit and the contrast cannot be fine-tuned very well. It is either too much or too little. The display part also does not tilt, so depending on the light in the room the user will have to make an effort to see the display at a suitable angle.
- There are only three buttons to store frequently dialed numbers. Way too few!
- Scrolling through the display to find a number is tedious and not user-friendly.
-There is also no way to delete all received calls from the list at once (at least I haven't found it). I have sat at this phone forever to delete these one after another after another...
I do not like this phone and wish I had paid better attention when buying. I can only recommend to anyone looking for a new phone to make a list of all the features they want and then check thoroughly whether the model in question has all of them. I didn't and ended up with this phone which annoys me daily...
Great Phone .......2007-01-19
The only problem I have with this phone which is why I only gave it 4 stars is that when it's mounted on the wall the handset is not properly secured and tends to fall frequently. I've had to replace the handset because of this.
Excellent Phone.......2006-06-12
I bought this phone to replace a 10+ year old Panasonic model KX-T3175. This phone is equal in all features carried forward, and has attractive new features like built-in caller ID, intercom, and headset capabilities that make it superior. My LCD display is plenty bright, and contains more information than my previous set.

Panasonic Telephone.......2008-01-01
This telephone system was exactly want I need and wanted. It cost $10 more in the local Radio Shack and I had it with free shipping in less than 1 week
another gem from panasonic.......2007-10-31
Typical Panasonic high build quality. Purchased for UK use and at present it is a little quiet, hope to rectify that in due course. Prompt delivery by Amazon as usual! Keep up the good work.

This requires you plug it in to an outlet.......2007-08-29
I bought this for the kitchen wall, and as soon as I saw it needed to be plugged in, I put it right back in the box. Traditionally, these phones needed 3 AA batteries to operate the extras. Disappointed.
not exactly what i wanted.......2007-08-21
Bought this phone some time ago....maybe I don't know how to use it correctly, but the two line thing gets messed up and I can't get it back to the correct line when I need to.....otherwise has a good sound, nice size buttons and quite easy to use...just needed a one line phone I guess....my mistake not the phones....
Pretty good for the price.......2006-06-20
I've been using this phone for about a month now, and overall it's pretty good.
Pros: Sound quality is good on handset/speakerphone/headset, the controls feel nice, and the unit has a nice clean look. It deals well with the two lines: indicator lights, separate voice mail access codes, hold and conferencing are very easy. Setting up and using the speed dials is very easy (but you only get a few of them, which is fine with me). You can use the speed dials when you're on the phone, which can be useful for access codes and the like. Caller ID does nothing special, but it works as you'd expect, including with Call Waiting calls.
Cons: As others have mentioned, there is no mute button; the voice mail indicator is an LCD instead of a blinking light (really dumb idea). The LCD display is not backlit and not easily viewed at an angle, and the unit sits flat on a desk, so you have to view it at an angle (I put a piece of wood under it to tilt it up, which helps, but is not a great tribute to Panasonic engineering). Also, plugging in a headset disconnects the handset; with a headset plugged in you can't pick up the handset and talk.
Contrary to what another reviewer said, I did find that I could use the first line when there is no power, as the manual claims you can.
Overall, I'm happy enough with the unit. I did plug in a freestanding voice mail indicator light because the "envelope" indicator is pretty much useless, but the other problems are not significant in the way I use it.

Customer Reviews:
Why do companies bother making such junk???.......2008-01-01
We bought two of these phones for our parents and are having the same problems listed with the other reviews for this same model. And, it looks like their reviews are over a year old. Can't believe that a company would continue making, let alone selling, such a piece of junk! Just goes to show -- check for reviews *before* your purchase. Ours are going back. What's the use in having an answering machine that doesn't work?? Shame on you GE!
Don't buy this piece of Junk!!.......2006-10-26
Save your money and don't buy this piece of junk. Ours stopped working after about three months. A real piece of ****!!!
Complete waste of money!.......2006-10-20
This phone stopped working after a week. First, the machine would record half of a message. Next, it started combining messages from various people. Then, it just stopped recording altogether. It would play the outgoing message, and even beep, but NO MESSAGE. We forwarded all calls to our mobile and ordered a Uniden - thank goodness, no problems with that one! Don't waste your money!
Too many red flashing lights.......2006-09-09
I bought this phone because I wanted an answering machine with a red flashing indicator to remind me to listen for messages - because I always forget to check. They sent me a slightly different phone - because of the colour - white GE29893. It works fine and the answering function is unproblematic. Two problems - firstly there are two indicator lights which flash red - one for messages and one for calls - so everytime someone calls it starts flashing and I have to delete the call record. Of course it ends up that the thing is always flashing and I still forget to check for messages. It is also a little quiet - hard to hear the person calling - even with the volume on full. I wish I had bought a less complicated phone.
Answering Function Does Not Work.......2006-08-22
As previous reviewer described the answering machine function simply does not work. It either answers and then hangs up, or just keeps ringing. The only option is to ship the phone back and wait up to six weeks for a replacement, sounds as those the replacement might not work either! Try another product!
Product Description
With this GE telephone, you can choose between using the 2.4 GHz Cordless Telephone or a Corded Speakerphone. The 2.4 GHz technology provides cordless convenience with clear reception and excellent range. If you've got your hands full, the Full Performance Speakerphone is the perfect solution! Speakerphone features the ability to dial out of the memory (without picking up the handset) and auto transfer to the handset. For even more convenience, GE has included Call-Waiting Caller ID on both the base and the handset and a Digital Messaging System. The manner in which you choose to talk on the phone is up to you; GE has just made sure it is as convenient as possible.
Customer Reviews:
Functional.......2007-12-19
Corded with cordless is a good concept.
The cordless handset is difficult to keep a charge, even after draining and recharging to full several times and trying replacing the battery.
You can't change the number of rings the answering machine picks up after, which is permanently set to only 3. So if you don't pick up a phone after 2 rings, you'll be talking over the outgoing message and your conversation will be recorded.
Volume on the main unit is very low at maximum setting when trying to listen to messages, yet the beep on every button press is overpowering.
BTW, there IS a red flashing light that tells you when you have a voice message, and I tested and determined that voice messages are still kept after a brief power outage.
Overall, the phone is functional, but there must be better options out there.
Don't waste your money.......2007-08-20
We've had this phone for a year and a half or so, and can't wait to replace it. Cordless phone seems to work ok, but the corded handset on the base unit is worthless. The speaker on the handset earpiece is very hard to hear and gets a lot of feedback (?) from the mic. The only way we can hear the person on the other end of the line is to put our finger over the mic when we're not talking, which is very inconvenient. Also, the volume on the answering machine is horrible, even when at it's maximum setting. I'm ready to toss this unit in the garbage.
Excellent sound quality with headset.......2007-04-29
I've owned this model for 2 or 3 years. I work at home and need a cordless handset with a headset so I can walk around "hands free" or work on the computer while I talk. This phone has excellent sound quality with the headset. Plenty of volume and clarity, which is important to me because I have partial hearing loss. Before I bought this model, I bought and returned a higher-rated model because the sound quality on the headset was so poor.
I recently developed the "sticky button" problem on the handset as described by others here. This was so annoying I decided to replace the unit with a nice, highly-rated GE 5.8 GHz unit with two handsets. The sound quality over the headset was terrible. Switching to another brand of headset made no difference so I returned the unit and set up the old one again.
Another reviewer here said it was "easy" to take apart the handset and clean the number pad and circuit board. Don't believe him, it ain't easy. I tried. After removing six tiny screws, I couldn't get the circuit board to come apart, but I could lift it up enough to create enough space to blow air on the number pad and board. That seems to have helped somewhat.
In summary, if using a headset is important to you, this model can't be beat. If the "sticky button" problem comes back, I'll definitely buy the same model again.
Not a great buy.......2007-04-14
The corded phone works fine but we have had nothing but trouble with the cordless handset. The battery dies constantly and won't hold a charge. And as other reviewers have mentioned, the numbers on the keypad stick so that that number dials two to three times. Forget making a long distance call. Definitely do not recommend, I am only giving it 2 stars because the corded phone and answering machine work fine.
Excellent Product.......2006-08-12
Bought this 2 phone system for my service center and it has serviced me well for 3 years now. Would recommend it to anyone needing so many features in a small package.

Good except for annoying echo.......2003-11-16
This phone has a fatal flaw. When you talk even a bit loudly you hear a distorted echo of your own voice. This is so annoying that I had to return this phone. Another negative is that none of three headsets that I tried worked well with this phone. These problems are unfortunate since most other aspects of this product were quite good.
Phone Only OK.......2003-11-10
I have owned this phone for about a month. Lots of nice features. However, the phone has started to cause a lot of static and cuts in and out occasionally. I would not recommend as an office phone.
Good low-end phone.......2003-10-21
Overall satisfied with the phone. Best speakerphone at this price-point that I've seen. Decent feature-set for my needs. Biggest complaint is that the mute button "beeps" whenever you go on/off mute. I do conference calls extensively and company etiquette proscribes hitting a number when you want to say something. Many times when I go on/off mute the facilitator asks if someone wants to say something (AT&T says I cannot disable the beep). LCD user-interface a little cludgy, otherwise fine. Wish it had more speed dials; but they are very easy to program. Pressing the numbers takes a little getting used to (they're concave; convex is easier to me). Callers tell me I'm faint when using the headset (not supplied), speakerphone is fine.
Great home office phone for the price.......2003-04-15
I was looking for a phone for my home office. Needed to look nice and something under $200. I was going to go with the Polycom, but it received many poor reviews. I decided to give the AT&T a shot.
First of all, it looks great sitting on the desk. It's well built and has a good weight to it. It won't come sliding across the desk when you pull the handset. The caller ID feature works perfectly with call waiting and is invaluable to me. The display is excellent - large, very readable and very intuitive. Buttons are of good quality and surprisingly well-placed. After using the phone for a day, I felt like I had been using it a year.
The speakerphone is of decent quality, but like most other speakerphones, it's best for listening in on a conference call or sitting on hold. The headphone port and button are wonderful and work quite well. The quality while using the handset is also good. I have almost zero complaints with this phone.
What a dissapointment!.......2003-04-10
I purchased this telephone based on the features, and the name (AT&T). There was a time when you could buy any AT&T phone and be assurred of it's quality. Not any more! The hand set gives an echo to every word I speak, making it very unpleasant to use. People on the other end tell me I come across fine, but hearing your own words reverberating in your ears while speaking is very bad indeed. I'm returning this product. Save yourself the return trip to the store, or return postage, and buy something else.

Customer Reviews:
JUNK!.......2007-10-21
This phone started off good, but the quality seemed to go downhill with continued use. After about a year, the handset hang-up button failed causing the phone to be "off the hook" every time you would hang up. The speakerphone part didn't work very well either. Pass on this phone.
Speakerphone did not work........2007-08-08
The Speaker on this phone did not work for me. I was told by the receiving end that I sounded like I was speaking underwater or that I sounded very far away when speaking on the speaker. I was sent two telephones by this company. I had requested that they not send me another phone. I still had one delivered against my request. Both of the telephones did not work for me due to the defective speaker. I was credited back the amount due, less shipping in handling for the first telephone. In my opinion this was not right due to the phone being defective.
OK...For the price.......2007-07-22
I have had this phone for about 18 months. Perfect until about 9 months into it, then the caller ID display started disappearing. I changed the batteries numerous times to no avail. Now the Display is totally Gone. I have no Idea who is calling.
PERFECT PHONE.......2007-06-27
You need at least one corded phone in case there is an electricity outage. And this one is both modern and has great and easy to use features. I am totally satisfied.
outstanding.......2007-05-13
This phone is everything that I excepted. It has great clarity and phone quality. I really like this phone and would recommend this phone to everyone.

2 LINE SPEAKER PHONE.......2007-12-26
THE PHONE WORKS ABOUT AVERAGE EXCEPT FOR THE CALLER ID FEATURE WHICH IS PRACTICALLY USELESS. THE SCREEN ON WHICH THE NAME AND NUMBER OF THE CALLER IS DISPLAYED IS VERY SMALL AS IS THE PRINTING AND WHEN THE PHONE IS HUNG ON THE WALL IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO READ ANYTHING ON THE SCREEN WITHOUT BENDING DOWN ABOUT 12 INCHES BELOW THE PHONE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PHONE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE CALLER ID.
