This little kit is a fun beginning into a journey of lomography. It comes with a booklet of artwork from other artists who used the style of photography, and is worth the price of the whole kit by itself. The camera and accessories are all included and are everything you need to get started.

If you are a first time HOLGA photographer, prepare to be completely confused and scared. I still have no idea if my camera even works. It makes absolutely no sound when the camera clicks, and the button for taking pictures feels hard when pushed down (I'm not even sure if it actually took any pictures at all). But the manual prepares you for this experience. According to them Holga cameras can be nerve recking at first until you develop the pictures and fall INLOVE with them. I haven't had time to develop mine, so I'm still a little confused. Lightweight, fun camera. It feels like a toy. Great to take around on a long walk and experiment. Color flash is a great addition, I used different colors on my pictures, can't wait to see them. Oh, and also sometimes the flash wouldn't work when "taking picture". Like I said, COMPLICATED, takes a while to understand the mechanics. HOLGA images are amazing, I am very excited and hoping it worked out fine! Good luck!

This is a great starter-kit into the world of the Holga/Toy/Lomography. The kit has everything to get started, and the book included is some nice eye-candy to get some ideas as to what this plastic camera is capable of. It's also a lot cheaper here than in most retail stores you might find in the downtown area of your city...ie: rhymes with Gurban Routfitters..;)

So you probably know what holga's are capable of. This model is a slightly more versatile version with color flash and tripod mount. These cameras are fun for their unpredictable, yet amazing photo quality. I won't say that getting great photos is easy but is more likely to happen with a camera that has it's own personality and that is what the holga is. It comes with a book with some really good tips for taking interesting photos and showcases some really wonderful pictures as well to help inspire you. For the price on Amazon there is no reason for you to not give it a whirl.

I first started out with digital, but was drawn to the world of lomography and holga-graphy. I thought the package would take forever to get here because of the arrival estimate, but it came in quite fast. I bought the kit for $50, and thought it was a good invesment--the package came in with the camera, several manuals, batteries, tape, 120 film and a great book from the lomography society featuring holga shots, tips and tricks. I am almost done with the first film and can't wait to see how it turns out.
There is one downside though. The Holga camera I bought was a 120 CFN, which uses different colored flashes. I was very disappointed that the flash did not work! I tried changing batteries--nada. It sucks to have a 120 CFN with a non-working flash; I mean, the color flash is the defining characteristic of this model! The Holga is an awesome camera because you never know what you'll get image-wise, but please don't expect that it will WORK because after all, it is just a cheap plastic toy camera...

In terms of size, it has a lot more benefit than the previous models. in terms of functioning, I don't see any impressive improvement. make sure you call Vonage to register this adapter before you use it (give them the serial number).

I bought this to replace my three year old Vonage phone adapter. I was having voice quality issues. Installation was quick and easy. As soon as the Linksys adapter was installed, I stopped having voice quality problems. However, now my caller ID works only occasionally. And my 'voicemail waiting' indicator light (on the telephone) works sporadically at best.
Linksys got the important stuff right - I can make clear calls again. But they need to sweat the details a bit more.

And Vonage will not give you a new one, no matter how long you have been a customer. To make it worse, these VOIP routers are a ripoff compared to the price of a decent, unlocked router. I had one of these for a couple years and it drops packets constantly now. It can't even route.

I got this adapter about a week ago and so far absolutely no problems using this device and the Vonage service from Trinidad, which is in the Caribbean. Setup was a breeze and audio quality is crystal clear despite opting to use the lowest bandwidth option of the Vonage bandwidth saver feature.
I haven't awarded 5 stars because of the shortness of the evaluation period.
Important setup tip:
Make sure your firewalls (ISP and/or LAN) are configured to allow connection to the Vonage server.

The device does what it says and works very well. The only con is that you can only use the indor receivers with incandecent lighting and I have energy efficient bulbs thoughout the house so I was forced to use the outdoor receivers indoor.

There is an excellent concept behind this product. I love the design and the functionalities especially the house code feature. There is a little problem I encountered. The outdoor switch doesn't work when the server and the switch are on different circuit group(under different switch in the electric box). I don't know what caused that. I haven't spent a lot of time on that yet. Problem might get away if I leave that switch on the plug long enough to charge cell that keeps the memory of the code.

Man am I glad I picked this little gem up! I am using it to turn on and off the Christmas lights around my house. The two outdoor rated devices allow me to turn on and off the outdoor Christmas lights from the warmth and comfort of my house. The two indoor modules allow me to do the same without bending over and knocking off half the tree ornaments!
After Christmas, I am sure I can find a use for it around the house, but rest assured, come Christmastime it will be utilized to turn on and off those pesky, yet wonderful, Christmas lights!
It dropped a star because even in the off mode it still allows a little electrical current through. Not sure why, but it does. I know this because the outdoor Christmas lights (even though they are off) still emit a slight glow. No big deal, but I would think off is OFF!

I got this for my husband as an early Christmas present. We are using it with our Christmas lights and Christmas tree. It works great and is very simple to use and install. So much more convenient than having to go outside to turn the lights on and off or reach behind the tree. I would definitely recommend this to others.

I purchased two of these units to operate Christmas Lights. The indoor units work great-you can have all of the indoor lights come on with a single switch. The outdoor ones we have not been able to group correctly-may be due to the fact that we have two base units in the house-but we can still turn on and off all of our lights from the remote-nice. What I really like is not having to run into all the bedrooms to turn on the candle lights in the windows. Only downside is that the Black and Decker website has no information on the Freewire system.

The included software is terrible and very difficult to use. I have a great printer and it still was able to mess every sheet up. I could not find any Word-compatible templates for these sheets, so we had to use the included software. Waste of $12.

The software for this product is not user friendly. I spent some time "calibrating" my printer and the result was perfect...on regular printer paper. However, when you printed on their label paper, the result was way off from the template. I, finally, gave up trying to coordinate my printer with their paper and threw the whole thing out.
Misled and Disappointed.......2007-02-18
I purchased this kit because I wanted to put a label on a DVD I made. There was nothing in the accompanying online blurb which indicated that it would work only with Windows. So I, a confirmed Mac man, found that the mounting disk would open, but I could not make it work properly. The stock on which the disc blanks and spines were imprinted seemed very heavy, but the adhesive-backed portion worked OK using the round plastic mounting device in the kit. PhotoShop made me a form that matched the printed position of the labels and I filled it in with my own design. None of the designs provided on the disk of the kit met my needs, and in any event I am not sure that I could have transferred them to PhotoShop.

Best consumer security cameras out there.......2007-12-21
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RHJI8IX9SG8SJ I have two Wilife LukWerks Indoor cameras. I added the IR nightvision kit to one of them. I bought my first Wilife Indoor Camera a year ago and the second one about 5 months ago. If you get one of these, make sure to download the latest software and firmware from their support website. Based on my experience trying other cameras, the Wilife security camera system is the best available for the price. You would need to leave a computer on 24x7 however. Their hardware is good but the software is exceptionally good. In fact, their software might be one of the top few in the consumer market. These cameras give decent low light performace even without the night vision kit and if you add the night vision kit, you get 20-30 feet in total darkness. You can also set them up to view remotely from another computer and even mobile phones (you might need to set up port forwarding if using a router). You can define motion sentivity levels and motion zones for each camera. This means that the camera will pick up motion only in the areas of screen where you enable the motion zones. If there is any movement in the areas not selected (example tree leaves constantly moving due to wind), the camera won't record the motion and thus saving disk usage.
The reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that one of my camera power supply failed after about 5 months of use. But their 24x7 customer support is terrific. When I created a support request on their website, I received a response within couple of hours. I communicated with their support via email and this was Sunday night from midnight to about 2am and they promptly responded and after I provided the details, they sent me a link to fill in the RMA form. When I created the RMA request, they shipped me the power supply via FedEx. I had created another support request with them a while ago regarding software issue and had received a prompt response. If only the other electronics manufacturers had such a customer support service. All in all, I would highly recommend their cameras if you are looking for a friendly and fun security system.

Also check out the video clip captured by this camera included with the review (it might have been resized as part of the upload process). You will see that a delivery guy threw the package instead of hand delivering it and their delivery tracking website said "Left at the door". The Wilife camera video shows how the package was not left but "thrown" at the door!
I heard that Wilife has been aquired by Logitech but I am surprised that these cameras have not made it to the big box local retail stores yet.

As mentioned in my review above and mentioned in the other reviews, their camera power supply (costs about $40 to replace if out of 1 year warranty period) has a high failure rate!! I think they need to have a wifi version of cameras in addition to the powerline networking version.
Nice Idea. Some Problems........2007-10-27
Review submitted on October 27, 2007. Nice concept. Fairly good camera operation. Some serious issues still needing to be addressed.
I own two outdoor cameras and two indoor cameras. All of the cameras are sensitive and will flicker out occasionally. Since they use the existing power wires to run the video signal, there seems to be many instances where the signal is interrupted. The camera will flicker off for a few seconds and then flicker back on. Sometimes this can get quite bad where it is off more than it is on. Sometimes it stays off and you have to "find" your cameras via the software. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. When it fails, you need to reboot the camera.
According to the instructions, if the camera cuts out too much the solution is to move the camera to a different outlet. But that is much easier said than done. My outdoor cameras are permanently installed on the eves of the roof. The wiring is hidden within the eves. "Just move it to a different location" is not an option.
The indoor cameras have an even worse problem. Within six months of purchase BOTH power supply units to the indoor cameras failed. None of the lights illuminated. They were totally dead. Although customer service was friendly, waiting on hold appears commonplace and it took over a week for the replacement to arrive.
From the comments I have read from others with these cameras, the power supply failures appear to be a serious design flaw in the system.
The actual camera image is fairly good. There is no audio - which can be a drawback for some. Night vision is poor unless you have the night vision kit. I have also noticed that the exposure adjustment is very slow. One of my indoor cameras is window mounted by the front porch. I have motion lights outside. At night the camera shows total blackness. When a visitor (intruder) comes toward the front door and activates the motion light, the camera image shows only white. Over the next 10 seconds or so, it will slowly adjust the exposure until it is correct. However, by that time, the intruder or visitor will be inside or have left and the camera would not have been able to record the identification. I found this very disappointing.
One of the positives is the remote ability. It is nice to access your cameras from work or another location via the web for "live" viewing. There is now also a paid service whereby you can view "recorded" video from remote locations.
Overall, I have mixed feelings. The design flaws in the power supply, the unreliability of using the power wires to send the video, the poor exposure reaction and night vision, counter some of the conveniences and positives. Overall, I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars.
1st Wireless Camera that Worked.......2007-10-09
I tried Luinksys and D-Link and couldnt get them to work. This was up and running out of the box. You can watch the video from your cell phone too. Amazing. Highly reccomend. Keep in mind your PC needs to be on for the camera to work.
Good camera, Expensive for what you get!.......2007-07-22
The camera is pretty good, but you cannot see at night with it. You must buy an IR kit from the company to use in the dark. Should be included with starter kit. Also if you want to use the pan, tilt, zoom you must upgrade the software to Platinum version for $[...] per year fee. Pretty sad, they include features that you cannot use unless you upgrade and pay them for as long as you use the system. It says its wireless, but not really because you have to plug the power adapter into it. Must have an outlet close by. I bought the system from Costco which included 2 cameras for $[...], I took it back the next day because you can get a 4 cam system that works a lot better for that price.Wilife DVS800I LukWerks Indoor Starter Kit

I'll update this if their customer service will get back to me. I've been holding for more than 25 minutes now. This is not a company worth dealing with. The customer service group responds quickly but nothing was given except they told me that they knew it is a problem with their power supply!!! So this guy know it is a problem, instead of given RMA number, he give me the number for tech support. 877-585-9397 option 2... 25m and I give up. Time to find a retail store that sell this and do a swap.

The product is high quality and easy to use. This is a very good choice for hidden camera. I specifically liked the quick install (just a few minutes, and it works!) and the web viewing capability.
Drawbacks:
1. Has a wide angle view, but still misses a bit. A few more degrees wide would have made it perfect.
2. Picture details very good (excellent resolution for the purpose). Color - not good. Most of the time show black & white with very light color. To get good color requires the room to be very lighted.
3. It comes with automatic "relay" mode that limits web viewing to 3 minutes at a time, and is very slow. Instructions to setup "direct" mode exist, but were working for me. I had to do more research to get direct mode working. Once I did, worked perfectly - no time limits, and no delays in web viewing.

Out of the box and your going in less then 15 minutes. The ability to connect to your camera utilizing your electric outlets is amazing and flexible. You can move the camera easily without ever running new cable.

i used this thing for 2 days and returned it for the following reasons:
1) internet viewing can only be 3 minutes
this is true for all WiLife product and not just this kit.
internet viewing done via the free web address provided by WiLife.
2) the LCD clock is lit blue at night/dark and there's no option to turn it off. so much for camouflag!!
3) emailed tech support and never got a response. as of today....4 weeks later, still no response from them yet.
4) you need to install their software to view via LAN.
internet viewing kind of useless since you only have 3 minutes from WiLife.
5) camera is completely useless in the dark and also recording quality is quite poor. the best it can do is 15 fps. for a moving subject, it's very blurry.
everthing advertised by WiLife is true except those quirks i listed above which they didn't tell you until you use the system.
i returned the WiLife and got the Panasonic instead.
Axis and Toshiba seem like a good candidate also.
the nice thing about Panasonic, Axis and Toshiba is that you can spend as much or as little as you want to fit your budget.
WiLife camera quality needs some serious work.
it depends on your needs but i need a security system that i can identify the culprit's face and that means i will need PIXEL from the camera. unfortunately, WiLife has no camera that can do this.
INSTALLATION:
WiLife installation is plug-n-play.
the easiness installation of placing the camera anywhere that has electrical outlet in your house is nice. keep in mind that you can do the same with other brand like Panasonic. you just need to purchase the thing that called "powerline" which convert your household electrical outlet into LAN without having to run your own LAN cable.
LOCAL MONITORING:
you need to install WiLife software for local viewing compare to Panasonic doesn't need anything special.
RECORDING:
recording can only be done with local computer that has WiLife software.
you can record continuously or based on movement.
the recording used WM9 encoder.
quality is ok.
bad for security purposes since their no FTP for you to send the recording.
imagine if the culprit stole the computer with WiLife.
you would have no proof of the event!
if you have multiple cameras, you will need some powerful computer.
WiLife provided the list for this.
if you're serious about security, better to spend money on DVR.
ALERT:
alert via email works as advertised.
you can set sensitivity on the movement before activate the recording.
CONCLUSION:
keep in mind that Panasonic, Axis and Toshiba are the system use by the bank, airport, hotel, mall, park, government building, etc.
those brand are for serious security compare to WiLife target the low-end market. you can get a decent system from Axis or Panasonic for $319 which is the price for WiLife kit. i chose Panasonic because of its zoom, pan and tilt capability and when i'm ready to spend more money, i can stay within the same brand. Panasonic allows monitoring up to 12 cameras per account compare to WiLife only 6 cams. recording quality, 3 minutes internet viewing and no FTP were a serious turn off for me with WiLife.
i will write a separate review regarding the Panasonic after a couple months of usage. also will post the review on my own website, sokhaDotCom.

I wasn't expecting much for the cheap price I paid for this, but after a year the charger and batteries are still working great!

We bought this for my daughter's camera, because the costs for replacing the lithium battery was outrageous. Now we just put the battery in the charger for a few hours and she's back to taking pictures. It takes more pictures between charges than I expected, so we are satisfied customers.

I love this product. I love the fact that it is small and will sit anywhere and not interfere with other things. I love the fact that I can use it in my vehichle while traveling down the road.
