And if I'd wanted a battery operated radio, I'd have bought one!
We cranked and cranked for about 10 min total, the charging light went on, but it only worked when we put in AA batteries. When I called Jensen with the 800 number in the manual, I got the message that all circuits were busy- this was during the day on a weekday.
I am returning it, it's a dud. No wonder it was $15 instead of $50, like the others I see around.

Why do you purchase a self-powered radio? For emergencies! This radio is a great value. My kids played with it (to test it) and then I put it in our emergency kit. It is easy to crank, powered up easily and has good reception.

The purpose for buying this radio is the hand crank feature. For the one I bought, after the factory charge died, the hand crank
did not recharge. In addition I tried a charger, but it also failed to do the job. All that worked was batteries.
This item is marketed under a number of names including Jensen, Innovage, and Lifelong. They're all the same radio except for the name. From other reviews I would gather that you can get a good one but that's an iffy situation.
Oh well, I bought it just to play around with it anyway.

This is very good for the money. Yes, it's larger than a "pocket" radio would be, but it's quite light. AM, FM and Weather bands all work well, and I found that a local TV station came in at the high end of the Weather band.

The good things: Good sound. Both AM and FM stations are clear and there are plenty of them. One minute crank provided me with 40 minutes of play time. Weather channel works fine.
The bad things: It's huge! Much larger than I thought it would be. The tuning knob has too much play. Its not easy to tune stations in. Overall, it's perfect for emergencies, and that's what it's suppose to be.

I had a flood today (thanksgiving dishwasher clog) which was protected by this system. No alarm. I checked everything for power, dust, cobwebs, even put the sensor into water deliberately. Nothing. It just doesn't work.
I'm buying other brands from amazon today to check for floods - I can't afford junk in an monitoring position for my house.
Flood detector doesn't work at all........2007-06-10
I bought six of these detectors since I have a Visonic wireless alarm system. I have installed many other Visonic devices and all them work perfectly. I'm talking about PIR detectors, fire detectors and door/windows detectors. I was very happy with the overall performance of my system until I bough these flood detectors. Flood detector is supposed to work when water makes a "bridge" between the inside and outside metallic part at the end of detector. The best way that I could find that system was working in theory is with a small electric cable, if you make a bridge with the electric cable between the inside and outside parts the red led works perfectly and signal is transmitted, but it never works when you try to make this bridge with water. I feel that I lost 250 $ because as I said I bought six of these detectors and none of them work in any way with water.

Awesome sound, but brief life.......2007-11-26
This was a bargain at $99 from an electronics store that gives best buys. I bought it in 2003 and the bass was incredible with my home theater, it really added to the movie experience and it pumped up bass in music too.
However, after just 4 years, it seems to have simply stopped working for some reason. It still turns on and makes some kind of hum when the cable from the receiver is plugged into it, so it did not blow a fuse or burn out completely, but there is no longer any sound coming from it no matter what I do. Too bad, I am now used to the house rattling during thunderstrikes and explosions in movies, and I will have to replace it soon (with a, hopefully, more reliable brand).

Surprisingly good sound from such a bargain unit. The blue led's add little to nothing to the value, though they are kind of novel. I expected them to pulse to the beat, but they just cast off their blue glow. Luckily you can switch them off seperately from the sound, so the unit is satisfactory!

had this subwofer for about 5 years and all of a sudden it unexplainably stopped working. but when it worked it shook the house. great sound for the price just dont depend on having it forever.

I bought one of these subs several years ago and am continually amazed by the quality for the cost. I have heard subs in stores costing over $300 that I honestly thought sounded similar to this sub.
The important features are not forgotten about, either. There are RCA and speaker ins/and outs for both high gain and low gain inputs. The crossover is very useful, which I usually set quite low, around 70Hz for that really deep sound.
And at 125-watts, although it won't blast your neighbors off their porch, this guy can really start shaking the walls when you turn it up.
In addition, it is a really great looking sub, especially with the blue lights on the feet.
I have been into subs for quite some time, and I am challenged to find a better deal on any entry level sub. In addition, I would bet that you could convince most people that this is a sub worth multiple times what you bought it for.
