Bought this last year for my 16 yr. old and she loves it. She had no problem getting it loaded and running in no time flat (little web ferret!). She uses it constantly, with NO complaints. Still hasn't filled it all the way up with music. Plenty of room. Having it able to charge off the computer is GENIUS. No batteries to worry about. Love it so much, My 12 yr. old is getting one this Christmas.

This proudct does exactly what it is suppose to. It works with windows vista and xp. I also say I used 9,10,11, windows media player and they all worked. I am thinkin about getting an ipod nano instead though for Christmas. I loved it but it is not as good as ipod nano 3rd generation but better than ipod nano 2nd generation.

Got this for my son's 14th birthday. Very happy once I got one that worked (had to return the 1st one but very easy policy). The player is easy to use with WMP or just drag and drop. Would have liked to be able to recharge battery without plugging into computer but is working fine and has good battery life. The expansion slot is a plus - can really get alot of music on there. Price was great and free shipping is fabulous.

This is a great alternative to an Ipod Shuffle. It is about half price and features the same amount of storage, plus a screen (!) FM radio, voice recorder and picture viewer. The pictures don't look great and the quality of the voice recorder isn't as good as it could be, but overall it's a great bargain. I've had mine for 8 months and i'm about to upgrade to one of the sansa e200's

Same product, different name........2007-12-03
I bought this same MP3 player, only it was marketed under a different name. It worked awesome for about two months and then started shutting itself off and on continually until the battery dies. When I called tech support they essentially said "tough luck." Mine looks EXACTLY the same but is silver and has the manufacturers name "Kanguru." I wouldn't recommend it and I hope that the Coby 2GB that I'm thinking to buy doesn't do the same thing to me.

Decent, but not durable.......2007-09-14
I was thrilled with this unit when I got it; for the money it is a decent little player packed with features. My joy was short lived, however, as I began to encounter problems:
* It eats AAA batteries like a ravenous wolf. I probably should have looked for some rechargeable batteries for this thing.
* I found that bumping, jostling, or dropping it, even lightly, can cause it to die and require restarting. Really annoying if you're exercising or using it in the car.
* After about two months, I lightly bumped into a metal banister with the device in my pocket. It cracked the glass, making the screen unreadable. Seemed like it should have withstood more than that.
* Another month after that, the jack for the headphones got messed up. I had to hold the headphone plug in it just the right way or the ground terminal would disconnect and the channels would cancel out. This got worse, and happened with any headphones I tried. Eventually the device became unusable because of this.
Like Dad always said: "Buy cheap, buy twice". Should've listened.

Not only wouldn't my product work, but it discharged the battery so fast the player was almost too hot to hold. I was on a move to Japan so had no time to demand a replacement. I'd like to try a working model to see if it can deliver a satisfactory performance.

The NW-S203F is a very good music player with good sound quality and very comfortable to wear when exercising. I really feel it was a very good buy and would recommend it.
Good for jogging.......2007-12-21
I had it for over a month. Good overall MP3 player. Sound is good. The hold switch locks the buttons so that you don't accidentally push them when you jog. The arm band stays in place. The earphones has a clip to wrap around the ears, but it still moves around so I have to adjust it often during my run. It comes with a variety of other functions such as stop watch, pedometer, calories measurement. Shaking the player resets some of the counters and there is a sport mode so that you lock the counter. With these extra functions, it's not that intuitive to figure them all out, so you have to read the manual.

Great player for people who exercise. The use and sound are great and the SonicStage software is easy to use. The people that are complaining about the software either shouldn't own new-age electronics or should become more software savvy before using it because I had it up and running in seconds. You have to be smarter than the equipment you're operating!

This is my first mp3 player. I wanted something inexpensive to try out. It's very easy to use and I only paid $30 for mine. I have been using this for five to six hours a day for the past two years. It's still going strong. I misplaced the clear plastic cover for the usb plug, but no biggy. I love the fact that I can charge it without a charger. I can just plug it in to usb port and it charges. The battery is still great, and I get to adjust speed of playback, adjust search speed, play music in sequence, shuffle, and moreover, fm radio as well as adjust sound equalizer to get just the sound I need. I work at a plant and dropped it few times but still going strong. Love this! Best investment ever.

This is a great little player but it doesn't play albums in order. if you want it to have more features and be super cool then go to the australian samsung site and download the yp-u2 software (not the full product name of yp-u2jzw) and install the firmware update to 2.21. You can then use windows media player 11 to sync it, or use it as an instantly recognizable flash drive. I have been to a lot of forums and spent to much time on this...

I would have rated this with 5 stars if the battery would just hold out for a few more hours. I listen to audio books on it but hate when it quits and has to be recharged so frequently. The Nano has a lot more time between charges.

I bought this as a gift, intending to load it up with music for my sis before sending it off. Glad I did that, because it gave me the opportunity to see this thing in action before disappointing my sister with it. First of all the buttons are really difficult to push. Sometimes they work and sometimes not. Second, the on/off switch fell off the minute I touched it. Third the interface is insultingly awful. I agree with whomever said to spend your money elsewhere. They should have put less effort into the pretty casing and more into the workings of this thing. I've already tossed it aside and ordered a Sandisk for her. This thing is total junk and isn't worth the materials it's made of.

I bought 03 of this players, the first one i tried to format as the web page recommends; it couldn`t be formatted. the second one doesn`t turns on and the third one got the format, turns on and off normally but the battery never gets charged!!!!! that`s a very bad product, i might give a D- qualifying

I purchased this product because of the features that it claims it has. This product is a pile of junk. It kept turning itself on and off, whether I try to turn it on or plug it into the USB port on my computers (tried on both my desktop and laptop at home). I called tech support and told them everything I tried to get it to work and all they did was tell me to try the same things again. I called tech support once more and finally found out how to get it replaced. They charged me $25.00 to ship a replacement and when it came, it did the EXACT SAME THING the original did. My wife called the company once more and was told that we could not get a refund. Save yourself some trouble. Do not purchase anything from Nextar. Do not invest in Nextar. Do not utter the word "Nextar"

Stopped working after a month.......2007-10-14
This stopped working after a month of my 9yr old granddaughter receiving it for Christmas. I don't know if she was too rough with it or if it was a faulty unit.

This thing is ultra-sturdy despite its flimsy appearance. I have dropped it numerous times onto the ground and it has scratches all over the body, somehow it still manage to work normally. I use it extensively but the battery still holds up pretty well.

I bought this the minute it came out because none of the existing iPod products at the time utilized flash memory--therefore they "skipped" during aerobic workouts. I use it a couple times a week and have loved it--but the slide on the back recently broke off. Even though I have the Nano, I'm gonna buy the new shuffle--I really enjoy the tiny size, and especially like the built in clip. I also suspect the new version will last longer, because it has fewer parts to break. I would have rated it a "5" if it had not broken.

I bought an iPod shuffle a summer ago, and loved it at first until all my friends laughed at me for buying an iPod without a screen. All of them had nanos. I felt left out. I am now going to buy another mp3 player. I have to admit I will still use it for exercising it is a great work out tool. Over all I don't think it's woth it buy a nano. A nano is just a little more money.

GREAT ! multimedia device that can do more then just about every other device I've seen out there & at a very low price [Under $100 on sale.]. Where else can you get a quality, reliable multimedia device that can play MP3, FM radio[Worked great even in South America.], Voice recorder, Cool Games, Display photos & text, transfer from & to other devices AND HAS A MINI SD SLOT TO ADD ADDITIONAL MEMORY MAKING IT UNLIMITED FOR MUSIC, PHOTOS, ETC. Screen is bright & easy to see. The only two minor gripes I have with this device is that the connections to device are a bit small & you must be gentle when making USB connection & the only way I'm aware of to charge this device is using the USB connection which can be a problem when you're on the road with no PC to connect to.
For under $100 you just can't beat this & you get good support from one of the best large Memory companies around. Three cheers for KINGSTON !
Capable and Compact.......2006-12-26
The KPEX media player is smaller than I had expected. I have had great fun with the games and video playback and all the other tools - I have my bus schedules on there that I can read with the text feature, for instance - but its primary use for me was always going to be as an mp3 player, so I can best be of service by comparing it to previous flash-based mp3 players I have owned.
- Previous players have always fallen short in the volume department. I can stand next to the freeway with my KPEX on (where my train stop is) and hear my mp3s just fine.
- Previous players have always only been able to play files in the root directory of the drive. The player's file browser allows me to play only selections from folders I create on the player, and the player treats the directory you open an mp3 from as its playlist.
- Previous players have never been able to resume mp3 files when I stop them in the middle, important to me because I listen to many audiobooks. The KPEX will, as long as you do not go into another mode between stopping and restarting the file.
General positive notes: voice recording quality has been good. The player comes with a rubber guard against damage, an audio line cable, an extra USB cable adapter to connect to the player with a standard M-M USB-A cable, and an attractive leather neckpiece, all welcome additions.
I couldn't be happier with this player. I suppose I should write some Cons. The games packaged with the player are both action games, and I think I am not alone in preferring puzzle games on my portable devices. Kingston has no plans to develop further games for the player as of this writing. While mp3 playback does, FM playback does not continue when you exit to the menu. The included earbuds were not padded, making them too painful for me to use.

There is a lot that this little 1 gigabyte "K-PEX 100" can do...
The sound that the MUSIC mode produces is quite impressive; the RECORD function does not record the FM RADIO, but there is a Line-In jack, so with another radio, you can still record a WMA file (from 32 kbps up to the 128kbps ). easily. And the quality is pretty good.
I was looking for something that worked like a PDA, and I've come to terms with not being unable to input text into a MP3 player, and being able to replace the battery.
When the battery could be replaced (like the Creative Zen line), I could could not display long TXT files easily. When I couldn't replace the battery (like the Ipod, which I do own [40GB 4th-G]),I was stuck with parsing out my files into 4K parts for the Notes function.
Although the "K-PEX 100" splits words in strange places, and no amount of carriage-returns will force a blank space between paragraphs [a couple dozen apostrophes create a sufficient visual break for this], now I can read a TXT file of ANY size! Just pressing the up and down keys on the compass-style keys, I read a long 60K academic article on it!
I'm surprised that MP3 players that display TXT files on their screens haven't been promoted more as e-book readers. Yes, I've forgone the inability to input text into a device for now, but this little device, has still more capabilities which provides a sufficient workaround...
... it has a MiniSD slot! If you carry a USB-key that can read to and/or write to a MiniSD card, just pop this into your computer, and then pop the card into the "K-PEX 100", and then you can display your JPG picture files in the PHOTO mode or TXT files from the TEXT mode. With a little creativity, and some embedded folders, you can display a calendar, read through a diary, and look at your pictures from your camera.
That brings up another feature, in case you don't want to use the MiniSD card avenue... the HOST mode! If you use the enclosed [and unfortunately, proprietary] USB host cable, you can use your own camera's cables and memory to import the pix directly in the "K-PEX 100" hard-wired memory. Tried it a couple times, and it works fine. I still prefer the MiniSD method.
The starting up of this device does take about 15-20 seconds, and that's a bit annoying, but it doesn't outweigh its strengths (a "file manager" to examine the devices contents, TXT capability, 1 mode of user-defined EQ capability) and there's still more! Built in games and a VIDEO mode (need convert these on your PC with the "K-PEX 100" included software) too, and I haven't even started using those yet!
And the clincher is that all of this is available on a device merely a hundred dollars, about size of an Altoids case (but don't try to squeeze it in one, it's a millimeter too long), a barely a couple ounces. Handsome looking, lots of power, and virtual invisibility on you... it's hard to beat!
