poor sound quality.......2007-12-10
HAd the phone for 2 weeks prior to returning it. Worked as advertized, but the past reviewer who commented on the loud tone of your own voice was right on. When you speak into the phone, your voice shouts into your ear. The only way to comfortably speak into the phone was to hold the mouthpiece well away from your mouth. Also lacks a speakerphone (which many in this price range have).
great phone great price.......2007-12-01
This is a great set for under $40 shipped. The sound quality is great, the phones are sleek looking, and the caller ID screens are definitely a plus. We're extremely pleased with our purchase and will be using these phones for some time to come.
LOW END.......2007-11-30
THIS PHONE HAS BASIC FEATURES AND IS WORTH THE MONEY. BUT I HAVE PROBLEMS "LOSING" MESSAGES. LETS SAY YOU ARE SCREENING YOUR CALLS AND YOU HEAR YOUR FRIEND LEAVE A MESSAGE, THE LED SAYS 1 MESSAGE, YOU PUSH PLAY AND YOU GET TO HEAR A MESSAGE FROM SOMEONE WHO HAD CALLED EARLIER. NOW YOU WAIT, YOU RECEIVE A NEW CALL AND THEY LEAVE A MESSAGE, BUT WHEN YOU PUSH PLAY, YOU GET TO HEAR THE PREVIOUS MESSAGE YOUR FRIEND LEFT. LOL I CALLED AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMETIMES THE DIGITAL RECORDER NEEDS TO BE RESET, SO YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG AND RE-PLUG YOUR PHONE. THIS IS ONLY 3 WEEKS OLD....

Would not buy this phone again, reception is poor and overall quality is
not very good
Hello!.......2007-10-17
I have been a fan of Motorola for years. I liked the look of this and the price was right on for what you get. My only complaint is the address book only holds 10 phone numbers. The hand set holds another 10 so you've got 20 total if you can remember which phone has which numbers. Other than that it performs well with the other features. The ring is somewhat annoying but it does get your attention. Luckily I have a cell phone(Motorola) with all the numbers I need.

Customer Reviews:
Solid phone with some great features.......2007-09-11
This is a terrific cordless system, with good sound and no interference noise or issues (even in the same room with my wireless router), excellent range, and long battery life. The answering machine, with 3 separate mailboxes and 2 available outgoing messages you can switch back and forth between, is feature packed for a system as value-priced as this one. The best feature of all, especially in an expandable system, is the Do Not Disturb button on the base -- one push and every handset is automatically silenced! Fabulous for use in a home office environment.
I'd give it 5 stars, but the handset itself is a little awkwardly shaped around the speaker, belling out and making it almost impossible to hold snugly against your ear if you're trying to hear better. It isn't always a problem, but if you're talking to someone who's rather quiet and have a lot of background noise on your end that you're trying to overcome (kids, dogs, life in general) it can quickly become uncomfortable forcing the handset speaker up against the side of your head! Of course, then the hands-free speakerphone or headset jack come in quite handy as options.
All in all, an exceptionally worthwhile purchase.
NICE PHONE, POOR ADVERTISING.......2007-09-05
You do not get what is pictured in the ad. You only get 2 phones total. The ad shows 3 phones and I thought that was what I was getting. I am disappointed.
Great phone, not so great battery.......2007-08-09
I love this phone! It has every feature I wanted, and it works great. Don't be fooled by the three handsets in the picture, this model only comes with two (which was fine by me). My only complaint is that one of the batteries in the main handset is bad and the handset will die after about a half hour of being off the dock. I'm going to call the company and have it replaced. Other than that, GREAT PHONE!
Good phone bad advertising.......2007-04-28
The phone is excellent so far. It was everything I thought it would be. What I didn't like is that it shows 3 phones in the ad but they only send you 2. To me this is false advertising. They should show actually what you would be getting.

Customer Reviews:
Avoid this phone!.......2007-09-21
We purchased this phone a few months ago, and it has been nothing but trouble. It is made of cheap plastic, the reception is terrible, and the functionality is extremely limited. Some features make no sense, like the fact that the message voice will tell you the time of day and the year (!) someone called, but not the date of the call. Real junk, you can get better phones for less money--avoid this!
Clear reception, works well.......2007-05-20
I have the 4-phone version of this (E5947B), purchased on sale at Best Buy for about 50% more than Amazon's 2-phone offering.
I've had it for 6 months. Everyone is happy with it. The voice quality is very good, and no reception problems in our wireless LAN equipped home.
The intercom feature is quite useful if you have 4 people in a large home. It's easy to transfer or forward calls to another extension.
Minor drawbacks are as follows:
1. The wall-plug transformers run a little hot, even if the phone is charged and even if the phone is out of the cradle. 4 of these running 365x24 will add to your electric bill. Sad that AT&T does not bother with energy-smart charging.
2. If your hands are full, you can't wedge the phone between your chin and neck. You'll probably pinch the "Off" button and disconnect.
3. The quality of the recorded messages is fairly bad. No excuse for this.
4. Phone supports caller ID. If you don't have caller ID, you will find 2 minor annoyances: The phone does not auto-answer when it's ringing and you take it off the cradle. Also, if the main base unit loses power, it loses track of time. You have to reset the clock. Very feeble. If you use caller ID it automatically sets (or resets) the time.
Overall, we are happy with it. Don't know if there is 5-star product out there.
Problem prone unit.......2007-01-04
Am pleased with unit in most respects except erratic performance. Features are good, but dialing using the stored numbers bring this unit to the edge of unacceptability. It often requires 2 or more dialing attempts and sometimes connects with no audio reception---while the person called can hear everything including a few unsavory comments concerning the unit. The troubleshooting portion of the manual is an insight to the inherent problems and making it clear that returning it for repair would be useless. Following troubleshooting instructions provided no relief. I would return this unit for a refund if possible though. I fully expect to have to replace this unit in the near future.
Disappointing quality.......2006-08-21
I bought this last week and will be returning it today. While I can usually hear phone conversations OK, the quality of the voice is not very good - usually has some static. The user manual is incomplete and confusing (for example, blinking codes on base display are not explained; words printed on the phone parts are not in the index - the user manual uses different words for the same parts!), editing caller id info in the user directory does not update the corresponding info in the caller id list (phones from Panasonic and Sony do this correctly - AT&T does not). If you want to buy a quality 5.8 GHz phone, try any other brand. AT&T goofed on the quality and design of this one!

Buyer beware with this phone.......2007-07-26
I have had SEVERAL cordless phones in the past, very few lasting any length of time. The last V-tech I had was AWESOME. Not wanting to spend a large amount of money I opted for this phone. HUGE mistake. The answering machine is awful - either cutting messages off or garbling them so as not to understand a word of it. The handsets are full of static - my callers always indicate that I am fading out so I am constantly repeating things to them. Very Annoying. I have had the phone for about 3 months and am going out tomorrow to replace it with a V-Tech product. Please be careful when purchasing this item.
Great sound quality -- well regarded by the Consumer Reports.......2007-05-17
I consulted the Consumer Reports before purchasing this phone because I have had wireless phones in the past that were just awful. This phone was reported to have great sound quality and was easy to use -- both things I have found to be true. Another reason I chose this phone was because the frequency did not interfere with my Apple Airport Expess wireless device.
This phone does not have a speaker button on the handset so if this is important to you may have to look elsewhere.

using with digital phone/voip.......2007-11-20
We got this phone for free with sunrocket (voip service) and have had it for about 2 years now. It is a great phone and we're really happy with it. It doesn't interfere with our wifi connection, and it has a decent talk time. We're using it with digital phone (through AT&T) and it is still going strong. Functional and practical!
Speaker phone was not loud enough.......2007-08-28
I returned this item about 30 minutes after purchasing it. I thought that the speaker phone was not loud enough. I really could not hear much unless I was a foot away from the phone. Also, the answering machine does not have a delete key. This probably is not an issue, as there is probably a way to delete the messages. I think the VTech phone that sells for 80 has a much louder and clearer speaker phone.
SHOCKINGLY TERRIBLE.......2007-06-06
When you spend this much money on a "high tech" phone from a "reputable" big corp, you at least expect the phone to work adequately. This phone is SO bad
in every way. Muddy sound, horrible range, static, poor battery life. Just SHOCKINGLY TERRIBLE. Run...dont walk...away from this phone. The "EDGE" version of this phone is EVEN WORSE.
Excellent clarity, good value, doesn't interfere w wireless network.......2007-05-02
I bought three sets of these phones, one for myself and two for other people. The clarity is excellent and there is no inteference with my wireless network.
These phone are attractive, light weight and easy to use. The buttons have large numbers and they are spaced out enough that you won't "fat finger" the wrong numbers. The menu system is also intelligently designed and easy to use.
In general, I have always been happy with GE phones. My last phone was a GE and it lasted for years. Similarly, at the time it was also a good value for the money. However, I noticed a big difference in clarity when I replaced it with this.
worst ever.......2007-04-18
This is the worst phone I have EVER owned. The reception was so bad no one on the other end could hear me talking unless I held very still and tried not to breathe. Not worth the money we saved, took it back and got a Uniden 5.8, and it rocks!!

Customer Reviews:
Frustrating experience.......2007-06-06
I switched to these 5.8 phones when we moved into a larger home. We would get interference between the phones, the wireless network, and the wireless intercom system. I have had nothing but problems with them.
1) The buttons don't press! You will, for example, press the number 7, it will register on the phone's LED screen as a number that you pressed, but it will sometimes NOT ACTUALLY dial that number. So if you dial 555-1212, often, you may have only really dialed 55112. Frustrating.
2) Secondly, the speaker phone function is difficult to use. You dial your number, (if you can miraculously get all 7 numbers to register),then switch to speaker phone. You hear your caller through the speaker. It's time to pick up the handset and listen. So you hit speaker again? Nope! It's disconnected. (Then you have to try to dial again...Uggggh!) You have to go back to talk to get to the handset. Then talk again to disconnect. Uer error, I know. But after 6 months, I still forget that function.
3) Handsets and bases.... You need to program each handset to the proper base, and mark them. So your kitchen base will only work with the kitchen handset you originally registered it to. The family room handset can not be charged on the kitchen base. If you mix them up, the handsets malfunction.
4) Ergonomics. I don't have chubby cheeks, but still manage to hang up on my callers when my cheek inadvertantly touches the talk button. (Then I have to try to dial again....frustrating!)
5) Sound quality is poor. Static is present no matter where I sit, stand or position myself in relationship to the base.
Giving up on this system today and finding a better one!
Very Clear.......2007-05-12
This phone has very good reception. I would suggest buying this phone the second handset is a plus. I have one in my bedrood and the second handset in my guest room.
fading phone conversations.......2007-04-03
This phone system was easy to set up, and we liked the physical aspects of the phone, especially the small footprint. Upon use, however, we found that the phones would fade, and eventually drop calls. This issue was not a distance or interference issue, as the dropped calls would occur with the handset in the same room of our residence as the base station. This happened on several occasions, with either handset. We returned the phone system and went with another manufacturer, and as a result, we don't know if this was anamolous behavior, or if it is a common problem with this phone.
GE Edge Cordless phones okay for the price, I guess........2007-02-02
I was disappointed to find that both phones can't be used at the same time as with a real extension. So both you and the wife can't be on the phone at the same time talking to Dad - one has to hang up for the other to get on. Also, they seem to lose their ability to recognize the system, and have to be re- set - a simple process but annoying to have to do more than once. And they are cheaply constructed. But they work - so I guess I can't really complain too much considering the price.
Speakerphone, what a JOKE!.......2007-01-19
I bought this phone really for it's speakerphone capability, or lack thereof I have come to realize, and will be returning it as soon as I get another one to replace it. The reception for the handset is also sub par. I'm quite shock because GE is known for making pretty reliable phones.

Customer Reviews:
Basic features simply don't work.......2007-09-22
Not very good sound quality. The worst thing about it is you cannot dial from the Caller ID or use the redial button. The numbers simply dial too fast(and it's not really that fast actually) and the call never goes through. It always misses a couple of the numbers. This is annoying because you have to look at the caller ID on one phone, and very slowly dial the number on the other phone! This also doesn't work that great if you have fast typing hands. I've typed in several numbers at what is normal speed for me, and the phone missdials and misses numbers. Wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone. If you have this phone, 1 number press per second seems to work.
Great for the price.......2007-05-12
Purchased for another family member. They are pleased with the phone and especially having two handsets.
Not exactly a bargain.......2007-04-25
The style of the answering machine and additional units are nice and they don't take up a lot of room. The buttons do not feel cheap like many other brands either. Two issues though. If you pre-dial a number or use the speed dial option, when you hit the phone(connect)button you are lucky if the call goes through. This is probably because it only gives short tone burst that are not long enough to be recognized. The second issue is that there is no battery backup if power goes out. You lose your messages and configurations on the main base.
AT & T cordless review.......2007-03-26
After reading glowing reviews in Consumer Reports I thought I'd love this phone. It works fine, but lacks features in my prior AT & T phone, such as deleting your in-box with one button, instead of one at a time; the outgoing pulse signal is tedious and slow and the ring tones ALL suck. For the price it does what it needs to, so I'll not quibble.
Telephone answering system.......2007-03-11
Excellent product, arrived fast. Just what I needed. This is a great product.

Trust the Seller and buy the product, if anything goes wrong he will refund your full amount!!
Uniden DXAI4288-2.......2007-09-24
Purchased this item after long and satisfactory experience with Uniden products. Good functions and easy to use, but very noisy and poor reception. Not recommended.
Can you go lower than 1 star?.......2007-05-15
This has the WORSE reception of any phone I've ever had and that includes a $5 stationary dial phone! It's cheap plastic and for the price, not worth it! I already have a Uniden that has lasted and done well for quite awhile, but this one is junk. The "second" phone is pointless. Transferring a call from one to the other is a waste of time. I took it back after 3 days and bought an ATT!
TRASH.......2006-09-14
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE BOUGHT ONE FOR MY MOM AND ONE FOR ME. THE RECEPTION IS HORRIBLE AND ALL I CAN HEAR IS STATIC SAME WITH HERS!!!!!
Great Phone for the price!.......2006-05-29
I was skeptical at first because of the cheapy plastic feel to this phone but have had it for a little over a month now and LOVE this phone! I have had NO problems with anything. I get pretty decent range (walking around outside and down the driveway) without ANY reception problems (although I've heard it's not good if you have a WIRELESS INTERNET connection, but I don't, so no problems for me!!), the volume level is perfect (and adjustable from low, med, high), the answering machine works great and the dual handsets was my MAIN REASON for purchasing this. - If you have Voice Over Internet Protocol (or VOIP), such as Vonage, you NEED a phone like this!! You can plug in the main unit to your voip/broadband modem and plug the other set (the power) anywhere in the house( No PHONE JACK required!!) ! When the phone rings you can answer either set. When you need to make a call, you can use EITHER HANDSET! That was the purpose of this design (not to have more than one person chatting on the phone at the same time) and it works great!! A MUST HAVE for VOIP (so you don't have to get another line!)
All in all, for the price and all the features you get I think it's a great little phone!
Amazon.com Product Description
Ever feel like you need a second phone but don't want to install another jack? The remanufactured KX-TG2357B from Panasonic offers an ideal solution, as it's packaged with a second handset and charging cradle. Fortunately for users, it also comes with a variety of other valuable features, including a built-in answering system and Talking Caller ID, so you can consolidate all your communications needs in a single easy-to-use machine.
To ensure a nearly interference-free connection, the phone employs a 2.4 GHz signal, which eliminates the hiss and fuzziness suffered by most analog signals. Reception is further improved by Panasonic's Voice Enhancer technology, which helps clarify and improve reception by producing an easy-to-hear, natural-sounding voice, making the unit sound crisp and intelligible even at a distance.
The all-digital answering machine has a 15-minute maximum recording time and can be operated remotely, allowing you to stay on top of your incoming messages even while you're away from home. An LCD call counter lets you know how many messages you have waiting, and a time/date stamp tells you when each message was received. Additionally, all messages are stored in flash memory, so if you ever experience a power outage, your messages will be there when you get back up and running.
Caller ID fans will delight in the Talking Caller ID function (subscription required), which audibly announces the name and number that's calling so you won't have to hunt for the handset unless the call is important. It's a must for busy users who don't have time to deal with distracting calls while working or doing household chores. The caller ID function also remembers the last 50 names and numbers that called.
The KX-TG2357B also offers handset and base speakerphones along with headset compatibility (headset not included) to ensure several hands-free communication methods. Other features include adjustable handset and ringer volumes; illuminated keypads for dialing in poorly lit environments; a page button on the base for finding lost handsets; an intercom/page function that lets you communicate with other phones in the system; and a 30-number phone directory that keeps track of your important phone numbers. Plus, thanks to the display-and-dial feature, you can scroll through either the phone directory or the caller ID list and dial the selected number simply by pressing talk.
The KX-TG2357B's base unit, which is wall-mountable, measures 6.88 by 3.34 by 7.88 inches (W x H x D), while the handsets check in at 2.06 by 8.19 by 1.53 inches. The phone is backed by a 90-day warranty.

Functioning at a quiet, nearly interference-free 5.8 GHz, the two handsets use digital spread spectrum transmission for exceptional range and minimal static. The three-line handset LCDs work in conjunction with caller ID services, storing 100 names and numbers in addition to the speed-dial presets.
The dual speakerphones (both on the handsets and base) let you talk hands-free or get the whole family in on the conversation. The phone also features an integrated digital answering machine with all the features you'd expect, like remote message check. And yes, the phone does feature the basics, like flash, pause, hold, and redial with memory storage of the last three numbers dialed. In addition, you can dial either from the handsets or from the base. Note that this phone is not expandable beyond the two included handsets and chargers. Customer Reviews:
5.8 is not the same as 2.4.......2006-05-06
A previous reviewer (Murphy) misunderstood what the difference between 5.8 and 2.4 is in these phones. He said "The range on this phone is SUPPOSED to be more than TWICE that of a 2.4Gz phone. "
If he would have called Uniden, Panasonic, Sony, etc, they would have told him that the range for a 5.8 phone is actually supposed to be LESS than 2.4 but A MUCH CLEARER CALL and MORE SECURE.
I tested this with 2 phones each from Panasonic, and Uniden (2.4 and 5.8) and compared them also to my old 900Mhz Sony and 900Mhz Uniden. The 2.4Mhz phones had the best distance and the 5.8Mhz had the best quality sound.
Best Phone Yet.......2005-08-23
This phone promises alot. And it delivers! Sound of the answering system is clean and clear. Just read the product info-yeah it does all that! The amazon price with super saver matched ebay so why not buy it new in the box?
Had it one year and audio cuts out -- no help from Uniden!.......2004-09-22
I've had this expensive system for one year and it is currently not functional. The audio cuts out randomly -- you can sometimes hear very faintly, but usually, not at all. I changed batteries, but the problem is now worse. The "help" offered by Uniden was to use only THEIR batteries. SO now I can spend another $30 on more batteries and that doesn't guaruntee that the problem will be solved. Not bloody likely! Crap product, crap service!
Rock solid, crystal clear, great features (READ MANUAL!).......2004-07-09
This is a really good phone that's taken a lot of drops and keeps on ticking. It's solidly constructed, well-engineered, and built much better than the GE/Motorola disposable phones. Plus, it looks a heck of a lot better than the other phones. I've had this since it first came out, and there's been no problems despite the accidental drops or what have you of daily heavy usage. The built-in speakerphone on each handset continues to be a stunning feature. Also, the battery life is ridiculously long, and this makes up for the lack of a battery meter. Think of this phone as a Toyota and the others as GM. Which would you trust if they made your life support systems? Enough said.
The only thing that could have been improved upon:
-Expandability of handsets limited (not really a problem for most).
-There is no instant synchronization of stored numbers from one phone to the other (something I miss about my old Sony phone).
-As mentioned before, the only warning of a low battery is an audible alert/led msg (while you are using it) that the battery is low. From that point on, you only have about a minute or so of talk time left.
Like anything in life, you get what you put into it. Read the manual. Learn what this phone allows you to do. Despite a previous poster's comments, this phone easily allows you to toggle on/off the 1- (by pressing *) and the area code (by pressing #) of your caller ID listings. It's in the manual, if the previous poster had actually bothered to read it before posting his mental spasms (a priceless moment).
There is a newer model out (TRU8885-2) that addresses the few shortcomings of this phone and adds some cool new ones like a smaller and better base station, albeit imo it does not look as nice.

disappointed.......2004-07-07
my fiance and I have both had uniden 900 megahertz for almost a decade. When we met, we both had the same phone and continued to use them for five more years! I loved uniden, so I was really excited when this new cool looking phone came out. we waited for the price to drop somewhat and finally bought it. Well, I'm not so impressed. the main thing is that it cuts out or breaks up when i'm in my office. Every phone conversation I have to walk into the living room b/c it gets somewhat better reception out there. it's worse than my cell phone by far. i don't really use the fancy features. answering machine works well, it's very modern looking, but i'm upset every time I have to move around the house to get good reception. I think there have to be better phones out there, esp for the $$$$.
