Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse - BX3-00008 ( Slate Gray ) -
Customer Reviews:
What can be wrong with a mouse?.......2008-01-01
Convenient in hand, immediately shuts down when the receiver is disconnected from the laptop. Nothing to complain about.
Did not test the battery life - I'm using it for less then a month.
Good Wireless Mouse.......2007-12-31
Installation was a snap. No problem there. Mouse response is very good. Comfortable to use (even for my big hands). Very precise. I do a lot of graphic design with a pen/tablet, and this mouse rivals that for precision. Very happy so far.
Perfect.......2007-12-31
I bought this mouse along with a cleaning kit off of Amazon for my brother for Christmas.
I was very afraid of paying good money for a mouse that may be too small, and I risked it. It is definately worth the buy. The battery life is fantastic and the size isn't too small, even for man hands. The fact that the USB thing attaches to the bottom while traveling is wonderful.
All in all worth the buy.
Very Iffy.......2007-12-30
After all the hype of the wireless mouse, I decided to figure I'd go for the best known brand. Microsoft. Come to find out, their product, which I paid about thirty dollars for, is cheap. The USB receiver broke and I found myself trying to fiddle with it to get it to work. It's really a waste of time and definitely not a good investment.
What can I say? It works!.......2007-12-29
I've used this plug and play mouse on Windows and Mac machines without fail. The use is as simple as it looks. Without reading the manual, I was able to pop open the top of the mouse, put in a battery, and then plug in the USB dongle. No software needed. I love that the USB dongle clicks into the bottom of the mouse for travel too. Been running on the same battery for 3 months now without fail.
I also have to commend the form factor. Usually, when a mouse isn't designed well it feels strange to hold. This one had it right, with a right-side indentation that allows the ring and pinkie finger (for right-handed users) to fall a little.
I'd highly suggest this product to anyone looking for a simple, easy mouse replacement.

Great Device Performance Considering its Cost!!!.......2007-12-31
There are better microsoft models around than this one, but if you don't need an "HD" quality for a single webcam, this is a very great option!.
Great features like micro incorporaded, ready for windows live, etc.
good webcam.......2007-12-31
good first time webcam. gives what you need. picture is clear and the sound is amazing. great buy!
quality.......2007-12-25
the quality/resolution wasn't amazing
i was under the impression that the megapixels would suffice for video chat.. i was expecting better quality
The Easiest!.......2007-12-23
This was my first purchase of this kind. I did not know what to expect once I received it, but found that it was simple and basic. Step by step instructions made it quick and painless to install. I bought my mom a Logitech and she's had nothing but problems getting it hooked up to her computer. This webcam has a focus option, tilt, one button connect and the picture is wonderful with it's clearity and color! I am considering buying another for my mom instead of what she has and would recommend this one to anybody!
Great product.......2007-12-18
This ia great purchase for the price paid. The camera is usefull to video chat sessions. Besides the still pictures quality is not so great, the video quality is acceptable to use on a video chat session. If you need to have a lot of video chat session for work, this won't be a great producto for you. This products is for home user and/or user who videochat sometimes. The mic built in works perfectly.

almost perfect - if it has a forward button.......2007-12-30
I bought this after my other Microsoft Notebook mouse (wireless but not bluetooth) died. I have been wanting this bluetooth mouse ever since I bought the new Thinkpad T61 with bluetooth built-in, so it's actually good that the old mouse went belly up. This new mouse is similar to the old one in terms of size and feel. I have medium sized hands for a woman so it's reasonably comfortable. The package contains batteries as well as a carrying case. Microsoft thought of all the littl details, except that forward button. What's so hard about adding a forward button if the back button is provided? That's why I took away one star - actually I only want to take away half a star but there's no way to do that. Performance wise it's very good - perhaps a bit too sensitive but I am getting used to it. Once set up it connects almost instantly to my Thinkpad. So far no disconnections yet. Also I have used it on all kinds of surfaces including my thighs, bed linens/blankets and the palm rest of my thinkpad. Very happy with this purchase. How long will it last remains to be seen. My previous wireless mouse lasted for almost 2 yrs - while my very old wired Microsoft optical mouse lasts forever (still going and going...).
Great Mouse!.......2007-12-30
Got this mouse for my husband for Christmas and it has worked out great. He uses it with his Apple Laptop. He didn't miss the "back" button because he wasn't used to using it in the first place. It is very small and compact, easy button for turning on/off, light is lite on the top to know that it is on.
Great pick!
Works fine for me, great for the kids.......2007-12-27
No problems getting this configured - plug in the batteries and it works. This was my first bluetooth peripheral and it is very cool how it just works without wires, transmitters, etc. I have used wireless mice before and this is a much cleaner solution (but this comment would apply to any bluetooth mouse).
The mouse is responsive and convenient - but perhaps just a shade too small for my hands, although my kids think it is just perfect. Nice to travel with, so much better than using the track pad.
Great Product...Good enough for UPS to steal.......2007-12-21
Well I was really excited to recieve this product. I had searched for some time to find the right bluetooth mouse, and one that would work nativly with my new laptop. I made the purchase and began the waiting process. About a week later I checked the status on Amazon to see that the product had been damaged. Upon further review on the UPS website I found that the product had not been damaged but instead during the shipping process (from one UPS facility to another) the packaged had been opened and emptied. The UPS website went as far as to say they threw away the empty package. I contacted both Amazon and UPS to discuss what happend, Amazon promptly refunded the purchase and UPS refused to discuss it. So all in all im sure its a great product, and I hope the theif from UPS is enjoying his early Christmas gift. I would like to commend Amazon on their no hastle policy for this, but condem them for choosing UPS as a shipping partner.
bad mouse.......2007-12-21
I returned the mouse to the dealer who sent it to me because it was defective, and I have not heard anything in return.
Might Amazon be able to help me?

Putting the power of Windows Live Messenger at your fingertips, the Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 takes instant messaging with family and friends to a new level of sight and sound by offering great video and crystal-clear audio with acoustic noise cancellation.
The LifeCam VX-6000 features one-touch access to Windows Live Messenger.
|
Enjoy megapixel resolution, a wide angle lens, and a 3x digital zoom.
|
Plus, you get advanced features, such as automatic face tracking software and low-light adjustment, so you feel like you're right there. The VX-6000 also adds several key enhancements over the LifeCam VX-3000, including high definition video capabilities, a wide angle lens, a 3x digital zoom, and a high-speed USB connection. View a comparison of the LifeCam VX-3000 and VX-6000.
The Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 is optimized for Windows Live Messenger, which is used by the largest worldwide instant messenger community with over 200 million users. Three key features give you a superior Windows Live Experience. First, the Windows Live Call Button makes it easy to start a video call. Simply press the button to see who's online, and you're on your way to a video call. Second, with the LifeCam Dashboard you can access video effects and control your webcam from the Windows Live Messenger window. Lastly, with One-Touch Blogging, a single click allows you to upload to Windows Live Spaces, an "online scrapbook" that lets you easily post blogs, photo albums, and personal music lists.
The VX-6000's automatic face tracking software, which takes advantage of the camera's pan, tilt, and zoom controls, follows you so you don't disappear off-screen. The VX-6000's wide angle lens lets you fit more people on screen so everyone can join in the fun. Alternatively, the 3x digital zoom brings you so close that it's almost like sitting opposite the other person. The camera's high definition sensor makes it possible to experience true 1.3 megapixel video and 5.0 interpolated megapixel photos.
The camera automatically adjusts for low-light conditions for improved video quality, and a built-in unidirectional microphone with acoustic noise cancellation provides crystal-clear audio. Video effects give you a fun way to express yourself, and last but not least, the camera's universal attachment base fits on most monitors, including flat screens. Alternatively, the camera can sit directly on your desk.
Note that while the VX-6000 is optimized for use with Windows Live Messenger, Microsoft LifeCams also work with other instant messaging programs, such as Yahoo Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger.

Static intolerable on my Dell Laptops.......2008-01-02
I bought two of these cameras for my Dell D620 and Inspiron 6100 laptops and on each system I encountered extreme noise and static in the audio that I was not able to eliminate.
grandparents must have item.......2007-12-31
good product to have specially if you have out of state grandkids. easy install and almost a no brainer installation.
Excellent.......2007-12-31
This webcam has an excellent quality picture, it's easy to use. The only thing that you should do, is to download the new driver and software from microsoft's site because the driver that came with it crashes the Windows XP system. Download the new driver and install it before installing the webcam itself.
Poor Mic, but otherwise Good.......2007-12-19
Our family has a number of these web cameras so that we can better stay in touch with each other.
Unfortunately, it this model has one critical flaw -- the microphone on all four of the units only works intermittently! This serious flaw causes the microphone to transmit static at full volume even if the room is so quiet that you could hear a pin drop (this is not cell phone induced noise either). We have been unable to find the cause or a solution (rebooting and many other attempts to fix the mic have not been helpful; nor has a replacement camera Amazon graciously provided).
If you aren't worried about a mic which does not work more often than it does, then this camera has a lot of good things going for it. Installation is easy, the monitor mount is convenient, and the wide angle lens is wide enough to squeeze the family in from time to time. I have only tried it with Windows Live Messanger, but it works well with that application (modulo the mic issues).
Overall, I do not recommend this camera simply because of the microphone issues which far too frequently occur on every one of the units I have experience with.
Great for its purpose, could be a little less $$$ though.......2007-12-02
I've had this for an entire summer and use it for a variety of purposes, video conference, having fun with the microphone with friends, talking to people and such and it does its purpose. The resolution is greater than any webcam I've ever seen or used and the thing is very durable (I've knocked it down at least thirty times, no exaggeration, and my cat has done so at least a dozen times, it falling down, smacking into my computer then falling into the dark) and yet it is still as good as new. The 1.3 megapixel resolution is great, the webcam can look like a real professional camera like one that you'd pay $100-250 for, that is, if you can get the right lighting.
It is sort of picky on lighting, I find that it does work perfectly fine and still look better than all the webcams I've seen if it has low light but it is still grainy and such and is sort of annoying, to get the best quality I have to light myself up completely and such and it can be an annoying process but not THAT annoying. It has a 6 feet cord which is useful for mobility and it has zoom, though, albeit, I never use the zoom often it is there if you want/need it. You can easily focus it in on things and close up or far away if focused correctly you can see extremely fine, precise, and great detail. There are a number of things you can adjust on it, too, which makes it a good buy.
All in all, I like Microsoft, good company, great webcam, the current price its at (at the time of this review) is $42, that is a lot more acceptable then the $75 I spent on this thing, it's not worth that much! A little overpriced, sometimes I wonder if the Logitech Quickcam would be better since I have great experience with Logitech, but, that's for you to decide!
Pros:
Good quality
Good effects
Great pictures in right lighting
Takes videos and audio, audio can be taken alone without video which is a bonus
Pictures can be taken and enhanced to 5.0 megapixels
Good resolutions
Bad:
Price is a bit too high
Higher resolutions (like the 1.3 megapixel resolution) can be REALLY laggy on the computer, and such anything past 800x600 I find very laggy.
Has low light but requires a lot of light for photos that aren't grainy at all and actually look like a real high quality photo.
All-in-All, I give the Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000 4 stars out of 5. Choose between Logitech and Microsoft, they're both great, I don't think you'll regret your purchase, I DO recommend the Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000, but, you should be wary of the things I said :).

He loves it.......2008-01-02
I bought this for my husband for his laptop. He is in the military and when deployed, uses his laptop for gaming. He loves this wireless mouse. It is larger than the notebook mouses so it is very user friendly for a man's hands. I wasn't real sure which mouse to purchase but decided on this middle of the road priced model. He was very pleased with this particular piece and only proves that even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.
So much better than the ordinary mouse!.......2007-12-12
This is a perfect mouse for me. It's larger so your hand actually rests on the mouse (which is how it's supposed to fit by the way). The controls are in comfortable positions. For anyone who uses the mouse a lot - this is a truly ergonomic choice.
Rock Star Mouse.......2007-12-03

Magellan Crossover is a winner.......2008-01-02
Very easy to use and it made rapid route calculations when we decided to change course. I didn't think it would work as well as it does, and I'm very pleased. Points of interest like food and gas come in handy.
Magellan Crossover 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Road and Trail Navigator .......2008-01-01
Good product does a ton... easy to use after a learning the ins and outs a little big but still very handy... good instructions does have trouble in tall buildings (NYC) Overall a good investment.
Magellqn hates their customers.......2007-12-28
I got a Magellan Roadmate 360 product as a very nice gift 2 years ago, this Christmas the power port got wonky so I emailed Magellan for information on where to take it for repair. I got an email back saying they no longer support this "older model" and that the best I can do is to try to trade it in for a refurb at a price. I called Customer service to see what the deal was, and I was on hold/transferred/on hold etc....after 20 min I decided I have no wish to provide this company with any more of my money. I realize that technology changes swiftly, but this is a minor repair and the thing was over $500 and is only 2 years old. I can get a computer repaired after 2years. They Really dislike to have to deal with customers and I would recommend you not purchase any products due to complete lack of support/customer care!
I Love It, But It Isn't Perfect.......2007-12-25
I keep learning new things this little box can do. I love it! I don't know how I ever got along without it.
BUT it cannot "find" my house - just my street. If I try to plug in my address, it doesn't even take me to my street, but the nest one over.
I live in the country and go to people's homes to fix their computers. It is "wrong" about 10 percent of the time, but usually can at least get me close.
There are streets that were built in the last 3-4 years it doesn't have. We all know fast food places change hands all the time. You can't update this information. And some things are just plain wrong. I could accept the problems if we could occasionally get upgrades to fix them, but if we can, I haven't discovered this yet.
The attachment kit for the car is ugly and cumbersome. I went to a fabric shop and got some velcro tape. Put the hooked strip (actually two, one for the driver, one for the passenger) in the car and put the soft side strip on the back of the unit and it has been great. Easy to get in and out so I don't have it in the car to get stolen. Now I can do this to other cars as well.
It isn't as intuitive as I would like, and it does hang up from time to time for no reason. I guess they are still really refining these things.
It needs a one click volume button.
We have used it for hiking, geocaching, bringing pictures to family, listening to music in the car, and finding alternate ways on long trips. When using long non-interstate trips, it is often grossly off in its time estimates and maps out ridiculous routes. When I trusted it to take me on a 90 minute trip I take all the time, it took three hours to get there. Another time it said it would take three hours for a trip that took less than two.
The voice (we call her Gladys) is sometimes difficult to understand because she doesn't pause in the right place and often mispronounces things.
So it isn't as smart as it thinks it is! The 90% of the time she does work is well worth it. All in all, a great little machine as long as you don't expect perfection.
Does an OK Job.......2007-12-12
Seems to work OK but has some minor problems. In my opinion, the POI editor is horrible but I don't operate by Lat/Long - I use addresses. The supplied POI list is very skimpy. It also does not seem to convert CSV format POI lists seem to be able to the Magellan proprietary format either, though it claims it will. I also haven't been able to get an update for the 2006 map that does not shows roads I know have been there for over two years. Hopefully I can get Magellan to correct those deficiencies. It also disagrees with what I know about getting around town but for all that I'm glad I bought it. I like being able to add Way-points that are based on Lat/Long It helps for walking tours finding your way back next time. The Vehicle Nav system can also find them. That is it's real selling point. You don't need a separate GPS system to walk and ride. I'd like to see a 30 or 60 Gig upgrade with an Aircraft Nav system added to the box but this one does fine and I do recommend it within it's limits.

Adds depth to movie soundtracks.......2007-12-29
Nice rumble! If you have a good pair of floorstanding speakers with decent bass you probably don't need a sub, or you'll need one more powerful than this, but it worked out perfectly for me paired with the SSF-5000s.
Pleased with the price performance.......2007-12-28
Met my expectations. It worked and sounded great. It's not a thundering unit but it acheived everything I wanted from it. I really like the auto shut off / turn on feature where it goes into standby if the sterio is off or the sub woofer is not called upon from the sterio system
Wow, it's amazing !.......2007-12-28
What a difference a subwoofer can make.
I rate 4 star because the refurbished one
is not as new as described. But it works really great when I hooked
it with my YAMAHA HTR-6030SL!
Great sub. Rating is because of shipment........2007-12-22
First, the subwoofer.
I have one of the Sony STG amplifiers which I purchased recently from CCity. This sub seems custom made for that amp, as it works flawlessly. To those that say the bass is "tinny", you're not configuring right or your source is off. If your source doesn't have much bass you're not going to get much thump. Also, it's a subwoofer; it's not supposed to be "clear sound". It's just the bass. Your other 5-7 speakers should be giving you the clear sound you desire. In other words don't expect this to be your only speaker. That's not how it works.
The best way to use this is to turn the dials on the sub to the max, then adjust your amplifier's sub volume to a comfortable level. Mine is at halfway and I get sufficient thump (I'm in an upstairs unit so I can't put it too deep). If you have HD service, it's the best way to test your new sub. Now, it's important to note that this sub supports both line-level (RCA plug) and speaker-level (speaker wire) inputs, however the line-level really is the better choice.
Lastly, the auto-power option is pointless; I recommend just disabling it, and plugging your subwoofer's power cable into the back of your amplifier. If you want security, your amplifier should then be plugged into a UPS surge protector with battery backup; that should ensure sufficient power to both. Plus it will make sure your sub is only on when you actually need it. The auto-power option will just get annoying, because it turns the sub off when it doesn't detect a certain level of bass; well obviously most broadcasts don't have eternal bass,, so it will "click" on whenever the bass kicks in, and it's just a bother.
So why is my rating so low? The way Amazon shipped it. They used FedEx Overnight...well, FedEx is a VERY poor shipper. They don't follow the rules. FedEx is supposed to require signatures for 2-Day or Next Day Air shipments, for security reasons. This box (which was just a regular box indicating a very expensive piece of equipment was inside) was just left at my front door, no signature. I didn't even know it was there until I got home from work and saw it there. It could have been stolen and I couldn't prove otherwise since there was no signature requirement. This complex has a policy for overnight couriers where they leave it at the front office and one of the staff signs for the package, that way I know it got received by an authorized person. Didn't happen. This same deal happens every single time Amazon uses FedEx. It bothers me they that they choose to use them. I'd rather have a one day delay with UPS.
Sounds more like 200 Watts!!!!.......2007-12-18
I've heard alot of subs, and for the price, this is one of my favorites!!!!!

Not bad........2007-12-22
Great keyboard for the price. Has a nice high-quality feel, seems durable.
Lost a star because the software for it is weak. Doesn't allow for as much customization as I would like. But that's a small point.
Otherwise, it's just plug-n-play.
Excellent keyboard even if it cost twice as much.......2007-12-22
This is the only "ergonomic" keyboard I've ever used that didn't wear me out just trying to cope with it. The fact that it's also just about the cheapest keyboard I've seen just makes it a bigger bargain. While I would always recommend someone actually trying the keyboard in-person first, this is a very mild form of ergonomic design and for those not needing a wireless keyboard, I highly recommend this keyboard.
Inexpensive, good design, low quality.......2007-12-21
The slight curve design has alleviated a great deal of pain on my wrists and the shortcut keys are great for fast access to the email, web, etc.
This is my third MS Comfort Curve 2000 series keyboard. All the keys are designed very cheaply and will not take a great deal of repeated use, especially if you are heavy handed. The enter key on the two previous keyboards has been destroyed due to repeated use. The remaining keys do not receive the repeated pounding and have held up. Another downside is it will not work with a USB -> PS/2 adapter.
At the time, this was the only keyboard one the market that had the slight curve I desired and the main reason I purchased two after the original even with the inherent key design flaw. Recent research indicates Logitech has a similar keyboard that cost more, but may be more reliable. I will need to try it out.
Pros: Gently natural curve, inexpensive, good for light use
Cons: Keys will not take heavy handed or a great deal of usage (enter key); will not work with USB-PS/2 adapter.
My suggestion would to spend more money for a product from a different manufacturer that may be more reliable.
A great keyboard.......2007-11-30
I was using a bundled Del keyboard, but it was really awful in terms of quality. From every aspect, I am sure this keyboard will make you happy. Most ergonomics-designed keyboards are hard to use and make you spend some time on adapting yourself to them. But this one will free you from the burden. Easy to use and good quality. It's a good keyboard.
Affordable and Comfortable.......2007-11-21
Prior to owning this keyboard I was using a standard keyboard with no design modifications for ergonomics. For over a year I suffered from pain which I could only conclude was caused by typing so frequently as I tend to spend at least 14 hours a day in front of a computer whether work related or for personal use. After purchasing this keyboard I haven't had any further issues. As slight as the ergonomics of this keyboard are, they were quite enough to offset the unnatural posture required by my other keyboards. A solid keyboard at a cheap price and fully functionaly with Vista Ult. No complaints.

Awesome keyboard.......2007-12-27
I got this as a replacement to my Logitech keyboard. It is AWESOME! I love the quiet keys, and all of the shortcut buttons make working so much more efficient.
Microsoft strikes out again.......2007-12-01
Mushy keys, poor sound control buttons, frequent failure of F lock, and weak flip out feet underneath (they broke the first day I had it) make this another bust of a purchase from Microsoft. Someday I'll learn that the professional reviewers must be in MS' pocket to recommend this mediocre product. Wish I hadn't purchased it. Got a logitech keyboard and it's the real deal.
Great media keyboard.......2007-11-19
I have really enjoyed this keyboard, the ergonomics work well for me and the media features are great. The size is a bit large if you are constrained for space.
I haven't had any issues with this keyboard, I would buy it again and recommend it.
Research your toys, first........2007-11-17
I bought this keyboard for my brother-in-law due to what I
feel is the best deal for his money, both in whomever sells
it, and compared with the more expensive similar items
in the same category, in other words, always getting your best
money's worth. He's very happy with my selection, the product and
we both feel that he got his money's worth
By the way, will somebody wish me a happy birthday, 79yrs as of
today, 16Nov07.
A Great Buy.......2007-11-12
Most big-box computer stores package in a mouse. This is a great buy, works well for someone who is just looking for a keyboard. The quiet touch is nice as well.

Customer Reviews:
OK for typing, terrible for gaming........2007-12-30
If you are a gamer, do not get this keyboard. It's sticky and sluggish for AWSD movement.
I have to go back to my wired keyboard when I play games.
Good if you Type slow.......2007-12-29
I consider all of the keys that I hit to be important. I had to slow down in order to have all of my key strokes register. They mouse was great. Comfortable and responsive. I am trying to find this specific mouse so that I can purchase it separately
Good except skips keys.......2007-12-28
I like the ergnomics of this keyboard and the the quiet typng, but as you can prbably see, there is a serious problem with skipped letters. I can hardly write a single sentence without an issue. I think it's gotten to the point where I need to retur the item and maybe try a different brand.
Keyboard -- nice, Mouse -- yuck!.......2007-12-27
I've had this keyboard/mouse pair for some time now, and I've always thought I was just killing the batteries, or I just couldn't click to save my life. Turns out I'm not the only one that can't make the mouse click half the time! The keyboard is nice enough, but the mouse stinks. Left-clicks (the normal click) are lost quite often, as if the hardware just isn't registering the mouse. I'd say I have a defective unit, but google it a little and you'll see I'm not the only one. Many people have problems getting this mouse to register left-mouse clicks. And a mouse that doesn't click is as useful as ... um... might be the most useless thing I can think of.
Don't waste your time with the unit, buy something else.
Grrr... just had to click on "Edit" 7 times to get mouse to register my attempt to edit my own post!
I hate it........2007-12-24
This item sucks. The mouse especially. It will randomly quit responding to mouse clicks. I can move the mouse, and hover over an item, I can click it. But nothing happens. But, leaving the pointer in place, I can click on the touch pad on my laptop and it will work. The keyboard (just like now while I'm writing this review) will randomly "drop letters" so even though I hit the key, the letter won't show up on the screen as I'm typing. So, I'll have to back up, retype what I'm typing and then go forward. Sometimes, even that doesn't work. Sometimes, I'll keep hitting the key and it just doesn't make any difference. Then, I'll have to hit the sync button on the receiver and hit the little connect button on the bottom of my keyboard, and it'll start working again. I've read online where I'm not the only person having this problem. But, there seems to be no solution to it.
So, would I recommend this product? No, I have to go buy a new keyboard and mouse because this is just getting so frustrating.
