Very nice phone for the price!.......2008-01-02
This is a great little phone for the money. I love the extra handset. It is very easy to use the features, also. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to set the various options. One minor thing I would change (isn't there always something?), is that if you turn off "call screening" so you don't have to listen to your messages as people leave them, then, on playback, when you do want to listen to your messages, the volume is very, very quiet. At that point, if you adjust the volume so you can hear the message better, it then automatically turns call screening back on! What is that all about? Just because I want a decent volume when I play back my messages doesn't mean I want to hear them play as people leave them! Especially with all of the other "screening" type features this phone has such as caller id and talking caller id, by the time you let a call roll over to your answering machine, what is left to "screen" at that point? If you didn't already pick up, it is probably someone you don't want to talk to at the time, anyway, no matter what they say in their message! I think this is a design flaw, maybe not serious, but a flaw which does diminish the quality of this phone. What were they thinking? Other than that, I am very pleased and glad that I bought the phone. I also like how simple it will be to add another handset in the future.
So much better than our old Panasonic.......2007-12-29
We've had the Panasonic 5.8 GHz for about a month & we're very happy with it. Clear reception (haven't tried it outside yet). Love the intercom & great battery life. Would like it to have a number with the message indicator but that's minor.
After three days, it works great.......2007-12-28
This was a good buy.
The particulars:
> It takes about seven hours for the first charge.
> Programming numbers into the phone book goes quickly. You do not have to program each handset individually; rather, you can export the phone book from one handset to the other.
> I bought this for my father, who has grown hard of hearing. This phone helps him a great deal with all of its voice enhancement features.
> It covers the whole house well. There is no interference with any electronics, including WIFI and TV remotes.
So far, this appears to be a top-notch product by Panasonic.
Great phone with answering capabilities built in!.......2007-12-24
We desperately needed another answering machine after our new puppy bit through the cords of the last one. I simply looked on amazon.com for the best recommended one and this was it. My hearing husband could not be more pleased. This phone does the job and then some. It's nice not to have several different electronic devices laying around...and this one is out of reach of the dog!

Could use improvement.......2007-12-24
I like the speaker feature, which is helpful for the hard of hearing. What is missing is an audible warning that I have receved messages in my absence. My previous answering machine AT&T did not have the first feature, but did did beep to alert me to new messages.Panasonic KX-TG6072B 5.8 GHz Cordless Telephone w/Digital Answering Machine and 2 Handsets

Put a Handset in Every Room
With two handsets (one base and one charger) included and the option of adding up to two additional handsets--all while using only one base and one phone jack--go ahead and put one in the den, the kitchen, the master bedroom and the living room so you won't have to make a run for it when the phone rings.
Turn the Ringer Off...
Don't miss important calls when the ringer is off. The Light-Up Indicator at the base of the antenna will flash quickly to show that you have an incoming call, and it will flash slowly to let you know you have a new message in your voice mailbox
1. You can also choose up to three different light-up indicator colors to link to your pre-programmed phonebook data. Light-Up ID
1 requires corresponding Caller ID information to be received from an incoming call.
...Or Keep the Ringer On
With Ringer ID
1, you can choose from a downloaded or selectable ringer to link to your pre-programmed phonebook data, which also requires corresponding Caller ID information to be received from an incoming call.
Voices Come Through Loud and Clear
By simulating a band signal above and below the normal bandwidth limitations, Voice Enhancer Technology helps clarify and improve sound reception creating a natural-sounding voice that is easy to hear and understand.
Let the Kids Join the Conversation
With a Digital Duplex Speakerphone on the back of each handset, you can enjoy convenient, high-quality, hands-free conversations from any room in the house. So let the kids join in on the conversation with Grandma and Grandpa, or paint your nails while you chat with your best friend.
See Who's Calling, Even If You're Already on the Phone
We've all become accustomed to Caller ID and its ability to let us see who's calling before we answer the phone. But what happens when you're already on the phone and another call comes in on Call Waiting? Until now, you wouldn't know who was beeping in unless you answered it. With Call Waiting Caller ID
1, you get the best of both worlds. So now when you get a beep, you can see who's calling before you answer
but we'll leave that decision up to you!

Panasonic Telephones.......2008-01-01
All three telephones (one cordless) preformed as advertised except that the wall phone does not "fit" properly on my dsl connector - is "loose".
Great phone!!!.......2007-12-31
I was looking for a phone with an extension set without an answering machine. Panasonic is the only phone I've found that doesn't die immediately when the battery gets low. They are my absolute favorite phone, and I've tried many. This phone is no exception. When the battery low icon comes on, I still have plenty of time to finish the converstaion. Another great buy from Panasonic!
Great phone.......2007-12-30
I needed a new phone and my buddy recommened this panasonic cordless phone. He had the same style and knew because of my hearing loss, that I needed a good, loud phone.
The speaker phone on this phone is great, I do not need to remove my hearing aides to use this phone and can hear clearly all that is said. If you have trouble hearing, I strongly recommened this phone.
Fine Phone.......2007-12-29
All in all, we are very pleased with this phone. The handsets are comfortable, reception is great, volume adjustment works well, sound quality is good. The phone book numbers only need to be entered into one handset and the numbers transfer to the second one automatically. My only quibble is that the missed calls don't match--a phone call answered on one handset sometimes shows up as a missed call on the other one, and a missed call reviewed on one handset doesn't carry over to the other. But that's a pretty minor issue. Great phone over all.
good phones.......2007-12-28
Good phones especially for the price. Sleek nice look.
Haven't had them long so lets see how long they last.

Fantastic.......2008-01-01
Speakerphone not as great as I had hoped, but that's my only concern. Love the intercom feature to call from room to room.
Great Phones.......2007-12-29
I got these about 5 months ago and they have been working great! I highly recommend these phones.
Panasonic does it again.......2007-12-27
The Panasonic 6074 had the features I wanted with a brand name I trust. In particular, the talking caller ID allows us to keep about our activities without having to look at a display to read that it is yet another telemarketer. The intercom feature is a bit unusual in that I have to select a particular handset to call rather than simply ringing all handsets to locate a person. I suppose that would be more appropriate if a phone were in a particular bedroom, etc.
Sound quality is good, and the speakerphone function is better than expected. I dare suggest Panasonic has caught up to AT&T sound quality, and in my opinion have always exceeded them in reliability.
a great household unit.......2007-12-26
Bought the KX-TG6074B as a replacement for our V-Tech system, which lasted only just over a year! The Panasonic seems to be of quite good quality - feels solid, charges easily, and is pretty straightforward to use. The speakerphone capability in each handset is actually quite handy as well. Very happy with purchase.
Nice features........2007-12-26
We especially like the speakerphone feature. We could all chat together over the holidays, rather than have to run to different rooms to pick up the extensions. The intercom is also a neat feature. A great way to call the kids for dinner, or if you have to ask a question. We like the voice caller ID. I can ignore the phone and let the kids pick up when their friends call.

Great phone.......2008-01-01
This is a great phone. Nice "feel" on your ear and hand when talking on it. Great range, very clear signal and the voice enhance feature is pretty cool if you call someone who is a very quiet talker (or the volume their phone sends out is low).
no flaws here.......2008-01-01
Very nice phone, fits cradle nice, lays down, those that "standup"
in cradel {base} get knocked over about every time I reach for it this one is" unknockable " { new word for 08}
Panasonic Perfect.......2007-12-23
Was impressed with the many features incorporated in this nice small size cordless phone -- especially the speaker phone feature.
KCX-TG6031M - Great Phone.......2007-12-18
I've had good experience with Panasonic phones in the past. The Oct 2007 Consumer Reports issue rated this phone #3 behind a more costlier Uniden and an AT&T 5.8/2.4 GHZ model. It has great voice quality both hearing and talking, easy to use settings and display, and I especially like the adjustable ringer and volume controls.
The Panasonic KXT-TG6021M is big bang for the bucks! If you're looking for a excellent basic phone (no base speaker phone, no lighted keypad, no VM features) but has conferencing and speaker phone in the hand set, buy this model. Warranty is a year but for a under $40 phone, who cares.
Fine........2007-12-18
We got the phone because our old cheap phone had bad reception, given the wireless set up we had and our using Vonage. This phone has all the bells and whistles we need, and the reception is noticeably better. Nothing fancy, but fine.

7-8 Hr Battery Life in Real Life Tests.......2007-12-09
I just got the LS82 last week and have been very happy. Picture quality is great, sound is more than adequate and fit and finish is super. Buyer beware, Panasonic only offers a 10-day (yes, 10-day!) warranty on the battery so I've been putting it to the test since I got it. In real world situations (screen brightness in the middle of the range, using the external speakers) I've been able to get between 7 and 8 hours of use from the battery. Of course, this is a lot less than the 12-hour claims from Panasonic (their tests are for the screen as dim as possible and using headphones) but it is more than the best claims of the other manufacturers which are probably as bloated. Also, beware that most of these units will not charge the battery if a DVD is played while it is plugged in (a major bummer for all portables). It comes with a house charger, a car charger and a slick car mount kit for vehicles with headrests on the front seats (I suspect it will work great on a plane attached to the "stowed" food tray and on car front seats that have a connected headrest). Overall, I am very happy with this DVD player.
After going through 3 portables , Im satisfied........2007-11-25
This is a lightweight product: Panasonic LS82 vs Philips 855 vs Sony Fx 810.
I have so far tested out Philips DVP855/37. I really loved it, except that once the internal battery dies, your out of luck, unless your in the warranty range, in which they will replace the entire unit, thier standard warranty is for 12 months, no extended warranty available. Disposable DVD Player? No thanks.
I have so far tested out the Sony FX810/R. This was quite limiting that the technologies were in end of 2005/mid2006. It played some of the DivX, but not any with DTS or complex audios. The weight was solid, for a tiny player. The Resolutions fair, but nothing to be excited about, in all thier formats. Sound quality was alright, it really just depends on your headset for any device really. It's better to wait for the FX850's that aren't in USA yet. I'm suspecting that the OLEDS LCD screens gonna hit the market next year in 3rd quarter sometime. (HDNA's, protypes that came out in 2004 in private sectors, but only showing now sneak peeks in the end of 2007 to consumers/retailers).
I have so far tested out Panasonic LS82. First thing got the 3 yrs warranty, due to labor only 3 months, just to cover the damned labor, Sony's product is a 12 month device and 12 month labor/parts, Panasonic 12 month device and 3 month labor parts warranty. So becareful on that unless your into Disposable DVD players, I'm not.
I have charged the first time rechargable battery for 7 hrs and left it on at 8 hrs, for full load of "12 hrs" test.
Note you wont get the full 12 hrs as it's printed on the manual for the lowest of settings. Keep that in mind, its the same for the Video Ipods, Sony Products, Toshiba products, heck any product, its the same. Just READ throughly before you buy it.
Now for the generic test: Playing a "Transformers movie" at full scope and all settings available, with all settings set on/Full screen/All sounds on highest/screen set to Bright +5,Moonlight/daylight/beach.
The 12 hr battery lasted 5.30 hrs, without using a headset. I just kept playing the movie over and over till the battery got discharged. I was just blown away LOL.. for full settings without a headset, but mostly on the technologies packed into this player.
Samething all high sounds on/all screen reso's set +5 /moonlight/daylight/beach with headset, no settings changed from without headset. The 12 hour battery lasted 8.20 hrs.
I'm just very happy that this can even play "transformers movie" at full settings and offer what they have vs Sony Fx810, which only forced me onto 2 channel audio.
The no remote control seemed weird, lacking almost, I guess due to hacking region codes/battery time. The Japanese version of this player has it set to ALL regions LOL, with no remote control.
Philips 855/37 = remote control, ipod docked, great screen reso's, sound great, no battery replacement unless in 12 months warranty.
Sony FX 810 = remote control, ok tech for yr 2005/2006, some divx not current, forced for 2 channel mono audio.
Panasonic LS82 = no remote control, tech from mid 2007, plays everything imaginable and with all older technologies. plays Ram dvds (SUPER PLUS).
So out of the 3 I chose, Im sticking with this one. I think originally had the Philips 855/37 had a removable battery I would have stuck with that one vs the Panasonic ls82, but since it's not, this is the optium choice for me. This is only day 3, if anything else should happen on this unit, I'll post about the occurrences.
I have no use for the headrest mount, so seems a bit pricey.
It comes with :
ac charger,
headrest mount (car seat mountable),
av plugs to your stereo/home entertainment unit/tv
car adapter (cig lighter socket)
Hope this gives you some insights for portable dvd players.
Note : your sound quality varies based on what type of audio headsets you used.
make sure you open quickly & test your unit.......2007-11-23
I just received my Panasonic DVD LS-82 a couple days ago. I was so excited to receive it I opened it up right away. Thank goodness I did because the ac adapter did not work at all. I tried plugging and unplugging and I tried several outlets and nothing. I immediately called Panasonic and they kept transferring me to the tech department who NEVER answered by the way. I called 4 times and never got a resolution. I decided it was that day before Thanksgiving and they were probably too lazy to answer so I called them this morning and Panasonic wanted me to take it to a repair center. I said the unit was only two days old and I only needed an ac adapter so after several "can you please hold" they agreed to send me a new adapter. I also voiced my concern about the 10 day warranty on the battery and the rep on the phone assured me that since they log the calls my warranty will not start until after I receive the ac adapter. I am very hopeful that the new adapter will work and that I will have no further problems but we shall see. As for the unit itself I was very happy with the look. It is light weight but feels sturdy. But, the 2 headphone jacks are on the left of the unit and they are a little soft. I have to turn the volume up half way to max in order to hear and this was at home in bed. I hope my little boys are able to hear when we are on the airplane; I am a little concerned about that. The picture is okay, descent but not fabulous, definitely a tad grainy. I was not able to check the full life of the battery because I was only able to charge it an hour to and an hour from our Thanksgiving party. It charged for 2 hours in the car and it only played for about 1:50 at home. I am basically keeping the unit because of the 12 hour battery life. I have high hopes that this unit will last us a long while. Cross my fingers.
Best for the price you might ever find.......2007-11-13
I bought this item, because I am frequently traveling on business around the world. So, the first and foremost reason was the huge battery power of this DVD player. From the start, I took it to Japan and Korea, followed by a trip to Eurpoe. since the Battery charger is fit for all currents in the world, all you need is a Adapter kit. Put it on normal in brightness and combine it with a very good Headphone ( like Bose's )and the battery will last you at least 8 hours.
Best thing I ever did for my own in-flight entertainment !
Solid portable DVD player.......2007-10-17
I recently purchased the Panasonic DVD-LS82 portable DVD player after reviewing many competing players (including other Panasonics). What sold me on this player was the long battery life claim and the large screen. Last week I had the opportunity to test the player on a flight from New Jersey to California. I have two small kids and keeping them occupied during the entire 6 hour flight was a priority. The player performed very well; the battery lasted the entire time (though to be fair I had turned the screen setting to the slightly dimmer "Moonlight" setting) and my kids liked the widescreen format. All in all, a very solid player with many useful features and a battery life that seems to be the longest out there.

Just Right for Private Viewing.......2007-12-30
The panasonic portable DVD player is easy to operate and particularly useful as an extra viewer when family visits.
Great buy I love it ........2007-12-13
I love this toy it is great for outdoors and long trips you will enjoy it
Great unit for airplane travel.......2007-11-12
We purchased this unit for airplane travel for my 4-year-old son. I chose this unit because the screen pivots forward which allows the unit to sit on the small table in front of you without having to be close to the forward edge. It also has the added benefit of being out of the way when the person in the seat in front of you decides to recline the seat.
The picture is clear and crisp, and there was plenty of volume for two headsets. The 6-hour rated battery was able to power the unit thru two full length feature movies.
I wish my parents had one of these when I was a child...
Fun Little Machine.......2007-11-10
I love this DVD player. The only complaint is difficulty hearing it well. I need to get better headphones for the car because it's really hard to hear while my husband is driving with country music on!
What fun to spend hours watching the next season of 24 while traveling. The trip sure goes fast (for one of us:) I researched for months. I love the screen being able to tilt without the base moving. That really helps with different lighting. It also feels sturdy. Some others seemed flimsy. Great little machine. I also love Amazon and free shipping!
Disappointed!.......2007-11-09
After a thorough reserach on portable DVD players, I bought the Panasonic DVD-LS80 primarily because they have pretty good reviews. Was pretty impressed with the picture quality and the anti-skip protection. A remote control could have been a good addition, especialy for the price.
The regretful decision to purchase this DVD player however came when the audio speakers gave up on me...it just went "dead" and i was forced to use headphones all the time in order to use the player which was a major inconvenience. Also, as was pointed out in the other reviews, you don't get 6hours of battery life as promised, more like 3hours.

Pretty good little phone........2007-12-29
We bought these phones with two more handsets for use in our business. The range and clarity are great, as well as the intuitive controls. I guess the only beef I have with it is that when you are on line 1 and line 2 rings, the sound cuts out with the ring tone. This is especially anoying when speaking with a customer. Even with this drawback, I would buy this phone again!
Great phones!.......2007-12-25
We really like these phones. The work well, battery life is great. And there are lots of good features!
awesome phone system.......2007-12-22
I am really picky about my phones. I had not seen this system in person only on the internet. Not only am I pleased, I am thrilled. This phone gives you all you really need. It is so convenient. You can pick up a message from any hand set by just hitting a few buttons. No more running to the answer machine. The voice and hearing quality is excellent. Speakerphone is great as well. It does everything I need it to. I have it in a 2500 Sq ft. home and no sound quality issues anywhere. That really does depend on your homes wiring and other wireless equipment. i have cable and wireless internet and it does not have any affect on the system. I highly reccomend this phone, If I'm happy you'll be happy, just ask my wife!!!!!
a little disappointed, just an average phone and answering system.......2007-12-07
The sound quality is just OK during conversation. Answering system outgoing message is actually quite poor sound quality. I have had several other phone systems with much better sound quality. It really lacks features for such an expensive phone/answering system. It does NOT have a paging feature, so you have no way of knowing if a message is left, except to keep calling home to see. There is no feature to allow each line to ring only certain handsets, so the business line rings in your bedroom, like it or not. Then there are the feature buttons that are recessed. They are hard to push, they are soft rubber and you have to push the button just right to activate the line choice or feature you're trying to activate, and it's difficult. The phones have a light that is lite all the time, yet if you choose to have the blinking lite alert you of a message, that uses battery power... doesn't having the light on all the time use up battery power? The handsets are long and skinny, hard to hold and you can't rest it on your shoulder. I wish I knew more about the phone before I purchased it. Not having the paging feature is really a handicap for me. How can I let people know I'm going to call them back within a couple hours if I have to keep calling home to see if anyone has even called, which I'm sure I'm going to remember to do all the time, since I have so much time and cell minutes to waste for nothing most of the time. I just think it's a lot of money for a very basic phone system. The only really decent feature is that you can add handsets, and oh yea, it's 5.8ghz so it's less likely to interfere with my home wireless network.
Declutter your desk.......2007-12-04
Our Panasonic KX-TG6702B dual line cordless phone system works flawless. We had a Panasonic single line cordless system before and knew what to expect. The dual line system eliminates the other phone from your desk and helps to declutter office. In our micro enterprise we got four handsets for receptionist, accounts, art director, workshop. We use one line for outgoing calls to keep the other line open for incoming calls. The intercom is a great feature to communicate between offices as well as to forward calls. Best of all you don't need to run ugly phone lines all over the place. Phone lines are plugged into central unit only while the daughter handsets only need a regular power wall outlet to recharge batteries. The phone's design is smaller and looks more professional than our old system.
Reach is in most cases fully satisfactory as long as you don't work/live in a bunker of concrete and steel.
We have not used the built-in answering machine due to voice mail from our provider.

dlanier.......2007-12-21
I love my Home Theater Sound System. The sound effects is awesome!! Great recommendation. The sound effects makes bad movies worth watching. Great system, especially, for the price.
Kills my wi-fi connection.......2007-12-03
I bought this system in October over the 950 and 1050 systems because the other systems didn't have bookshelf speakers. I don't know if those systems are any better, but I'm definately not happy with the 750. The only problem setting up the system was adjusting the speakers. In addition to the test sounds that the system generates, I used DVD Video Essentials to adjust my speakers. It took me forever to figure out how to adjust the left/right front speaker levels. Even though the front and rear speakers sound balanced using both the test sounds and DVD Video Essentials, the rear speakers are barely audible. The "dialog enhancer" for the center speaker doesn't seem to do much either.
One unusual problem I've encountered is that my laptop's wi-fi won't connect with my wireless router when the home theater system is on. For some reason it can't detect my wireless router with the home theater running.
Recently, another problem has developed with some DVDs where the system shuts itself off after playing for less than a minute. This happened most recently with the movie "Apocalypto." Eventually it started running fine.
One thing I hate about all the remotes that these home theaters come with is that they aren't illuminated. Good luck finding the menu or pause buttons in the dark while the movie is running. It's easy to find the "play" button in the dark by touch, but the fast forward and volume controls are too close to other buttons like the "source selecter" that will put you in auxillary/ipod mode. You'll have to switch back to dvd and start the movie all over from the beginning.
Panasonic SC-PT750 Deluxe 5 DVD Home Theater System.......2007-10-30
I bought my Panasonic SC-PT750 Deluxe 5 DVD Home Theater System on 26 October 2007 and I hooked it up on 27 October 2007. I would like to say that I am in love with this system the only thing that I have to say is that the speaker wires are too short. I am giving this Home Theater System a good rating because I just love the sound that it has. I really fell like I am in the movie theater when I am watching a DVD with this system. I have a JVC Home Theater System but it is not as good as this one. I think that it is good that I can use the remote control from this system to operate my Television also this is another good thing about this system. I just can not get enough of this system I am glad that I bought it I am in Germany and it is hard to find good Home Theater Systems over here.
Good Product, great value.......2007-10-23
This system is great for a small space or somebody looking for a decent value. I have had no problem with the wireless speakers and am considering getting the optional sets to get the music in other rooms in the house. It does not have the power to blow the doors off anything, so if you are looking for a loud system, you may need to go higher end. Also there is only one aux input (in addtion to the Ipod mode and there is also a jack input on the front), so if oyu have a ton of other components this is not for you. Otherwise, good sound, reasonable volume and clear DVD picture. The Ipod dock and remote functionality are also great.
Good for all in one sound system, but beware of limitations........2007-09-26
I bought this system hoping to streamline what small living space I had, and get rid of big, bulky speakers and other audio/video components. I was quite pleased with the sound this system produced. However, as I was considering upgrading to an HD DVD player, I quickly realized the pitfalls and limitations of this unit.
First, although this systems has wireless rear speakers, the sound they produce is not as strong as the front speakers. Also, the speaker wire it comes with limits how far apart they can be, and if you need more distance than the wire allots, then you have to splice the speaker wire it comes with yourself to increase the length since you cannot simply replace the wire provided with longer wire. Panasonic likes to make things proprietary. On that note, if any component gives out on this system, like the receiver for the rear wireless signal, or the DVD player, or the receiver itself, then you're stuck with a useless system and replacing pieces here and there is not as simple as if you had separate components to begin with.
Second, if you want to upgrade later, such as a high end DVD player, there is no optical audio connection in the back of the receiver, so you will not be able to get DTS or Dolby Surround sound when you watch movies using a different DVD player. When I looked into this more, it turns out that when you have wireless speakers, you already loose the true surround sound by not having a physical wire connection from the main receiver to the rear speakers. That's why they didn't bother to put in an optical audio input. I didn't realize that when I bought it. If you don't plan to upgrade, then you're fine. But why spend hundreds of dollars on a unit that already limits you to expanding in the future. You should use the money towards buying a true theater sound system.
As for the upconverting DVD player, I never thought the picture was as good as my old Panasonic upconverting DVD player. I played around with all the different video settings, and I was never satisfied. So I ended up using my old DVD player in the end.
Given that there is a movement towards HD television and HD DVD, I wouldn't recommend buying this system. Save your money, and use it to buy a real receiver and speakers. I think it is fine as a starter for young kids or for a dorm room, but not if you are the least bit of an audio or videophile.
In the end, I wound up returning the system and buying "real" speakers so to speak, using my bulky, yet perfectly fine Denon receiver. I am much happier now.

great phone, great price.......2007-12-24
good value here just needs a volume control for hard of hearing to reach perfection
Expandable phones don't have good reception.......2007-12-23
We had to return the phones because the expandable phones had terrible reception. They would crackle and breakup when walking. We had to remain stationary for them to work.
Excellent performance.......2007-12-18
Panasonic seems to make the most reliable, easy to use cordless phones packed with features. I bought this set to replace three lesser cordless phones I had in the house and this set does not disappoint. It has excellent range and voice clarity. The battery life is very good. The feature that slows a callers voice down so you can better understand them works well too. I found it wasn't necessary for most callers but is useful with some. We didn't use the answering machine as we have voicemail through our phone service. The voice annouce is more amusing than informative-it tries to announce the name of the caller and it does so very mechanically and at least three rings into the call.If you want a good voice announcer, buy and attach a talking caller id machine- I have one and it announces the number clearly and loudly on the first ring. My point is don't count on this particular feature. There is no external antenna to potentially break off either, the design is great. This set is a great buy that offers great performance as all Panasonic cordless phones usually do. Buy It!
the talking caller id is kind of scary.......2007-12-12
So far this phone has been reliable and the voice quality is good. The phone lasts charged for quite awhile even when it is not on the charger. My phone line can have a lot of static when it rains, but I have not had this problem since buying this phone and we have had several rain and snow storms. Good system for the money. My only complaint is the talking caller id voice can be a little scary and misprounces a lot of names, however once you get used to it it is great becaue you can very easily screen calls without even looking at your phone. It says our last name correctly, and most people mispronounce our last name I was impressed by that. Overall this system is a great buy.
Panasonic KX-TG6053S.......2007-12-06
I've owned previous Panasonic cordless phones and have been satisfied with their performance. In my opinion, this one does not live up to the Panasonic phones I have had in the past.
Pros:
Clear sound, nice feel and weight of phones, multiple handsets
Cons:
Talking caller id has hard time pronouncing easy words, no backlight, records all hang-ups as a message (very annoying), no indicator for number of new messages (only a blinking light), does not display name and number on caller id for very long
It is an ok phone, but I expect more from Panasonic then this. The most annoying feature is the recorded hang-ups. So every sales person that calls and hangs up gets recorded. "You have 16 new messages" and I have to sit through them all to find if there is a "real" message mixed in there or if they are just hang-ups. I called and emailed Panasonic support about this, but they were not able to assist and were very slow in responding.
UPDATE - 12/19/2007 - recently the main base unit started making clicking noises for about 30 seconds after each phone call. And as of yesterday, I cannot use any of the 3 phones for outgoing calls. When I attempt to dial a number the phone does not dial, just keeps a dial tone, but no dialing. Receives calls just fine. I am now in a position where I have to have the phones serviced as they are under warranty, but I'll be looking to replace them with something else in the near future. It is dissapointing that Panasonic has put out a product like this.

Good Value for the price.......2007-12-29
Simply put, this is a very good compact stereo - especially for the price. I bought this to use in a medium sized bedroom and it easily produces enough volume for me. AM and FM performance are very good, and the CD player is good. Using a CD-RW with mp3's allows for long play from a single disc. I don't have much use for the cassette player/recorder, but it works satisfactorily.
As has been written by others, the speakers aren't the best. I hooked up a pair of Boston Acoustics bookshelf speakers, which improved bass response and overall clarity. That said, the included speakers are satisfactory. My biggest gripe is the lack of buttons to select preset stations (need the remote), and I usually just re-tune using the
< > buttons. A minor issue is that the cassette recorder doesn't auto reverse when recording (or at least I couldn't figure out how to make it do so) - but this isn't a big deal, since I rarely use the tape drive.
On the positive side, I was surprised at how well the AM and FM tuners perform. The reception is clear and steady on all the stations across the dial in my locale.
The Amazon experience was top notch on my purchase. The item was shipped the next day, and on my door two days after that.
