The Coby CT-P8800 is a 2.4 GHz analog cordless phone with built-in 50 auto scan channels. The filtered sound system gets considerably less noise than conventional cordless telephones because of a special circuit which delivers the clearest possible reception. With the 50 channel auto scan, you can easily find and lock on to the clearest channel for any call. Store up to 20 frequently called numbers with the telephone number storage. Ensure greater privacy with the built-in security code with 65,536 combinations that prevents use of your telephone line by another nearby cordless phone. The data port can be used to connect the phone with a fax machine or modem.
The built-in digital answering system records up to 14 minutes of messages, including memos you can save for yourself. The Caller ID with call-waiting feature has a 40-name-and-number memory. With the big 3-line LCD display you can view name, number, date and time of calls. You can select a preferred language operation in English, Spanish, and French. Other call features include one touch callback from Caller ID list, and voicemail message waiting indicator.
The base station has an in-use/charge indicator and 9V DC input jack for power. The handset sports volume control, auto-standby when headset is placed onto base after conversation, built-in 2.5mm jack for headset, last number redial, flash, pause, and tone/pulse switch. The phone is wall or desk-mountable.

Not what I expected.......2007-04-21
I love Coby's little DVD player. The quality is superb, so I thought the phone would be a good purchase based on the DVD quality. No, it wasn't. The handset sound is very poor quality, almost like a radio station that isn't quite coming in right. My Radioshack phones for near the same price are much better. I do recommend their little 7 inch DVD player though--that thing is tough. Also for the first time Amazon didn't get the order right - the phone was supposed to be black and was silver which only enhances the cheap look!

Useless Customer Service No Support.......2007-12-17
I bought this phone used and it had missing AC adapter. I was hoping to be able to obtain it somewhere as well as an user's manual. What a major disappointment - you'd expect that product from such a major manufacturer would have parts available everywhere, first class support, web site with all kinds of information - well... forget it! This telephone uses very unique power supply - 6VAC there is no way to find it anywhere. Manufacturer's web site is utterly useless. Customer service 800 numbers are backed up, representatives based i India or who knows where and offer very limited help if any, most likely they will send you to a Sears or RadioShack store. Yes this is a discontinued model but not that old and this lack of support raises concern for the current line of products from Thompson, GE and RCA - once they become discontinued are they to be junked? I know one thing - I won't take chances and stay clear of this manufacturer's line of products.

Many comments have already been made on this product. I can add a couple here:
Clarity: I'm on conference calls all the time. The voice quality is great. Unlike other speaker phones I used before, I can talk hands-free without people complaining about voice quality.
Volume: You can turn up volume really loud if you want to, -- a plus if you have to step away from the phone during conference calls.
Overall, the unit meets my expectation. And that's NOT a plain statement, because many phones have failed.

I have a small business (4 employees) and we really didn't need an actual phone system yet so I decided to give these try. It's funny though because when people walk in the office, they think it is a phone system because the phones look and function very well. I have had them for about 4 months now and so far so good!

IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE HOLD FEATURE OFTEN, RUN AWAY!! CHECKED WITH SUPPORT AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO WAY OF DISABLING THIS ANNOYING "FEATURE".
OTHERWISE HAS ALL BASIC FUNCTIONALITY THAT YOU CAN EXPECT FOR A SMALL BUSINESS PHONE.

The screen on this phone doesn't have full or appropriate view. The letters/numbers are not completely formed. The instruction for setting up the phone were not user-friendly. It still isn't working in full compacity for me after 1 month. I am not super impressed with this product. I wish I had kept the box... I would have sent it back.
