Be aware of the different models.......2007-12-28
This is an outstanding phone. Very clear. Great features. I purchased for me, my mom and sister. Please be aware of the different models however. The TRU9465 DOES NOT have an answering system, it taps into your local phone company's voice mail box system which is about an extra $5 per month charge. If you want your phone to have the answering system go with the TRU9485.
Good for those coming back to landlines.......2007-12-25
We finally got a landline (my first since college) and we opted for this system after reading reviews and for its selective ringtones. Assigning ringtones to callers (or groups of callers) is a must for anyone use to the same feature on his/her cellphone. Although you are limited to the number and choice of ringtones included on the phone, we have had no problem assigning either individual ringtones to certain contacts or to certain groups (e.g. my friends, wife's friends, etc.).
We have added the yellow water-proof Uniden to the system with no problems.
Phonebook can be copied to all handsets and base, however, ringtones have to be assigned on each phone. So, pick your choices carefully, and just take some time to do so while watching the TV.
Good Price, Great Phones.......2007-12-22
I found these to be much better than the panasonic phones that I had been buying. The menus and buttons are clear and understandable. Nothing dissapointing, which for some products is enough.
Nicely integrated expandable phone system.......2007-12-17
Works well, looks good. I have a total of six phones in this system and haven't had a problem in the 8 mos. that I've had them. The only thing I don't like so far is the small clip that snaps onto the back for carrying the phone hands free, i.e. on a belt. It's too short and doesn't hold it well. The phone easily is displaced from its perch and dropped. I end up putting the phone inside my shirt or in a pocket.
Uniden TRU9485.......2007-12-17
Very pleased with phones ease of use and options. The only problem I have with this phone is it's battery life. I am constantly recharging battery compared to my old Sony cordless. I will try to change the contrast on each phone to see if this helps. I have only owned the phone for 2 months and we will see if the buttons hold up after a year of use.

Minimal OK.......2007-12-29
I's say it's just OK. For the price, $30. But you can probably do better. Main problem is it communicates with you only by voice (I mean settings,etc.). That's mighty peculiar, since it has it's keyboard and enough display space to take input far more conveniently.
To make or change or reset something after a power loss, the voice goes through every setting in a fixed sequence, so you have to listen to all the ones you don't care about and want to leave alone. Then when you do want to change something, like the minutes on the clock, you have to press a key repeatedly to get increments one minute at a time, instead of just keying in a number.
There are two 3-digit codes (Remote Access, Priority Caller) it has to ask you about one digit at a time. Again you increment that digit one press at a time: for the first digit, then for the second digit, and so on.
What takes the cake though, is the strangest time format probably in the world: You set it to this, for instance: Sunday, 10:43 AM, 2007. The day of the week and the year! No Month or Date! There ought to be a quirky prize for that.
junk.......2007-12-29
bought two, both died. poor quality. buttons stick. speakerphone sucks. volume rises and falls making it hard to hear caller on speakerphone and on headset. lcd display is okay in well lit office.
all-in-one telephone.......2007-12-24
This phone is quite nice and reliable. The only thing I miss from my previous phone is the multiple, individual voice mail-boxes.
Other than this one item, I would highly recommend this phone to anyone looking for a voice-mail, answering machine, speaker-phone built into one unit.
just ok.......2007-12-24
easy enough to use and program, this phone is cheap and basic. I really was hoping the speaker phone would work well. The volume is loud and clear so it succeeds on that point. However, if I'm farther than 2 feet from it people complain that i'm quiet and hollow sounding. if you use speaker all the time, look elsewhere.

Thank you for helping me find a good brand name land phone. I have looked everywhere in my City and I come up short everytime. I hope to use this one for a while. If you cannot find it on Amazon.com you can't find it.

Great phone, easy to use, but speaker is not very loud on the other end. You can hear pretty good, but the other caller cannot.
just what we needed.......2007-12-22
I am 46 and in need of reading glasses. The display is large and glasses are not needed for the buttons (which are actually a little oversized) or the display. Speaker option works fine.
GE Bug Button Phone.......2007-12-09
Very nice easy to operate phone, we bought 2 sure makes things a lot more easier having a good working, good sounding phone next to the chair/sofa/tv/computer room/office you spend lots of time.
big button speaker phone.......2007-11-30
My mother is 97.THe big buttons help her call out. The speaker phone allows her to talk on the phone. Serves us very well
simple well done.......2007-11-04
I like the big buttons and the caller id has large display. Easy to use. I do not know about the speed dial buttons seems to me that it is more complicated than it is worth to use. I have two of these phones and I am happy with how they work.

Plus, a duplex speakerphone in the base and a standard speakerphone in the handset provide hands-free conversation options.

Customer Reviews:
Wonderful phone system, especially with a home office.......2007-12-18
We purchased this phone when my wife started working from home and required us to need two phone lines for our house. This expandable system has worked wonderfully, we now have 2 expansion units to go with this base unit, and have had no problems. The speaker phone works well - which my wife uses most of the day for work. We appreciate the voicemail notification light, just have to make sure and check our voicemail to make the light stop blinking at night. The buttons have a nice layout and just have nothing really negative to say about this system. Got the job done nicely for us.
Clear.......2007-11-11
These phones are great. Super easy to set up and work really well in my big apt.
The light up display and MUTE functions are nice so I can see the phone ringing without having to hear it ring.
I can also see if someone is using the other line.
So far so good!
Excellent 2 line cordless speaker phone.......2007-10-26
I don't usually take the time to write a review about a product, but I felt compelled to share my positive experience with this phone.
I work at home and have a business need for a 2 line phone that is cordless and includes a decent speaker phone. I searched for several days before finding the Uniden TRU8866.
I noticed that some people had problems with their phones. I did not encounter any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. Some people complained that there is no answerig machine. I did not expect this feature since there is no mention of an answering machine in the product details or the product manual.
Listed below is my pro and con list after one week of heavy usage.
PROS:
Easy to setup
Easy to use
Many well thought out features
Very clear speaker phone
Great distance with the cordless handset
Excellent backlit screen
Call timer
Clear manual
Redial remembers last few numbers dialed
Does not interfere with my WiFi
Small footprint. Takes little desk space.
CONS:
None (Really)
Summary:
The Uniden TRU8866 is well built and designed. It offers two line capability, speaker phone, cordless handset, and many other useful features that will not interfere with your WiFi network. You will not be sorry with this phone. Just don't expect an answering machine. (LOL)
Good Job.......2007-10-04
Excellent product. Does what it claims to do with exceptional voice clarity for a cordless phone.
Observations Over the First Few Weeks.......2007-09-30
My prior cordless was a VTECH, that lasted for about 4 years, at which point the display became too hard to decipher. I purchased the Uniden for its sleek lines, many features, and brightly lit display.
The speaker phone is superb with excellent voice clarity. The phone illumitates brightly when an incoming call arrives. A mute feature allows one to stop the ringing while the call is coming in, if it is a call you wish not to answer. As a two line phone, you are able to designate which line will be operational when picked up from the handset. The belt clip is really sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break off.
I find the range of distance could use improvement. My old Vtech could get me down to my mailbox, about a 30 second walk away, but the Uniden will drop the call. Another thing I've noticed is that when a voice mail is left for me, the indicator light on the phone should be flashing, but isn't always. Still trying to figure that one out.
Oh yeah, when a call comes in on Caller ID from another area code, it doesn't appear with a 1, which is required where I live. If I want to save it in the phone book, the stored Caller ID number is useless, unless I go in and edit the entire number to include a 1. Its not intuitive, as I've tried a number of times but still haven't been able to add the 1.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the phone, and hope to work out these little bugs in the coming weeks.

AT&T 974 phone.......2007-12-12
I bought 3 of these. I did my homework in reading all the reviews and still chose this phone as it was the only one at a reasonable price that would do what I thought I wanted it to do.
First - The color - "ick" - I guess I thought it meant a *dark* charcoal gray/blue but it is more of a *light* gray/blue. It certainly does not match anything in an office setting, but I'm more concerned with the function than the color.
Second - The function - The handset if comfortable to hold but you need to make sure it is exactly on your ear and mouth or you lose the quality. I like to hold the phone cradled in my neck freeing both hands to work while talking but that isn't possible as you lose the sound quality. I know .. use a headset, but I don't.
I have one in the home office and one in the kitchen. If I answer in the office and someone leaves the office to get the extension in the kitchen, they cannot answer it until you put yours on *hold* or you transfer the call to that extension, the same goes if it is a phone that is "not" a compatible phone. It seems you have to put it on hold in order to release it to someone on another phone.
The intercom feature works good. The third phone is in another building. I can intercom to that extension phone instead of walking across the parking lot and instead of using one line to call another line thus tying up two phone lines. I have not tried the call transfer yet but I assume it works okay.
I checked room monitor just for the fun of it. I don't really need this and it probably could be interpreted as an invasion of privacy. But I can sit in the home office and turn on room monitor in the other building and listen to see if the Employees are playing around instead of working, or if they are "talking about me" ha ha. This feature to me seems to be a waste. I would much rather that AT&T put music on the hold button. I put someone on hold for over a minute just to test the feature. They said it was dead silence while they were on hold. I heard the 30 second reminder beep.
It is unfortunate that there is no compatible cordless phone. When I intercom or transfer a call to the extension in the other building, they have to RUN across the building to answer the call. It would be nice to have a portable to carry to answer the intercom.
I would have given 4 stars for the operation of the system, but I'm giving 3 stars for the no music on hold and no compatible cordless phone for intercom and transfer.
I could not even consider giving 5 stars because of the quality of the handset.
Great Phones.......2007-08-14
These are great phones and easy to setup. Would be good for any small business! I recieved them in a timely fashion and no hassels what so ever.
Small Biz Phone.......2007-08-10
Easy setup and so far so good. Do not forget to buy the 9 volt batteries!
Works fine for us, with one exception.......2007-04-28
We use an AT&T 974 speakerphone in our small business. It works fine for us, and the built-in caller id display is a big help. It will even display incoming caller information when the line is in use, if you have the "caller ID on hold" feature from the phone company.
The only big drawback we've found so far is with the "hold" feature. When you put a call on hold and pick up on another extension which is not one of the compatible AT&T models, the AT&T 974 does not release the line. After the extension is hung up, the AT&T 974 keeps the line on hold for 30 minutes! AT&T says this feature only works properly with other compatible models made by AT&T. It's an inconvenience, to be sure, and for our household, where we have seven phones, a big investment which we haven't been able to justify yet.
Great basic phone.......2007-03-25
I had several Verizon business lines setup with Centrex and this phone allows me to route up to four lines through it, with different settings for each (different rings, or even no rings), it shows caller id data, tracks calls, and has all of the basic features you would want in an office phone (speakerphone, DND, autodial, headset out, etc).
I do not use this in a large environment, so I can't speak to how well it transfers calls or deals with that sort of life - I have a single small office and suits my needs well.
The only thing that I don't like about it is not really a fault of the phone, it is a fault of my own for not looking for a phone with it in the first place - but I want a phone that can talk to my computer. Pass the caller id on to my computer, log, screen, etc - I am in the software business and would like more control over anything in my office.
This phone is basic, but has every feature a small office would need.

Joanne.......2007-12-26
the phone is easy to use, programming was simple, I'm very glad I purchased it
Great, inexpensive 2-line phone.......2007-12-11
I replaced an old AT&T 2-line phone recently with this one. Although it is not a very exciting purchase, it does the job quite well. The sound is good and the caller ID feature works as you would expect it to. I purchased a headset at the same time and use it in the headset jack - sounds great and easy to use.
If I had any criticism, it would be that there is only room for 18 speed dial buttons. If you need more than this, it could be a problem.
AT&T 992 phone.......2007-12-08
I bought two so we would have the same user interface. The user interface is reasonably friendly and the quality of the sound (handset and speaker phone)is good.
It's fine so far. Except!.......2007-12-03
The phones seem to work ok, like others have said, the dialing is a bit slow and all the beeping really sucks (mute, etc.). Would be nice if the back light did not stay on all the time, should just light when there is an incoming or outgoing call. This phone should have some of the features that AT&T's 4 line phones have (hold, paging, etc.) since they seem to not have a 2 line that does this. Speakerphone is pretty much useless in somewhat of a noisy enviroment, because background noise makes the caller cut in and out. For the price, not a bad phone, but could use some more attention by the manufacturer. Oh yeah, I am a bit picky cause I am a phone technician.
Good Quality Phone.......2007-10-29
I've owned this phone for a little over a year now, and found it to be quite good. I primarily use a headset through the 2.5mm jack. The buttons are all layed out quite nicely, large, good feel and easy to press. I like that it has lights for the appropriate things and in the right places (I hate it when phones don't have mute lights). I sometimes press the headset instead of the mute button, but I don't blame the phone for that, I'm just not thinking or paying attention when I do it. The sound quality has been just fine. I use it over VOIP, so I don't expect a lot, but I have never noticed any problems.
I have only found one feature missing from this phone that gets me. I'm used to working on cell phones, and even my cordless has this, where you enter the number, and then press send to dial. This phone does not have that feature, and only works in the old style of get the dial tone, then dial.
I have issues with the limitations of all desk phones available today, but those are not anything bad with this phone in particular. :)

Disappointment with reception on this corded phone.......2007-09-07
The audio on the receiver is really bad. The voice tone you hear is very harsh and it is difficult to hear the person speaking to you.Every adjustment I've tried doesn't help the problem. I often have to ask the person I'm talking to, to repeat what they said. It seems that the person I am speaking to has no problem hearing me on his end.
Talk about basics...What good is a phone that has poor reception? I don't know yet whether or not the problem can be corrected with a replacement handset. Also I was not made aware that this telephone needs to be near an electrical outlet in order to function. V.S.Simon, Houston,Texas
Panasonic KX-TSC14B 2-Line Speakerphone with Caller ID (Black).......2007-03-23
I bought this phone for the quality of it's speakerphone function. It has proven to be as reliable as I had hoped. My company uses this phone and my experience with it there led me to this purchase.
Nice product!.......2006-10-14
It is excellent! Well designed. Works perfectly and no any problem. I am happy with it.
So so........2005-11-25
I was looking for a coreded phone that I could plug my standard headset into. I went to Staples to see which phones had this capability, and the Panasonic KX-TSC14B did, and at a reasonable price. Please note that I did not require a 2-line phone; it seems that all phones with a headset jack (at least at Staples) were 2-line phones.
I purchased the phone and was disappointed. For some reason it made my headset sound very hollow. As the previous reviewer noted, there is no mute button -- I guess I should have realized that sooner. The other annoying "feature" was if I had the headset plugged in, the calls were always routed to the headset; even when I picked up the handset! I could not figure out how to change this behavior.
I returned the phone and started my search again. I found a company that makes great Home Office phones... Aastra. I HIGHLY recommend their phones... or at least the PT-470 which I wound up purchasing. They also make 2-line phones. Do a Google search for "Aastra".
What has happened to telephones recently?.......2004-01-19
So corded phones have now joined the ranks of junk "consumable" electronics along with hair driers and toaster ovens? In my search for a decent 2 line corded phone with caller ID, I purchased and with great disappointment returned 2 AT&T models (once the gold standard of all phones!)and finally, several months into the process, exhausted and desparate, settled on this Panasonic. Unlike the AT&Ts, all of the features work, but there is no mute, no reserve power supply (for shame!)and the LED screen is impossible to read from any angle except from directly above. I do not recommend this or any other two line phone. The situation is pathetic!

phone review.......2007-12-21
I am pleased with this phone, though I have yet to explore any of it's features. It seems well made, but I haven't had it long enough to be able to have a sense of it's long-term value. I was a bit peeved that I had to purchase an ultra-short cord from Radio Shack in order to use the phone as a wall phone. But that's a minor issue.
Broke after 2 weeks.............2007-07-24
Phone worked great for the first 2 weeks i had it then all of a sudden one day I went to work and tried to call home. The line was busy for hours. When I got home I realized that this phone did something strange and even though it was plugged in and on the hook, it was still causing my line to be busy. I unplugged it and put it back and it tried that a few times, even put it in another jack. I even changed the batteries. I Have no idea what was wrong with it but it won't work. Like someone else wrote, there is no light on the LCD screen and the handset is too small. I'm very disappointed in the phone. I dont know if i'll ever figure out what is wrong with it. Don't buy it........

GE 29385GE1 Corded Phone with Speakerphone and Call Waiting Caller ID
Phone works very well. We live in a very open and windy area and no-corded phones sparkle and crackle a lot. Volume controls could go a little higher but still a good caller-id speaker phone. I've spent more on other phones that didn't work near as well with my hearing aids.
No Backlit display on this model.......2007-03-20
Despite what the description says, the display on this model is not backlit. At least not the one I received. Even the GE product spec sheet from their own web site says backlit, but it is not. No one else commented on this, so not sure if I have a defective item or not, but I specifically bought it for the backlit display, so it's going back. I see that another GE model, 29369GE1, is backlit according to some reviewers, so I'm going to give that one a try. Rated a one for bum product info.
Good functionally but less good ergonomically.......2007-02-10
The phone functions very well, but the handset is too rounded and tapered, and worst of all is made of plastic which is far too smooth, so gripping the handset is somewhat bothersome. Also, adding a shoulder rest is absolutely necessary in order to rest it on your shoulder instead of holding it in your hand.
