Wii Nunchuk Controller

Product Description

Contoured to perfectly fit a player's hand, the Nunchuk controller goes an extra step to meet the needs of gamers. It features the same motion-sensing technology enabled in the Wii Remote controller, with an analog stick to assist in character movement. Use it to move your characters and have them perform all kinds of specific actions -- whether it's throwing a pass in football or aiming a ranged weapon in an action game. The ambidextrous nature of the Wii controllers grants accessibility seldom seen in game controllers.

Amazon.com

The Wii Nunchuk controller is a secondary controller that adds even more innovation to the next generation of gaming, and does it all with less physical movement.

Used in conjunction with the standard Wii remote, certain games need the Nunchuk controller for additional control options. Contoured perfectly to fit a player's hand,

The Wii Nunchuk (left) connects directly to the Wii remote. View larger.
the Nunchuk controller builds on the simplicity of the Wii Remote controller. The Nunchuk contains the same three-axis motion sensor found in the Wii Remote, but also includes an analog stick, and two buttons to help assist in character movement.

Many games will allow you to control your character's movement with the Nunchuk in your left hand, while your right hand is free to execute the action movements with the Wii Remote. For example, the Nunchuk is particularly useful for games like Wii Boxing. You can use the Nunchuk to punch with your weaker hand, while you use the Wii remote to punch and jab with your predominant hand.

Take the fun to the next level with two-handed control of your games. View larger.
In first-person shooters, the Nunchuk controller carries the burden of movement, freeing you to aim and fire using a more natural motion with the Wii Remote. In a football game, you can make your quarterback elusive with the Nunchuk controller while you search for an open receiver to throw to using the Wii Remote. Serious gamers may even want to use two Nunchuk controllers to gain a fierce competitive edge.

Because the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers are only relatively dependent on each other, players are free to hold them in whichever hand is most comfortable. Perfectly suitable for either right or left-hand use, the Wii Nunchuk controller grants accessibility not often seen in previous game controllers.

Also, the Nunchuk controller doesn't need its own power--it plugs into the Wii Remote controller when it's in use. So there's no need to worry about charging or replacing expensive batteries.

Adding a Nunchuk to your Wii system will definitely help you open the doors to the next level of gaming, and seriously step up performance. Just be careful not to knock out your significant other, or bruise the dog, severely, while using one, or two Nunchuk controllers.

Ok - Wii is great and this controller works as well as expected.

It's not used nearly as much as the primary controller, so if you're getting 4 primary ones, you might consider only getting 2 of these.

Garmin nüvi 350 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

Amazon.com Product Description

What if one device could help you navigate anywhere in the U.S. and Canada, while offering travel tips, storing your favorite tunes and photos, providing translation assistance, and more? That device is here, and it's not much bigger than a deck of cards. The Garmin nüvi 350 is set to revolutionize what we expect from a GPS navigation device, or from any device for that matter.

Update -- Which nüvi is best for you? Since this review was originally written, the Garmin nüvi line has multiplied into an entire family of GPS devices with a rich feature set. Click here to see a quick, simple comparison of features for all Garmin nüvi GPS navigators.

The nüvi 350 is a portable GPS navigator, traveler's reference, and digital entertainment system, all in one. View product demo (requires Flash).

Design
With a total weight of 5.1 ounces and slim measurements of 3.87 x 2.91 x 0.87 inches (WxHxD), the nüvi 350 is just right for the pocket or purse. A bright, 64,000-color display dominates the front of the device and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels means that there's plenty of room for displaying map data and other elements of the device's interface. An SD memory card slot is provided for expansion software, such as a points of interest database, media files and electronic guides (see below). The flip-up antenna includes an MCX-type connector for connecting the unit to an external GPS antenna. Meanwhile, a powerful built-in speaker resides on the back of device. A built-in lithium ion battery will give you for to eight hours of battery life, depending on use. In addition to an AC charger, the unit also ships with a 12-volt power adapter for vehicle charging, as well as a windshield suction cup mount.

Fortunately, Garmin has made it easy to interface with the nüvi 350's 700 megabytes of onboard memory, thanks to "plug-and-play" USB mass storage support. Just plug the device into your computer's USB port and you've got instantaneous access to all the audio books, music, photos, supplemental maps and other data on the nüvi 350's internal and SD card memory.

Navigation
The nüvi 350 is first and foremost a personal GPS device. Wherever you go -- in your car or on foot-- the device offers extremely accurate position data, thanks to a high-sensitivity integrated GPS receiver by SiRF and WAAS-enabled, 12-satellite reception. Combined with detailed maps of the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico the nüvi 350 provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and touchscreen control-- making it easy to find your way anywhere. Plus, the unique "text-to-speech" feature calls out turns by street name, and you can choose from either 2D or 3D mapping perspectives when you're viewing your route on the display. Additionally, the nüvi 350 is compatible with Garmin's GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver*, which allows users to avoid traffic tie-ups by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route.

As mentioned, the nüvi 350 comes packed with mapping data for North America, but you can can also load up your custom points of interest. Set up proximity alerts for school zones, safety cameras, and more using Garmin's free POI (points of interest) loader program (available from garmin.com).

The device automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way.
Tools for the Journey
Navigation is just part of the journey, and the nüvi 350 is one of the first devices to recognize that. The built-in "Travel Kit" offers an MP3 player, an audio book player from Audible.com, a jpeg-format picture viewer, a world travel clock with time zones, a currency converter, a measurement converter, and a calculator.

In addition to the included travel tools, additional software add-ons are available, such as the Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press. This software suite contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. Now you can look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language -- right in the palm of your hand. Through the unit's text-to-speech interface, users can get a spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank, along with gender and part of speech information.

Another useful add-on software package, the Garmin Travel Guide, is loaded with information provided by Marco Polo. These guides put in-depth travel information such as reviews and recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and more at your fingertips. The software allows you to navigate to an address or search points of interest-- places like hotels, restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions. The nüvi 350 automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way. The unit also audibly announces the name of upcoming streets-- letting you keep your eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways. And if you stray off course, the nüvi 350 automatically calculates the quickest way to get back on track.

*Traffic services available only in select cities where RDS-TMC coverage exists. Requires the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver and subscription fee to enable traffic capability.

What's in the Box

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars First GPS.......2008-01-02

I researched this item for a long time. I thought that this unit had all the functions that I would need. I used it on an 800 mile trip last week and am very pleased with it. It is easy to use out of the box and did everything I needed it to do. My only complaint is that I live in an area that is growing very fast and no GPS will ever be able to keep up with this growth. I am told that new maps will be out every 12 to 15 months for about $75.00. I know that they will not catch all the new roads here. I am taking a 6 week trip back East this Summer and I know that this unit will really pay for it's self then.

4 out of 5 stars Garmin Nuvi 350.......2008-01-02

Works very well, but could be more user friendly. I found it hard to find my way through the screens to enter or change information. Could be partly because I've never used a GPS unit before. Directions were easy to follow, and it recalculated quickly when we didn't follow the directions.

5 out of 5 stars satisfied customer.......2008-01-01

I can,t believe I waited so long to get one.I use it for my business, and I don,t have to look at a thomas guide while driving. All I do is listen to the voice telling me where to turn.

2 out of 5 stars suggested route often is longer or wrong.......2008-01-01

I like the ease of functionality with Garmin and find it very intuitive. I especially like the fact that it suggests places in the neighborhood when entering the name.

Over the past few weeks however I have become more and more reluctant to using it. This is because several times it happened to me that the suggested route was a long detour to a spot which should have only been a few minutes away. Sometimes also, the route suggestion is plain wrong, nonsense.

Garmin should improve the routing system....

1 out of 5 stars Not Good.......2008-01-01

The product worked fine for 5 days on my hawaii trip. Middle of my trip, it stopped acquiring satellite. had to return the equipment. It may have been an isolated case, but I am not going to buy Nuvi again.

The Wii Remote Controller makes gaming accessible to people of all ages and all abilities. Amazon.com

To make gaming as accessible to people of all ages and all abilities, Nintendo wanted to create a controller that was as inviting as it was sophisticated- the result is the Wii Remote. Nintendo fused the global familiarity of a remote control with the sophistication of motion-sensing technology to come up with an input device that differentiates the Wii from any other console that has come before it.

Revolutionary control
Sporting the dimensions of a small traditional remote control, the wireless Wii Remote is a multifunctional device that is limited only by the game designer's imagination. The magic of the Wii Remote's design lies within; acellerometers inside the controller body measure movement in all directions and at all speeds. In a tennis game, it serves as your racket as you swing your arm for a long forehand or a quick and hard backhand. In a 4x4 driving game it serves as a steering wheel, allowing you to swerve to avoid obstacles or pickup power-ups. In first-person shooters, the Wii Remote acts as a firearm that you can point directly at an on-screen enemy. The list of potential uses is enormous, and the light weight of the Wii Remote allows gamers to play for hours without feeling fatigued.

The Wii Remote boasts impressive technology for such a compact package.

All Wii Remote buttons are accessible and responsive. View larger.

Control many games from up to 30 feet away. View larger.

The motion sensing technology is neatly tucked away within the Wii Remote body.View larger.

The remote feels comfortable in both right and left hands. View larger.

As comfortable as it is functional

The Wii Remote is equally comfortable in right and left hands and houses just the right number of buttons for gaming- not so many that new players will get confused, but enough so that Wii games don't feel constrained. On the face of the remote are the D (or "plus") pad, a large "A" button which is used for major on-screen actions, and two small options buttons. Between the game buttons are a plus and minus buttons (which often act as "forwards" and "back"), as well as a "Home" button to engage the Wii home screen to change settings or check remote battery levels. On the back side of the controller is a trigger-like "B" button, perfect for timing releases of a bowling roll in Wii Sports.

Thankfully, battery life is excellent with the two included AA batteries, just as with the previous generation of Nintendo wireless controllers.

Immersive intelligence

Along the bottom of the Wii Remote, four blue LED lights indicate which player position the remote is currently set to. The controller automatically connects to the Wii console via Bluetooth wireless technology. Below the LEDs, an expansion port lets you connect a number of devices including the Nunchuck and Classic controllers for Virtual Console gaming (Virtual Console games and controller accessories sold separately). Other features of the Wii Remote include adjustable rumble force-feedback and a reinforced wrist strap to ensure safe use. A speaker inside the remote gives the player feedback about the strength of swings or the accuracy of their moves- such as realistic tennis noises as the "racket" connects with the ball in Wii Sports. Overall, the physical design of the remote is extremely sturdy and of very high quality, ensuring countless hours of Wii gaming fun!

5 out of 5 stars Purchased as gift, never played the game.......2008-01-01

I purchased this for my 14 yr old nephew, who informed me it was the BEST Christmas present ever, because now he has two and he can play with his friends and his brother. He also received the dual charger, which he informed me is a must, because this little gizmo eats up batteries! So if you are thinking of purchasing one, make sure you get the charger with it.

Apple 16 GB iPod touch

Product Description

With the Apple iPod touch, Apple has married the iPhone's revolutionary multi-touch interface to their popular digital media player. So instead of a Click Wheel, you just use your fingers to flick through your music, photos, and video. The iPod touch features Apple's revolutionary multi-touch user interface that enables you to find and enjoy all of your music, videos, and more on its gorgeous widescreen display with just the touch of a finger. First introduced on iPhone, the multi-touch interface uses pioneering new software to present the perfect user interface for each application.

Glide through albums with the iPod touch's amazing Cover Flow technology. View iPod touch dimensions.

Browse the Web with the included Safari browser. Or fire up a YouTube video and enjoy the show.

The iPod touch responds to your movements; turn it sideways and your video is presented in widescreen mode.

Incredibly thin at just 8 millimeters.
The iPod touch also includes Wi-Fi wireless networking, the first on any iPod, and three amazing applications that use it: Safari, the most advanced browser on any mobile device, lets you wirelessly view web pages just as they look on your computer, and features Google Search or Yahoo! oneSearch; Apple's YouTube application lets users wirelessly watch over 10 million free videos from the Internet's most popular video website; and the new iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store lets you wirelessly browse, preview and buy songs and albums from the most popular online music store in the world. And to top it all off, the iPod touch is an unbelievable eight millimeters thin.

Music
If a picture says a thousand words, think of what all the album art in your collection might say. With Cover Flow on iPod touch, you can flick through your music to find the album you want to hear. And when you do, a quick tap of the cover flips it over to display a track list. Another tap starts the music.

Video
The 3.5-inch display gives you video like nothing you've seen before on a portable device. Watch your favorite movie. Catch up on television shows, anywhere. Enjoy video podcasts. Play music videos. All using multi-touch technology that lets you bring up onscreen controls and go widescreen (or back to full screen) with a tap.

Photos
iPod touch holds up to 20,000 photos you sync via iTunes. Flick to scroll through thumbnails. Tap to view full screen. Rotate for landscape format. Or perform some sleight of hand by opening two fingers to zoom in. You can even play slideshows, complete with music and transitions. Set any photo as your wallpaper to personalize your iPod touch...with a touch.

Safari
With Apple's Safari browser built in, iPod touch is the only iPod that gives you wireless access to the web, everywhere you go. See websites the way they were designed to be seen. Sync your bookmarks or add a few as you go. Search the web using the touchscreen keyboard. Zoom in and out by tapping the multi-touch display.

YouTube
Got a bit of a YouTube addiction? iPod touch feeds it from anywhere with a special YouTube player built right in. Watch featured videos, check out the most viewed, search for something specific, then bookmark your favorites for future reference. It's all the fun of YouTube--pocket-size.

iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
With iPod touch, you can discover new music anywhere. Built-in wireless capability gives you access to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, where you can buy songs with a tap. Browse New Releases, What's Hot, and Just Added lists. Or find exactly what you're looking for with a quick search. Tap a song to preview it or tap Buy to purchase it. From anywhere.

Starbucks Music
You walk into a Starbucks. Order your latte. While you wait, you hear a song wafting from the loudspeakers. You love it. So you get out your iPod touch and buy it over Wi-Fi. Just like that. The iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch tells you what's playing in select Starbucks and lets you buy it along with other featured Starbucks content. So you can sip, shop, and listen.

Multi-touch
iPod touch features the same revolutionary interface as iPhone. Built to take full advantage of the large 3.5-inch display, the multi-touch interface lets you control everything using only your fingers. So you can glide through albums with Cover Flow, flick through photos and enlarge them with a pinch, or zoom in and out on a section of a web page. And iPod touch features a touchscreen QWERTY keyboard perfect for browsing the web in Safari, searching for videos on YouTube, finding music on the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, entering calendar events, or adding new contacts.

Ambient Light Sensor
The iPod touch display has an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts brightness to suit the ambient light in your surroundings. The result? A better experience for you and battery-saving efficiency for iPod touch.

Accelerometer
An accelerometer detects when you rotate iPod touch from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display, so you immediately see the entire width of a web page, your music in Cover Flow, or a photo in its proper aspect ratio.

5 out of 5 stars Got it for Christmas, it's great.......2008-01-01

OK, I asked for it for Christmas. I'm having fun with it. But I'm starting to notice a couple of things I would add if I could.

Wireless iTune updates

more plugins besides Quicktime for video

I'll have more. I'll update as I come across stuff

5 out of 5 stars Let the Music Play ..........2007-12-30

I have purchased two of these from Amazon both at unbelieveable prices. I guess I just caught it at the right time. The first one was bought for my sixteen year old son who now loves it and has since he saw the box on Christmas Eve. Now, while I couldn't keep my own hands off it, I have ordered myself one. Which I didn't want to do, because my gift to me was the Kindle. So I talked myself into it saying well...the Kindle is to books what the IPod is to music...true, right?

It's RIGHT in my mind. I LOVE to read. Much more than my son does and he had no desire to own the reader. I also Love music. He told me to go ahead and get my own. Probably partly because he wanted HIS to be HIS. LOL*

Anyway, we do have other versions of the Ipod that I now don't know what I'm going to do with. One white and one black. They both play video as well, I just always really hated that click wheel and well now I don't have to deal with it.

OH...and I also recommend picking up one of those DLO leather cases that have the little flap that goes over the front and magnetically closes. That is by far the best case I have seen for this item.

Well that's my review. Everyone shut up and DANCE!! xoxo

5 out of 5 stars Jailbreaking is almost a must.......2007-12-30

I was honestly thinking about returning my 16GB iPod Touch after having buyer's remorse for paying $389 + Tax for only 16GB. I finally had the courage to jailbreak it and tool around with it for a bit. I now have the official iPhone apps of Mail, Maps, Stocks, Weather, and Notes on there in addition to others with the ability to add any of my choosing. Now I can say that I'm a bit more happy with my purchase. I would HIGHLY recommend jailbreaking your iPod Touch in order to gain further usability.

Some caveats:
*Wish I could rearrange the icons on the Springboard (I might just not know how)
*No remote, so you have to look at the iPod to do anything.
*Still not used to having the headphone jack on the bottom right.
*I tend to "fat-finger" some of the touch buttons on the bottom accidentally, but this is my fault of course.
*I still haven't upgraded my Mac to 10.4 or 10.5 so I have to use my PC to be able to use it (big bummer).

Other than that, it's a fine product, with a really slick interface and, let's face it, it's gorgeous. Another thing, since it's an Apple product, it just works.

5 out of 5 stars Everything I Expected & More!.......2007-12-29

We got the Ipod Touch for our 16 year old son for Christmas. I can barely keep my hands off of it! I've not used it much on the computer capabilities, but so far it pretty much seems like a mini laptop. He got the accessories that you can use in the car stereo and docking station with speakers. Both of those are wonderful! I also love how it organizes the songs to where you can search for "artist", "album", "song" or "genre". When you choose "album" it will open the whole album and you can listen to it just like you were listening to a CD. For most people there will be no concerns about the limits on space; right now he has approximately 500 songs on it and has only used 1 GB of space.

Amazon.com Product Description

If you're looking for vehicle navigation that's powerful and simple to use, the Garmin StreetPilot c340 is just the ticket. Right out of the box, this unit helps you make the right turns wherever your travels take you. With an easy-to-use touchscreen interface, text-to-speech voice commands, a brilliant display that shows the way with 2D or 3D animations, and a massive points of interest database, the c340 has all the basics covered. Plus, you'll find some great additional features that make it a must-have companion.

Look Mom, no buttons! Garmin has taken simplicity to a new level with the c340.
The c340 is designed with simplicity in mind, although Garmin hasn't forgotten to add a touch of class. With a weight of under ten ounces and a width of 4.4 inches, the c340 is ultracompact and easy to transport. To keep confusion on the road to a minimum, the only buttons are a rotary volume knob and an on/off switch. The bright 3.5-inch-diagonal display features a touchscreen, making it a snap to input routing information and make quick selections on the road. The c340 sports dual integrated speakers for high-quality voice prompts, a USB port for PC connectivity, and an internal lithium-ion battery that provides power when you're planning your routes outside the car (approximately 4-8 hours battery life). In addition to an included 12-volt power adapter for in-car power, there's also an SD memory card expansion slot for use with other Garmin MapSource mapping products. The unit is secured by a suction-mount cradle that fastens to the windshield, allowing for easy portability between vehicles. You can even customize the c340's appearance with optional colored faceplates that suit your style. While the c340 has an internal GPS antenna, it also has an MCX-type connector for hooking up an optional external GPS antenna.

Finding your way with the c340 starts with inputting a location on the touch screen. Next, the unit's text-to-speech feature speaks to you just like a back seat driver, telling you the names of streets and when to turn and in what direction. And if you happen to miss a turn--don't worry, the c340 automatically calculates a new route to your destination. Audible and visual navigation instructions and warnings help you navigate more quickly while keeping your eyes on the road. You can also choose between a 3D mapping perspective or 2D overhead view.

The c340 offers clear, easy-to-read 3D directions.
Another time- and frustration-saving feature of the c340 is the database of preloaded maps and points of interest. Gone are the days of uploading partial maps from your computer to your GPS device: the c340 has them all built in. The unit comes preloaded with Garmin's highly detailed City Select NT street data of the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Finding points of interest along your route is made easy with the c340's huge built-in database of nearly six million hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin has also made it easy for users to upload custom points of interest--now you can add school zones or safety cameras to your database. You can even turn on a proximity alert to notify you of upcoming custom points of interest.

Garmin really kicks the power of the c340 up a notch with the addition of real-time traffic information. This optional service will display congested areas on a color-coded map, allowing you to avoid traffic by simply pushing a butto
