Heatsink not a problem for QX9650.......2007-11-28
Well, after searching for a heatsink that would work in the case and on my motherboard, which ruled out Zalman's 8700 and 9700. I decided to have a look at the heatsink with the QX9650. Just, maybe Intel upgraded their POS heatsink.... To my surprise - They did. Fits the motherboard and low profile for the case. Yea, the build is on. BTW, the heatsink looks a little like the 8700 and it's knock-off's.
Very, Very, Quiet...........2007-11-28
It's been a week and I forget the computer is even in the room it is so quiet. I came to change the four stars to a five star, but it won't let me. If I build another computer, and I will, then I am going to use this case. By the way, there is a locking cover over the front drive bays. This is great, if you have kids around.
Updated Review...
Antec P190, QX9650, ASUS P5E3 Deluxe, EN8600 GTS Silent Graphics Card, WD SE16 HD's, Corsair 1800 DDR3.
The system is awesome, quiet, and fast. Using the stock cooler with the QX9650 - CPU 14 Degrees, MB 35 Degrees. The RPM on the cooler in ASUS silent mode is 998 to 1010. I can't hear a thing.
Only complaint about the P190 is all of the power supply leads. I like the modular design, where I plug in the leads that I want. I just took all of the unused leads and placed them under the MB, where the P190 as about 3/8 inch crawl space. I have written three reviews, because I complained about no room for a cooler. But, now that Intel ships a decent cooler, I have no complaint. It seems like the Zalman 8700 would also work, but not sure if it would be better. I am going to return the Zalman. Zalman will tell you that it doesn't fit, but it does.
BTW, the light in the case is almost worthless, but it looks cool if you point it to the fan on the side. Just adds more light to the system, so it is easy to see inside the case without removing the cover. Okay, so it's not useless, but it could have been mounted a little better.
Old Review...
"The Zalman 9700 is too tall. Maybe the 9500 will work. The 8700 does work, but not with the P5E3 Asus, which has DDR3. I will try the 9500, if I can find it locally, but if I can't, then I will probably use liquid cooling. It's quieter, which is why i got the case, but seems risky if the thing develops any leaks. Plus, many liquid coolers don't work as well as Zalman's, and believe it or not, many are too noisey, such as the Bigwater 760i. I also reckon that you must be careful not to get an air cooler that conflicts with the air currents in the case."
Quiet and Cool.......2007-09-02
I'm not sure why other reviews are saying that this case cannot fit large heatsinks. I have a Zalman CNPS9500A LED "Blooming Onion" type CPU heatsink, and it does not even come close to touching the side fan. You will have to watch your wires though.
I switched to this case from a CM Stacker 830, and the fans that just come with it make the switch totally worth while. The large fans make a lot less noise than the 7 120cm fans I had in my CM case, and they do a better cooling job too in my opinion.
The features that are designed in this case are great, if you can afford it, buy it.
I like this case after 4 months of use. It's okay~.......2007-08-30
UPDATE:
Except some limitation about the CPU heatsink which I mentioned below, this case is not too bad. In fact, I like this rock solid case now. I wish I can change the rating to 4 or more now. Also, Antec has an excellent customer support which is definitely a plus. It is expensive but it's a case which will last a long time.
old review..
I just bought P190 while I was in search of silent yet cool case. I am quite disappointed about the way this case was designed. First of all, you cannot fit the after market CPU heatsink longer than 120mm because of its side mounted 200mm fan and bracket. How many CPU heatsinks out there today measure less than 120mm tall? It would be only mediocre CPU coolers for the lower GHz CPUs. Scythe, Zalman, Thermaltake, ASUS..they all come taller than 120mm. My Thermaltake Big Typhoon CPU cooler touches the side fan so I can't even close the side panel. Now I have to downgrade to stock CPU cooler. This is ridiculous. Who designed this product? This has got to be a person who hasn't got a clue how the current PC market is going. Just by this fact alone, this is a totally failed product. A lot of people will most likely return this case after knowing their CPU cooler cannot fit into the case and have to resort to stock cooler. Who would do that? If you are willing to spend more than $350 just for a PC case, you would definitely be a high-end users who would not resort to anything less than top CPU heatsink. Something doesn't add up here.

Monster Case.......2007-01-10
If you plan on moving your case around, pick something else. If you want the biggest and baddest case out there, look no further. I had to pull the feet off to get this mammoth to fit under my desk (measure before buying)
Pros:
- Air Flow!! I have 10 X 120mm fans @ 79CFM (5 pulling - 5 pushing)- No Overheating
- Work Space - Nothing is cramped - Well thought out design. Easy to assemble.
- Quality Parts - no sharp edges
- Great cable management - cables can easily be hidden.
- Looks very professional.
Cons:
- Don't think this is going to be a quick assembly. It is easy but took me 8 hours to get everything the way I wanted it. Would not make a good first case.
- The cables that it come with are useless. You need 36" everything (SATA II, PATA, and Floppy cables)
- Doors are a little flimsy, but after I finished building, I wont use them much. They are plastic and do not come all the way off, so you have to deal with them while you are building. They have to be snapped shut top and bottom (can't close it like a frigerator door)
In summary this is a VERY expandable case and I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Sonata II PSU is junk.......2007-09-15
I love the looks of this case; although, I am concerned a bit about the front cover. Wish I didn't have to open it every time to turn unit on. Now for the bad - my PSU didn't last the 1+ years that most do...it died in 2 days! I am VERY disappointed since the reason I bought this case was b/c of Antec's reputation for great power supplies. Sonata III uses completely different PSU so I'm guessing Antec figured out this PSU is junk.
Tight space, but solid otherwise.......2007-07-09
I bought this case to build my newest computer. I'll start with the pros: It looks great. Its built solid, with lots of drive bays. The locks on the front drive bays and the side panel are good if, like me, you have young children running around, and you want to keep them out of your computer.
Now the cons: Its a little tight to work in. I installed an evga 8800GTS and the optional front intake fan, and I can bairly fit the power connector to my graphics card. The air chasis guide is worthless unless you spend the money to install the 92mm intake fan in it. Then it does a fairly good job cooling the CPU (at least 3-4 degrees), but at the expense of motherboard temperature (at least a 1-2 degree increase).
I can't comment on the power supply, because I wanted a more powerful psu anyway. But it does look fairly cheap. I'm not surprised that it dies in less than two years.
If I had another chance, I'd probably look for a different case, but I'm not dissapointed. That's why I gave it 3 stars.
Good product, poor Customer Service frm Antec.......2007-06-09
I've had this case for over a year now, and was working great. Its still audibl, but certainly quieter than any other case I've bought. The weakness was (and is mentioned in reviews on other websites) is the frontdrive bay door/cover. The way it attached to the hinge, there are 2 pins on bendable plastic that go into th hollow spine of the hinge.
What is bendable, is also breakable. I contact customer service, and despite my detailed description of what happened, they email me a skematic and ask me to identify the part. I do. Then they ask me to send them a copy of a receipt of invoice. I bought it retail over a year ago, I dont have such a thing. So after a few days of nothing, I ask if I can buy it. So I get a link to all Sonata II accessories/parts and buy it there.
I get it, and it doesnt fit. Antec changed their design for the hinge/door assembly. I bring that to light, and he says that I now need a new front panel, but no mention of if one is ordered for me, or I now have to buy more parts or what. They have since closed the ticket (not to my satisfaction) and the way their system is, you cannot view tickets that have been closed, so I cannot even go in and re-read it to see if I mis-read something. I DO feel that if I had kept the receipt, I may be in better shape, but right now, I'm feeling 2nd class
Really disappointed with the Sonata II.......2007-05-25
I purchased the Antec Lifestyle Sonata II case because I liked the looks and design and was looking forward to putting my P4 components in a quieter case. And much to my dismay when I opened the case up I found a piece of black plastic laying in the bottom. So I searched around and discovered it was suppose to be holding the front grill on. Being curious, I pulled on the front grill a little bit and heard a couple more plastic pieces come flying off. Maybe not the best idea in the world, but it proved to me that there are some seriously cheap plastic parts on this case that is touted as being steel. And to top it all off, I squeezed the tabs on the air filter to pull that out and the darn thing broke into pieces in my hand. So now I'm out over $100 bucks trying to decide if I want to use this case still or not. I'd have to recommend passing on this one.
Great case!.......2007-03-09
I bought this case to upgrade my computer and test several motherboard / cpu combinations. I have been able to run several combinations (P4 / 478, D805 / 775, and C2Duo / 775) with no problems. I put in several harddrives, CD/DVD drives, extra cooling, and several peripherals. The case has handled everything I threw at it. I still have to test it with a RAID configuration but not bad so far...
I have seen several reviews about the PSU failing after a few months but I have not had it that long. The PSU has done a good job so far requiring less power than I expected for the various configurations. The wiring was clearly labeled and easy to use.
My one complaint was the passive cooling system. I had to remove the custom Antec air intake flow to install components. Not a big deal but I won't put it back in. I would definitely consider the case again.
