If you notice on other websites, you will see a lot of people raving about this board. Then a month or two later, you will see them edit or write a negative review asking why it no longer posts.

Customer Service/Support: First of all, this board is manufactured by Fox Conn, EVGA is the vendor and provides the support. They do not test their replacement boards. A lot of of current owners have reported that they get DOA motherboards, including myself. Yet the problem continues to persist. Time is important. Having several days of downtime while waiting for your replacement, on top of wasting 4-5 hours disassembling your computer and reassembling your computer and then finding out you have a dead motherboard and have to repeat? I'm not saying that their services are decent, but no amount of service is enough to deal with the frustrations of this board.

If you read the message boards from EVGA, there is a known issue with the Memory Controller constantly dieing out. This is due to a fatal design flaw with the cooling.

What does this mean to you? You can expect the motherboard to give out over time, especially if you like to overclock, don't expect it to work for very long. I've had 4 boards die on me due to the same problem, and I am not an aggressive overclocker.

I have 1200mhz rated ram which I have to run underclocked to 800mhz because the memory controller keeps dieing on these Foxconn boards. Yet even with this known issue, EVGA support has yet to my knowledge brought this to the attention of the manufacturer.

What does this mean to you? You will be paying a premium for a motherboard that won't utilize your expensive computer parts. You are paying for an overclocking board, but you will not be able to overclock without worrying about overheating. A lot of RMAs. A lot of downtime. A lot of money spent on shipping. A lot of time with disassembling your computer and reassembling it.

I used to be a 100% loyal ASUS motherboard customer. All my previous systems have been Asus Mobo based. The reason I bought this board was to take advantage of the PC9600 (1200mhz) memory compatibility which Asus was not offering at the time.

I Admint I was a bit skeptical at first. I didn't like the BIOS menu outlay, and was bummed out that it only included 1 IDE port connector.

After 1 Month with this board.. I can say I'm loving it! It has the easiest and most detailed overclocking options I've used, fast and stable Nvidia chipset system, and loads of other user defined options in the BIOS. It comes with a handy Chipset heatsink and Fan, some nice LEDs which indicate the boards condition, integrated PC speaker and around 5 auxiliary fan connectors just as little extras.

I do recommend you get a good Full tower case for this board since its a big one.

Evga and Nvidia have formed a winning team with this board! Its fast, very customizable, offers rock-solid stability and the best overclockability available.

Fast MB with Cool Functions but..........2007-06-12

EVGA is the first company released motherboard based on n680 chipset. It has mixed reviews due to the instability. EVGA made several updates. A1 & T1 are the updated versions.

The differences between A1 and T1 not just the warranty.
A1 is the full version which has all the cables/accessories and hardcopy manual while T1 is a light version which has only essential cables and PDF manual.

Those boards I believe were outsourced to Foxconn which has it's own 680 MB, N68S7AA-8EKRS2H, with similar layout. So as far as quality goes, Foxconn has a pretty good reputation. You shouldn't be worried too much about it's EVGA's first time.

Good -

I bought the T1 version since I don't think I'm going to use the same board for more than 3 yrs. It has no problems that were found in 680i SLI (the original version).

The motherboard is extremely fast and comes with cool software which allows you to monitor your system such as CPU temperature and usage. It can also update Bios dynamically.

I'm not a big fan of overclocking so I did not use those functions which is a good thing since this board normally works perfectly until you overclocking.

Bad -

I found a number of mistakes in the manual. For instance, in the Connecting Internal Headers section, they transposed the + - sign of HD Led.

Also, I'm surprised that EVGA puts a lot effort to design cool features like north bridge cooler but completely overlook some of essential components such as I/O Shield.

The I/O is a really a joke. It's like those stuff you found in the dollar store. You have to figure out a way yourself in order to fit the motherboard.

Conclusion -

Overall, I give 4.5 out of 5. But if you have to overclock and you can't help it. You better do more research on 680 chipset. Neither A1 nor T1 has fixed all the problems.

Great 680i SLI motherboard, but get the A1 version.......2007-05-16

If you are an enthusiast or an overclocker (OC), then you know you want the Nvidia 680i chipset. However, you probably also know of the inordinate amount of problems that chipset has. Well, where as Asus has refused and/or been slow to fix most of the 680i problems (killing RAM, POST problems, keyboard/mouse problems, SATA drive problems,etc...) eVGA and others have actually worked on correcting them. Now, no 680i board is bug free, but the eVGA board revision A1 (and T1) has fixed a lot of the problems, like other companies like Gigabyte. However, eVGA stands out for the excellent customer support. In both sense eVGA is the opposite of ASUS... they fix the problem with the boards AND provide excellent customer service.
The only real difference between A1 and T1 versions are A1 includes a lifetime warranty for just a few bucks more. IMHO the A1 is a much better deal.
