Customer Reviews:
Well Worth The Money.......2007-12-30
Overview: Great microphone, great ear piece, great range, great battery life, good price. There are a few features I would change. But I've tried several products on the market and believe that this is the best out there.
Details: I am very happy with the Plantronics CT12. I've recently begun to telecommute. Since the majority of my day is spent on the phone, I needed a hands-free product. I've tried many different solutions: speaker phones, blue tooth headsets, and wired headsets that plug into wireless or cellular phones. Every time I would buy something new, I found myself using it for a few days and ultimately deciding that it wasn't going to work. It wasn't until I found the CT12 that I stopped searching.
I needed a phone that had great sound quality (both for me and the party to whom I was speaking), a mute feature, wireless (I like to pace on teleconferences), long battery life and good range (if the weather's nice, I like to work outside). The CT12 has everything I needed.
Battery life: I've been on four hour phone calls and never heard the low battery chime. I'm very happy with the battery life.
Range/Static: I was originally concerned that the phone was only 2.4 GHz. My other wireless home phone is 5.8 GHz and has really good sound quality. But my concerns were unwarranted. Not only is there no interference, but I can go all the way to the back of my yard (roughly 100' from the base) and never even pick up any static. And I live in an older neighborhood where the power lines are still overhead. And there's never any interference.
Mute: It works well but I don't like that you have to hold the mute button down for a second before it comes on. If I need to cough or sneeze or block out the dog barking, I don't want the person on the other end to hear it for a second before the mute kicks in. However, it does turn off immediately after pressing the button again. So, all in all, this is just annoying but doesn't make me love my phone less.
Key Size: The buttons on the phone are tiny and are not back lit. That can make them hard to read and use. But, once you've had it for a while, you'll know which keys are which without looking.
Comfort: I find that I often leave the phone on even when I'm not in a call. Not on purpose, but just because I forgot to take it off. It's so comfortable to wear that I can forget I'm wearing it.
Sound quality: One of the biggest failings of other headsets I've used is sound quality. On conference calls, often times participants come through at different volume levels. With the CT12 I can quickly adjust the volume level. And the volume goes high enough that I can always hear even the faintest participant. 99% of the time I leave the volume set to medium and that is sufficient. I have never needed the "maximum" setting (the settings are low, medium, high, maximum). Another failing of other headsets is the quality of my voice transmitted to the other parties. That isn't an issue with the CT12. In fact, nobody can even tell that I'm on a headset. Everybody says that I sound like I'm using a hand held receiver.
I wish.......2007-12-30
I wish the phone had a longer battery life. It has to be recharged every 11 - 12 hours. Other wise there is a low beeping sound and a "low battery" flash across the display and then the phone dies.
Also if you place the phone on the charger while you are in the middle of a call, you will dis-connect the call.
Otherwise I am happy with the cordless headset phone.
simply the best.......2007-12-29
i feel that my plantronics ct 12 is simply the best headset home phone i've ever had. i love hands free phone communication and have had others that are nowhere near the comfort and ease of my plantronics and as i found out later it is digitally encoded so now i feel safer with my information. if you watch ace of cakes on food network, mary alice has one she uses at the business also. with the fire fly on the mic boom now people know i'm on the phone and not just talking to myself. -k
Great Cordless Economical Phone.......2007-12-29
I initially purchased phone to keep my husband off his cellular phone while at home during the day to help save his peak minutes. We love the phone because it allows us the freedom of movement that other yet cordless phones do not have, primarily the sleekness and weight of the phone itself and the two types of headsets that comes with the phone for your convenience. I am very pleased with the product and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a handfree cordless phone. Great phone to purchase for elderly parents or anyone who has trouble handling a handset. The ID caller area is a little smaller than I would like but I can live with it. Thank you.
Great phone, but kills my wireless connection 50% of the time.......2007-12-28
I've had this phone for a couple of years now. I bought it to use for phone conferencing while I work from home. I like that it is fully cordless so you can use the handsfree and have a dialpad that is completely mobile. The Mute button and Caller ID are great features. But there is one problem that has me now looking for a replacement. This phone operates at 2.4 GHz and about half the time it knocks out my wireless internet connection when I use it. This makes it really hard to use when working from home! I know that other reviewers have said that it doesn't affect their other devices, but it does with mine - so I wouldn't recommend the gamble.

Customer Reviews:
works just fine.......2007-11-15
I purchased the i5803 accessory handset to add to my existing system. The integration was seamless. I now have four handsets on the system and they all work just fine.
This is the longest I've ever owned a wireless phone system and I'm very satisfied with it.
Enjoying a phone that works!.......2007-08-24
My family already owned four of these phones in my house and loves them. My sister recorded her own voice so when they ring my parents know its her. I bought one because of the long battery life and compatibility to the other phones in the house. There are newer versions of this phone which have the color and a little more flare but personally I do not need the bells and whistles in a phone.
Great Phones.......2007-08-09
I have had these phone hand sets for over 10 years but the 2 that are used the most started giving us trouble with the key buttons. I did not want a new phone system and looked for new ones in the store but they do not sell this kind anymore. I was real happy that I found them on Amazon. I put the old ones in the house where we could still use them but not often and replaced them with the new hand sets. Each handset works off the main station. All you have to do is plug the charger in a wall socket for each handset. You only need one phone connection for the base. I now have 6 handsets working in my home. Each one will hold 50 telephone numbers, has caller ID and can be used as an intercom between all the handsets. I love these phones and am so glad that Amazon had them.
It's an ok phone, but I've had better. .......2007-07-27
I'm not thrilled, and I bought a bunch of them so I'd have a phone in every room, but they are big, clumsy, and don't always do what I ask them to. I liked my old ones better. Oh well. You live and you learn.
Excellent!.......2007-07-13
Just what I wanted! Just what I ordered! Brand new still in the box! THANK YOU...

Crisp Clear Sound.......2007-12-14
This phone is awesome. I just bought addition handsets to go with the base because the sound is so clear. Love it.
Great phone.......2007-09-04
This phone is fabulous. I love the colored screen. It has great clarity. Easy to use. I will purchase another one soon.
great phone.......2007-06-27
this phone is great. it has many fantastic features and the voice/sound is great. the only thing i don't like about an additional handset is that if you pick up the phone when there is an incoming call with one handset, the other handsets says missed call. it would be great if they would all work togather. but all in all it's a great phone and would definately recommend it.
Simply Lovely.......2007-06-27
The phone is excellent. I received it in excellent condition and I received it in a timely fashion. I will be ordering another phone to put by the computer table. This is real quality stuff Panasonic is selling and SuperSaver is a Great Retailer.
Panasonic GigaRange phone system.......2007-06-25
Good quality, but pricey. Considering the long term advancements in telecommunications technology, coupled with highly automated, relatively cheap production costs, someone in the sales chain is cutting a fat profit on this phone, particulary the handsets. In addition, the instructions could be improved: learning curve with respect to features tends to be steep.

Customer Reviews:
Pretty good phone for my home office.......2007-12-31
I work form a home office and have both my home line and my office line though this phone. It is true that the phone does not stay on the last line used, if you want to use line 2 you must first choose the 'L2' button. It is also true that the battery that came with my remote handset would not hold a charge and require constant charging. I purchased two new batteries (one for the handset and one for the base unit) and thess new batteries hold a charge much longer and the battery in the base unit keeps the phone working even in a power outage. As for the answering system cutting off messages, I don't use the answering machine option I use Voicemail from my provider so I have not experienced that problem. It has a lot of nice features including my personal favorite, call waiting caller id. I use it with a headset and it's really userfriendly (this also eliminates any concern over what line you are using since you have to push buttons anyway). I have been using this phone for over three years and I'm very satisfied.
The single most import feature is call quality and it is exceptional. One thing I don't see in may of these reviews is a comment about the price and that has to be a consideration when shopping for anything. If the phone cost $400.00 it might only get 3 stars but at this price point and with all the features you get who can complain? At this price I have to give it 5 stars.
partially working phone.......2007-11-22
We had to return this phone because the answering function worked on line 2 but not line 1
Nice Phone.......2007-09-06
I like this phone a lot. I use it for my business.I use a headset, so there is a jack on both the base and cordless unit. The only thing I DON'T like is the manual doesn't exlain things clearly and getting a tech support person is impossible. Its ALL menu's, NO option for a LIVE person, so if you buy this phone and neec tech support or even to help set it up as I had to, click option 1 then option 2 (to purchase a phone) and ask for a tech support person, you are connected right away.
Sleek phone - Software Bugs.......2006-09-09
- I woke up one morning to find my two cordless units with message "Searching for Base"
- On the base unit, I hit the DEREGISTER ALL option
- The display unit of the answering base shows the following message:
E 2562
M51 S51 FDXI
May 15, 2002
14:12:06
All keys are totally dysfunctional. I tried plugging into a different location after 5 minute gaps and all other options.
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSE:
They asked me to try plugging the answering machine base into other locations around the house after removing batteries from the cordless units.
Unfortunately I barely ran out of warranty to take advantage of the warranty replacement process.
Please advise if there is a fix for this.
I obviously misspent $199 + $75 for the second cordless unit.
Expected better from AT&T.......2006-04-25
I actually find the sound quality and range pretty good, but I think the system is designed poorly. I can't tell you how many times I have been on the phone and wanted to scroll through my caller ID to get a number for someone I was talking to. No dice, it won't do that. There are a number of issues like that. I can't program it to prefer line 2 to make calls. You may think this is a not a big deal, except I don't like to reveal the line 1 number to my clients via there caller ID. So there went my private line.
Also the belt clip is worthless and after what seemed like hours on the customer support line they want to charge me $5.00 to replace it even though the phone is still under warranty. I'll try a different brand next time.

Customer Reviews:
Doesn't work with wireless network.......2007-12-26
I've had the phone for a year or so and it's worked reasonably well.
Now I cant use the phone at all because after about three seconds it drops the connection with the base - "searching for base.
I'm seriously annoyed - I purchased the phone because it is a different frequency to the router.
Vtech customer support was useless so I need to make a decision between my wireless router and my vTech handset. I'm going to have to give it away to one of my friends who doesn't have a wireless router. That may be tough!
Not a happy start..........2007-12-26
Received our VTech I5808 and I5871 with enthusiasm. The design is excellent. Installation went smoothly. However, within 24 hours we needed to reset the pairing in order to receive or make calls. After multiple resets, a phone call was made to the VTech customer support team. They were pleasant but brought bad news. In the customer service team member's script was a statement that the product offered through Amazon was most likely old and needed to be replaced. Further, he recommended that we return our phones to VTech, not Amazon. As a result, we packed up the product and shipped it back to VTech (at our expense) for a complete replacement.
So ... the verdict is still out. Did we receive an old phone? Will the new phones be reliable? Will VTech promptly return new phones? In the end, will we be happy with our purchase?
The WORST phone I've ever owned..........2007-11-28
I thought Cordless Phones were pretty basic technology. I've owned this phone for nearly 6 months, and it just keeps getting worse and worse.
First it started with the screen. It progressively started disappearing and looking all garbled, until you took out the battery and put it back in again.
Then, it stopped ringing half the time, leaving me 1 ring until voice mail kicked in.
But by far, the most annoying feature is that it DROPS MY CALLS! This isn't a Cell Phone! I live in an open loft space, no walls in the way what-so-ever. If I walked more than 10 feet from the base, it would cut off and say "Call Dropped... Searching for base."
Now the phone doesn't work at all. Setting it on the base, it still wont find it once you pick it up again.
This phone looks cool, but it's sad that it doesn't even work as a phone. I bought it mainly for buzzing in guests when they're at the door of my building, but since I can now only use the speaker phone on the base, I can't even do that much.
Worthless device...
worst phone and manual.......2007-11-22
My wife spent lots of money (about $140) on this phone. It stopped working in 2 months. The handset can't find the base. The user manual indicates to press "register" on the handset when using base to set up handset. But there is not "register" key anywhere on the handset. Took back to the store and they fixed somehow. It lasted another several months and same problem occured again.
Don't waste your money on this one. I do have good experience on another basic cordless Vtech phone - a $5 one which doesn't give me any problem.
Stylish but that's about it..........2007-11-17
We bought this phone because of it's stylish look, and to be honest...the price. We figured you get what you pay for right? Not in this case. This is honestly the worst phone I've ever had.
Sure, it's got a bunch of bells and whistles that we played with for about 3 days, but at the end of the day, you want your phone to have good clarity, good range and a long battery life. This phone had none of that.

Great Phone - I Keep Buying Them.......2007-09-26
I like this phone system. As other phones fall apart in the house I replace them with these. The display is great. The stored numbers and speakerphone options are good to use. My original phone purchase in this system was 3 years ago and the original still works great. I just wish that you could network the stored number lists on all the phones so you could update in one place instead of each phone.
Great reception, features, range, quality.......2007-06-15
I originally bought 2 of these with an answering machine unit and was so impressed I added a 3rd one, replacing the last hardwired phone I had.
The range of these is pretty good... I can wander around my 1/2 acre and still get great reception to the base unit.
The ability to upload pictures or make your own ring tones is pretty cool. It took me a year or two to actually do that since the stock images and rings were suitable, but it's fun to try things out.
Also it's nice that the batteries in the unit aren't some custom battery back...just plain old NiMH, so if they ever get to the point where they don't hold a charge, you can get spares just about anywhere they have batteries (or even some alkaline AA's in a pinch, just don't try charging it if you do that...emergency only) :)
Quality Product.......2007-03-28
We have used the base unit for 2 years and loved it so I ordered 4 additional handsets. The clarity is excellent, and easy to program even for a senior citzen. The new handsets are the same with the exception that I can't program and change the screen color like the original. DR Roth shipped extremely fast. We had the hand sets within 2days of ordering from NY to rural central WA
great clarity.......2007-03-11
I ordered this as my third V-tech phone to replace a Panasonic I had in our bedroom. I have the base v-tech with the answering machine in my kitchen and another v-tech in rec room. The Panasonic in our bedroom had poor voice quality (it was rather old) and I continually had to leave the room and switch phones. So now I'm happy because the V-techs have very good clarity!!
Great Phones.......2007-02-22
I already owed two of these phones and needed to add handsets. The phones did not disappoint me. They are easy to use and from my previous experience have not had any issues at all. I have used my orginal set for almost 3 years.

Terrible Sound, inconsistant at best.......2007-11-19
I invested in this phone set 2 years ago. At first they worked fine, but after signing up for DSL I started having trouble - lots of trouble.
At times when talking on the phone all of a sudden I can't hear the person on the other end. Sometimes I get a high pitched squeal in the phone. Other times I hear steady clicking. I have the DSL filters installed on all outlets and I have had the phone company test the lines. There are so many problems with these phones I can't even name them all.
I have a Uniden 5.8Ghz phone that works perfectly and I've had that phone for 3 to 4 years, if not more. I used to trust AT&T, but I'll never buy another AT&T phone again.
Please, don't waste your money!
Excellent System.......2007-10-31
It has everything described in the product features. The best feature I love is the call screening feature. After one ring the voice prompt announces the caller's number. If no number is showing, it will say "Unknown Caller." I also assigned personalized rings and could easily identify the caller (placed in my directory).
Will buy again.......2007-10-18
I bought this phone when it first came out and have been quite happy with it. It has taken a lot of abuse and kept on working. I recently had headset die after repeated abuse over several years and it finally died. We tried Panasonic top of the line phones but found sound quality terrible by comparison. GE Dect Phone set of 4 extensions was given to me, but never worked quite as well. I will buy another AT&T (VTech) phone of the same model. It served me well for several years and sounded better than the competition. I really like the speakerphone in handset feature when I am on conference calls. It is easy to switch back to headset, and the mute button is also well placed. There are features that could be better, like ringtones, and phone list sharing between handsets, but my family prefers this phone.
JUNK!.......2007-09-11
We've owned this phone for over two years, and have continuously had the problem of the handset not charging when in the base. We actually sent the first unit back to Amazon, when this first started happening, and got a replacement...same problem. I've tried replacing the rechargeable batteries...same problem. Just bought a new Panasonic DECT set from Costco, so the AT&T is going in the trash (where it should have gone long ago). DO NOT BUY!!!!
I don't understand.......2007-07-17
I don't understand why this said no reviews when I reviewed it in June, 2006 & this is what I said.
For the first week, this was a great phone. We loved it so much, that we ordered another handset. The 2nd week we had it, the very day the new expandable handset came, I pick up this phone, the the main button would not work, and the bottom row buttons would not work. I called AT&T, she said to clean with a soft cloth (did not work). If that did not work to send to Amazon for replacement or refund. I'm getting a refund on both, I'm not paying $170+ for a phone + the extra handset that works for 2 weeks, even if this was only a lemon. Oh yes, I'm still stuck with $15 worth of batteries. If I could, It would be "0 STARS"
I've order a Panasonic, which my cousin told me to get in the first place. I order from Amazon. So I hope not difficulties in getting my refund. I've never had any problems with Amazon.

Basic DirecTV dish.......2006-11-11
This dish works to receive single satellite non-HD DirecTV. I put it up myself using simple tools. It took about one and a half hours including finding and tweaking signal on the satellite. (The Sony receiver I have has a
function for aiming the dish, and I presume all sat receivers have this. It is simple.) Works great.
