Amazon.com Product Description
The Uniden TRU8866 cordless phone system offers an attractive bundle of features with room to grow. 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission offers increased call clarity and security while the impressive caller ID capabilities ensure that you'll never miss a call or lose an important number. Plus, a duplex speakerphone in the base and a standard speakerphone in the handset provide hands-free conversation options.
Housed in a professional-looking, no-nonsense black case, the phone's memory is shared between the caller ID log and the programmable memory dialing--100 names and numbers in the handset, and 100 more in the base unit. You can locate numbers using a alphabetic search tool similar to that of a typical cell phone, and the most commonly dialed numbers can be assigned to 10 speed dial presets accessed on the base unit.
The TRU8866 offers room to grow. It's expandable to 10 handsets (model #TCX860, one included). With additional handsets, you can transfer calls, transfer memory locations, and even use them as an intercom around the house or as a room monitoring system (baby monitor).
Additional features include conferencing, trilingual menu display options, distinctive ring tones, mute, hold, redial, and headset compatibility (headset sold separately). Even with additional handsets, the TRU8866 requires just one phone jack. Simply plug the base unit into a phone jack, and the additional handsets will configure themselves to "talk" directly with the base unit.

Customer Reviews:
Wonderful phone system, especially with a home office.......2007-12-18
We purchased this phone when my wife started working from home and required us to need two phone lines for our house. This expandable system has worked wonderfully, we now have 2 expansion units to go with this base unit, and have had no problems. The speaker phone works well - which my wife uses most of the day for work. We appreciate the voicemail notification light, just have to make sure and check our voicemail to make the light stop blinking at night. The buttons have a nice layout and just have nothing really negative to say about this system. Got the job done nicely for us.
Clear.......2007-11-11
These phones are great. Super easy to set up and work really well in my big apt.
The light up display and MUTE functions are nice so I can see the phone ringing without having to hear it ring.
I can also see if someone is using the other line.
So far so good!
Excellent 2 line cordless speaker phone.......2007-10-26
I don't usually take the time to write a review about a product, but I felt compelled to share my positive experience with this phone.
I work at home and have a business need for a 2 line phone that is cordless and includes a decent speaker phone. I searched for several days before finding the Uniden TRU8866.
I noticed that some people had problems with their phones. I did not encounter any of the issues mentioned in other reviews. Some people complained that there is no answerig machine. I did not expect this feature since there is no mention of an answering machine in the product details or the product manual.
Listed below is my pro and con list after one week of heavy usage.
PROS:
Easy to setup
Easy to use
Many well thought out features
Very clear speaker phone
Great distance with the cordless handset
Excellent backlit screen
Call timer
Clear manual
Redial remembers last few numbers dialed
Does not interfere with my WiFi
Small footprint. Takes little desk space.
CONS:
None (Really)
Summary:
The Uniden TRU8866 is well built and designed. It offers two line capability, speaker phone, cordless handset, and many other useful features that will not interfere with your WiFi network. You will not be sorry with this phone. Just don't expect an answering machine. (LOL)
Good Job.......2007-10-04
Excellent product. Does what it claims to do with exceptional voice clarity for a cordless phone.
Observations Over the First Few Weeks.......2007-09-30
My prior cordless was a VTECH, that lasted for about 4 years, at which point the display became too hard to decipher. I purchased the Uniden for its sleek lines, many features, and brightly lit display.
The speaker phone is superb with excellent voice clarity. The phone illumitates brightly when an incoming call arrives. A mute feature allows one to stop the ringing while the call is coming in, if it is a call you wish not to answer. As a two line phone, you are able to designate which line will be operational when picked up from the handset. The belt clip is really sturdy and doesn't feel like it will break off.
I find the range of distance could use improvement. My old Vtech could get me down to my mailbox, about a 30 second walk away, but the Uniden will drop the call. Another thing I've noticed is that when a voice mail is left for me, the indicator light on the phone should be flashing, but isn't always. Still trying to figure that one out.
Oh yeah, when a call comes in on Caller ID from another area code, it doesn't appear with a 1, which is required where I live. If I want to save it in the phone book, the stored Caller ID number is useless, unless I go in and edit the entire number to include a 1. Its not intuitive, as I've tried a number of times but still haven't been able to add the 1.
Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the phone, and hope to work out these little bugs in the coming weeks.

EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS !!.......2007-11-15
THIS FULL FEATURE 2 LINE PHONE IS THE BEST SOLUTION FOR MY SMALL BUSINESS APPLICATION. EASY TO SETUP AND USE, GREAT QUALITY AND
PERFORMS PERFECTLY
Great phone but cannot adjust mic volume on headset.......2007-10-19
I got this phone for its two line caller id and speakerphone capability with the added capability to use a headset for teleconferences. The caller id and speakerphone work great.
The basic problem I had was that the Panasonic headset I ordered at the same time had no mic volume adjustment and many of the people I called reported that my voice was soft. There appears to be no solution for the mic volume problem other than buying an amplifier that costs about the same as the phone!
excellent phones.......2007-10-17
I had purchased AT&T phones because that is what I had for last 5 years, but the new phones were made in China and were a nightmare. So I researched these and found good reviews. Bought them and absolutely love them!! Would recommend them even for home use.
Weeks of research and it didn't work at all........2007-10-06
I had to replace my old AT&T 962 and wanted to use a headset with the new phone. After researching for weeks I ordered the Panasonic KX-TS3282B.
As soon as I unboxed the parts I noticed the handset was very bulky and felt like I was holding a shoe against my face. After connecting the phone to power I was disappointed to see there was no image on the display and none of the lights such as speakerphone, line1, or line2 would light. It would ring but was obnoxious. I suspect a bad power supply, so I returned the unit.
Good, solid performer.......2007-09-23
I am happy with this phone - it has more features than I need and the voice quality is adequate.

2-Line Panasonic cordless phone.......2007-11-29
I was specifically looking for a 2-line cordless phone that would hang on the wall. It was a challenge to find this. The Panasonic phone fit the bill and works great. If I had one complaint, it would be that there is only one voice mail message indicator on the phone. This means you have to pick up the phone and listen to the dial tone of each line to find out which line has the voice mail message. This, however, would not make me send the phone back or not purchase it again. I would definitely purchase this phone again.
Nice Phone.......2007-10-09
Panasonic KX-TG2480S 2.4 GHz 2.4GHz FHSS GigaRange Digital Cordless TelephoneI purchased this telephone because I needed a 2-line telephone for the wall in my kitchen that was compatible with the other Panasonic cordless phones in the rest of my home. Right out of the box, this phone did all I expected of it. It looks nice on the wall and works great. It has a 50 number regular memory and a 50 number caller-ID memory. A nice feature is once you set up the 50 number memory with name and number, and a call comes in, the name you have assigned to that number is what shows in the caller-ID window. This is usefull for the cell phone calls you receive which normally don't show the caller's name. I really like this phone and would definitely recommend it.
Better than most.......2007-09-18
Since there seems to be no thoroughly developed cordless phones available, the Panasonic is sort of like picking a presidential candidate: the lesser of the bad. It seems to be made better than most without the typical creaky plastic housing and the sound quality is fine. It also gives plenty of warning for low battery. For some reason, the dialing from memory is like it's second language. Slow and labored. I wish it had a simple way to turn the ringers on and off, not through a sometimes awkward menu gauntlet. And who knows why Panasonic doesn't offer a remote charger base. But credit where credit's due, I've had it for almost a year now with nary a problem.
Panasonic KX-TG2480S Phone.......2007-08-31
Needed a two line phone that included a visual flashing lite to notify us of unplayed 'voice mails'. Wanted a good looking and compact phone to fit on a small built in desk in our family room. Also our hearing is not the greatest and this is super clear and plenty loud (we turned it down). This meets all our needs, was a very good buy, arrived promptly. We have purchased several items thru Amazon and a couple from this vendor and are very happy with quality and service.
Decent 2-line phone for the price.......2007-08-28
Pros:
-CallerID on Call Waiting function.
-Wall mountable base.
-Can be quicky programmed with codes (direct commands).
-Temporary Ringer Off function compensates a bit for lack of DND.
-Operation in the 2.4GHz frequency range has much better coverage than 5.8GHz.
Cons:
-Callers often complain they can barely hear me speak. Voice enhancement (VE) and clarity booster are no help.
-Phone has no DND (Do Not Disturb) button.
-Handset does not display current time/date.
-Handset does not display time elapsed after call.
-Speakerphone only on handset, not base.
-User needs to press HOLD before picking each other line.
-Not many ring tones to choose from.

Customer Reviews:
Disappointment with reception on this corded phone.......2007-09-07
The audio on the receiver is really bad. The voice tone you hear is very harsh and it is difficult to hear the person speaking to you.Every adjustment I've tried doesn't help the problem. I often have to ask the person I'm talking to, to repeat what they said. It seems that the person I am speaking to has no problem hearing me on his end.
Talk about basics...What good is a phone that has poor reception? I don't know yet whether or not the problem can be corrected with a replacement handset. Also I was not made aware that this telephone needs to be near an electrical outlet in order to function. V.S.Simon, Houston,Texas
Panasonic KX-TSC14B 2-Line Speakerphone with Caller ID (Black).......2007-03-23
I bought this phone for the quality of it's speakerphone function. It has proven to be as reliable as I had hoped. My company uses this phone and my experience with it there led me to this purchase.
Nice product!.......2006-10-14
It is excellent! Well designed. Works perfectly and no any problem. I am happy with it.
So so........2005-11-25
I was looking for a coreded phone that I could plug my standard headset into. I went to Staples to see which phones had this capability, and the Panasonic KX-TSC14B did, and at a reasonable price. Please note that I did not require a 2-line phone; it seems that all phones with a headset jack (at least at Staples) were 2-line phones.
I purchased the phone and was disappointed. For some reason it made my headset sound very hollow. As the previous reviewer noted, there is no mute button -- I guess I should have realized that sooner. The other annoying "feature" was if I had the headset plugged in, the calls were always routed to the headset; even when I picked up the handset! I could not figure out how to change this behavior.
I returned the phone and started my search again. I found a company that makes great Home Office phones... Aastra. I HIGHLY recommend their phones... or at least the PT-470 which I wound up purchasing. They also make 2-line phones. Do a Google search for "Aastra".
What has happened to telephones recently?.......2004-01-19
So corded phones have now joined the ranks of junk "consumable" electronics along with hair driers and toaster ovens? In my search for a decent 2 line corded phone with caller ID, I purchased and with great disappointment returned 2 AT&T models (once the gold standard of all phones!)and finally, several months into the process, exhausted and desparate, settled on this Panasonic. Unlike the AT&Ts, all of the features work, but there is no mute, no reserve power supply (for shame!)and the LED screen is impossible to read from any angle except from directly above. I do not recommend this or any other two line phone. The situation is pathetic!

GE 2 line phone.......2007-10-29
The phone is a piece of junk.
This company shipped me 2 phones and both were defective and it was not even the same problem. Each phone had a different problem.
Company gave me a FULL Refund for the phone and the shipping, so I am happy with the service, but I would NEVER buy a GE Phone.
Okay phone but features wanting.......2007-07-12
I found the same issue as Brian, with the unrelenting blinking of the voicemail and line buttons, only mine is on line 2 (Brian, what is "power cycling?". I found the same issues as another reviewer with the other callers on a 3-way conference call not being able to hear each other. The manual is completely insufficient, as is any other help available. There is no on-line help available, and the 1-800 number gives only a very limited number of pre-recorded answers. Over all, because of the lack of information about how to use the phone's feature, I find my experience with this phone more frustrating than satisfying.
Never quite worked right........2007-06-13
- Callers frequently complained that I was inaudible due to low volume when using the handset.
- The speakerphone-mode microphone stopped working the second week I had this phone.
- Caller ID functions were not reliable (only displaying the information 1/3 calls)
I telecommute, so a good telephone is a must! I do not recommend this phone because of the audio problems.
cool phone for the $$$.......2006-08-15
I just bought one of these at a thrift shop for $6 and this is the coolest phone I have owned. It even interfaces with VONAGE voice mail. At $50 bucks this would be a good deal.
Voice Mail Light Flashes Forever.......2005-08-12
I have two lines on this phone. Line 2 voice mail light works properly. Line 1 voice mail light flashes forever, and I have to power cycle the phone several times per day to clear the flashing voice mail light on Line 1. I do not recommend this phone.

Good basic phone.......2007-10-29
It will do the job, for a basic office. Very sturdy, will take the abuse from the "girls" banging phone , spilling coffee.
Great unless you have DSL............2006-06-12
We bought this system for our small office and loved it for about a year until we got DSL and then the entire system went haywire. Apparently, the system uses the same frequency as DSL and you have to order a special splitter and have your phone company install it for you to correct the problem. Well I spent 2 hours on the phone with At&t arguing with them before they would even agree to send me a splitter and then an hour on the phone with Bellsouth explaining what I needed them to do. Repairman came out, crawled the house, etc and apparently it's not going to work any way we do it. So we wasted our money on this system and now have to replace it. So be careful...
Great Phone.......2005-02-14
I bought this phone mainly because I wanted a model that had numerous speed-dialing buttons and a decent speakerphone. Thus far, I am very pleased with the model. The 945 is a 4-line phone designed for office use, but it works great as a home phone. It has 16 speed dial buttons located on the right side of the phone. This makes it a snap to call family and friends by just pushing two buttons - one for speakerphone and one for the number. The speakerphone seems to work well and I also like the green backlit lcd display, which generally looks cool but also makes the phone easy to use in the dark. It also displays the date, time, number dialed, and phone call length, useful for keeping track of how long an interesting (or not) conversation has been going on for. Phone preferences can be set by an easy to use on-screen menu system and there are also a bunch of ring tones to choose from, which I appreciate because I have chosen a lower frequency tone that is so much more pleasant than the typical high-pitched annoying telephone ring my last phone had. Be aware, though, that Caller ID isn't supported on this phone.

compatible with our old intercom system.......2007-10-21
I plugged it in to the phone lines & it found our old panasonic phones. I was able to add it to the intercom system as the next number.
Great Speaker Phone.......2007-10-14
Panasonic is one of the few companies today making a 2-line corded phone with a decent speaker phone. When my 17-year old Panasonic KX-T3155 2-line phone developed excessive static, I decide to try out other brands to see how they stacked up. I bought GE, RCA, and AT&T models, but wound up returning them all to my local Staples, OfficeMax, and Circuit City stores. The speaker phone feature was implemented terribly on all the models (muddy sound, low volume, cutting out when no one was talking on the receiving end, non-functional mute buttons, etc.). If you use the speaker phone feature as much as I do (waiting on hold for customer service, conference calls, etc.), then this is the phone to get. I knocked off one star in the ratings because there is no light for the mute button (like on my old model). Instead, it just displays "Mute" on the LCD. FYI - For some reason, this model is not carried by virtually any retailer (and very few online websites), so that's why I used Amazon.com.
Not practical.......2007-04-15
I am usually a big fan of Panasonic products but this telephone is disappointing. I have had it for a number of years now and here are my main complaints:
- The display is hard to read because it is not backlit and the contrast cannot be fine-tuned very well. It is either too much or too little. The display part also does not tilt, so depending on the light in the room the user will have to make an effort to see the display at a suitable angle.
- There are only three buttons to store frequently dialed numbers. Way too few!
- Scrolling through the display to find a number is tedious and not user-friendly.
-There is also no way to delete all received calls from the list at once (at least I haven't found it). I have sat at this phone forever to delete these one after another after another...
I do not like this phone and wish I had paid better attention when buying. I can only recommend to anyone looking for a new phone to make a list of all the features they want and then check thoroughly whether the model in question has all of them. I didn't and ended up with this phone which annoys me daily...
Great Phone .......2007-01-19
The only problem I have with this phone which is why I only gave it 4 stars is that when it's mounted on the wall the handset is not properly secured and tends to fall frequently. I've had to replace the handset because of this.
Excellent Phone.......2006-06-12
I bought this phone to replace a 10+ year old Panasonic model KX-T3175. This phone is equal in all features carried forward, and has attractive new features like built-in caller ID, intercom, and headset capabilities that make it superior. My LCD display is plenty bright, and contains more information than my previous set.

Great so far.......2007-09-12
This phone has exactly what I needed: 2-line corded phone with speakerphone. I like the ability to mute both the speaker phone as well as the handset. The adjustable volume is also a nice feature. The price is great, too. The audio quality seems fine to me. Plenty of volume and no unusual distortion.
Espresso is not black.......2006-10-20
The add says espresso. The phone box says espresso. The phone is black. Called J&R. All phones that are marked espresso are black. I have not used the phone so I can't evaluate the quality but, for reasons on my own I needed a brown phone. J&R were fair in handling the matter. J&R said that they are changing the ad.
Good Phone.......2006-03-24
I ordered this phone because I needed a land-based phone with headset capabilities. This was the least expensive model I could find. It works well.
Solid phone for the price.......2006-03-17
This is a good basic two line phone for someone who doesn't want the LCD. I have purchased many on these for our different locations.
Sound Quality is Poor.......2005-06-09
Complaints that I am hard to hear when I am talking very loud into the handset. I can barely hear anyone on speakerphone even when the volume is on as loud as possible - Disapointing.

In the dark.......2007-12-07
It is very difficult to read the printing on this phone, especially in low light. If mounted on a wall slightly below eye level, it's almost impossible to read. If you buy this phone, buy a flashlight to go with it. I did not see this problem in the store since the lighting was very bright.
Design Fault Likely.......2007-11-26
I bought this model to replace a slightly earlier GE model (probably 29060) and had an immediate problem. My fax machine wouldn't work through its data port. Believing the phone was at fault I got a replacement, but the problem persisted.
My telephone service is a single line (RJ11C) which must have an in-line
DSL filter to work with the analog fax and ordinary telephone. The fax works fine when directly connected to the wall outlet but not through either line 1 or 2 on the phone. My only conclusion is that the data
port doesn't work for a single line hook up.
I called Thompson customer service about this but they were clueless.
They can only give a replacement, not a refund, which is pointless in this case.
An oldie but a goodie.......2007-11-07
Good value for the price in an old fashioned corded phone. Has nice big buttons, good sound and comfortable hand set. No unnecessary gimics.
Low Quality.......2007-09-25
If you are on line one and a call comes into line two, you have significant background noise while the second line is active. In-call volume controls are not intuitive. Overall, I am sorry I bought this phone.
Great Value.......2007-08-27
This phone is a great value for the money and works very well. I purchased 8 and changed all the phones in my house. Only draw back is receiver is a bit uncomfortable and sits poorly on the base unit. It is very easy for the phone to be off the hook.

Good phone system.......2007-11-14
I have been using the KX-TG5771 phone for four months now and find it very satisfactory. The range of the handset is great, extending from the front porch to the rear patio with good quality throughout (the base is in a second floor office). Sound quality is fine, and the headset accessory is very comfortable and clear - great for conference calls.
Panasonic losing their edge.......2007-04-20
I purchased the phone to replace the Panasonic that I had for about 4 years. The older phone was rich in functionality and performed outstandingly well.
NOT this phone. Many of the features are either missing or buried under two or three layers of menus. It does not even have a find handset option on it's front which is key to today's portable home phones.
Outraged at uselessness.......2007-02-15
I don't usually write reviews.
The phone doesn't automatically work when I plug it in. Dials OK. But doesn't respond to a ring.
I returned it to Amazon. Second unit (replacement, received today) is just like the first.
This is really outrageous. (Other phones plugged into same jack ring fine. Unit is powered up. Battery is charged. Base unit ring volume set high. Same for handheld unit. Phone does not respond to incoming calls in any way -- no flashing light, no answering machine pickup, no ring. Phone makes outgoing calls fine. When I dial the phone's number from the phone itself, phone network indicates busy.)
I am now waiting for a response from Panasonic technical support.
Bad reception.......2007-01-27
After only three months the reception on this phone is almost completely shot. Lots of static makes callers virtually inaudible.
Disappointing sound quality.......2006-11-28
Being generally a fan of panasonic phones, this one was a disappointment in several ways. (I imagine that the Panasonic KX-TG5576M would get the same review since it offers a color handset but the same 'guts', and the phones of one unit are compatible with the other.)
First and foremost, the volume on the handset just isn't loud enough. At max volume the voice on the other end sounded far away (according to the caller, I sounded fine though).
Second, the talking Caller ID doesn't come in until the second ring, and even then it says the name instead of the number, which means that cell calls come in as "cordless"... not much help. If you don't like the feature, however, you can disable it.
Third, I didn't really like the ergonomics. The unit felt slippery and the buttons weren't easy for me to press with my thumb. This kind of thing is subjective, of course.
I compared this unit side by side with the Uniden TRU9485. According to the person on the other end, the Uniden handset and especially its speakerphone sounded better than the Panasonic's handset and speakerphone. On my side, the Uniden is way better than the panasonic when it comes to handset volume. The Uniden doesn't measure up to the quality of a corded line, but the volume makes the talker much more legible than with the Panasonic.
So, my recommendation (surprisingly, since I have liked Panasonic and disliked Uniden in the past) is to skip the Panasonic and go with the Uniden. You'll save some money doing that, too, so the Uniden is a win-win.
