To transfer information to or from the WS-100 from a PC or Mac, all you need to do is remove one end of the recorder's body, which reveals a male USB plug. This USB Direct design eliminates the need for a USB cable (the male plug connects directly to your computer), making the device even more portable. Once connected, it's easy to download images, documents, and other files.

Every bit as important are the playback functions, which include fast (50 percent) and slow (25 percent) playback. And should you need to identify and quickly retrieve important sound bites, all you need to do is insert an index mark and refer to it later. Additional features include adjustable microphone sensitivity, which lets you adjust the recording level to meet your needs; an easy-to-read LCD display; the ability to erase single or entire files; and a pair of stereo earphones.

First, let me say the speaker is not for listening in a crowded room. It's small and why would you want to listen, without earphones, to something this small in loud surroundings? The speaker is fine in a quiet room.

I found the mic to be amazingly sensitive. I use the lo setting. The hi setting picks up everything. I have used it outside in my hand, inside my shirt pocket and indoors in my hand and it is simply great for recording.

I love the usb capability. That makes it so simple to grab the file and pull it onto my Mac. I use "Switch" to make the file an .mp3 file. I then load it into garageband and edit it for my podcast. I am very pleased with it.

I have recorded over an hours worth of audio at the High Quality setting and the battery is still showing full. I love this little guy. I got a refurbished one and it's great. Should have bought this a long time ago.

I will place it on the pulpit and use it to record my sermons and then upload them to our podcast. The quality is THAT good.

I recently bought the Olympus WS-100 to record notes while I was learning a foreign language. While I listen to CD's I wanted an easy way to record new phrases and words to review later.

The WS-100 is working out great. First, the features:

1. The unit records in high quality, standard quality and long play modes. You can get approx. 4, 8 or 27 hours of recording. I have found the standard quality to be the best compromise. While the longer record mode can be usable, the quality really drops here. I can't imagine using that mode for lectures. It's just about usable dictating right into the microphone.

2. The built in speaker is about what you would expect. Not great, but works ok if you recorded in one of the two better modes. It's a little more difficult with the low quality mode though.

3. The built in USB adapter is great. I plug into a Mac running OS X and it mounts just like a flash drive. The files are WMA though so you can't play with iTunes. You will need Windows media player or flip4mac. If you're running Windows, you will have the windows media player so you should be able to play.

4. The unit has a clock which will time stamp the files, however, you can't see the time information on the unit itself for your recordings. I have gotten in the habit of starting a recording with the date/time. Not a big deal, but it would nice if you could display this on the screen since the information is there.

5. You can't moves files between the 5 folders.

6. The quality using headphones is very good. If you use the low quality mode, it makes the recording much more usable than using the built in speaker. Keep in mind, this is not a stereo unit, although Olympus makes them.

7. I'm still on the first AAA battery after a week so I can't comment on battery life, but the reported 13 hours seems reasonable. Buy a couple NiMH batteries and you should be good.

8. There is no alarm features like some units have. I don't think I would ever use this but it's not an option.

9. The unit is very slim and easy to use. I have fairly large hands but I don't have a problem with the little buttons. I like the record button right on top. It's easy to grab and hit record even if you are in the car since you don't have to take your eyes off the road. You can then hit it again to pause or start the recording so the unit does not distract you.

Overall, a very nice recorder. I actually bought a refurb unit for about $20 less and it works great.

This easy to use recorder is fantastic if you're like me and wish you could replay a conversation.Sound quality is pretty good,at least through headphones-the built-in speaker is useless.Great if you have a PC-you can burn your recording to a CD(I don't know about Macs-maybe Windows for MAC would allow you to do the same).Takes so little energy,I've recorded half a dozen hour-long sessions and the battery indicator still shows full.Nice little piece of equipment!

Could you repeat that? That is all I hear when I am on this thing. I have to talk in my teacher voice (extra loud) so the person on the other end can hear me. I figured out the the problem is that the ear bud does not fit in my ear properly. I have to use the included ear gel to make it halfway fit but the I cannot hear the person on the other end either. I must admit that the lights on this ear piece are pretty. I am going to give this ear piece away and purchase another IOGEAR Bluetooth Wireless Headset.

The BlueAnt X3 Micro has bad reception and range. I cannot put my phone in my pocket while using the headset, and my wife cannot put her phone in her purse and use it...there is far too much static, pops, etc... The X3 disconnects when I turn my head away from my phone. People I speak to using the X3 complain they cannot make out what I am saying, that the reception is full of static, and that it cuts in and out. The charging solutions for this device are great, but the bottom line is that the X3 does not deliver well on what it was designed to do.

I have had this device for about a week now and i am a little disappointed. It doesn't fit well on my ears however that could be due to my ears being smaller than Normal. Also everyone has a hard time hearing me. They either say that i am muffled or to quiet even when i am talking loud. Its a decent product and seems durable but i own a business and need people to hear me when im talking. It cam with a car charger, wall charger and a number of ear muffs and ear holsters.I dont care about the blue light but would rather not have it.

It's about the size of a 2.5 inch western digital passport II. Very small and compact. Gets a little hot but does the job. It can power my laptop just fine.

checked its output. It is a 60Hz square wave generator. That is what they called "modified sinewave". Very low tech. However, looks great, space saving and use it once for cell phone fine, but have not check with high power yet

After reading other people's reviews about the product, I was a little worried. I bought the product and it works great!!! No problems so far. I love the small size. It fits in my small backpack. I'm not sure why people complain about the noise. I held it up to my ear and all I heard was a small hum. Maybe that's what they're complaining about? Its not that bad. If space is an issue for you, I would consider this item. Similar sized items are more expensive and they do the same thing.

i didn't get to use this product because i never recieved it in time for the deadline needed. the return policy is horrible and they charge a restocking fee (even though my item was unopened) so don't buy anything unless you are absolutely sure you need the exact item.

Quiet, small inverter.......2007-09-14

Just got it yesterday and used it today for my laptop. It works flawlessly. Some notes on the item: (i) It runs a little bit hot, but not to a point where you cannot hold it. The fan never turn on with my laptop 90W adapter attached and charging my laptop. (ii) The rating is 175W peak, 130W continuous. It didn't say so in the specification. Not a big deal since my car can supply 120W only. (iii) The blue LED is nice but a little bit weak. Should have a brighter LED in place. Am I picky on this? On my car the ciger plug does not "lock" properly, so it may get loose and not working. A brighter LED will help finding this out WHILE I am driving. (iv) The inverter is really small at around the size of a 2.5" hard disk, but of course thicker. (v) No, there is no air plug, at least "not any more". It comes with a ciger plug and a clamp core (like those jump start cable) now. Hope these information helps any one who is looking for an inverter.

This item works as described. It is well made, looks good and doesn't feel cheap. It has a long cord that will come in handy for the car sockets in hard to reach places. I use this to run my computer in the car and it works great. There are so many of these type of adaptors on the market but this is a good one.

Xantrex 100-Watt Inverter.......2007-11-07

The inverter works great. It produces quite a bit of heat but this does not seem to effect the performance. It's also small and light weight so it's great for traveling. I will use it on a trip to Germany over Christmas so we'll see how it does then but no complaints so far. I have it for my 13in MacBook.

This is a slick, useful product that does just what it says it will do. I used to work at Radioshack, and we sold a lot of these, and they were hardly ever returned, so I got one for myself. I use it to charge my cellphone (with the house charger) and my laptop while I'm traveling. It is much more quiet than other inverters, has a big, blue indicator light to show when it is working, and is slim enough to slip under a seat, or even between the center console and a seat (where I have mine). It says "100 watts", but that is only the peak output. Continuous output is only 80 watts, so be sure to check that what you are using it for is 80 or less. It is great for battery charging, but don't even think of running a vacuum or a power tool, that isn't what it is intended for.

I no longer use my 12 volt power adapter for my laptops since I purchased the Xantrex. This is perfect to carry on any trip where you will need power in a vehicle for any 110 volt electronic device or USB device. I like it so much I have been buying them as gifts for my friends. It works all right, but at the time you install it in your pc is really difficult because the instructions are not enough clear. I had a problem with de COM port, and I took me all day long to find out what to do.

The TRENDnet bluetooth adapter installs easily and has a nice interface for connecting your bluetooth devices. I use it for downloading pictures from our camera phone -- the process is simple and efficient. I quickly have the photos moved to the directory I want on the computer.

I installed the CD, put the adapter in and - it worked! In this day in age when install processes always seem to have a catch - it's nice when something work. I'm using this to sync up my Palm TX and it works fine, slower than using the cable, but works fine.

The only issue I've encountered so far for this product is that the adapter is not yet compatible with Windows Vista. I'm sure it is a great product but have yet to use it because I'm waiting for TrendNet to release a driver for Vista.

If you have a USB device that needs charging, this is the unit you need. I have two different MP3 players. Both come with USB plugs to transfer MP3 files and for charging. That same cable can be used with this unit. Great solution.

This is a handy little cable allows you to charge your Plantronics headset with your computer's USB port, saving the space the A/C adapter would usually take up in your laptop case. It also saves you from hunting for a wall outlet if you're tapped out.

It's so much easier to carry a cable vs another mini brick for every device you need to charge in your laptop bag. All devices should standardize on USB power with a mini B connector. I'd give this item 5 stars if Plantronics took their products one step further and standardized to mini B connectors on their devices.

When I travel, I use USB as a universal power source. Then I use either my laptop or a USB brick (i.e. iPod charger) to charge each device I bring along.

This works perfectly; no complaints.

I purchased this item, wondering if it would really work for the price, since the usb cable alone was worth the purchase price. The software was easy to download and use, if you read the help section before trying to use it. Works Better than expected. Can't beat this item for what it does at this price. Motorola provides updates for the software.

The service was prompt but the product will not work on my phone. Apparently Verizon blocks the product from working on their phones. I tried downloading an file to unlock it, but still had no success. Good thing it only cost $1.99. Not the seller's fault, Verizon is to blame on this one.

the disk would not load on any of the computers i tried it on, if not for the usb cable it would have been a complete waste of money.
